Who Rules the World: Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi

Good news, Yang Yang fans. He’s starring in a new project with Zhao Lusi (aka Rosie Zhao). Title of the drama is “Who Rules the World.”

Thanks, @agdr03, for updating us on Yang Yang’s latest project.

Zhao Lusi was the female lead in “Dating in the Kitchen.” Remind me to finish this drama, willya??

I’m looking forward to this Yang Yang+Zhao Lusi match-up for a few reasons:

a. the two leads are such eye-candies. I’m sure I’ll like watching Zhao Lusi better than Dilraba, Yang Yang’s costar in “You Are My Glory.” Dilraba’s facial features, especially her eyes, just don’t appeal to me.

b. there’s something about their public persona — or the image that they project — that seem to complement the other, like yin and yang. I often see Zhao Lusi in roles that require her to be impulsive, exuberant, and joyful. Of course, the image I’ll always have of Yang Yang is that of the restrained, measured, genius Xiao Nai. Mixing the two personalities should result in fireworks.

c. I’m looking for a wuxia drama that will appeal to me. To me, wuxia drama is like the legends of King Arthur. It’s a fantasy drama involving protagonists who are masters of martial arts, protected by supernatural powers, and dressed in long flowing robes.

d. I want to see if Yang Yang can beat Lin Shen with the romantic vibes.

The only drawback is the number of episodes. Chinese dramas tend to drag on forever and my limit is 24 episodes. So we shall see…

  1. Yipppppppeeeeeeee! 🎉

    Thanks Queen! 🙇🏻‍♀️

I’m so excited but I’ll have to wait and calm down! 😂

Let’s see if the fireworks here is better than DITK. 🤞🏻

Please, please, you’ll have to watch this even if it’s 24 episodes. I know the story better be good but I don’t really care! I’m all in! 💃

  2. 😂 Lin Shen was a hottie ahjussi in DITK.

I read that DITK is a remake of a 2017 movie called “This Is Not What I Expected.” If you see it showing somewhere, tell me please? The age difference between the characters in DITK didn’t look so jarring, but I wonder if this was due to Lin Shen’s portrayal of the ahjussi.

  3. Morning! I agree wholeheartedly that Lin Shen made his character Lu Jin a hottie ahjussi! 🥰 Girlfriend @Phoenix and I we’re his greatest admirer. 🤣

Yeah, I read that somewhere too. I’ll try to look for it. ☺️ I think it helped that it was a romcom and he made it funny too. He was able to bring the same comedy as Zhao Lusi. ☺️

Off topic. Rest In Peace to Prince Philip. 🙏🏼😔

  4. Huh? Prince Philip is dead?

    RIP.

Although this was expected because of his failing health, it still must be devastating news for the Queen. That was a long marriage. 74 years. Till death do us part.

  5. Yeah, it’s expected and his been in the hospital for almost a month just a couple of months ago?

He was the most dedicated rock/anchor to Queen Elizabeth. She must be heartbroken.

I’m watching short clips of news/videos in Twitter. Their bridesmaid said they were destined for each other. ☺️

  6. He surely was handsome when he was young. I can see why she fell for him at first sight.

74 years. I get why he would be furious with the other royals for their lack of loyalty, commitment, and dedication to the Queen. He of all people had the right to be scathing.

  7. I so totally agree about Prince Philip being handsome and his every right to be scathing of the other royals.

They don’t know what loyalty and dedication means. He embraced it.

I need to get on with watching The Crown. I only finished Season 1.

  8. 🙂 I’ve another Jdrama to recommend to you. I think YOU will like it because of the kisses. It’s only 7 episodes too.

  9. Are they good kisses? 😜 Yes please then! 😄 I’ve kinda miss my drama kisses with SH and TS having a couple of it then nothing yet for Hani and YH. ☺️

@Welmarus recommended In House Marriage. I can watch it because Sisyphus and Hello, Me is finished this week.

  10. So excited for this!
Here’s a link with the first drama posters:

  11. Lol. That’s it! “In House Marriage Honey” is kinda …???

I get the kisses and all. When it comes to the kissing and make-out scenes, there’s one every episode. But there’s something about them that I find seedy. 🧐

Go ahead and watch it. I’ll open a thread for us.

  12. Oh seedy. 🤔 Wow! One every episode?

Let me finish Sisyphus and Hello,Me and I can jump to that by this weekend.

    Thanks 😊

Are you going to watch cdrama Love Scenery? It’s airing now.

  13. Just see it for yourself. I need a second opinion and since we’re “connoisseurs” of kisses, you might see something that I’m not seeing. 😂

Okay, I’ve to watch Sisyphus too, and Hello, Me. I’ve been avoiding the Sisyphus thread for now so I’m not “influenced” before I write my take on the ending.

Where is Love Scenery being shown?

  14. Oh oh we’re ‘connoisseurs’ of kisses 😂 Okie doks! I’ll definitely watch it and see how we go.

Love Scenery is shown in iqiyi, drama cool and WeTV. I’m sure kissasian has it too.

  15. 😂 “Connoisseurs” sounds more refined than “perverts” or “degenerates.”

  16. True! 😂

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I’ve finally made it here. Yes, I definitely prefer Zhao Lui Si to Diliraba. She seems so much more personable and approachable.

@pkml3 you were asking about wuxia shows. I found Joy of Life one of most well made and with a fun to like lead. It will have a 2nd season out, (hopefully July 2022), with most of the main cast signed on already. Season 1 ends on a cliffhanger though, so don’t start if you can’t bear waiting for the next Season.

  18. My comment disappeared, so I’ll try again.

I’m excited for the pairing of Zhao Lusi and Yang Yang. (Although I Like Dilreba too) I haven’t watched her latest drama, The Long Ballad. Zhao Lusi is second lead there.

This Is Not What I Expected used to be at Netflix, but I don’t know if it is still available there or not. It’s at Dramacool for sure:
    https://watchasian.cc/drama-detail/this-is-not-what-i-expected

I enjoyed In House Marriage Honey. It was a cute rom com. For nice kisses, I recommend C Drama My Little Happiness. It’s also at Viki.

RIP Prince Philip. I hadn’t realized he was 99 years old. He lived a long and interesting life. My codolences to his wife, the Queen, family, friends, and fans.

  19. Yes, Lin Shen had that look that said he’d been around the block a couple of times but still managed to be taken aback by Zhao Lusi’s character.

  20. I found your comment while I was clearing my “spam box” out. I don’t see any spam word so it might have been the link that set off my spam notice.
    Thanks!

  21. Lin Shen had that hungry wolf look.

But Zhao Lusi was the Little Red Riding Hood that was happy to be eaten…if you know what I mean. She wasn’t scared of the big bad wolf.

But I can’t imagine Yang Yang as wolfish. So let me see how he’ll bring “sexy” on. Hmmm…it’s also possible that YY can’t do sexy or rakish like Lin Shen. So whatever. I’ll just wait and see how these two kids interact with each other. (Nope. I’m not going to use that word “chem.is.try.”)

  22. I agree with you about Zhao Lusi’s character. She was sensual, not only in the sexy sense, but wanting to grow and experience many things.

No, although he showed us sexy in 020, I can’t see Yang Yang being Lin Shen’s of sexy at this point in his career. Maybe when he has been around the block a few times. 😉😈 Although I wouldn’t mind being pleasantly surprised. 😉

  23. Unfortunately with Yang Yang’s career, I don’t think his fangirls will allow him to go around the block, much less down the hotel corridor, unescorted by his manager and bodyguard. lol.

The only way he’ll escape his fans is if he lives here in the US,

like in a college campus here in the East Coast (Penn? Duke? Georgetown? Brown?)
or a quaint city like Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia
or the horse and wine counties of Virginia,
or the seaside towns along the Maryland coast,
or the exclusive neighborhoods in the New England states.

where nobody would have heard of him and he might be mistaken as a Fedex delivery guy. That would be a funny story actually if I were a screenwriter. How to be incognito here in the US.

  24. Yang Yang disappearing into the woodwork by driving an Uber or JustEat, FedEx guy, working in a lab at a hospital or school of medicine… although at a college campus there would surely be fans? Georgetown is wishful thinking. 😆 He would be more invisible in a less sophisticated school or in a school with a largely male population but where’s the fun in that as a scenario?

I’ve been away too long to know where he would blend in unrecognised in the US. Send him to Exeter University, or to Oxbridge where he’d be just another famous face.

  25. That’s why it has to be a sort of college where his career as an actor would be met with a raised eyebrow. Dating an actor is a MINUS, not a plus for these girls and their parents. 😂

I know if I had a daughter and she started dating a Hollywood or Broadway type — even if I kept mum — her uncles would never end needling her about it during family get-togethers. They did this to my niece. 🤦‍♀️

That would be hysterical, right? Yang Yang working as a FedEx guy, wearing those shorts and Skechers, and knocking on doors to ask for signature. 😂😂

  26. Enjoyin the comments Ladies regarding our Yang Yang walking around the block/corridors and being a FedEx Guy. 😂

    But the latter 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️

He’s very busy after finishing You Are My Glory, he went to this one.

Thanks for the info @Table122000. I’ll check it out later. I’m watching The Long Ballad, it is long with 50 episodes but I like the two lead pairs. 😊

  27. No worries, @packmule3. Thanks for finding and posting my comment.
@agdr03 You’re welcome. Both In House Marriage Honey and My Little Happiness are nice drama choices for a light, breezy watch. I’m holding off on The Long Ballad until I get some more feedback & reviews from viewers. At 50 episodes, it needs to be something special for me to invest that kind of time.

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks for the information @Table122000. I may pick up one of these light and shorter dramas. At the moment I’ve found “This is Not What I Expected” on Dramanice and am laughing at the antics of Shengnan. It’s a well done movie version. I like how it showed Lu Jin’s multiple attempts to make the perfect instant noodles in just one effective scene, and how Shengnan foiled every one of them LOL.

  29. Kinda funny Zhao Lusi and Dilraba are both in the long ballad right now.

  30. @Packmule3, my first watch-through of In-House Marriage Honey left me with the impression that it was racier than the Kdramas we usually watch, but I bristled a bit at the word you chose–seedy–because I thought the jdorama was sweet overall. So I decided to rewatch IHMH to see if I could pinpoint what might make its presentation of the leads’ relationship a bit off. I meant to only skim, but ended up watching it a second time in its entirety. It’s so short, I could do that in one afternoon.

My second watch-through, I didn’t get as strong a feel of it being racy. Maybe that’s because the surprise element was gone. There was frankness in this jdorama about sexual desire: the new wife tries a number of ploys to prod her husband to initiate the physical intimacy, and he doesn’t seem altogether against the concept, but he wants her to be emotionally ready. Remember, she entered this marriage after breaking off a five-year relationship with the wedding only a short time in the future. I imagine she’d been intimate with her ex. When Ami discovers that her new husband has ordered condoms, she’s initially shocked, but her main complaint isn’t that he’s rushing her, but that he’s being a tease. As their relationship develops within their marriage, I think this jdorama is realistic in showing the newlyweds desiring and valuing physical intimacy.

Scenes that may have led me to initially characterize this jdorama as racy included the couple in bed together with Manatsu’s back and Ami’s shoulders bare. Kdramas I’ve watched don’t often portray skinship with bare skin. And there were other intimacies shown between Manatsu and Ami that I can’t think of seeing in Kdramas: his finger tracing the side of her torso, his nibbling her ear. I didn’t like the way bed scenes looked stereotypically art directed: camera focusing on the prone couple from behind his shoulder, then on their interlaced fingers, then on her face with a coy smile as she turns her head while he buries his face in her neck. The seedy vibe may come from these soft porn tropes not particularly furthering the story.

I admit that a scene can be charged with sexual tension without nudity or giving viewers the sense of being voyeurs. For example, in the last episode of Dating in the Kitchen, Lu Jin comes to Shengnan’s apartment to reconcile with her. She’s angry with him, but becomes less so when he hugs her. As they embrace (fully clothed),
LJ: I’m hungry. Stop being mad at me, will you? (whispering in her ear) I’m really hungry.
SN: Then cook some noodles for yourself.
LJ: (barely above a murmur, into her ear) I want you to cook them for me.
    SN: Wishful thinking.
LJ: Then I’ll wish for even more.
He hoists her, her legs go around his waist, and he carries her to the bedroom. We just see his foot kicking the door closed. (And all watchers with a pulse feel their hearts skip a beat.)

I just finished watching the Kdrama My Lovely Sam Soon. First aired in 2005, it is the oldest Kdrama I’ve yet seen. And I was surprised that it was more upfront portraying sexual relations than more recent Kdramas I’ve seen. I’m not saying that it contained graphic scenes, but it openly presented the concept of consenting adults having sex outside marriage. And it had what I thought was a hilarious sequence with Hyun Bin being kicked out of bed by his ladylove to go buy condoms so she wouldn’t get pregnant, and him having to go from convenience store to convenience store before he succeeded in securing them. When he finally came back to bed, she was fast asleep and didn’t want to be disturbed. Also funny was the depiction of the aftermath of their first time having sex: they’re lying next to each other in bed, quilt up to their chins, spent, and both sporting bloody-nose tissue plugs.

The impression I got from watching In-House Marriage Honey is that it was like a primer on marriage compatibility, depicting examples of a couple discovering they’re on the same page on important issues such as communication, finances, whether or not to have children, and, yes, physical intimacy.

  31. Welmaris, This is a great comment and I’ll open a thread for the discussion of “In-House Marriage Honey” and transfer this there later. Thanks.

And now, that you’ve brought it up, I’m beginning to understand why I said this drama looked and felt seedy to me. I’ll have to explain that, too. It is seedy. Maybe not for you, but it was for me.

  32. I’m trying to get the image of YY ringing @agdr03’s doorbell and wanting a signature and agdr03 taking as long as possible to write her name – dropping the pen, it not working, fainting, having him come in to get her a glass of water, etc. 😊 Finally sending him on his way with a packed lunch ’cause he has a schedule to keep, after all.

  33. Or how about @agdr03 asking YY to turn around so she could sign the tablet on his back? Hahaha.

And how about ordering a lot of things sent to her by FedEx so he becomes a regular visitor? 🤣

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @pkml3
    In-House Marriage Honey/Shanai Marriage Honey
I was in the middle of watching this series when I read @Welmaris and your review, and have just completed it. I might have just breezed through it (with some lifting of eyebrows at every ‘love’ scene) and wondered why, with all the sweetness and happy smiles, I’d still find something disconcerting about this little series. But your comment on the ‘seediness’ of it made me think about it.

On the one hand it has been given the appearance of respectability. What can be more respectable than a married couple having a great time being married. And yet, I get the feeling that the contract marriage seems to be used as a means to justify the many ‘love’ scenes. There was something ‘sleazy’ or ‘base’ about their frequency and execution. It could still have portrayed a couple falling in love, and used all that time spent on ‘love’ scenes, in on the many other attributes that make marriages work.

As it was, the couple got together as total strangers, and were married at their second meeting! And never addressed matters of greater moment than their jobs, being cute, being jealous, etc. It was only later that the question of having children and meeting the parents cropped up.

Show wanted to make the point that the sequence could be messed up but that a marriage could still work, but too much emphasis was placed on the physical aspects of the marriage, so much so that the wife practically appeared to be wanton. Show seemed to equate sex with being in a loving relationship. The wife said that she thought she could be in marriage without love, but changed her mind, and her steps to be loved included acting cute, ‘attacking’ her husband with texts/selfies, and in short in attention getting antics, usually with sex as the end objective.

I wondered if the gratuitous and slow love scenes were aimed at bringing a younger audience on board, or a less discriminating audience. Since we got most of the point of view from the woman’s side, I feel this show is aimed more at young girls. However I’d never recommend this show to my kids or any young person.

If it was to promote happy marriages, then show failed in offering good advice. Since the focus was more on the wife’s point of view, we find she had insufficient good reason to want to be married. It was a union on the rebound, after almost marrying a boyfriend of 5 years.

The wife’s attitude is flippant (and she flip flops). She was dumped, so she decided to use another guy to drown her sorrows, and within a day or a few, she’s practically throwing herself at the husband, without knowing whether he was emotionally invested in her or not. Sex seemed to be a way to ‘get’ the man. And in the office, she continues to be ‘cute’ and flirtatious with more than one male colleague.

The general tone and attitude was one of immaturity and superficiality. Even at the end, when the couple confessed how at the first meeting or at the wedding they were already drawn to each other, it was and could only have been based on being attracted by each other’s good looks.

Show makes the couple out to be interested mostly in the physical aspects of their relationship first, instead of wanting to get to know each other’s character, whether they have compatible ideas and plans for the future, and even what makes the other tick. This is the opposite from what we would do or advise our kids/young people to do in selecting their life’s partners.

I believe Japanese society (and most Asian societies) would frown on the seemingly ‘overly free’ behaviour of the woman. She seems to not value herself as she should, when she behaves like a coquette to get men’s attention. Show is demeaning and cheapens her. Show by applauding her flirtations as cute, seems to be normalising what is considered vulgar and ill-advised behaviour.

As mentioned by @Welmaris, after one bedroom scene, it could have omitted all others already, since they added nothing to the plot, but show kept on at it, practically 1 per episode, and even verging on soft porn, I feel. What is troubling also is that if this is aimed at young girls, they are being ‘educated’ on how they are to initiate, or behave and receive the advances of men. It was a ‘lesson’ repeated far too many times to be merely part of the storytelling.

So what would have been a sweet, light and fluffy, ‘innocent’ drama turned out to be somewhat sordid in the end. Pity.

  35. @Fern and QOBODs, you had me laughing when I read your comments on my way to Korean BBQ with the family. 🤣

My betcha by golly wow! If YY knocks on my door as a FedEx guy 🤔 I think I’ll definitely feel faint at the sight of him so hopefully he’ll help me by holding my arm and asking me if I’m ok and taking me back inside the house to sit me down, he’ll give me water too. Squeal! 🥰

I’ll then say that my almost 99 year old Grandmother will be coming soon and if he wouldn’t mind staying for a bit just so I can take a picture of them. 🤣 I’m sure he won’t mind because I feel he’s a good man that way. ☺️

Sorry, my imagination got me. 🤪

I haven’t started on In-House Marriage Honey as I was busy but I should be able to this week. I’ve only finished Sysyphus. 😊

  36. @agdr03, if I were skilled that way, I would photoshop a pic of him into a pic you have of your gran. 🤓 Also YY as Fedex guy at the door. 😍

  37. @packmule3 and @agdr03, For a while there actually WAS a handsome young Asian man doing deliveries around here – not Fedex but another company. Since there aren’t many Asians in this city it was unusual, but I’m pretty sure no one checked to see if he was famous. I’m not quite so perverse as to take a photo or even start a conversation when I only saw him making deliveries in the neighbourhood. 😜 He seemed to be about University age or a bit more.

It’s strange and also presumptive, but most people seeing a young Chinese-looking person around here would assume that either 1. Their family had a business here, most likely restaurant; 2. they or their parents were linked to the University as students or had medical science jobs at the Hospital or school of Medicine; or 3. if in a group of 3 or more they were tourists. Wikipedia says that this city had an Asian population of 1.52% at the last census, but that also includes South Asians and Middle Eastern Asians. You can see that we might not see Asians every day unless we go into the town centre near to the University or to the hospital/U. medical school. In short, if YY were to come to MY area, rather than Fedex or that sort of delivery, I’d hide him at the Uni or in an eating establishment. If he was good at bike riding, I’d have him working part-time doing deliveries with Deliveroo or similar.

I seem to recall a Korean idol or celeb acting as a waiter in Spain or Italy, but can’t recall who it was. I believe even BTS passed fairly unnoticed in Malta during an off-tourist season visit when the population was largely down to locals and retired immigrants.

@pm3, if ever you do a fanfic of this, please share it (with copyright). It sounds fun.

  38. DITK and the movie This is Not What I Expected are actually both good. I’m glad I saw DITK first because I would have noticed what they did / didn’t do from their take of the movie.

  39. OMG I just reached this thread (missed t earlier somehow) and if I was trying to imagine YangYang as a delivery boy too…with that slight smile of his! My heart can’t handle it!! Was trying to imagine @agdr03 and me both ordering n number of items through FedEx and taking forever to sign…LOL

I love DITK and Lin Shen-Zhao Lusi were awesome, in spite of their age difference. There is something definitely rakish about Lin Shen, but Yang Yang has a different kind of allure, as you all have pointed out. I think he will go very well with Lusi. I have watched a few episodes of The Long Ballad too and I like her even in that, just like @agdr03.

I would love to watch this C-drama with YY and ZL, whenever it comes out (need to check out You are My Glory first when its released later this year).

  40. Okie! After You Are My Glory teaser dropped, here comes Who Rules The World! Credit to the owner! No subs yet but I hope there’s a balance between the action and the romance. 🙏🏼☺️ Not sure too as to how many episodes.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CP0WgsqB5Yd/?utm_medium=copy_link

  41. @agdr03, that looks really interesting and other-worldly beautiful. Thank you.

  42. Yaay, thank you for sharing this, @agdr03! That trailer looks fabulous😍 First time I’ve seem Zhao Lusi do action scenes! And Yang Yang in that getup reminds me of Naihe🤩 The shot where YY amd ZL stand back to back and fight is so cool! I’m much more interested in watch this now than You Are My Glory. Hope this airs in 2021🤞🤞

  43. @Phoenix, I say Let’s watch both. 😍 They are sufficiently different and we get our Yang Yang fix.

  44. @Fern: I agree 🙌 Anything with Yang Yang in it is eye candy for us🤩

  45. That trailer was awesome! Thanks @agdr03.
This is like Yangyang living 100% in the Love020 game. When will it be shown and where?

  46. @Phoenix, @Fern Let’s do that girlfriends! Get our Yang Yang fix! 🙌🏻🥰

I love him in period costumes and yes, I’m reminded of our Lord Shao Nai again. 😍

@Janey, there’s no details yet as to when it will air but as far as I know they just finished filming or just finishing.

It’s interesting that they dropped the teaser after You Are My Glory. I think it’s because both cdramas are very highly anticipated. I saw some statistics on Instagram. ☺️

  47. It’ll be interesting to see YY in two shows released close to one another, to see if he can differentiate characters with his acting. Even if he can’t, I may be shallow enough to keep watching.

  48. I saw this on Instagram and I had to put it here. Why didn’t they get them together? But the visuals though! 🥰 credit to the owner!

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CS_RaqCF_jo/?utm_medium=copy_link

  49. This is going to give me a headache. Team Dilraba or Team Rosie? 😂😂

    Thanks for sharing, @agdr03.

  50. I know right? What about Team Dilraba for now because WRTW is not here yet. When it comes, Team Rosie. 😂 Seriously though, WRTW is a costume drama so it really depends on the story.

But they had fun shooting the drama, look. ☺️ credit to owner.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CO38N9Mhtrh/?utm_medium=copy_link

But I love Rosie! She’s my first with Yang Yang in the Chinese entertainment industry. 🥰

  51. I haven’t watched Rosie in anything before and I’d only seen Dilraba in the parts of love designer that I watched before dropping. I wasn’t impressed with her and her ‘look’ just didn’t appeal to me. As JingJing?? I fell in love with her. She really was sparkling sunshine and even though the comments she made about her own beauty would usually be off putting to me, I found them charming. That’s talent because I NEVER find conceit attractive. Confidence, yes. I think it also helped that YY is such a good actor — when he gazed at her with his smitten face it transferred into my brain. What’s the synopsis on this historical?

  52. I need to say that I’m doubting this drama will have the same count kisses as YAMG but please there better be some, otherwise I’ll be so upset. 😩

Oh Queen, 45 episodes supposed to be. Will this one be 1002 episodes? 😂

  53. Thanks @agdr03! Sorry I was lazy and made you do the leg work on that. I also realized I have seen Rosie in the episodes I watched of Ease Mr. Ling. I don’t remember her bothering me so that’s a good sign 😜 this story actually sounds very interesting. Perhaps I’ll keep glory as my happy pill and Rules for when I want to feel some angst.

  54. @birdie007,

Unless you’re a bitter old hag (and I don’t think you are, lol), you’re going to like Rosie.

I watched a few of her shows. Some of them I dropped.

“I Hear You” — dropped. I stayed because her leading man was Canadian-Chinese (I know, it’s a silly reason but go ahead and kill me) and I was waiting for him to say something in English. He’s a luthier; she’s a voice actress. They get together because of a reality game show where they pretended to be dating.

The Romance of Tiger and Rose — dropped. She’s a scriptwriter who dreams herself into a historical romance that she’s writing. Her love interest in her dream, the Prince, turns out to be the mean actor who snubbed her script. Dropped this because I couldn’t stand any time-traveling after “Go Princess Go”/”Mr Queen.”

Dating in the Kitchen — to be finished. This one, I recommend. 🙂 If you like “Love in the Afternoon” with Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn, you’ll like this one. Just speed through the boring parts with the secondary romance. I haven’t had the time to finish it. Which is sad.

  55. Ahhh… Love in the afternoon. I watched it years ago (when I was probably too young) and I always think it’s what planted the seed for my enjoyment of may December romances 😬 I usually skip any type of food/kitchen/chef show because watching them makes me want to eat no matter if I’m already stuffed. You may have convinced me, I’ll just be heavy handed with the ffwd. Looking it up now!

  56. @PM3 – I’m not confused about Dilraba or Rosie. It’s #teamyangyang all the way. 😉

@agdr – I have not watch any historical Cdrama so this will be my first time if ever. Is it more conservative with skinship/kisses than regular drama like the Korean ones? We were spoiled with YAMG!

@birdie – I’m surprised I liked Dilraba as JJ, too. It’s great casting. I have to see her other dramas to compare.

See you all again when this show commences.

  57. Thank you, @agdr03, girlfriend, for sharing this one. Yes, they look like they qre enjoying themselves 😊
I like Lusi/Rosie a lot, much more than Dilraba. Liked her in DITK.

However, as Janey said, I’m willing to watch almost any FL with Yang Yang because I don’t mind ignoring her😛.

I’m going to finish YAMG first, and then wait for WRTW🙌 Is that one’s release planned for next year? Must be so if they are still shooting for it.

  58. Girlfriend @Phoenix, they’ve finished shooting already so we’re waiting for the showing now. I’m not sure when it’ll be though but I’ll definitely update everyone here.

I watched Rosie on that Play Fridge variety show and she said that she had a 3 day holiday this year just before going on the show. 😱 It was a funny episode actually and it was fun to watch.

Here’s a video of it. It talks about how busy she is but she’s still learning. Credit to the owner.

  59. Now because of YAMG, I’m going to follow this thread and watch this show 😛 ARgh! For Yangyang! These people act with so many female leads for such a long time I wonder how they do not get attracted to them. Hope it is a good one, I generally love the costumes in historical dramas but I find some storylines are a little overboard as in too incredulous or the special effects a bit too fake. Gonna check out the links @agdr03 shared!

  60. @agdr03: Great to know they have finished filming WRTW, so maybe we can expect it late this year or early next year, girlfriend🙌! Thank you for sharing the IG link of Lusi’s interview. The pics are cute! She’s lost quite a lot of weight though, especially around her cheeks. I noticed that from Be At Ease, Mr.Ling when you compare her appearance there with DITK. She’s still charming though.

@grace: I always wonder the other way round – how are Yang Yang’s female co-stars ever able to concentrate on acting and how do they not end up falling for him!!😛😛 Are they made of stone?!🤔🤔🤔

  61. I binge watched all of Love in Kitchen last night/this morning. Definitely worth the watch especially when skipping through scenes that aren’t ML interactions. First half was much stronger than second. I liked his character a lot. He showed kindness, humor, and restraint from the beginning…she didn’t have to teach him those things. She was fine as a character although she ended up seeming more immature as the episodes went on. As an actress, I enjoyed her. This will be Yang Yang’s second actress in a row that also seems bubbly and sparkly in real life. It’ll be fun to spot differences in their interactions.

  62. @birdie007 I’m glad to see you’re finding enjoyment in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, despite so much of the power grid being down and many roads impassable. You’ve put your generator to good use, I think! How are recovery efforts in your community?

  63. In our area, tornados are not uncommon so our community knows the drill as far as who needs to get to work, who needs medical assistance, who lives alone—and while professional lineman do their best to get power restored, people form their own crews and go around clearing roads and houses for access. Right now, we live a little north of the coast and not far off the interstate so people evacuating lower land are all stuck in traffic. there’s very little gas available and when there is, there’s very long lines and runs out quickly. All of our exits are blocked so most are home bound. Whatever you didn’t get before, you wish you had. Luckily or unluckily, we went through Katrina so most around here learned a good lesson and now we usually lean to the side of over-preparedness. Unfortunately there’s little we can do about traffic trying to go through and everyone usually blames one side of the state government for not opening contraflow etc…thanks for asking. I’m always curious to know what’s actually going on during some type of disaster/event and I’ve found watching the news is sometimes more fiction/dramatized than these dramas we enjoy.

  64. I’m glad that you are all right, @birdie007. I hope that things return to normal as soon as possible for all affected. Ida is on the news even overseas. While the actual hurricane won’t reach Europe, it will make a bulge in the weather patterns that will cross the Atlantic. We’re now expecting a change in the jet stream. Heavy rain by the weekend here.
