Love O2O: Episode 11 Highlights

Without further ado.

1. No one’s concentrating on the game.

The girlfriends are studiously ignoring his presence beside Weiwei but the guys on the court notice that Nai’s sitting with the “department beauty.”

WW: The score is tied.
NH: Don’t worry. When they stop looking up at the bleachers (meaning at them), the score gap will widen again.

Haha. He knew he was going to distract his teammates! Was it really that important for him to sit beside Weiwei that he was willing to risk losing the basketball game? Their last game in college?

🤷‍♀️ I can’t complain about his priorities then.

Can I just mention that I like the way he leaned in to whisper to her? I love it when a couple talks to each other privately in a very public venue, especially when they’re face to face, eye to eye, nose to nose? Who cares what the other people are thinking?

And did he say, “Hi”? Wow! I think this is the only English word I heard in 30 episode. 😂 In kdramas, I can frequently pick out the English and the Konglish words in the dialogues.

I also thought it was funny that Weiwei gave herself a pat on the back for being more calm and composed than her friends. lol. Perhaps at THIS encounter. But remember her first encounter with Nai? Didn’t she cover her face with a book?!

2. Introducing her to his friends

Compared to the girls who were speechless when Nai sat with them, the guys openly poke fun at Nai. “Has the forever-single guy finally embraced social norms?”

I like that the teammates can treat him like one of the guys and give him a hard time for showing up with his girlfriend.

Weiwei introduces herself and she explains, “I’m Luwei Weiwei” when the boys don’t quickly make the connection between her and Nai’s online spouse. I was hoping that it would have been Nai to introduce her to his friends because I wanted to hear how he identified her. Would he have called her girlfriend? Or wife as a joke?

The guys ask who took the initiative in the courtship and they assume it was Nai judging by the way he went up to the stands before the game ended. He exchanged his usual cold and aloof demeanor for the Besotted Boyfriend look when he staked out his position beside her.

The guys say, “The legendary poise of the Great Master was nowhere to be found.” His buddies say it doesn’t matter who did the chasing because they’ve been together for a long time.

Friend #1: The two of them have long been under the cover of warehouses.

“Under the cover of warehouses?” the guys don’t get what he means and Nai clears his throat.

Friend #1: Why’d you clear you throat? Afraid of being exposed?
NH: It’s “under the cover of darkness.” Also don’t use that phrase carelessly.

Weiwei smiles. NH is warning Friend #1 to watch it probably because the idiom implies that Nai and Weiwei were sneaking around and doing something suspicious. Ever the gentleman, he’s protecting her reputation.

They invite her to join them with the team dinner and Nai answers, “I’ll go with you guys. She’s not coming.” The guys protest.

Guys: You’re only half of the spotlight today. The star is our department beauty. What’s wrong with her having dinner with us?
NH: I don’t have any objections. You guys can ask her then.

The guys are probably just needling him. They think he’s possessive. He doesn’t want her to go with them because they’re all guys. But Weiwei turns them down because her friends are waiting for her. She turns to leave.

3. The wrist grab

She’s running away from him again but this time he anticipates her move and

catches her wrist before she runs away. 🙂 Nice catch.

NH: What time do you usually go study?
WW: 7:30 am.
NH: Sounds good. I’ll be waiting for you downstairs tomorrow.

Then she turns to leave again but he hasn’t released her wrist yet so he tugs her back.

NH: Weiwei.

NH: Remember to save me a spot.

WW: Okay.

Who needs Dirty Dancing when there’s a Wrist Grab that announces to the whole world just as effectively and decisively that Nai and Weiwei are now a couple? 😍

Nai tells Friend #1 that he’ll have to pay for dinner because he spent all his money for lunch with Weiwei. Friend #1 moans that he’ll be stuck with Nai’s bragging about having a girlfriend from now on. Nai’s probably doing this to rub it in that he once mistook their accidental meetings with the Department Beauty as a sign that they were meant for each other.

4. The discreet girl talk

The girls think that Weiwei’s been keeping the romance with Nai a secret from them for six months. She protests that she only started dating him less than half an hour ago.

The girls have their priorities straight. They ask, “When was the first kiss?” This would have been my first question, too. See? Girls hone in on the important salacious details. Nai’s friends would never have dreamed of asking him about their intimate moments.

They can’t believe that she just met him and he’s already wrapped her around his finger. Haha. Shouldn’t it be the other way? SHE has HIM wrapped around her finger? She can make him do whatever she wants… but she doesn’t know this yet.

But she defends herself. Next time, she would definitely hold out until the next day. Valiant effort, girl!

The girls ask her whether he knows that she’s so into him. Without blushing, she concedes, “Don’t worry about that. In the game, I’m also smitten by him. He won’t be taken aback by it in real life.”

Weiwei suddenly remembers that she forgot to ask Naihe about the video offer. It totally slipped her mind. The combined charisma of both Naihe and Nai was too much for her too handle. She walks away from her friends in a daze.

XaioLing comments that it’s true then that love lowers a person’s intelligence, while Erxi gushes that “Master Xaio is too incredible. Even the speed at which he pursues someone is like that of a blitzkrieg.”

5. Sister-in-law

Meanwhile Friend #3 is upset that Nai is dating a real girlfriend and two-timing their online sister-in-law. He confronts Nai.

F3: Nai, I need to talk to you. You’ve got a girlfriend in real life, the department belle, at that. As your buddy, I’m happy for you. But have you thought about Sister-in-law in the game? What about Sister-in-law in the game?!

Nai realizes that the other guys had set this up and Friend #3 is clueless. So he joins in the deception.

Nai: Then, I’ll have to keep them both.

F3: Nai, are you serious?
Nai: I couldn’t be more serious.

F3: Nai…You’re really a womanizer.

lol. We haven’t forgotten Episode 2 when Nai refused to touch Yiran’s laptop because he was already a married man. The guys continue to tease Friend #3 and he slowly suspects something is amiss so he asks Nai.

F3: What’s going on?
Nai: Ask Weiwei.

lol. I like how he refers Friend #3 to Weiwei for clarification. He’s telling Friend #3 that if he thinks that there’s a problem, he should go ahead and talk with the missus about it.

Look at that smugness.

6. Hacking again

At dinner, the guys ask him how did he win her? And he answers that it depends on talent. lol. He’s boasting again.

Friend #1 recounts that time when they happened to see Weiwei and he casually mentioned that something might be brewing between him and Weiwei. Nai shot it down, saying “even if something happened, it wouldn’t have anything to do with him.” So much jealousy, said Friend #1.

The guys praise Nai for winning their own department beauty because they would’ve been utterly humiliated if someone else from a different department snatched her. Yeah! Raise the flag, guys!

The ever loyal Friend #3 protests that Weiwei is only a Second Place Beauty, claiming that she’s not only a beauty but also a “master of pen and sword.” I don’t know what that expression actually means, but I’m guessing, he’s describing as talented and courageous.

The guys then gossip about the forum rankings of the campus beauties. While Weiwei is only the runner up in beauty ranking, she’s the winner of a more notorious poll, the Dangerous Girl ranking. Xiaoling’s boyfriend posits that Weiwei’s reputation is probably the reason she didn’t win the Campus Beauty award. She ranked “less innocent” than the Campus Beauty Yiran.

Nai has never heard of this slur on his girl’s reputation but as soon as he sees what’s going on, he takes action.

This was a cool moment so I took two screenshots.

Grim and tight-lipped.

Then, before everyone can finish taking a swig from their beer, he’s already hacked the forum and deleted the offending ranking.

lol. They think he’s upvoting/downvoting his girlfriend.

Friend #1 gets the laptop to see what he’s done.

He simply says “Why keep rankings that are based on such inaccurate data?” Fake news!!!

The site’s down and Friend #1 gives Nai a thumbs up.

Seriously, I don’t know if I should swoon because of his quick action or because of his hacking skills. Being a total computer dunce, I find CS guys dreamy.

7. That night, Weiwei can’t sleep either.

Isn’t there a superstition that when a person can’t fall asleep, it’s because she’s being talked about or she’s in somebody’s thoughts?

Anyway, Weiwei replays in her mind Nai’s response to her that there was never a time when they weren’t in that kind of romantic relationship.

8. Overnight in the hospital for Erxi

Erxi ends up staying in the hospital overnight. She thinks she’s got the stomach bug from eating Nai’s store-bought snacks. But Weiwei defends Nai. They’re all fine except for her so don’t blame everything on him. Weiwei thinks it’s because she drank too much of Sisi’s diet tea.

ER: Weiwei, you’re so pretty. No wonder you can nail The Legend down.
WW: What? It’s my winning inner beauty, okay?

She goes to borrow Erxi’s phone to call him up and say that they’re in the hospital. Then she finds him standing outside the hospital room. She’s embarrassed that he overheard them.

But the funny thing is last night, Nai himself boasted that he won Weiwei because of talent.  As good-looking as both of them, neither of them credited their physical appearance as reason for their attraction.

9. Brother-in-law

Weiwei worries that Nai overheard her boast earlier about her inward beauty.

WW: First day of dating, and I got exposed for being a narcissist. Even though I was only kidding around. What do I do now?  I urgently need  a solution.

Meanwhile in the back of the car, the girls wonder how Nai knew they were in the hospital. Xio Ling explains that her boyfriend met Nai earlier and spilled the beans. Then to their embarrassment, the girls realize that none of them had brush their teeth.

Erxi doesn’t think it’s okay to ride his car. But Sisi says it’s fine because he’s family now.

WW (thinking): Family? Aren’t you a bit presumptuous, Sisi?
ER: But it’s Nai’s car, we’re commoners.
WW: (quickly interrupting her) She’s right, he’s family.

The girlfriends giggle.

Nai: You haven’t had breakfast, right? Let’s get some food.
WW (thinking again): Nai is so sweet. He rescued me from that awkward moment.

The girls in the backseat decline. Probably because they don’t want to be beholden to him.

Nai:  We’re family now. Don’t worry.
WW (thinking again): I knew it! That sweet feeling was just an illusion.

The reason I find this conversation interesting is we see the big difference between the reactions of Weiwei’s girlfriends and Nai’s buddies. From the start, Nai’s friends easily accepted Weiwei into their fold. When she was introduced as the online spouse, the guys immediately teased her and felt at ease with her. Then, after the game when she was introduced to the guys, they rallied around her while joking at Nai’s expense.

On the other, Weiwei’s friends are still debating whether he’s one of them or not. He intimidates them and it doesn’t help that he caught them unawares. Weiwei cringes when Sisi considers him as family but all of Nai’s friends call her “Third sister-in-law.”

I think for the girlfriends, there are so many things to consider before they give their approval of Nai as boyfriend material whereas for the guys, they had a much simpler checklist. One, is she nice. Two, is she pretty. And three, does Nai like her.

10. Say thank you

The girls encourage Weiwei to extend their gratitude to Nai for his help that morning. “You have to thank him for three minutes!” they say before heading inside.

NH: Do you want to prepare?

WW: Prepare what?

NH: Didn’t they say three minutes? The countdown starts now.

lol. He’s expecting her to thank him. How?? With a kiss?? Yeah! In your dreams, dude.

WW: They were joking. You took them seriously?
NH: Oh! I guess I took them seriously by accident.

No, you didn’t. You’re just teasing her because you want to see her flustered.

WW: I’m going upstairs too. Bye bye.

She runs as usual and he smiles at her.

11. Study time

He doesn’t forget that she’s going to study that day. He allows her to sleep in and then calls her up.

You’d think that after spending the morning with her, he’d be content with that time spent together. But noooo, he still wants to meet her when she wakes up.

He knows of a place that’s very quiet. He’ll take her there, he says.

So he waits outside in his bike to spend the rest of the day together.

Awww…. He smiles the second she appears.

I didn’t know a bicycle depot can be so picturesque.

She doesn’t where they’re heading but she’s going with him.

I know this is a romcom so I’m letting this slide. But in real life, if this was your first date, I’d highly suggest that a) you let your roommate know where you’re going, b) have a designated time to check in with your roommate, (i.e., say 10 pm. You must call your friend to say that you’re fine.) and c) if you’re staying out longer, tell roommate.

This is a romantic smile.

So, Nai’s plan worked. Dating her, an open relationship is better than one hidden in the “cover of darkness.”

12 Comments On “Love O2O: Episode 11 Highlights”

  1. Haha..love that kissing the screen got.. I felt exactly like that while watching this episode😍😍😍 Episodes 10 and 11 are two of my favorite episodes in Love O2O.
Have not been able to comment in a while as I was travelling due to work, but have been reading all your Love O2O episode analyses. I’m still not over this drama, and I’m so happy that you are going episode by episode, sharing swoon-worthy moments and screenshots😊
By the way, I saw Love O2O the movie and did not like it. I thought most of the cute XN-WW moments were cut off and I did not like the hero at all. I know I’m biased in favor of Yang Yang, but that hero d8dnt really do justice to a character as awesome as Xiao Nai!

  2. 1 – It was all part of the plan. The basketball game was the last game of Master Xiao Nai so what better way to announce to the world that he’s graduating college by still winning that basketball game AND that he has a girlfriend! Love it! 🥰

I too like whispering couples hihihi, that last gif was too cute!

2 – I would have loved for Xiao Nai to introduce her as his girlfriend to the boys but I felt he gave way for the boy’s to get over their teasing of him (except that comment about doing suspicious things) of finally having a girlfriend. I love that he allowed WeiWei to answer whether she wants to go or not to the dinner.

Do you remember that he introduced WeiWei as his girlfriend to that man in campus while they were running. He called him Uncle.

3 – YEEEEESSSSS! That wrist grab was not rough at all. It was still gentle even for that second pull! I’d melt every time if I’m WeiWei and he gives me that look. 😍

4 – I don’t usually ask when was the first kiss to my friends but I’m like WeiWei, I’d answer right from when the love story started and get to the kiss at some point if it happened already. LOL.

    5 – That smug-ness is sooooo handsome!

6 – I couldn’t agree more that CS guys are dreamy. He’s always got her back and does not let anyone hurt her and it is true that it was a ranking on baseless data.

7 – That ‘since when aren’t we in that kind of relationship?’ was the equivalent of ‘ you had me at hello’.

8 – So true, it was the inner beauty/talent that attracted them both to each other in the first place, second is the outside beauty.

9 – I liked that he seconded WeiWei in saying that we’re family. He wanted to impress the girls and he really is intimidating anyway. I feel that because he is Lord Xiao Nai that the girls are all watching his every move, making sure that WeiWei is in good hands. But in saying that, it was sweet of him to be there because Erxi was released that day from the hospital. Points to him already!

10 – That was the first time he dropped her off by car. I wouldn’t kiss him if i were WeiWei too. hehehe

11 – Yes, she needed to tell someone where she’s going on their first date but we can let it go because they’ve been married for a few months already. 😉

Thank you for this. I am loving those gifs! 🙂

  3. You go, girl!
I’ll finish my episode-by-episode review first then I’ll watch the movie otherwise I might not do the movie justice and just be snarky all the time….
    Safe travels!

  4. This post of yours deserves a longer reply but I’m pressed for time right now. Will post later. 🙂

    Have a good evening!!

  5. @pm3: thanks😍 (and I meant ‘screenshot..precision goes for a toss when I type from my phone😞) I’m back now actually, though exhausted and a little feverish due to cold😓 (or maybe because of YY/XN😜😜😜).

Have been working from home today and took a break to watch the first 4 episodes of that C-drama “I Hear You” that your friend had recommended. It’s too early to say whether I like or dislike it, but the hero is not bad. (Confession – A large % of my drama liking criteria is dependent on whether I like the hero or not🙈🙈🙈).

I’ll wait for you to watch the Love O2O movie and start bitching, so that I can join in😜😜😜 I agree with @agdr03 though, the heroine was less shy and more capable and the CGI effects in the game were better. Those are the only good things about the movie, in my opinion.

@agdr03 Yang Yang fever is still on, it seems! I loved your point-wise comments 😍

  6. Your post is written like a true Yang Yang/Xiao Nai fan. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the President of the Fan Club.

    hahaha

Take care of yourself. Have meetings all day so have to put on my gameface aka warpaint aka my make-up. lol.

  7. Thanks @Phoenix , Yang Yang fever will stay with me forever, I will never drink any medicine to make it go away. 😉😍 Get better ok? Maybe watch some Yang Yang videos? ☺️ I’m with you on watching a drama if I like the hero.

Just dropping by before I go to sleep. My eyes and body are telling me that they need to sleep now 😂

    Have a nice day! 😉

  8. Thanks @Phoenix , Yang Yang fever will stay with me forever, I will never drink any medicine to make it go away. 😉😍 Get better ok? Maybe watch some Yang Yang videos? ☺️ I’m with you on watching a drama if I like the hero.

PS. Delete if it’s double post, my server is down it seems so I’m not sure if this reply poster. Thanks.

  9. Yang Yang fangirls: Just chatting with you about YY makes me feel a lot better! 🙂 In the middle of my hectic travels last week, I remember sitting at airports logging into my inbox to look at @pm3’s episode-wise YY comments and GIFs and going to my happy place 😀

…and in every shot of that Love O2O movie that I saw yesterday, I kept comparing that hero’s hair, getup, gaze, smile, walk, voice – in short, everything, with Yang Yang and getting irritated!!! Haha..

    Take care, girlfriends!!

  10. Hahaha @Phoenix , maybe I didn’t mind XN in the movie only because they bonded as good friends in Divas Hit The Road 2.

Otherwise I would have said the same thing as you. 😂

    Good afternoon! 😊

  11. @agdr03: I wouldn’t drink any medicine ever to make Yang Yang fever go away too 🙌. Some fevers are good😍😍

  12. Well said girlfriend! 😍 🙌 🙌 🙌
