Do yourself a favor and run away from this episode.

Just re-watch Episode 9 and then watch this show next week an hour or two before Episode 11. There’s nothing much to see here and I can easily summarize the events in this episode in two words. Flashback and Lawsuit.

She has flashbacks and he begins a lawsuit.

But if you must read this spoiler, here’s my contribution to Fake News for the week.

************************************

We already know from the preview that they are going to break up…errr…I mean, get married. While they’re watching soccer on TV,

he receives a call from his brother. He googles the news and sees the engagement announcement.

She reads it and of course, she exclaims him, “Ooh! What’s that? You won an award!” She’s so happy that she rushes out to buy him a cake for the happy occasion.

He tries to stop her, saying a cake is too expensive and the ring she gave himl is enough for him.

But she insists. She runs away and finds a phone booth. She calls up everybody on her FriendBook: her brother, her manager, but only her BFF answers the phone.

Meanwhile our hero WH searches for her everywhere because he forgot to tell her that he wants a strawberry cake with extra layer of whipped cream.

“Hajimaaaaa!!!! I’m allergic to chocolate cake!” he yells to the empty shore.

When he finds her, she’s about to get inside BFF’s Audi.

They exchange sweet goodbyes, and BFF and YJ both drive away to nearest 24/7 bakeshop. She’ll be back soon.

hahahaha.

To continue in a more serious mode now…

Why is Unnie always the last to know??

First, she finds out that Donsaeng helped YJ escape. and she threatens to send him to the US for his studies. Then, she finds out that YJ is on her way back. I’m sure she’s ecstatic to hear that. Later, she finds out from paparazzi friend that something’s afoot with the Kanghan and Choego group. This is probably the best news of the day for her.

Brother is uploading something on his media. He captures BFF and YJ coming home.

YJ feels faint and slips, but not before grabbing hold of BFF’s arm. BFF conveniently sees couple ring.

In her room, YooJung has hot flashes… I mean… flashback.

Like this one. (lol. I’m gratuitously putting his smiley face here to lighten the mood.)

In his room, WooHyun spot his volunteer application.

Yeah, go ahead! You run away again from this, boy, and I’m going to hunt you down in whatever corner of whatever continent you’re volunteering at.

As if it wasn’t tough enough for him, he receives a letter from his mom. I don’t know what it says but he’s definitely not dancing for joy. Maybe she’s abandoning him again??

Meanwhile, she eyes her unlucky ring.

And she removes it. lol. Getting a refund for this unlucky ring must be the last thing on her mind.

Unnie comes to check on her. They have an emo moment. She’s only has two things to say here, really. Either she’s saying that she’s fed up with WH and is willing to forget him now that she’s discovered his association with the Choego and Kanghan groups OR she’s saying that she’s willing to forgive him no matter what.

Following morning, media explodes. See all the SNS pops-ups?

And the two losers are still at it, commenting on the sad affairs of YJ’s love life. I don’t understand Korean but I’m 100% sure that they were talking about fart. Crude!

And in his clinic, he too sees his patients reading up on the news so he escapes to the rooftop where he keeps company with her in spirit. See? He can run but he can’t hide from her.

The two sides regroup. Unnie calls her people to reassess damage. Look! One of them didn’t get the memo to wear black!

He meets with Wannabe Wife at coffee shop and tells her to run away with him… or jump off the cliff to her miserable death.

His Stephyung receives a report. I don’t know. It looks bad judging from the way he drops open his jaw, like his loan is due and they have to foreclose the clinic. But hey! It can be good news, too, like he won the lottery. His acting is seriously bad.

Meanwhile Unnie watches YJ is a frenzy cleaning the house. She does this, right? Sweep the floor when she’s upset.

I like Unnie. I’m sure she wants to whack that Wannabe Wife with a golf club for doing this to her precious YJ.

Wannabe Wife and Shady Reporter meet up. She pays him more money.

Unnie now has her flashback moment. She replays conversations with WH and YJ telling her that they were willing to give up everything for each other.

Somewhere else, WH drinks with StepHyung. For goodness sake, stop dithering, both of you! StepHyung, tell him about the letter. And WH, you know what to do….

lol. Apparently not.

Next scene: he’s still drinking! This time with YJ’s dad at his restaurant. Stop drinking, WH, and do something!!! Like put up a fight against your father and Wannabe Wife. Come on, dude!

If he keeps this up, I see cirrhosis of the liver in his future.

She talks to her plant. Another flashback. This time of the accident which killed her mother. She was alone in the house, flames quickly engulfed the room, her mother grabbed her, but beam fell on top of mother. Typical kdrama fire.

She sees his etching on the chair, “To a Good Person.” She sleeps.

Brother wakes her up and tells her some news. Maybe it’s his departure?? I don’t know. This is a convenient time to explain actor’s exit from the show, anyway.

Meanwhile, he meets with his lawyer. (There you go!) They’ll file a suit.

He meets with YJ’s dad again to drink. He might be telling him that he decided to go after his dad. He’ll probably be needing YJ’s dad’s testimony later on.

More flashback for YJ. She sees dad’s guitar and remembers dad’s grief at the funeral home.

I don’t know the context but Unnie and Wannabe Wife meet again somewhere. Hmmm… Why is Wannabe always with her secretary? Shouldn’t they just marry each other? I kinda feel sorry for this minor character. He’s always there like a shadow but he gets few speaking lines. Oh well….

He’s prepping his lawsuit against daddy dearest. He notices ring on his finger and decides to put it away. I hope he’s only putting off wearing his ring as a reminder that he needs to work harder to get her back soon. Until he figures out a way to win her back, he won’t wear the ring.

I’m sure just as he puts his ring away, SHE will put hers on. That’s how these kdramas work.

The scenes are choppy because there’s a directorial attempt to make their actions mesh together. Like, she tosses and turns in bed and he’s hard at work with his lawyer.

She jumps up from her bed as if deciding on something, and he’s going over paperwork.

Then we see her waiting for him to arrive. lol. She’s wearing her ring again!

In another flashback, she remembers what she told him at the beach. She said, “I won’t leave you to be lonely again.”

And so she waits for him. When she decides to drive off, he arrives.

They miss each other in a kdrama second.

The end.

See? That’s why I said this whole episode could be summed up as flashback and lawsuit. But hang in there y’all until next week. Just focus on the Episode 9’s last 15 minutes instead of the gloom-and-doom in this episode.

Good thoughts and good vibes!

  1. Cake! More cake! Soju! More soju! You’re so funny! 😂😂😂.

Aigoo! That looks like a lot of reminiscing and waste of airtime ☹️ Better have a good getting back together scenes to make up for this whole episode.

So we got our hajima. Will it be the last one with WH having his overseas mission application.?

It’s always a sign isn’t it when they say ‘trust me’, ‘let’s not hate each other or push each other away’.

It’s really YJ’s fault for stopping WH to say it to her 😂 She brought this on by herself 😂

    Thanks for the mad-cap! 😘

  2. Thank you for the screen caps, @packmule3. This post is enough to satisfy me until subs are 100%. I’m not going to watch Ep. 10 raw or partially subbed as I usually do; it’s just not worth the grief.

So much for pausing to think before you act. But if lovers were reasonable, all rom-coms would be one-hour specials. May I add one more word to your summary of Ep. 10? Flashback, lawsuit and limerence.

Limerence—that obsessive, sometimes one-sided state of infatuation—is woven throughout the series. Woo-Hyun’s mom thrives on it but repeatedly marries unwisely. Kang Hye-Joo appears to suffer from it as her fixation on saving her place within the conglomeration shifts into an obsession with Woo-Hyun. And our Milk Couple have fallen into the ocean of each other’s hearts without the resolute trust of a mature relationship.

Misunderstandings between lovers makes me anxious. I get that such conflicts drive almost every romance ever but they just make me queasy. Until I started watching K-dramas last year, my rom-com diet was neatly packaged into easier-to-digest movies. I’ve had to build up my resilience to have my your heart squeezed over eight+ weeks (or more, in the case of C-dramas!)

  3. This is the only that put wide smile in my lip for your fakenews recap. Other than that I am depressed in this episode, why they didn’t put more extra work to put more extra scenes other than flashback. Honestly, I don’t mind with flashback, but putting the same scenes or information for me, it’s just boring for me. they shoud give me other flashback conversation/scenes that we never seen it before. It should be worth scene to put it there for me. Maybe because the beach date scene was taken before that they didn’t had more scenes to put in this episode I guess, but come on PDnim, you could take more scenes that worth to put in this episode. They don’t want put extra work for this episode. I am really disappointed with this episode. It’s a big turn down for me.

  4. Thank you for this madcap!
My grumpy old feeling about yesterday episode suddenly vanished.

Still, I am not going to rewatch this episode.

Thanks again for lighten up my mood.

  5. no need to watch Episode 10….it all flash back….the only thing that worth watching was the flash back on the dad…..

  6. You’re welcome! It was an annoying episode but oh well! We can’t always expect a lovely show all the time.
Btw, thanks for waiting. New posts are put in my spam box for approval and I didn’t check my notification till now. 😀

  7. Thanks, @angelangie.

I think we’re all frustrated with this episode. Great minds think alike. 😂

  8. Now I’m wondering if I should watch Ep 10. Seems like a lot of you are put off by the lack of new material. And so much angst! I’m not sure if I want to put my heart through the wringer.

  9. I’m watching it right now with subs and posting good thoughts later.

I’ve to dig hard to find a few “happy thoughts” in here. 🤪

  10. I was very busy finishing my work before leaving work holidays if I am already free yuuuuupi and I have not seen this episode yet and after reading you I think I will not see it.

Thank you and I hope the situation improves for our protagonists.

  11. Hey, watch it. It’s good for you. pwahahaha.

  12. Same here.

Every time I hear the lead characters declare something affirmative, like “let’s walk on a flowery path” or “let’s live happily every” and it’s only the 10th episode, I know there’s a reversal of fate coming.

I wish writers would stop that. They’re making me fatalistic, pessimistic and neurotic. hahaha.

  13. Ooohhh. I love that word, limerence.

It’s a good thing that the VIKI subbers were quick to sub Ep 10. Having subs greatly decreased my frustration with the show.

I don’t think I can stand watching more than 16 episodes of a kdrama. It’ll be better for me to just watch it when it’s all over.
