Happy Easter!

As much as I like to watch kdramas (and doramas and Chinese dramas with 24 episodes or less), there’s only ONE story that I never get tired of hearing or recounting.

Can you guess which one?

No, it’s not “Start-Up” although I look forward to our re-watches. It’s not “Reply 1988” although I probably wrote a book about it. And it’s not “Sisyphus.” It’s absorbing enough but that’s because I don’t know if I should skewer or salute it.

It’s the Easter story.

For us Christians, it’s the Greatest Love Story ever told.

The synopsis can easily be summed up in one line. It’s about God who loves us so much that He sent His Only Son to save us. The story is so simple that it doesn’t need much analysis, yet so profound that 2000 years from now, people will STILL be moved by it, just like people were 2000 years ago.

Unlike kdramas, we are personally invested in this story. There’s no Second Male/Female Lead syndrome to worry about, because we are the major characters.

While it’s an open-ended story, we don’t resent God for not completing the task Himself. We can only pray that our choices and actions reflect our innate goodness, and that our mistakes end up as redemptive arcs, not cliffhangers.

And unlike kdramas that often begin with a promising plot, but end up disappointing us with clichés and plot holes, the story of Jesus Christ’s resurrection never fails to give us hope and peace. That’s because the central message is both powerful and empowering. As He conquered sin and death (that’s the powerful message), we no longer have to fear death or be overwhelmed by the darkness around us (that’s the empowering message).

For Christians, no tv drama can compare to the Easter story, and I’m glad that many of us here took time off from our schedules to reorient ourselves.

May the good news of Easter strengthen, uplift, and inspire us to be a flicker of Christ’s light in the world.

My drama reviews will resume in 24 hours.

  7. Happy Easter to all of you. One of the things that doesn’t get enough attention is Jesus as a Philosopher of Love, which is a very valid and usually overlook part of His Message (which is a pity, since it is overshadowed as His role as the Son of God).

*i came across your blog while i was trying to get more insight into “The King:Eternal Monarch” 🙂 and I keep coming back ever since. This is my first time to comment because I don’t watch the shows the same time as you’re reviewing them. and i’m shy LOL.
I’m new to Kdramas (2019)and can only watch what’s available on Netflix and Viki. I also prefer watching shows that are already completed. I prefer binge watching dramas haha.
I love reading your blog/reviews for more insight to the shows i am currently watching 🙂 And gives me choices of what to watch next 🙂 i love reading the comments, too, from other people. thank you for sharing your wisdom, knowledge, and insights 🙂 I can enjoy the shows in a more deeper level 🙂 God bless 🙂

  18. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter filled with blessings!
