100 Days My Prince: Plotholes

Feel free to list the plotholes that you’ve noticed. Here are some of the inconsistencies and loose ends that I’ve noticed.

1.  from goyangi:  JeYoon recognizing the thugs in the market place despite his prosopagnasia.

2. What happened 10 years ago? (Or is this an incorrect translation again?)

From Episode 1. HongShim was about to go to her monthly trek to the Hanyang.

Her fake father asked her “What if someone recognizes you in Hanyang?” And she paused.

She replied, “It’s been over 10 years since then.”  Ten years since what??

It’s been 16 years since she separated from her brother, and she’s now 28 years old. We don’t know what happened during the first 6 years of their separation but we know that something happened when she was 18 years old or ten years ago.

She continued, “I’ve gotten so much prettier since then, so they won’t. Her father replied, “There’s no use in going. They’ve never showed up once in the past ten years.”

It appeared as if they were talking in cross-purposes. The father was talking about her brother. There was no point in going because he never showed up once in the past ten years. But HongShim was talking about somebody she confidently knew WOULDN’T recognize because she’d changed so much over the years. “I’ve gotten so much prettier since THEN, so they WON’T.”

3. When did the Crown Prince Lee Yul marry? This wouldn’t have been a hush-hush event.

4. The poison.

I think the Crown Prince is wrong to blame the Kim family for his poisoning in Episode 1.

First, the poisoning couldn’t have been ordered by the CPrincess because she had no desire to kill him before their marriage was consummated. His death would have exposed her adultery and her illegitimate unborn child so she needed him to be alive until their First Night together.

There were signs that the CPrincess had no part in the scheme. She was upset that the medical doctor hadn’t found a cure for his illness. When she visited him at his sick bed, she pleaded with him to wake up because her life was in “his hands”. Of course, she could have been lying again. But she wouldn’t have angrily accused him of feigning illness to get away from his marital duty. Also, she was desperate enough to humiliate herself going to his room and issuing that ultimatum to sleep together.

Fact is poisoning LY wasn’t on her agenda until she had sexual intercourse with him. She reminded me of a black widow. 🕷

Second, the poisoning couldn’t have been ordered by Minister Kim. He had no motive. The status quo had been working for him. He had a son-in-law who was his CP, so why would he kill him? It would have been logical for the Minister Kim to plot to kill LY AFTER his daughter confessed to her affair and pregnancy, but not BEFORE then. His daughter’s confession caught him off-guard.

Furthermore, Minister Kim couldn’t have ordered the nurse killed. Sure, MooYoon killed the nurse but I doubt that Minister Kim had anything to do with it because he didn’t know that his personal ARROW had been used for the assassination. Had he known that the nurse was killed by the same arrow that HE used for hunting, he wouldn’t have given them as a gift to Lee Yul at the feast. At that time, he assumed that the Lee Yul was disappointed with his gift because Lee Yul stared at HIM after suspiciously. Later that night, he brooded over that incident, and wondered, “Why did he look at me like that?”

Third, it couldn’t have been the queen either. Although she was my first suspect because she knew Lee Yul’s favorite food and was told that the Lee Yul’s food activated the poisoning, I doubt she could have plotted this. She was a silly woman given to superstitions. Her weapon of choice seemed to be talismans instead of poison. Minister Jung told her NOT to do anything rash because the Crown Prince was wasting away anyway and was going to die soon.

Fourth, when the nurse was killed by MooYoon, she was about to say the name of the person who ordered the poisoning. She was saying, “It’s cruel but…” To me, this implied that the poisoner was somebody who was close to LY and shouldn’t have betrayed him. We assumed it was the Crown Princess and ignored the fact that there were OTHER people close to Lee Yul who would have wanted him dead.

5. I still don’t understand why CPrincess asked her father if HE shot MooYoon when she had been the one who ordered Beom to do so. When he denied it, she urged him to investigate the queen instead. 🤦‍♀️ She caused an incident because she wanted MY to stay but she blamed others. How downright scheming!

6. “I do not have a son…” We know he does because in the same episode we have SooJi, the friend of JeYoon, proudly declaring to HongShim that he was the son of the Minister Kim. Sigh. I really wish this writer would be more precise in her/his use of words. How hard was it to write that Minister Kim didn’t have a COMPETENT son he could rely on and the CPrincess was all he got?

  1. I am only now perusing old posts you have made from the start of the drama. I joined in the conversation mid drama because I was playing catch up…I didn’t watch live till mid way coz I was busy with another drama. Anyway, you probably worked it out already re the first riddle and how LY had that ‘aha’ moment about the pregnancy. The word he filled in to complete JY’s boxes was ’embrace’ so I gather he pieced all the bits together about the CPss wanting to sleep with him, her missing all those medical examinations – she was pregnant with another man’s baby. It would explain why she suddenly seemed so interested in “embracing” him when she had probably shown zero interest before. Moot point now. The end is nigh. Can’t watch live so will have to read recaps. Hubby has been complaining that he’s a KDrama widower, so I need to reprioritize my life and keep to more sensible sleeping habits. 😳

  2. I’m out of town but I’ve scheduled posts (mainly fan service with Kyungsoo/WonDeuk’s gifs) to be released so you ladies can post your reactions if you want.

  3. i think she’s just talking about when she lived there as a child, that it was over 10 years ago, 16 is still over 10 years ago. she addresses her dad’s objection about that, so he then raises another one, that her brother wouldn’t turn up.

well if cpss kills the prince, it seems no one knows she had never slept with him. i didnt feel she was that evil, but well she was desperate.

perhaps she wanted to mislead her father into not suspecting she was the one who arranged the shooting.
