Bitch Talk: Go Go Squid!

If you watched LoveO2O with me, then come watch “Go Go Squid!” I don’t know the ending but so far the story’s going okay. Just skip the tedious flashbacks and focus on the engaging couple.

It’s another one of those light and fluffy Cdrama romcoms which will serve as a nice counterpoint to the Hong Sisters’ “Hotel del Luna.”

I don’t know much about the actress Yang Zi. I tried to watch “Ashes of Love,” but her infantile voice and ditzy character in Episode 1 turned me off. I think her role here suits her Little Girl image better.

My review will be coming up soon. It’s Friday here and I’ve got a hot date with my hubby.

I’m also watching “The Story of Ming Lan” but I’m taking a short break from all the dramas of the concubines. BTW, who recommended this? Thanks.

I’m leaving you with these gifs to convince you to watch this with me. @agdr03 will appreciate the insider’s joke.

From Episode 8. Gifs from @kimp05’s tumblr.

He wants her to dig for his keys in his pocket as he has his hands full.

She checks his coat pocket.

She’s fumbling around so he gets annoyed.

He tells her they’re in his pants pocket. pwahahaha.

Woooh-kay.

Ignoring…ignoring…ignoring…ignoring wandering hands.

There! She pulled the rabbit…err…took the key out of his pocket.

Happy now?

  1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ those gifs is a guarantee to hook me into watching it! Let me watch the 2nd episode of BWGM then I’ll go to this one. I’ll put my comments later for BWGM too. Go Go Squid couple do look cute together. ☺️

Have a great date with Hubby! I’m about to do a Costco run.

    🌻🌷🌺

  2. Wow! Is this like Love O2O? Then I’m going to try watching it πŸ™‚

    Enjoy your date with hubby!

  3. I’m back from dinner out.

Yes. This is KINDA like Love O2O. I think Love O2O is overall lighter. The flashbacks here kill the mood but they’re helpful in understanding his character. Feel free to skip them. I can warn you anyway if there’s something important about the flashbacks.

But yes, there are lots of sweet moments between the two. I think the guy is a “closet” romantic but I’m only in Episode 6. lol. He begins treating her nicely beginning Ep 7 when they’re “forced” to have a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. I think she’s his first GF, Kinda like Weiwei’s Xiao Nai’s first GF.

According to his grandpa, husbands who are a lot older than their wives dote on their young wives. And he seems to dote on her … later on, judging from the gifs that I see. (I’m still on Ep 9).

The mom’s opposed to the relationship however because he’s 10 years older. hahaha. So he has to be meek when her mom’s there, knowing that her whole family is opposed to him.

Okay, let me finish my review now.

  4. β€œOkay, let me finish my review now.”

    Go Go PM3! πŸ˜‚

  5. Stop stop @nrllee.
    πŸ™‚
My husband just sent me into a tizzy.

He told me that we have a flower/garden show to attend to early tomorrow morning so now I’ve to prepare my garden hat, flower basket and pail, pruning shears, and other gardening tools.

But it’s already 11 pm!! Too late to look around in the shed. lol. I’ll have to wake up earliER tomorrow to get things ready.

  6. I recommended Minglan =) It’s a long one and slow at first, but her growth and seeing them as a power couple is pretty satisfying. I went from wanting her to end up with anyone other than him to realizing he understands her the best.

Go Go Squid has it’s funny and cute moments, but I find her to be too much of a child and everyone treating her like a child despite her high IQ very irritating. Li Xian is becoming very popular though and good for him, he’s doing a good job as HSY. Yang Zi does have many roles that are naive and childlike which is annoying, but I enjoyed Ashes of Love much more than I thought I would, it’s pretty entertaining overall and takes you on an emotional roller coaster.

  7. Ahhh, Thank you for rec’ing Minglan. I fastforwarded through it and I liked it. I’m still determining how to review it because it seems to have a natural start and end to each conflict she encounters and each conflict runs several episodes.

Hmmm. I’ll comment later. Have to go back to the sunflowers.

  8. Howdy! πŸ™‚

I still haven’t started on GGS but I have started on Hotel Del Luna πŸ™‚ I was on episode 2 already last night but I felt really sleepy again at 10:45pm. LOL. So I went to sleep. These days I can’t seem to fight my sleepiness.

  9. If HdL is too scary for you, we can do GGS together. I think this one is funnier. Just skip through the backstory if you want. I can explain them anyway here if necessary. πŸ™‚

You’re sleepy? You’re not expecting, are you? hahaha.

  10. I can’t afford to be expecting anymore πŸ˜„ I also don’t have the patience anymore. πŸ˜„ I just feel old now. 🀣

I didn’t mind the scary bits of HDL but the sightless ghost, scared me hahaha But it was ok. I didn’t mind it. The thing that I really liked was when MW said to CS ‘go now while you still can’, he left but he came back with the trash cart. I really love that scene. But I can only comment on what I see and not the hidden meanings of what’s happening. πŸ™‚ You and the others can give me the insights and I’ll enjoy it πŸ™‚

Sure I can definitely watch GGS with you πŸ™‚ I like that there seems to be lots of kissing and cutesies 😁 Are we watching Mr Fighting too? πŸ™‚

  11. Yes! Is Mr. Fighting out already??!

The wheelbarrow was a touching scene. When he ran away, I thought, “Rats! What a loser!” And then he came running with the cart — he was like Superman.

Come to think of it,.. Manwol didn’t know how to react too. She must have been flustered but she downplayed it. Hmmm… I have to watch that scene again.

I’m not sure about kisses in GGS. I think you’ll like the guy here. He’s a tsundere type but he’s kind with the girl. He knows she’s young still so he’s tender with her. You’ll see it when you watch it.

  12. Agree! He was like Superman as he was in a hurry to get back to her. MW was dumbfounded I thought. She had this look on her face like she couldn’t believe that someone came back for her.

I like guys who knows how to be tender and gentle πŸ™‚ I think there’s a few kisses because I saw it on instagram. hehehe

Mr Fighting will start airing tomorrow. Hopefully it will be on Viki.

So if ever, I will have my 3 dramas to watch. That will be enough for me. Oh I forgot about Rookie Historian. I have 4 dramas then. LOL! Wow! 😁

  13. Mr Fighing is on Viki? Netflix would have been better but ok.

I forgot about Rookie Historian too. It’s a good thing it’s summertime. Or I wouldn’t have time to watch and write about these dramas.

You’re right! She didn’t expect him to come back for her…as if it had been a looong time since somebody cared enough to come back for her. Interesting…I’ll have to remember that.

Nice. You just make me notice things I would’ve missed. . Thanks!

  14. No, I am not sure if it will be on Viki. Usually if it’s on Netflix, they do a teaser or they show what’s coming up, don’t they? Hopefully it will be on either one of them. It just makes it easier for me. πŸ™‚

All good πŸ™‚ I just really love the scene that’s why it stayed with me. Your right about the looong time that no one cared for her. πŸ™‚ I wanted to say too that Jin Goo’s voice is soooo deep. I never really noticed it before in The Clowned King.

  15. yes, I like his deep “manly” voice. He must have had voice training. I don’t speak Korean of course but he seems to enunciate his words very well. When Chansung speaks to Manwol, he can command her to do something because of his delivery.

What are the four shows you’re watching?

I hope this Mr. Fighting is good.

  16. I’m with you in liking his deep manly voice. πŸ™‚

The four shows that I’ll be watching will be Rookie Historian, Mr Fighting, Hotel Del Luna and Go Go Squid. πŸ™‚

Yes, let’s hope Mr Fighting is a good one.

Synopsis – The 45-episode romance drama tells the story of a washed up actor wanting to reclaim his popularity. Deng Lun takes up the role of Hao Ze Yu. It’s very ironic because the two can’t be more opposite. After all, Deng Lun is still savoring the height of popularity he’s achieved since Ashes of Love and he also starred in My True Friend this year. On the other hand, his character is a star considered to have past his prime. Hao Ze Yu first had his taste of stardom ten years ago after joining a popular talent competition where he was well-received by fans and became famous. However, it is true that like beauty, fame is also fleeting. The actor finds himself struggling in the entertainment industry.
