Best Kdrama Boyfriend Award.
I’m announcing the start of this blog’s weekly Best Kdrama Boyfriend (BKB) Award.
You, smart readers, lurkers and posters, are all invited to nominate a male character from a kdrama of your choice.
The drama does not have to be currently playing. It can be a drama that recently concluded (like SeeHee from “Because This is My First Life”) or it can be a drama that ended years ago (like Hyuk-joon from “Sweet 18”).
You may tweet, reply here, email or text me the names of your praiseworthy oppa. Remember now: I want the character’s name, not the actor himself.
I will go through the list of recommended male characters, and decide on the winner this coming weekend.
My requests:
Please tell me in five (5) sentences or less, why you think he’ll make an excellent boyfriend. If you need 10 paragraphs to swoon, that’s okay, too. I’ll just copy and paste your entire Homage to Oppa.
Please give examples from the script (no fanfics) where he acted “boyfriend-ly.”
If possible, cite the episodes so I can look them up myself and verify that your nominee is truly a boyfriend material.
You can email or tweet me pictures and gifs of your BKB nominee if you want. I’m shallow so visuals can convince me.

Same with Ann Min Hyuk of Strong Woman DBS. If you tell me his BF characteristics and what scenes I’ll look into them. All I remember is he buys a lot of gifts for her. And he wasn’t turned off by DBS’s supernatural ability unlike DBS’ chauvinistic crush. It also helps that the actor was a cutie-patootie.

I didn’t realize how hard it would be to even nominate a name when thinking not just about looks or talent or even what I have seen. But about personality and who they are within. A guess into their heart and soul. My list upon first hearing about this seemed to be funny and long. Yet upon thinking deeper about what that person would truly be like as a boyfriend. Quickly my list became much smaller…
For I hadn’t really thought about it for I mostly admire and have never had the honor to meet any of them. I get teased about overthinking everything and this is no different. If feels kind of sad in my even judging them in this way but since it is for fun I will do my best LOL!!

Kim Rae Won… After seeing him for the first time in Love Story In Harvard I remember being so moved by his gentleness and the emotions I could see within his eyes that made me believe that it wasn’t just the character that he was playing but in fact a glimpse of who this man could be.
Even later when adding his projects one by one. My Little Bride,Rooftop Room Cat, A thousand day’s promise, Doctors and currently Black Knight. The last two being my favorites…
What facts do I know about his real life very few. But this one sticks out the most that he not only took the girl he loved home everyday a 3 hour round trip for him. Not caring about the distance as young man. But did it faithfully for over a year and a half That he loved a woman so much he didn’t want to live without her. Which makes me believe he knows the value of a woman and is gentleman. Is willing to take care of her no matter the cost to himself…
In the drama Doctors I saw that same personality trait beaming and that protective and yes even caring nature coming through. Loud and clear. I will never forget the sight of him on that hospital rooftop climbing out of that helicopter walking over to Park Shin Hye and asking ” Did you get married? Got a boyfriend? That’s well then”. Lets just say he took my breath away…
Even now in his current project Black Knight. He once again shows us the viewers those simple yet so assertive one lines and words that he is able to express so well. Not only in what he is saying but how he is saying it. His ability to draw out every ounce of emotion from us who are lost in just the sight of him. Amazed in the very fact that he just continues to get better. And I am not just speaking about his looks. This drama is about a love that withstands struggles and hardships. Even the test of time and beyond. A forever love…
I believe that KRW in his real life has felt great love and loss. And I hope just like his character he too will in time find a great love again…
His age may seem to old for some to be nominated, yet I believe it is the heart that matters most. Someone who loves with his whole self and is willing to protect and value the woman he loves. That in itself is boyfriend material to me…
Love is timeless and ageless and a GOOD MAN no matter what age he is… Is priceless…

Kang Tae Ho looks like a model (😜) dress nicely, tall (something that I find attractive in a man) a bit brusque.but gentle at the same time. He is also romantic in his own way towards Go Ho. He protects her. When a man is harrassing her he twists the man’s arm. Yup..KTH is a manly man.
Kang Tae Ho is a bit rude, arrogant, bossy… But he knows how to treat a woman. She may think negatively on his actions because she was so clueless of how he feels for her. She only understands him later.

heyyyy, there’s no age limit for boyfriends. 🙂 My husband is still “my boyfriend” after more than three decades. It’s the way he treats me…I still feel like a giddy girl out on her first date when we go on our Friday lunch dates at the Indian restaurant near the office. Just last night, as I followed him up the stairs (so bone-tired after work), he turned around and offered me a hand. Little things like that keep us young at heart. 🙂
I’ve only watched him in “My Little Bride” and “Which Star Are You From.” Tell me more about this “Doctors.” Are there any more memorable scenes? I only saw the earlier episodes and I wondered why the directors and scriptwriters give him roles (or HE picks them out?) where he’s the older saner male crush of the young heroine going through turbulent adolescence, and he becomes her lover when they’re reunited. It’s kinda like a “Daddy-Long-Legs” image. I think the actor exudes this stable, secure, level-headed, responsible persona which girls find timelessly attractive.

woo tak/jung hae in: without confession he know that he cant be with her, but he still doing his best to make her happy, he is the best second lead i love. (while u were sleeping)
favorite BF in 2016:
wangyeo/lee dong wook: the most cutest boyfriend for sunny! (goblin)
heo jun/yoon shi yoon: he is willing to save the curse child even with his own life. (mirror of the witch)
jungwon/ko kyung pyo: the sweestest second lead ever, too bad the female lead stuck with the one who love to hurt her. lol (jealousy incarnate)

heo jun jae: he always protect simchung from bad ppl who tried to harm her, since she was born as mermaid. he cant live without her, in the past he died when he tried to save her from their enemy. he is so easily jealous if someone getting close with his mermaid, he cant live without her, he tried to be a better man for simchung, he quit his job as con artist to work as prosecutor for her. he know simchung ability to delete ppl memories about her, so junjae working hard with writing diary everyday about his life with simchung. and he patiently waiting for her comeback to him, while waiting he brought house with sea view, for her. anyway they living happily ever after.
