Put Your Head on My Shoulder: Episode 19 Highlights

Gosh! This must be the most awkward episode so far in this series.

It’s as awkward as Luke going to the movies with his father.

But it’s the parents’ fault for:

one, dropping in on them unannounced. I never drop in on my children’s homes (even when they were staying in college dorms/apartments) without a heads-up. We call or text them first. It’s similar to knocking on bedroom doors first before entering.

Mom1: Momo!
WY: Your mom?
Mom2: Did they go out?
Mo: Your mom!
Mom1: They shouldn’t have gone out so early.
WY: YOUR mom!
Dad1: The doors are closed.
Mo: My dad?!!
Dad2: The sun is rising in the east. Sleep is a waste of time.
WY: My DAD!

two, presuming that a wedding is in the offing. Nooooo. My sons’ girlfriends are invited to join us for dinners, musicals, family events, vacations, and parties. But I don’t presume to know what their future plans are. I must admit: this is hard for me because I get attach to the girlfriends (since I don’t have daughters).

Mo: Ma!
Mom1: What’s wrong? While we’re talking, don’t interrupt.

I think he’s also unhappy that STM’s getting scolded.

His mom sees his face and knows he’s irritated so she stops planning the wedding.

She tells STM’s mom that they should ask for their children’s opinions.

Mom2: Xiao Yi, what’s your opinion? Just say it.
WY: We’re adults. We can make a good plan for ourselves.
Dad2: So, what do you mean?
WY: No renovations. No car. And no date.

Mom1: Well..Well…so when are you going to get married?
WY: It’s not our plan at the moment.

Look at Situ Mo’s reaction.

Dad1: I think they’re too young now. We have to take a long view about it. Alright. It’s about time. Get back to your work and your studies.

I think GWY worded that wrong. But given that this was his first time, too, encountering both parents at the same time, I can’t blame him. Fortunately, STM clarifies his answer.

Mo: Are we going to get married?
WY: Why not?
Mo: I’m just asking. You said…

WY: (flicking her forehead) Don’t think too much.

Huh??? What does that mean? Of course, girls worry about stuff like that. He says one thing to their parents, and another thing to her.

But I like the STM’s mom’s explanation. After texting with GWY all this time, she understands him better than the others. She explained to her husband that Gu WeiYi was just being exact, like a scientist. When he said that they had no plans at the moment, he meant that, literally, at that precise time and date, he’d no plans of marrying her. But he didn’t decline to marry Situ Mo in the future.

As for Gu WeiYi’s dad, I like his comment, too. He said, “I can tell that our son likes that girl. Because I found the way he looked at the girl is same with how he looked at a fine porcelain.”

In other words, he saw that Gu WeiYi’s intentions for Situ Mo were honest. He wasn’t going to take advantage of  Situ Mo’s innocence. He didn’t look like a lecher thinking of perverted thoughts when he was around her.

He looked at her like she was some sort of precious work of art.

And like this:

lol. They were in bed though because of his scheming.

The other highlight here is when Situ Mo had too much to drink at the party. The Actor friend is ready to bring her home but Gu Wei Yi arrives just in time to bring her home. GWY gets her bag from the Actor and puts it on.

Actor: Who are you?
GWY: Her boyfriend.

lol. It would have been better if he could to declare that he’s her fiancé or her husband.

Actor: Ahhh! The lovely contrast.

WY just stares at him and carries STM.

Actor: But you have to prove it to them.

Good point. I like the Actor here. He’s protecting Situ Mo, too. He just can’t assume that he is who he says he is.

WY: Situ Mo.
Mo: Mmmm. I’m not drunk.
WY: Who’s Yuan Yuan papa?
Mo: You.
WY: Who’s Yuan Yuan mama?
Mo: Me.

Any questions?

Mo: (tapping him) I’m going to throw up.

Awww. He holds her hair back while she throws up. I like that. Girls are very finicky about getting their hair dirty. This reminds me of the time Situ Mo had asked him for a hair band because her hair was dirty and he bought her one for a ridiculous price.

Mo: I can’t. I can’t spit it out. Help me.
WY: Huh?
Mo: I can’t spit out. Help me.

lol. Hey, dude! You shouldn’t put your face that close to a puking girl.

WY: I can’t help you.
Mo: Let Circle wait for a while. I’ll try to spit it out. (Is she jealous of Circle? Or worried?)
WY: Circle isn’t here.
Mo: What? Where’s Circle? Call him! (he flicks her head again)
WY: You’re drunk.

She vomits again while he holds her hair back and pats her back.

Mo: I was throwing up when you hit me. Please hit me. (She meant that patting her back actually helped her throw up.)
WY: Let’s go home.

He kneels down so she can hop on his back.

She starts to blow air into his ear.

Other highlights

Sleeping on his knee.

I thought it was funny that as the camera was panning GWY’s leg where STM’s head was situated, the background music was going, “Put your head on my shoulder….”

Picking up Situ Mo.

The whole day he kept on mentioning picking her up at her office. He said he have time to review with the Math Guy because he was picking her up.

He waited for her at the library. The Math Guy found him there and wanted him to ditch Situ Mo and help him instead.

The Math Guy snarkily asked if STM didn’t have legs. And Gu WeiYi didn’t like that joke.

Situ Mo said that she had to work longer and he said that it was fine. “Tell me when you finish and I’ll pick you up.”

She found out that there was going to be an office get-together after work so she texted him the place and he’d follow her in an hour to pick her up. “Wait for me” he said.

He spent that whole day practically keeping busy while waiting to pick her up.

I’m sure STM was glad that he did.

    Thanks @packmule3.

There’s this thing about sensitive ears. I believe that after GWY fed Mo Mo’s girlfriends, to show their appreciation, they whispered to him what her sensitive (erotic zone?) area was ie her ears.

Out of the blue, when she’s drunk, she starts blowing into his ear. I’m thinking he was putting 2-and-2 together and thinking the girl was in the mood and wanting to get him into the mood as well. Just look at that expression! LOL.

To his credit, he never took advantage of Mo Mo inspite of sharing home and bed.

Picking Up – I did not think of it but yes, he seems to have been waiting the whole day for pick up time, and then he finds he has to do it literally!!! LOL.

In actual fact, it’s not easy to pick up another adult ‘body’. I’m full of admiration whenever the actors make it seem effortless to just pick up an adult female (my husband claims that these guys do lots of training to get those pick up muscles!!!).

A couple of times, and later on in this show, guy picks up girl, the way we pick up kids with a hand under each armpit, and places her to sit up on something at his chest level. I always wondered how they did that. That’s about 80-100 lbs of weight!!

And picking up a person who’s a dead weight, from a bending position or from squatting to stand up with that weight in arms… I couldn’t do it even with a 5 year old child. My back or knees would give.

So I’m full of admiration over all the pick ups. So much the better if they come with witty pick up lines!! 😀

  2. I finished watching Ep 20 today and the epilogue showed the STM’s girlfriends divulging her erogenous zone to GWY. Too funny.

I agree with you: he needs work with his pick-up lines but at least he can pick her up bodily in his arms. I was worried about her undies showing though. Yikes!)

And oh! Did you notice? He carried her three different ways. I call the first one the “bridal carry” since that’s how the groom should lift his bride over the threshold of their honeymoon room. The second style is the “drunken Asian” carry because this is what they do in kdramas. And the last one is the “sack-of-potatoes” or the “caveman” carry.

Of course, I prefer the bridal carry. 🙂

I saw pictures of one of my sons doing squats with his girlfriend sitting on his shoulders. Now, I would never have thought of doing THAT when I was in college. (I’d be embarrassed!) But my son and his GF looked cute. I thought it would make a great engagement picture, too, but of course I didn’t say it aloud.

Oh dear, I didn’t notice more than 2 ways of being carried by GWY. He must have been trying to relieve the strain on the same muscles. LOL.
