@JT7 confirmed Jun’s birthdate.

I’m adding on to the timeline info, because Ep 6 gave us Jun’s birthdate. It’s actually shown at the top of Jun’s result slip in the scene when his father slaps him. Jun failed every subject because he left everything blank.

His birthdate is on 10/5/2002. Which means he shares the same birthdate as his friend Ji Hun (which might explain their closeness?). Interestingly enough, LJW’s actual birthday falls on 10/5 as well. 🙂

This means Jun was only 17 when he ran away from home, and when he met Rara at her wedding. He would have turned 18 after arriving in Eunpo, and he still has 9.5 months to go before he hits 19 (which is the age of majority in S.Korea. If he had been Captain Ri he wouldn’t have had to lie low since the age of majority in N.Korea is 17 I think?). Praying hard for a time jump, Jun quick grow up!

  1. Is age of majority in Korea in Korean years where they add 1 to their age?

  2. I think Jun will be 19 years old the 1th January 2021 not a his birthdate. Like in Goblin, Eun Tak drank soju with the Goblin because it was the New Year, not because it was her birthday.

  3. @JT7-thanks so much for this timeline. Here are some musings based on your hard work.

    So this is an inadvertant Noona drama, where to my culturally different perspective, the 5 year age difference is within the statistical margin of error. A time jump would help solely because at an age closer to school age the difference tends to be magnified
    (see also thiose teacher seducing student dramas where female teacher-male student tends to be more prurient).However, in most of our cultures,nobody seems to blink an eye with the older man, much, much younger woman romance (where in too many cases, the physical pairings are downright creepy like Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron).

    I think in this drama, the two leads look good together. Both actors seem well matched and the male lead does not have the pretty,baby face of a Park Bo Gum that would enhance the age difference( which is wider for the two leads in real life).

    What also makes this drama interesting is how the story upends the maturity levels of the leads, where the young man is able to be financially independent by dint of hard work(his money was stolen), he’s intelligent, uses his knowledge for good and is able to take care of others (financially supporting RaRa-taking care of her hospital charges -how does he have that much money?!. In contrast, RaRa seems flighty-although she is able to manipulate people. Both leads got taken-RaRa by the apartment scam and Junbeing pickpocketed.

    My take on Dr. Cha is that he’s sympathetic but he represents another father figure for RaRa-someone who would indulge her but who’d not contribute to any emotional growth. To use the Emma ana,ogy, I don’t get a Mr. Knightley feeling from him (even though Mr. K was much oldrr than Emma).

    While I’m currently on team Jun, I think I could be on team RaRa being single for a while. Her character has so much room for personal and professional growth, that part of me wants her to be unimpeded. No matter what, I am in for the jouney, the lovely music(K Dramas make classical music very accessible to the masses like me), the supporting characters (love the salon ahjummas-discussion of K Drama was a hoot), the mystery, the reunion if Jun and his mother(don’t think she’s his stepmother anymore), and the resolution of the mystery of the washed upbody to name a few. Also, why is it that the truck if death apoears in so many KDramas( here used toexacerbate Jun’s unnecessary gult).

  4. Thanks @packmule for posting this, the date format I used is day/month/year. 🙂

    @sayaris @jollymerry I’m not sure but I think the age of majority is calculated using international age rather than Korean age.

    @old american lady: Loved your musings. Totally agree on all your points, and yes, LJW looks older than he is, I think that might be a reason why he was casted for the role. I’m also on Team Rara being single for now, while Jun seems mature for his age I think 18 isn’t the time for him to think about settling down yet. Looking forward to seeing all of them grow!
