Love O2O: Episode 8 Highlights

Last episode, Weiwei begins to fangirl her online husband. This episode she begins to realize that the connection she feels for him in the game has developed into something more in reality.

This is to be expected, of course. She’s been corresponding with Naihe for several months now and she looks forward to their everyday interaction in the game. Without being distracted by outward appearances and the physical aspect of a relationship (or skinship, lol), she’s able to focus on the “substance” of Naihe.

For instance, she appreciates his efforts to make her happy. She realizes that he constantly watches out for her and fights for her. She likes that he’s reliable and cool under pressure. She’s amused by his tight friendship with the guys. She admires his brilliant mind. Even his lame jokes, she begins to understand.

But there is so much more to learn about him in real life. Seeing him and talking to him in person will flesh out the “husband” she’s gotten to know – and idealize – online. Unfortunately, she doesn’t find out she wants to meet him offline until he disappears.

These are the highlights in this Episode:

1. Her sketch of Yixiao Naihe in her diary

The young pupil that she tutors sees her drawing of YX in her diary and exclaims that she’s such a fangirl. “Last time your eyes sparkled when I mentioned Xiao Nai. You’re the same with Yixiao Naihe.”

Weiwei protests, “I look up to Xiao Nai professionally. I worship him. As for Yixiao Naihe…he’s a good friend.”

Of course, she’s bonded with Yixiao Naihe given the amount of time she spends with him. But this is the first time I think that she’s put into words how she feels about him.

It also puts into perspective her admiration for Naihe. In the last episode, she was continually gushing over his skills. But she wasn’t fawning over him or flirting with him. She was praising him with the sincerity of a friend.

2. The In-Game Couples Battle Championship

Nai strategizes and offers to take out the weaker one of the opponents, Zhengshui’s wife. I like that he’s ruthless…err… single-minded. When playing with Zhengshui couple, he doesn’t let his emotions get in the way. He merely sees them as obstruction to their advancement in the game, and therefore must be beaten.

Weiwei is as bloodthirsty…no.. goal-oriented as he is.

She agrees, “It’s good that you take her out. It’ll be faster that way.” She warns him, however that Three Witches will complain that Nai is picking on a girl.

Nai dismisses her concern, “Does killing them require an explanation?” He moves forward and the other couple tense up. Weiwei offers to take them on by herself; he can give a hand if she’s in trouble.

When she steps forward to begin the combat, the couple disappear.

“Are we that scary?” she asks. Nai corrects her, “They must be more terrified of you.”

She charges at him, miffed at his little joke.

lol. I like how he teases her now.

They keep winning their battles. But for the final round, he’s going to a business dinner so he gives her heads-up that he’ll be late.

3. He smiles at her!!

On a side note: In my imaginary world, I can imagine us doing this: @Phoenix, @agdr03, and me (my crazy 20-year-old me). When we see this actor in real life, we’ll probably freak out too.

And if our own car is also waiting out there, I suggest we block his car. I’ll drive. I’m a fiend driver…but I suck at parallel parking. That’ll be a good excuse to accidentally create traffic and block his car. hahaha

Weiwei: Was he looking at me? Was he? Did you see that? Did you?

My response:

4. Friend #1’s Wishful Thinking

His friend observes, “By the way, that was the Department Belle standing across the street from us. Has Cupid been favoring me lately? I’ve been running into her a lot. Does this seem like the beginning of something?”

Nai snaps back, “Even if it is, it has nothing to do with you.”

Nai could have said it this way:

Or this way:

Image result for dude gif

But I like Nai’s sarcasm best.

He’s jealous. He’s telling his buddy that yes, they are seeing bumping into her more often, but it has nothing to do with FATE favoring Friend #1. His friend can imagine all he wants but he’s the real reason they’re bumping into her. He’s the one destined for her.

Remember, I make a distinctions between fate and destiny.

Fate: unseen forces working to create uncontrollable future
Destiny: man creates the opportunities for himself and carves his own future.

5. After Nai doesn’t show up for the final round

Awwww… she’s moping. I guess, absence does make the heart grow fonder.

Moping Evidence 1

Moping Evidence 2

Moping Evidence 3

Her cup overflows. I hate it when this happens.

Moping Evidence 4

Hallucination

Naihe does a lay-up in full wushu regalia. This is hysterical.

6. After Nai wakes up

He asks for the time and when he learns that it’s 5pm, he tells his friends to log in and inform Weiwei. The thought that she waited for him all night worries him.

Phew! I thought the writer was going to throw us for a loop with an amnesia trope. See how much I’ve detest kdrama plots?

Edited to add video of “hitting the bumper”

@Agdr03, Don’t be drinking near your laptop when you watch this.

Ohhhhhh I love this scenario! 😁 But I think instead of the car blocking, @Phoenix will personally block him and me second. 🤣 You will be the sensible one to talk to Yang Yang and say ‘sorry about my girlfriends, this is our first time seeing you so they’ve totally lost it. Would you like to have coffee with us?’. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Nai snaps back, “Even if it is, it has nothing to do with you.”

I love his sarcasm to the point of nastiness. LOL! He really does know how to cut off someone. 🤣

Awww WeiWei, thinking of him all the time and missing him. That’s a sign alright. 🙂 And XN’s first thoughts were of her. 😍

  2. I’ve seen your reply from my email inbox but it’s still not here in the browser.

Are you really going to hit his front bumper? 🤣

  3. 😀

Because I deleted my reply. But okay, I’ll post the YT. Wait a sec.

  4. 🤣 🤣 🤣

That man totally deserved it! 🤣 🤣 🤣 Grandma was cool! 😎

  5. But if the airbags deploy, YangYang and his driver might get hurt (lol. his face!!) so never mind, I won’t hit the bumper.

    Change tactics.

  6. True! Not his face!!! 😧

Let’s wait for @Phoenix , see what she thinks we should do to stop Yang Yang from getting in his car. 🙂

I haven’t really moved on from any drama but I might start on Touch Your Heart. See how it is. 🙂 But I still need to catch up on sleep. LOL!

  7. okay.

I”m watching Haechi right now and I’ll probaby check out this Boss and Me that @phoenix watched earlier. The hero’s name is Feng Teng. Isn’t that the name of the CEO of the company developing Nai’s new online game?

  8. Yes, I think so. The actor that played Feng Teng though is from another famous drama from what @Table22000 said. I can’t remember though.

I checked out the actor and actress on Boss and Me and I’m not into him. LOL! The girl is pretty. 🙂

I’m sort of stuck. I really am taking my time in watching another drama. 🙂

  9. Are you sleeping soon? I have another hour here at work.

    Good night! 🙂

  10. Hello, i enjoy reading your blog because it brings back my enjoyment while watching this wonderful show.

    SPOILER!!!
As for the Boss & Me drama, yes they are related. Feng Teng’s company is the one who invested on Nai’s game. Both couples will be friends, and their kiddos as well 😍 The last part is from the epilogue of the novel, not drama though. The epilogue stories are so cute! You all should try to read them 😉

  11. Well, hello there! Where have you been? Do join us. We’re having so much fun with this show. I find myself grinning at their dating experiences (and re-living MY own dating woes).

Thanks for the spoiler. So the boss in the “Boss and Me” is the investor in Nai’s company, eh? Small world. lol. Are there any sequels?

Where can we get these books in English? What are the titles?

Just keep on “spoiling” us. I don’t mind knowing the details in these epilogues you mentioned.

  12. Good morning!

I called a “snow day” yesterday and worked from home again. The main roads were passable but most of the residential streets weren’t cleared till around lunchtime. My husband didn’t shovel our driveway to give a handful of neighborhood kids a “bunny hill” for sledding. Kids! They really make you feel young.

  13. Good afternoon?

Awww nice! I’m sure the kids enjoyed it 😊

We’re planning a ski trip too with my cousins this July. It will be our second time in the snow. Last time my youngest was not even 2 years old. Hopefully we get to enjoy it. I don’t like the cold 😄

  14. I wish I could that I was impervious to the cold but… I love the cold weather but it doesn’t agree with me anymore. I like it because I can bundle up. I can “control” my body temperature by adding layers, scarves (My neck is made for scarves!) and socks.

But the hot weather? There’s only so many layers of clothing I can remove before I’m down to skin and bones (and scaring the horses). Plus, skin cancer….sigh. I don’t understand the fascination people have for white skin. It’s really high maintenance.

  15. You can go to https://hui3r.wordpress.com/gu-man/ and look for Come & Eat, Shan Shan. There are 3 chapters for joint epilogue with Wei Wei. It would be better to read Shan Shan’s novel first though, so you can understand the characters better. The epilogues are quite funny, I’m sure you’ll love them.

Love O2O is also based on a Chinese novel One Smile Is Very Alluring and you can read the full English version in https://dreamsofjianghu.ca/just-one-smile-is-very-alluring/table-of-contents/. There are some scenes that were not included in the drama, especially the steamy scenes (when Nai was swimming, or when Wei Wei was trying out her wedding dress 🙂

    Enjoy!

  16. hahaha. I was wondering about that swimming lessons. What happened? Were those scenes edited out? Not approved by the Cultural Minister? 😀

Btw, maybe you can enlighten me. What was wrong with his swim trunks? I didn’t get that. She was embarrassed when she saw him in those trunks. Were they too skimpy? too old-fashioned?

They aren’t the ones I see worn by kids nowadays so I think I missed the point. His trunks are more like beach shorts or surf shorts.

My sons wear those speedo jammers.

Thanks for the links! I’ll post them on the blog so it’s easier to find later.

  17. Nai did naughty things to Wei Wei while trying to teach her how to swim, ifyou know what i mean 🥰

  18. hahaha. @agdr03 would love to hear all about this, I’m sure. She’ll be bummed out that it wasn’t included in the script. Or maybe it was filmed, but the footage ended up on the cutting room floor. That wouldn’t surprise with the censorship.

  19. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! 😍😍😍

I wanted to reply to a few things but that ‘naughty things’ that XN did to WeiWei while trying to teach her how to swim caught my eyes and now my mind boggles. 😂😂😂 I have to read that part now! Thanks @weynema ! ☺️

You know me so well @packmule3 ! 😂😂😂 I’ll read that part tonight before going to sleep. Initially I was wondering what’s the big hype about swimming and the costume. I thought XN’s swimming shorts were decent enough and not really too short for him but obviously for WeiWei it was 😂 If it was trunks then ok, I’ll understand her shyness.

I thought swimming would be nice to get close to him physically (rawr) and now we know that it’s actually in the book! Bummer it wasn’t shown. I would have had a fiesta/field day if it was included. 😄

    Me now: thinking……..🤔

  20. I have always hated the cold weather since I came to Oz but now I love it. So true that if it’s cold you just put on more layers of clothes and you’ll be warm enough. I love scarfs too 🙂 But in summer, you need to have aircondition all the time or otherwise you wouldn’t want to move at all. heheheh

I have started reading on the link that @Wynema gave so I am enjoying that 🙂
