Gotta admit that I laughed myself silly at the sight of her handlebar moustache. I don’t know how Ji Heng (and the actor) kept a straight face when she dropped the handkerchief.
The drawn on moustache was great and her presentation even better. 😂 Some decades back, there was a bank robber in the States who wore a BandAid across his nose. When witnesses were asked to describe him, it was the only thing they could remember. It served as a distraction.

I was wondering if this is filmed entirely in a studio or at a historical site as well. I can find nothing about it on Wiki.
I find the set design and costumes so mesmerizing. I covet JH’s duvet cover and giant silken map, Ning’er’s earrings, the embroidery around Kang De’s robe, Madam Ji’s gown and modern looking lantern in Ep 18, and even TQ’s informal clothing at the house in the herb fields. All that in addition to General Ji’s clothes. Ah.
Am I the only one who can’t stop looking at TQ’s hands? Compared to the other actors, she seems nearly Italianate in her gestures. I wonder if she was asked to do this or if it is the actor’s interpretation.

@Fern , I couldn’t agree more that the costumes and props here are beautiful. It’s so pleasing to the eyes. I said before that I’ve seen a few period cdramas but this one tops the overall set up and costume.
Yes, TQ’s hands are acting as well in this drama. 😁 But from the bts that I’ve seen I don’t think she’s like that in real life. 😊

I am enjoying this drama and wish I didn’t have to wait for the subs. I’ve cheated a bit and peeked on some other sites, but it isn’t very satisfying. I’m hoping that the humorous moments aren’t entirely dropped in the later episodes.

Yes, Sun Qian is a good actress. Her crying scenes tugs at your heart. Not ever dramatic but just right.
Hopefully the funny doesn’t go away once TQ realises the connection to JH in her parents death. 🤞🏻
There’s one scene where TQ pretends to sleep but she hits JH’s face. 😂 He was lamenting to himself that if he is a girl then he’ll take responsibility for her. Then wack! 😂

I saw the slap scene today. He was so stunned! In an earlier ep he might have shook her awake and punished her, but he couldn’t here as it would mean admitting his dodgy actions. 🤣

This Cdrama is a hoot. I don’t have to think about the drama-ness of it all. I guess, it’s like going through labor and giving birth for the second, third, fourth time. The story…just like the baby, just pops out.
(I had Caesarian births twice, though, so I really don’t know what I’m talking about….)
I’ve always thought that caesarean birth are more painful and harder to get over with than normal childbirth. 😊
My first one, because he was taking his time in coming out, the doctor said when I come back we will do a c-section. I got so scared that I told my midwife, please let’s get him out here. 😂 He did. I’m sure you know what you’re talking about. ☺️
Enjoy episode 19 and 20. I felt JH just gave up already, couldn’t handle his feelings with TQ so he gave her a wedding.
I had no choice with the C-sections. Both were scheduled surgeries so I was prepared for them. I don’t know…I felt relieved that I didn’t have to grunt and scream through labor. 🙂 But I’m sure if I had been planning a natural birth and the doctor told me at the last minute to have a C-section, I would have panicked too like you.
One nice thing about the scheduled Cs is that there were no surprises. We had dinner with our parents the night before, checked in the hospital early in the morning, had the anesthesia an hour or so later, delivered the baby soon after that, then was wheeled out of the surgery and to my room with the baby. No fuss. It was very organized and efficient. lol.
Okay. Let me post on Ep 17 now.
The way you said it is definitely efficient. 😄 My labour started at 3:30am on a Good Friday but my baby didn’t come out till 11:25pm that night. It definitely wasn’t going on schedule 😂 I had epidural too but I didn’t grunt though during labour. It was just a different pain. 😊
I can’t wait for the next episode. The good thing about this drama too is that it doesn’t involved much fighting even though it’s a period drama.

I think he’s not bad but not great either. Wait till episode 20 when TQ says her final goodbye to him. He probably put on fake tears but the scene worked for me.
Oh? TQ said goodbye to HIM? He’s been telling HER goodbye so I’m glad for the reversal here. 🙂

Yes, he’s been telling her goodbye since sending her to harvest herbs then allowing her to work with JZ and now the wedding. It’s almost parallel to CLOY. 😁

There’s some bts on Instagram of CLOY and the scene where she finally finds him after she lands from her paragliding, they wanted it to re-enact when she landed on him in NK but it looked so awkward. 😄 Glad they revised that.

@agdr03, I agree with your comment, “I felt JH just gave up already, couldn’t handle his feelings with TQ so he gave her a wedding.” Yes, it is the last straw, the last goodbye and he comes completely undone. Even him agreeing uncharacteristically to drinks with Ning’er confirms it. Thank goodness Ning’er didn’t succeed this time- I don’t think I could have handled that tangent.
Your comparison/contrast of the goodbyes in CLOY and Dr Cutie are interesting. I would do the same for Ning’er/Dan. I don’t think Ning’er is fundamentally bad. I wonder how her character will develop from here.
You’re right @Fern , JH doesn’t usually have drinks with Ning’er, it’s not him. It definitely was the last straw. The good thing was he’s smart when it comes to those things, except knowing that TQ is a girl. 🤦🏻♀️
I agree, Ning’er is not that bad. I think she’s just blinded by the fact that she thinks she’s the only one that can marry JH plus there’s the influence of her brother.

He’s probably added up all of the instances where it was kept secret: aunt/doctor seen twice, her reaction to wedding, view of her whilst poisoned/drunk, slap when he tried to inspect her in her sleep. He will also realise that Zheng knew all along. Hmmm. I can’t wait for the next episodes.
My favourite part of Episode 17 is when Tian Qi dresses in female clothes sporting a moustache and meets with young Ru Yi (who earlier called her mom) and JH:
RY: Aren’t you as beautiful as a fairy. I will marry you when I grow up!
JH: When you grow up, Tian Qi will be old.
TQ: My lord. The reason should be: I’m a male.
JH: Shut up. Of course I know!

The siblings really wanted her to be punished by setting up the breaking of Mansion Ji law.
I’d guess that the enemy outside the mansion is JZ’s friend. The one they were with when TQ won against Sung Yuri’s son. I was trying to see whose behind the hood. 😄
