Flower Crew: Eps 13 & 14 Post Spoilers Here

This is the penultimate week. Time went fast because we were looking at this guy.

Will he or won’t he turn savage to keep her at his side? I’m curious to know his reason for voiding his matchmaking contract with Lee Soo. Is he going to cite Lee Soo’s breach of contract because he decided to have a queen selection? Is he going to say that Lee Soo was a fraud because he wasn’t who he said he was in the beginning? Or is he going to say that the contract was grossly unfair to Gaeddong as marriage to him would expose her to danger?

So many interesting reasons for him to terminate their agreement but, of course, he won’t say the real one.

You know the drill. Please post your spoilers, analyses, opinions, rants, raves and Kim MinJae fangirling here. Thanks.

  1. I for one want to see him use his marriage to “Yoon Seo-yeon” as his reason 🤭

Hoon: Why?! WHY?! BECAUSE WE’RE MARRIED! … technically. 😂

  2. “ Hoon: Why?! WHY?! BECAUSE WE’RE MARRIED! … technically.”

Yeah I want him to say that. She’s my woman…already. 😂. Heck, she already kissed me…twice. Beat that. 😂

  3. Stills of queen selection process has the girls in yellow and red… Guess that’s why yellow was the colour mentioned at the haberdashery. I think this is the standard garb for the girls.

    https://imgnews.pstatic.net/image/468/2019/10/28/0000583417_001_20191028154219199.jpg?type=w430

  4. Hmmm I think Hoon will use that ‘we’re married already’ reason much later like it will be the last resort for him.

I’ll add one more to those reasons you listed already, the agreement was Hoon will turn GD into a noble lady AND she will decide if she wants to be with Soo.

He’s already ignoring the agreement because things are ‘being prepared’ for GD to be a queen.

Fangirling bit – I’ll certainly miss KMJ’s voice after this drama ends. 😍☺️

  5. @nrllee Right?! I want to hear him say it and use that marriage card 🤭

So weird they chose yellow cause only a few people look good in that color. 😂 Imagine living in Joseon and being forced to wear yellow to impress the king when you don’t look good in it.

I’ll also miss Kim Min-jae. I’ll definitely watch his future projects. I’m tempted to watch his old projects after Flower Crew, but I don’t know. I’m not too excited to start his old dramas. I just hope he gets a new project soon.

  6. I don’t know about Korea but in China it used to be only royalty was allowed to wear yellow (reminiscent of gold). But I agree, yellow is not an ideal colour for the Asian skin tone.

  7. Ep13 – Hope
    The 2 face offs.
MH gives Soo one last chance to tell GD the truth. Hoon – it takes a second to lie, but forever to forgive. Soo threatens – To you I am just a client. Don’t make me be King 😮😬.
JiHwa moves the noblewoman testing arena to the Queen selection process, using GD’s brother as a tool to force GD’s hand. She actually calls GD by her real name “GD” as if to say “your ruse is up. I know you are his real sister”.

YoungSoo is in a quandary about being the mole for Lord Kang. Remembering how badly he was ill treated when he was ChilNom the beggar. “ChilNom is dead, he tries to convince himself, I am Ko YoungSoo now!” He bumps into a drunk DJ at the doorway of the Flower Crew agency. DJ babbles and then starts to retch, threatening to throw up on YS’s new garment just as MH returns. A villager sees the 3 of them – I think he’s the one the Assassin spoke to? YS dismisses himself. DJ reveals to MH that JiHwa knows everything and will force GD to enter the Queen selection process so MH has “lost” his chance at getting married to her. MH looks concerned, turns around and hurries off in search of GD.

They meet up where they kissed. He draws her into an embrace. O I like this exchange. She tells him that she has to enter the Queen Selection. And then she asks him, “can I just run away? Just forget everything and run away to a place where no one can find me?” He replies, “should WE do that? 😮😍. Where should WE go then?”. She smiles, “what about the sea? It’s big and wide. No one will find us there.” He goes along with the suggestion, “yes let’s go straight away.” He grabs her hand and makes to lead her away but is prevented from doing so because she doesn’t budge. He turns back, “you can’t move because you didn’t really mean what you said then. I know you can’t go anywhere if your brother is still here. Forget about going anywhere alone. I told you to stay by my side.” ❤️❤️❤️

Back at the agency, the boys concoct a plan to help GD through the Queen Selection, knowing that the stakes are infinitely higher and their lives are all at stake if their deception is revealed. MH takes GD to meet Lord Yun at his residence and he now becomes her “father” and she is to live there as his “daughter”.

Prime Minister is told by the Assassin that GD is Lady Yun and she has been turned into a noble woman by MH. He notes her name in the Queen Selection process and smiles that he has “found her” (the woman the King desires). He meets up with MH at a later time and they face off. Prime Minister threatens to reveal all and MH in turn parries with a threat to tell everyone about the Crown Prince assassination. Stale mate.

YS gets spotted whilst he’s shopping by the Officer who’s been hunting him. He denies knowing anything about ChilNom and goes into an anxiety fueled frenzied scratching again as his demons return to haunt him. He steals the booklet with all the profiles of the noblewomen (including Lady Yun) and hands it to Lord Kang. He deflects attention from the lack of detail about Lady Yun with the excuse that she’s new to the city. And reveals to Lord Kang that the “precious thing” the King left behind was MH (his “best friend”). Turns out his crime is that he killed people? He looked like he was forced to be an executioner of sorts? How does that work?? 🤔

JiHwa looks to be pining but hiding it well. DJ comes to her house at night to talk. He announces “a war” as he tells her he will do his utmost to ensure that she is disqualified from the Queen selection. She coldly attests that she will NOT run to him (in the courtesan house) even if she were eliminated. He replies that her disqualification would enable him to chance upon her in the streets (as she won’t be Palace bound). He gifts her with a new pair of shoes (first selection is tomorrow) and gives her his best wishes nonetheless, “I hope you will not get hurt as you walk that thorny path.” She looks touched.

MH proposes to GD. I love this interchange as well. You need to watch it to get the full impact. She accepts and promises to reject the King’s proposal and return to MH because she’s already “taken”.

Day of first selections for Queen Selection. JiHwa decides to wear her own shoes and not the ones DJ gave her the night before. All the candidates arrive with their helpers/maids bar GD. GD tells JH she better keep her promise this time. MH has arranged for YS to sneak in as a eunuch to help GD. The ladies are watched constantly by the eunuchs who grade them and YS swings the votes to mark everyone else down and marks GD up. JiHwa spots GD talking to eunuch YS in private (why would they risk this is beyond me 🙄) and she recognizes YS. 3 ladies make it to the final selection. JiHwa (Lord Kang’s daughter), Another lady (Ma relative – Prime Minister), GD. The make to leave but GD can’t find her shoes (JH instructed her maid to hide them). The other 2 leave first. YS tries to find them to no avail. GD ends up heading to the next place (DaeBi testing them) shoeless and her socks are dirty as a result. JH tries to use the fact that GD came into the Palace accompanied by a man (eunuch YS) to get her disqualified. YS had met up with Soo to explain the conundrum and Soo rushes in to salvage the situation before DaeBi disqualifies her. GD finds out who he really is.

That night, JH reveals all to her father Lord Kang (GD’s identity). Soo meets with GD outside the Palace to explain with some unconvincing sob story. 🙄 And then finishes off by giving her no choice in the matter at all by saying, “come to me…this is a command.” WHAT?? Way to abuse your power. 👎👎👎. Only to be foiled by MH who swoops in, grabs her by the hand and says, “you take that command back!” Soo threatens, “let her go…that’s a command”. MH calmly responds, “I refuse to”. Face off… ep ends.

Funnily enough I quite enjoyed this ep. Probably because actress GD just needs to act pretty and noble…so her usual stiffness was appropriate 😂 and I didn’t find her distracting from the story line. On my oath, KMJ and his delectable voice just continues to make me swoon. 😍. Matters little if he’s dishing out promises of forever to GD or veiled threats to Soo…both are just as sumptuous.

  8. Thanks, @nrllee, for the update!!

YS is the GD’s eunuch?? Too funny.

I can already imagine Hoon’s voice when he says, “I refuse to, Your Majesty.”

I’m still at work but will try to watch the show when I get home.

  9. MH proposes to GD. I love this interchange as well. You need to watch it to get the full impact. She accepts and promises to reject the King’s proposal and return to MH because she’s already “taken”.

Awww, I can’t wait to watch this scene @nrllee , thank you 🙂

  10. I hope she doesn’t renege at the last minute.

  11. “ YS is the GD’s eunuch??”

Yeah 😂. She didn’t have a helper accompany her so that was the story that YS and Soo ended up concocting to explain to DaeBi and everyone else why she was seen by JiHwa with a eunuch on her (GD) own. Kinda lame but well, he’s like the King so who was gonna argue with his account of the story 🙂

  12. “ I hope she doesn’t renege at the last minute.”

She looked kinda devastated (or constipated? this actress has to make me guess at her emotions because she has the same “look” for most emotions 😂) when she found out that MH knew all along as well and kept it from her…but at least he had an excuse…he was commanded to stay silent by order of the King? It was his (Soo) story to tell really? Whereas she decided on her own to keep the whole brother-JiHwa story secret on her own… So goodness knows if she will throw a fit about him not being totally honest with her or not? 🙄

  13. I’m scanning through my iphone right now.

I went to watch the last minute first. That King’s closing remarks sounded pretty clingy. He’s Gaedong’s one and only companion, Gaedong’s reliable friend, Gaedong’s family, Gaedong’s husband.

Eeeks. His love is sticky like bubblegum-on- your-sole sticky.

  14. “ Eeeks. His love is sticky like bubblegum-on- your-sole sticky.”

Yeah…his whole spiel was as if GD defined his whole being? He has no identity of his own. She defines him? Life is meaningless without you by my side 🤦‍♀️. I didn’t like that at all. Guilt tripping tactics. 👎 Fail.

  15. I would go with constipated. hahaha.

Well, Hoon’s actions should tell her that he wanted to keep her at his side but was obligated to send her to Soo because of their previous connection.

But what does that look on her face at the end mean? Was she be thrilled that Hoon came to assert himself? Or was she disgusted that Hoon barged in? I can’t read her facial expression. hahaha.

  16. He was cringe-y. It was cringe-y because he loved her more and it showed.

When Ma Hoon proposed, he asked her if he passed. Internally, she was thinking, “Of course.” But she told him, to tease him, “You failed.” And he laughed because he understood her joke. She was getting back at him when she proposed to him on the bridge.

Unlike this poor King’s proposal, she looked like she wanted it to end. hahaha.

  17. I hope she doesn’t renege at the last minute.

After all that Hoon’s done for her? I hope not. Hoon was consistent in doing everything to be with her as soon as he made up his mind, just like her constant look of widening eyes. LOL.

  18. hahaha.

It hurts to watch GSY even more nowadays since I’m also watching that actress on “Extra-ordinary You.”

Kim Hye Yoon. Rats. She should have partnered up with Kim Min Jae.

  19. “ When Ma Hoon proposed, he asked her if he passed. Internally, she was thinking, “Of course.” But she told him, to tease him, “You failed.” And he laughed because he understood her joke. She was getting back at him when she proposed to him on the bridge.”

Exactly. They are at the stage of their relationship where they have inside jokes only the 2 of them would understand. Soo’s courtship is stalker-ish… creepy… possessive. GD should take out an AVO. 😂

As for her expression at the end of the ep…yeah couldn’t read that one either. Was it shock? No way…Both of you like me?? Really?? Who would’ve guessed? Or was it confusion ala Fraulein Maria when she declared, “O I don’t know!” Or was it concealed delight that Hoon showed up to fight for her? 😂. I guess we will find out tonight.

  20. Or maybe worry that Hoon is antagonizing the King for her sake? I can’t tell because of her blasted deer-in-the-headlights look at that last scene. She always look like that for every.single.scene that demands an intense reaction.

I also like what Ma Hoon said. This is a marriage proposal for Gaedong from a marriage matchmaker Ma Hoon, who has nothing.

That’s all he had to say. He has nothing without her.

He didn’t have to go on and on and on like Lee Soo did about being empty with her.

    Less is more.

  21. Drunk Do Joon is such a cutie. I still don’t understand what he sees in Ji-hwa. He’s like your typical guy friend who’s cool and kind, and then falls in a love with a cruel woman and there’s no stopping him cause… love. And you can’t help but get frustrated because he’s too good for her.

Ma Hoon looks good in a black robe or whatever it is you call their clothing.

I love the scene where Gae-dong and Hoon are hugging and they’re talking about running away to the sea. 🖤

I’m happy Lord Yoon’s getting a second daughter who will take care of him. He’s a good minister. Too bad he’s lost all motivation to be in the palace. Why is it that usually, people who can be good leaders are the least willing to be in government? 🤭

Do Joon and Ma Hoon talking about different women 😂

Soo telling Gae-dong, “Come to me. This is a command.” is 😬 No Soo. That’s not how you do it.

  22. “ I also like what Ma Hoon said. This is a marriage proposal for Gaedong from a marriage matchmaker Ma Hoon, who has nothing.”

Yup. He only has himself to offer her. Nothing more, nothing less. All of him. He knows she’s a no frills kinda gal. She doesn’t need big grandiose gestures. He gets her. Unlike Soo who wanted to dress up his proposal with a big YangBan wedding to impress her. He could give her the world (and he can coz he’s King) but that’s not what she wants? He doesn’t get her at all.

  23. Sorry for putting this here but I had to post. BTS of Do KyungSoo and Nam JiHyun extended cut from DVD. The first bit we’ve seen but the second bit after the PD yells cut after the kiss and the staff tell them she looked like she was avoiding him…DKS agreed wholeheartedly and then re-enacts her avoiding his kiss 😂 amid her protests. He totally hammed it up… so funny. Love that boy.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B3_93GpBhMo/?igshid=r761koma5jg4

  24. Oh that was hilarious 😂 Even I’d say to NJH that she did try to avoid it, don’t say no! 😂 Her head was going backwards already while he was just going for the kiss 😂

  25. It seems like Hoon’s proposal letter means something special. Awww

Hoon gave Gae-dong a love knot and they drank alcohol from the wooden cups for newlyweds. 😊

I don’t understand what’s going on but if my guess is correct, Young-soo has a connection with Gae-dong’s brother in the past. Was it Gae-dong’s brother that Young-soo refused to execute? If that’s what happened, then I did not see it coming and it makes Young-soo’s role more important than I originally thought. Awesome.

Kim Min-jae crying in the rain. Can’t help but compare it to Goo Chan-sung’s crying in the bus stop scene. Min-Jae is a heavy breather and sober. That’s when you feel his sadness, when he’s sobbing, also slightly with his eyes. With Yeo Jin-goo he does so well in controlling the way he cries from his tears, his facial reaction, movements, everything.

Just two episodes remaining. I’m ok with this series ending but not about no longer seeing Kim Min-Jae on screen 🤭

  26. Wait. Why is he crying? Is he giving her up to be with the King??

Like Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca giving up Elsa so the cause of French Resistance will continue??

    Aigooo. 😂

  27. Hahaha. Kyungsoo Do is funny too because didn’t he blame NJH for moving away?

  28. @PM3 yeah he did. He cracked the earlier joke with his, “stay still won’t you?” (Just like what he said to the grinding mill earlier when it wouldn’t perform properly for him and the staff caught on and burst out laughing and he took a bow). In this one he was agreeing with staff vigorously, “she avoided me didn’t she? She totally did! I felt it too!” Then hammed it up with his re-enactment. All in good fun. 😂

  29. I need tissue right now 😭😭😭 How dare gaettong make him crying this much.. 😩
Ma hoon is my precious baby 🙄😩😭

  30. 😂 I can imagine what a handful he’ll be to his wife/girlfriend.

I can’t make up my mind whether a quiet girl is a better match for him so he’ll learn to spoil her or a girl who’ll push back and bug him to no end.

I don’t know if he should be an “oppa” or a best friend to his life partner.

  31. Okkkay. What did Gaedong do?
    Agree to marry the King?

  32. Yeah, its because soo “father” asked her to be with soo. Bla bla blahhhhh..

His sad face, really break my heart.. damn kim min jae 😭

He is rookie actor but he is in the level gong hyo jin when he did it, that sad face, who is begging her not to leave him💔

    https://twitter.com/lovebangwon/status/1189256620443865088?s=21

  33. Oh geez. I saw that clip of them crying and then him crying alone in the rain. Poor Hoon. 😩

Their heart was breaking alright. So you we’re right, she did reneged. Sigh……

  34. 😭😭. Saw clips. He cries like Yeo JinGoo. I feel like it always harder to watch when someone who is usually so calm and collected wells up… the contrast is so great that you well up too. As opposed to GD… she’s welled up a few times and none of which left me remotely close to crying myself. It’s probably the actress’s fault. I am supposed to feel sorry for GD but I don’t. Kim HyeYoon as DanOh has vulnerability down pat. She’s supposed to be a comic character yet she feels so “real”, I genuinely feel sorry for her plight so it’s kudos for her for getting me on board with her character.

  35. Gah…watched more clips. Does look like Soo’s father talks her into it. Probably with some sob story of how it’s better for MH. Her marriage to Soo will assuage his anger (if the King picks her who is she to refuse? The royal court wouldn’t allow it). Marriage to MH would ruin him and they would have to live as fugitives. Some noble idiocy. I don’t like how she did it though. It looks like she wrote him a letter??? No face to face? Come on. He deserved that much. Surely? He had to dash to Lord Yun’s house to find her after reading it? And she talks to him whilst inside the Palanquin? Shielded from his face? Coward. 👎🙄. He repeats her confession to him on the bridge (the changed end of the poem) substituting her name in place of his. Ka Ji Ma (Don’t go). To no avail. She remains unmoved. He steps aside to let the Palanquin move. And the rain pours down as his tears flow freely…sun shower 😂. Only in dramaland.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B4NaFQcJLZw/?igshid=uv0hfozp83t

  36. The sob story the father used is “Many lives depend on you showing up for the second round”…also threatened the lives of the Flower Crew. GD didn’t have much of a choice even though she told Hoon it was her choice.

  37. Thanks @flyingtool.

  38. I thought his father was nice and that he’s the one to make Soo think straight and let GD go, but nope.

The Hope title for episode 13 was perfect too. Hoon was full of hope when GD said yes to his proposal. DoJoon was hopeful still in trying to change Jihwa’s mind to not be a queen. YS hoped he can forget his past. Lastly, GD was hopeful of a very good union with Hoon once she overcomes the agreement with Jihwa.

  39. Ep14 (The Return)

GD finally speaks. Let go of me, she orders MH and forcibly removes her hand from his. She repeats her apologies to Soo, annuls their marriage and pretty much tells MH that she doesn’t want to be with him either. She will go back to where she belongs (she doesn’t know where but it’s not with either of them). Then she leaves them to talk with these parting words, “my opinion never mattered to either of you in this marriage anyway”.

MH kneels before Soo and tells him about his father killing the Crown Prince and his assassination attempts on GD. He pleads with him to let her go because she would be in danger by his side. Soo refuses. He pretends “to have heard nothing” and vows, “I will protect her. You protect your own heart. This is a command.” And he stalks off. Whoa someone’s got a bad attitude. 🤔 Talk about selfish to the extreme.

MH finds GD. Tries to explain in his lovely dulcet voice but she keeps cutting him off. She’s mad, chucking a massive tantrum. I am done being a noble lady, I quit! And stomps off in a fit of rage. She’s not terribly rational. Gone back to being a child again whilst MH maintains his dignity and remains the adult in the relationship. 😕

YS is at Lord Kang’s and Lord Kang learns that instead of JiHwa meeting the King last time, it was GD who met with him instead. YS is quick to tell him that he didn’t know Soo was King then but Kang says MH must’ve known. YS frantically tries to defend MH. Kang decides to keep this information to himself and warns YS to tell no one that he knows about it. YS returns to the agency to a glum MH and DJ and recounts everything that happened at the Queen Selection. DJ smells something (their servant is listening in the background) and makes to sniff YS which sends him into another anxiety attack. MH steadies him wordlessly, stops him from scratching.

JiHwa’s maid is trying to find PalPun (GD’s brother) but finds out from JiHwa that she has already sold him. She is distressed and asks why she wasn’t told beforehand to which JH threatened to sell her too if she kept stepping out of line. Honestly not sure how the writer will redeem JH. She is at the point of no return for me. 😡 DJ is better off without her. The maid runs to the agency to inform MH about the plight of GD’s brother. How does she know he will help?? Did I miss how she found out PalPun was GD’s brother? Otherwise it’s a plot hole. 😳

Back at Lord Yun’s residence, GD is back to her peasant clothes and packing in her room. She is called outside to be greeted by gifts galore (sent by Soo) and the manservant tells her they are the only household that received gifts from the King (Dejavu?) and word has spread villagewide (rigged by Soo) that she’s his preferred pick for Queen. Lord Yun appears and tells GD not to disgrace his family’s name by dressing like a commoner. She seems to take his chiding well.

Face off between Prime Minister and Soo. He wants his niece to be top choice and relegate GD to concubine (?). Soo is adamant that GD become Queen. Stale mate.

Lord Kang is mad that JiHwa spent the night with another man (not the King) and demands to know who he is. JH says no one of importance. 😩 He warns that they need to make sure GD keeps mum about this or JH’s chances of becoming Queen would be toast. He scolds her for being careless. JH remembers the shoes DJ gave her.

GD is back in her room dressed as a noble woman once more. She finally opens the marriage proposal letter that MH gave her. There’s a single Chinese character in it. It means Love – not just any love, more specifically, the love between a man and woman (yay me for being able to read Chinese 😂). She is mad at him for being so cryptic (she can’t read it). Then proceeds of read the Flower Crew Book of Rules. She’s still mad – calling him “cranky man”. She’s called outside and finds her brother with MH. MH has freed him. He reinforces that she too is “free” to choose. He makes no attempts to sway her. She is all huffy. Err…I thought she wanted to have that choice? That was her gripe on the bridge when they BOTH wanted her? Fickle much? 😒

Power play happening between Lord Kang and Prime Minister to try to swing the vote of the King to their charges. GD heads to the agency to find out what the cryptic character means. YS is home and tells her it means love, that whoever gave it to her must love her ardently. She looks pleased. MH returns and she makes some lame excuse that she’s back to pick up some things. She’s still mad at him. This time for not taking the initiative and requesting she come to him. Talk about fickle. 🙄 He reads her well and says let’s run away tomorrow.

As she’s getting ready for their date, Soo’s father meets her and does his whole spiel about being there for Soo and going ahead with round 2 to save the Flower Crew from certain annihilation. blah…blah..blah…But he’s Soo, he won’t do that, she protests. He’s not Soo anymore, he’s the King now – Captain’s ominous warning. 😬

MH and GD have a beach date. Lots of running on the sand and splashing…It’s nice but I am not feeling it. They drink from those gourd cups that they got on their first night together at the inn. He ties the love knot around her wrist. He seems to guess something’s up but doesn’t press her for answers. She doesn’t tell him that she’s going to break it off with him 🙄. Who’s the coward now?

Meanwhile, Lord Kang is told by JiHwa that she sold GD’s brother and he summons YS to find him. They want him back as a bargaining chip? Later GD (I guess in preparation for her going into the Palace) tells YS to look after her brother whilst she’s away. YS is visibly torn. We get insight into his past life. He was forced to be an executioner? I thought this was kinda odd… really? He was obviously NOT cut out for the job. Was the man forcing him his father or something? We aren’t told. Anyway, he refuses and ends up killing a guard instead of the criminal he was supposed to execute. So I guess that’s why he’s on the run for killing someone and has a bounty on his head.

Break up time. GD dresses for the second round of Queen Selection. Writes her goodbye note and sends it off together with the love knot and Flower Crew Rule Book. MH receives it, runs to Lord Yun’s to stop her dropping the book on the way out. She resolutely sits in the Palanquin. He is telling her he will handle everything in his lovely dulcet tones 😍… she on the other hand is yelling at him…why must she shout her replies? 🙄 Trying her hardest to cut him off by saying mean things. He steps away to let her go. Rain comes down and they sob in their respective corners. Scene sweeps back to the dropped book. Pages flip in the rain and wind…she’s drawn little cartoons on the pages of them together in the corner of the pages. It’s cute. And where the rule says “A Matchmaker must not fall in love with the client”, she’s crossed it out and written, “A matchmaker may feel love for his/her client”.

  40. Thanks for doing this @nrllee.

Do the titles “hope” and “return” apply both to the king?

The maid knew that Palpun is GD’s brother bec she was there with Jihwa when GD cried over her brother. Also in the last week’s episode, she was the one who witnessed GD feeding her brother.

    👏👏 for reading Chinese.

Gaedong is always yelling bec this actress has only two volumes: loud and louder.

I don’t know what to do with this Soo character. It’s not possible to kill him off.

And I don’t get why he’s insisting on marriage to GD when she already said she didn’t love him. What if she doesn’t want to have marital relations with him? Is he willing to just look at her, and not bed her, for the rest of his life? Will he rape her?

Or what if she sleeps with him but thinks of MH? Ew. Is he really ok being married to her when she loves another guy?

His love is all wrong. 😂

  41. “ The maid knew that Palpun is GD’s brother bec she was there with Jihwa when GD cried over her brother. Also in the last week’s episode, she was the one who witnessed GD feeding her brother.”

I thought GD covered that with her claim that he just “looked like her brother”. I thought JiHwa only caught on herself later that it was a cover up and he was in fact the real deal. Anyway, it’s not a big thing. She’s JH’s personal maid so she should know everything her mistress does. So if JiHwa knows I guess the maid would too (by osmosis). 😂

Not sure about the titles. I think Ep13 was hopeful…both boys seemingly still in the running and GD seemed hopeful of changing her life for the better. Ep14 was GD wanting to return to her beginnings as a commoner again maybe? She certainly wanted to quit.

Yes to GD always yelling. Her lines are actually good but her delivery is appalling. ☹️ She just sounds petulant constantly…and it’s not endearing at all. Poor MinJae. Sometimes I feel like he’s acting on his own. She just doesn’t add to the scene at all. It’s not a partnership with any synergy? Only 2 episodes left now. I hope the writer ties it off well.

  42. I want GD to be Queen! 😂 I don’t want her to be with Hoon. She can be sacrificed for the whole country. 😂 If she was a different actress I’d say no to her being Queen but it’s totally fine with me. 🤣

Hoon was so devastated when she left on that last scene and I cried with him. 😭 I love though that they were in sync with what each other was going to say. That was cute. I’ll miss KMJ’s dimples too. 😍

You we’re so right about her pretending to be asleep when Hoon held the side of her head so she doesn’t hit the table. She was awake because she drew them as they were in the Flower Crew Rules book. 😉

  43. “Is he willing to just look at her, and not bed her, for the rest of his life? Will he rape her?” This is true. Thank God Soo’s a character in a drama but if it’s really life, his behavior screams rape is possible because he’s been forcing Gae-dong for so long. 🤢🤮

“You we’re so right about her pretending to be asleep when Hoon held the side of her head so she doesn’t hit the table.”

Hahaha I thought about the previous comments too about Gae-dong pretending to be asleep when they showed the flashback in Ep. 14. 🤭

  44. I just watched Episode 14 with subs and can I just say, that “your brother is no longer a slave” is so anticlimactic and Gae-dong is such an ungrateful brat. Being with her brother is what drives her so when Hoon works to free Pal-pun, Gae-dong stays mad at him? I mean here’s a guy who gave you everything you needed and yet you don’t even say thank you. You just huff and leave. Also, Gae-dong doesn’t even say what Hoon wanted to hear. Yeesh.

Hoon told Gae-dong she’s free now. She can go wherever she wants to go. Hint hint Gae-dong. Hoon wants her to say she wants to stay with him. But she doesn’t and she gets huffy and so the moment where she’s supposed to cry and be grateful that she and her brother are free people now is over.

The only good part in this scene is Joon telling Hoon, “How could you be so well-mannered? It’s boring.” 🤭😂

  45. What an ungrateful wench! 🤪

  46. 😂 that’s a good one! Let’s not forget the ever faithful words – HA JI MA! 😂

  47. 😂 You cried? How come I’m not surprised.

I want GD to be queen too. Why give her a happy ending with Hoon? She deserves to be queen and be imprisoned in that palace where she’s bound by rules 24/7. Let’s Soo suffer to see her lose her enthusiasm for living. He adamantly wants to hold on to her, without any consideration for her happiness, so let him. He’ll see the consequences of his obstinacy faster when GD is in the palace with him. 😂

  48. Ah! Some of my favorite Kdrama words are Hajima!
    Kajima!
    And
Jugolae? This is often said jokingly. It means something like “Do you have a death wish?” “Do you want to die?”

  49. ‘He’ll see the consequences of his obstinacy faster when GD is in the palace with him.’

So true. Force it and she’ll wither away quickly because of those palace rules.

I’m such a cry baby, I know 😄 Hoon was hurting so much that he was touching his chest/heart. 😭

  50. Oh yeah, these are some faves of mine – kajima, omo, aigoo, jinjja, jugolae, gwenchana, andwe 😄

  51. I also like “gaesaekki” or “saekki-ya” 😂

  52. I like the way Nokdu cries. 😂 Tears just roll down and he wipes them like a kid.

  53. I thought the best line was “How could you be so well-mannered? It’s boring.”

The best bit was corrupting the astrologer to disqualify 2 of 3 candidates, and Soo’s maneuver to put it off… look at their physiognomy next time.

  54. I also like Oppa. 😈

  55. What do you mean?

The other two ladies have same oval faces while GD is moon-shaped.

  56. It was brilliant temporizing in the aftermath of the two Ministers arguing back and forth about whether to use the Royal Astrologer’s analysis to disqualify candidates or not. It clearly leaves room for the King to *somehow* influence the RA to pick The King’s choice, whoever that might be.

By the way astrologer is really an incorrect translation, but there’s no exact fit.

  57. I was watching Episode 13 of When the Camellia Blooms and there’s a scene there that reminds me of Flower Crew. Dong-baek keeps on thinking she has the worst luck and it will rub off on Yong-sik but he tells her he’s lucky and they should just get married and share their luck. Must be a thing in South Korean culture or something often said among couples? It’s sweet.

  58. Ah yes, there’s those that cry with tears just rolling down their face and those that cry with their face scrunching/heaving.

I prefer the first one too 😊 Hoon and GD cry the same.

  59. I forgot about the fortune telling base on the candidate’s astrology. I thought it must be very important to include it as part of the category to be selected as Queen. I only wanted my partner/husband to be catholic, that’s all. LOL.
