John L wants to know who the mystery man is.

I’m also wondering who the mysterious figure is that approached the Rat to go to SK w/ the soldiers to get RJH.

I can surmise the following from that brief encounter:

One, the mystery man has to be North Korean to gain entrance into the military installation. I doubt he was one of Seri’s brothers or Seri’s dad. 🙂

Two, not only must he be North Korean, he has to be military personnel to enter the tunnel. Remember what ChulGang had to walk through, right? It was like a maze. A clueless civilian would have gotten lost.

Three, the mystery man must be a high-ranking officer to access this area WITHOUT an escort.

While it was possible that another soldier had led the mystery man to the wiretap room, he left the mystery man outside the wiretap room by himself.

Four, the mystery man wasn’t wearing a uniform to avoid calling attention to the mission. That’s why The Rat bowed, instead of saluting. The Rat didn’t recognize the man, and without the uniform, he couldn’t tell if he was military or civilian. This tells me that the mystery man is used to working stealth.

Five, he couldn’t have been Dan’s uncle. Dan’s uncle is short. lol.

My guess is he’s an aide to the Director of the General Political Bureau. This man or somebody else who works for him.

Whoever he is, his mission was to bring The Rat with him to another location for a meeting with JungHyuk’s dad. Here, at this new location, The Rat waited for JungHyuk’s squad to arrive from the frontline.  When they were all present, JungHyuk’s dad informed them of their new assignment/quest.
