Healer: Rewatch Beginning Sat, Jun 19

How many of you have always wanted to watch “Healer” but needed to have someone to chat with in real time, and to react to the love scenes at the same time?

Well, we’re here!!

@Growing_Beautifully, @Cleopatra, and @Janey are going to be the Saturday Squad to lead the rewatch. (lol. Disclaimer: they aren’t the ones shown on the gif, okay??)

@Juriel, are you joining them from your timezone? You, too, @WEnchanteur?

These rewatches are really fun to do with friends. @Janey has been doing this for — what? — six months now ever since “Start-Up” and she wakes up at dawn.

It’s recommend that you watch the drama before the rewatch so you’ll know what’s up.

Here’s a note from @Growing_Beautifully.

If ever there was a show which united my catnips of traumatised children who survived loss and tragedy, with an organic, engaging romance, (where as a bonus, the guy ends up jealous of himself!  (Hehโ€ฆ.priceless this!), and with suave exploits that get away with everything shady without murder, it is Healer.

Although the portions given over to the resident ‘evil’ are nothing much to crow about, the simpler story of how the kids overcome the obstacles to their romance, gain family and get to fulfill their dreams is so delightful, that I can rewatch the sweet moments (and there are many of them!) quite endlessly. Add to that, the heft of Yoo Ji Tae, the antics of a winning Park Min Young and the great hacker who’s an ahjumma, made the show extra entertaining and I was totally sold.

I am soooo happy that BOD is doing a rewatch of this show. Many thanks to @pkml3 for offering us a chance to enjoy, moan and sigh together over the highlights of Healer. Thanks too, to this lovely community, for enthusiastically joining in to make the rewatch bigger and better. As @pkml3 always says, “Let’s enjoy the show!!”

1) Episode 1: For the intro to the characters and their dreams
2) Episode 2: For some cool Healer action
3) Episode 5: For the dynamics of relationships and a getaway
4) Episode 8: For the elevator rescue and you know what happens after that
5) Episode 9: For the telephone convo and makeover
6) Episode 10: For the rooftop convo
7) Episode 11: For the movie date
8) Episode 14: For Healer’s turn to be ‘rescued’ in his lair
9) Episode 20: For the finale

Woah great @pkml3! I just blinked and here it is.

You know, I don’t mind being mistaken for one of those ladies in the gif. I relate to the lady in black on the right. Sorry, if they’re celebrities, and I don’t recognise them LOL.

  2. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I donโ€™t them either. I thought they looked like a motley crew so I picked them.

Because weโ€™re that, too. Weโ€™re uniquely different from each other but we get along well. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Heh! That’s a relief @pkml3. But really, I’m out of touch with entertainment from outside Korea and maybe China. I may remember only the ‘old timers’ and not be able to recognise the up and coming stars.

Yes, it’s amazing, isn’t it, that we get on just fine. Thanks so much for this thread and the rewatch!

  4. I made no progress in Healer since then. But hoppefully, the rewatch start with ep 1, 2, 5. And I watched these episodes. I should watch the others before the rewatch. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m focused and writing and corrections, and reading W full script (until now, I readed only some parts). I cleaned the files a bit more. It help a lot about format (montages, flashback, insert, etc), but also it’s nice to see what is in the script and how, even with a bad translation.
A lot of subjective parenthesis or descriptions if I compare with western screenplay. Some scene are crazy precise, attitudes of the characters, just exactly what we get on the screen, and enhanced thanks to the director and actors.
We know this was needed in the script. Even things writed in the script we don’t see on the screen, we know it was usefull for actors, director, and understanding better the script while reading.
Here, there is maybe a key-point about how kdramas are writed : much more focused on emotions in the script. Not only emotions of the characters, but emotions of the scene, and emotions of the reader as if was already watching the drama. Just what I like and want to do ! I would need to translate additional kdrama scripts to compare.

There is everything you need to learn to write a kdrama with this script. I use it a lot for my corrections. I put back some descriptions I deleted from the first draft. I deleted it because it’s was too subjective. But now I see it’s usefull and give the feeling of the scene, I just have to write it better, and it’s good. Maybe I should also think when it’s needed and I didn’t have the idea to use this. But I can’t overload with that. And W script is not overloaded with that too. On any less important scenes or description, there is a lot of factual very quick sentences. So, the difficulty is to get a good mix of that. Use it when needed, don’t use it when it’s not needed.

It’s more easy to do it in kdrama format about dialogs parenthesis : because parenthesis can be very long with the dialog on the left. Western: it’s centered and the parenthesis have a hard limit of line length, it’s impossible to detail so much, or it need to write an action line outside the dialog line.
I don’t use so much parenthesis when the meaning of the line is clear. I read sometimes some fan-fictions and it’s quite badly done, writers use description for every characters dialogs about things that bring nothing. Also, I use photo, so I have this each step and don’t need to put more. But it’s a bad reflex, if it was only text, I should be more precise.

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, good to know that you’re pegging away at your script. How does the script elicit emotions in the actor? Do you give them instructions/clues on what they are to emote?

I hope you do get past Ep 5 of Healer… perhaps it was the earlier episodes that were the stumbling blocks. Catch ya again!

  6. @GB, What we learn in screenplay lessons in western countries : only write what we see, there is not only the objective description. Aka : what do the character because of their emotions.
Kdrama script are more free of this. Sometimes, there is the emotion, or what think the character ! Even we don’t get that on the screen, we still have it in the end, because the actor will know what think the character, so make an interpretation. They are free to build more the characters and make the character act in a way, and understand more deeply what happens inside, helping to make it outside.

Some examples from episode 1 (but there is better later)…

    Here objective parenthesis :

KIM NURSE – Mr. Oh, (a quick reminder that you have saliva on your mouth)
YEON-JOO – Oh, thank you, thank you (Laughing roughly, brushing your saliva, and running toward the elevator)

YEON-JOO – (mumble) What is it..?

    SUNG-MOO – (Look up and look at the clock, it’s over 9 o’clock now) at 10 o’clock.

    Subjective parenthesis + objective :

YEON-JOO – (An unexpected question while he was churning?) Yes..? (Raising head)

    YEON-JOO – (It’s the way I always crave, cry) Sorry. It’s just Oh Yeon-Joo.

YEON-JOO – (Keep muttering alone to calm down) Pneumothorax right…? That’s right then… we have to penetrate… but there’s nothing to penetrate..?

    Fully subjective :

YEON-JOO – I see you sometimes… (it’s starting to get annoying) But why–

SOO-BONG – Sister!! (An expression that seems to have met even the savior)

YEON-JOO – (No judgment, first of all) It hasn’t been 24 hours yet. Let’s wait a bit.

A whole scene from script Nยฐ5 (episode 4 in the drama) with highly subjective content, emotions and what the character think. You can watch the scene, it’s exactly what we feel on the screen. Even if many lines look useless in the script and are not about something we see on the screen, in the end we get it. It’s an important and emblematic scene. So it’s worth it to put more into that :

#36 – Detention Center Hallway (Afternoon)

Kang Chul, ….!!! That sense of that time comes to mind clearly…
I’m sure right away. That there is Yeon-Joo’s world beyond that frame.
Kang Chul removes his hand again. Seeing his hands intact…
Looking back, the world is completely stationary…
All the truth is outside that frame. That was clear.
No, now Kang Chul has no of choice other than going to the other world.
As soon as I made a decision, I approached the hardened police and pulled the pistol out of the holster. I took out the pistol of the other police and put one behind the waist and one in the hand.
Staring at the floating black frame as if tempting…
    Walk into it with strides.
Kang Chul, disappearing into space in an instant.

Note: in the drama, Kang Chul take only ONE gun. But the script was better here, in my opinion. About other changes, most of the time, director choices are better (for what I read until now).

Now, I use that more often. An example :

    TECH GUY – … (I should have shut-up)

Here I could say objectively he lower his head, his face show disapointement, and a tons of thing to show how he is and make understand what he think. But it’s shorter, more accurate and funny the other way.
The difficulty is to do this, but not turn the screenplay into prose !

  7. @GB, guess what is it…

    Healer script, episode 1, first scene. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
I have the script except episode 11 to 14.
But I didn’t made the translation. It need a lot of work before : translate first all the character name, add some elements. Then translate with google, than clean the script with a soft I dev that remove garbage.

  8. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, you know what? I actually have the Healer script in hardcopy but it’s all in Korean so I know what you mean about how hard it is.

I agree, that the actors deliver so much more, when the script is merely what is said and not all the description on how to say it. How it turns out comes from the interpretation and work of many parties.

It’s amazing that shows are done as well as they are, since it’s such a monumental collaborative, creative process, so much richer as a result of this.

When I do the reverse, ie I transcribe what is shown on screen, I add in the emotions/actions that the actors and directors decided together to include. What I write might be 10 lines when the script might have just been 2.

  9. @GB, do you have the episode 11 to 14 too ? If you have it, give me a link where to download it.
If you wan’t a translation, not perfect, but let’s say, the best one with the means we have, we could make that. It could be very nice before the rewatch! Also, because you know the drama very well, you can spot difference script/drama. Translation problems are often the same : google trad can’t recognize when the text is about a character “him” or “he”, and translate it like “I”. So there is some nonsense in descriptions or dialogs. But if you know it come from the translation, you can interpret quick and it’s not a problem.

I converted my files on .txt, because it’s the way to work easy on it.
From then, I can send you these files.
Then, there is something I can’t do for healer drama because I don’t know it enough :
Most important : Massive replace with the characters name (use notepad++).
Let’s say, the character name is ์˜์‹ . You look at the translation, it’s Youngshin.
So Young-Shin. Then, all the files have to be open in notepad++, and make replace in all files “์˜์‹ ” by “Young-Shin”.
Then massive replace of support characters (without name), but only the pre-dialog indicator, so for example : “REPORTER1 – blahblahblah”. Here, the replace must be made on “REPORTER1 – ” and not the name everywhere. I prefer to do that because there could be problem if their name are replaced everywhere.
Once it’s done, you send me back the files, and I auto-translate and clean the files with an apps (remove garbage, format scenes header, ucase characters names in dialogs).

Your transcription I very usefull I’m sure. After doing that, you get a sens of details about characters. If you write, you will think about that. But in the script, of course, it need to be very concise and only tell the essential, what’s really important for the story or the character. You can think about your transcription and look what you could remove for a script. Or just write a script from scratch, so you know what you need. There is no need to describe every steps.

See my AS test, I reworked it and I removed a lot lot of too much detailled descriptions. Then, next time I rework it, I will focus on intensity, emotions, thrills of the scenes, as it could be better than it is. But I don’t have time to work on this for now.

  10. Ah I forgot : before to do the replace of important characters name, it need to do first the replace of their full name !!
Let’s say Young-Shin. If there is Park Young-Shin, it need to be replaced first.

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

My dear @WE, the scripts are on paper, in a book actually, in hardcopy. Please message me in MDL and we’ll talk about it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  12. @packmule3
I’m looking forward very much to the rewatch of “Healer”. And for once in my history of joining groups online, the timing is very good for me – 9 o’clock in the evening on Sunday; after dinner and the washing up. So I’ll definitely be there.
Ms Jo the hacker is catching my interest particularly. For me, she’s presented as an Athena figure, universally clever and the helper of heroes. She also reminds me of Clotho, one of the Fates in Greek mythology, although Clotho span instead of knitting. But I really am picking up a connection with western myth in “Healer”.
I started my individual watch two weeks ago, so I’ll be ready when the rewatch begins. Hello to everyone. See you in a week’s time.

  13. @GB.. aahhhaa aaah. I can do nothing about that paper thing… I will work on the txt files I have. Tomorrow. I spoted a problem with the CAPS. This script as issues, but it should be ok after some work.

  14. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Juriel, the Healer rewatch is on Saturday nights. I hope you can still join us even though it’s on Saturday (and not on Sunday).

My fave character after Healer himself is Ahjumma, or Ms Jo. I never thought of her as representing fate. LOL, she was always the character of the smartest, fastest fingers and of the most extreme in styling that I ever saw.

I loved her when Healer first meets her and his utter shock at her appearance. And then she cleans up so beautifully when she chooses to meet people outside her den. All 3 times had me guffawing at her antics. And her socks!!! I think she knitted them herself.

Then when we consider that she too has a sad backstory, what she had in her den and what she had to leave behind is poignant.

    See you!

  15. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, you should be asleep now!!! Yes, the paper thing. I was going to ask you if you would even bother to OCR the image if you got the text in jpg or if you could do anything with a pdf. It’s SOOOOO much work.

How did you get hold of the Healer script text files?

  16. It’s not text, it’s .hwp, korean office. So first it need to be put into word. ๐Ÿ™‚
I got it on a korean website when I was looking for scripts. Just luck.
I would like to get some more recents scripts but I didnt find it.
I have some episodes of various older dramas.
Healer script format have some issues. I will need to dev my apps so I detect CAPS but only CAPS outside the first character. And replace it. The script have also unbelievable things into it : there is no time indicator in scene header ! It was written like that ! crazy…
Ah worst, I check one more time : there is chariot return of some line in the dialogs (with caps) then I can’t detect anymore characters names. This damn script look like very complicate to clean.

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, then I applaud you for your diligence and persistence! I hope you get a good deal out of the script, after you put in so much effort to get it into readable French.

  18. @Growing Beautifully (GB)
Silly me; of course the rewatch will be Saturday nights. ‘Wishing your time away’ my grandmother used to say about such lapses. However, Saturday or Sunday are almost interchangeable for me these days, so I’ll be present. Thank you for the heads up.
I wouldn’t even start on toe socks, although I do have a couple of patterns. I once was a quite formidable knitter myself, so there’s another connection between me and Ms Jo).

  19. @GB, I need to analyse more, it will take some time. Not so easy than “W” script.
Also, now, I’m not 100% sure if it’s the original script or a transcript (in this case this is no use).

  20. Kalimera from my part of the world!

I really like this gif from the beginning. I can relate with both the middle and right lady. I can be both but in different times, LMAO!

I am really happy that we will do this rewatch party with @GB and @Janey! So glad that @Juriel and @WE will be on board!

Let us all be happy with Healer’s antics!

I have talked about it with @GB before our main OTP was the reason I couldn’t watch The K2 after Healer.

Park Min Young and Ji Chang Wook were perfect in their roles.

As for my most favorite Ahjumma, Kim Mi-Kyung is the best!

And I respect Yoo Ji-Tae because he has the ability to speak clearly (ฮฌฯฮธฯฯ‰ฯƒฮท ฮปฯŒฮณฮฟฯ…) and that is a must in a theatrical actor.

Let the party begins. Greece 4pm time!

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Kalimera and I see you’re as excited as I am, @Cleo!!

In my notes, besides yourself and @pkml3, and of course me, these are the BoDers who’ve expressed interest in joining the rewatch.
    @WE
    @Sayaris
    @Fern
    @Janey
    @OAL
    @nrllee
    @Viva
    @Juriel

The party is still open to more who care to join us. See you next week!!!

  22. @GB NOOโ€ฆ.Iโ€ฆmustโ€ฆresistโ€ฆHealer is a rabbit hole. I fell so hard for JCW in this that I couldnโ€™t watch him in any other drama post Healer. Nothing could hold a candle to this role. Sighโ€ฆnoโ€ฆI need to move onโ€ฆHP2 will probably have all my attention. And hubbyโ€™s gotten me to watch Sweet Tooth on Netflix (itโ€™s pretty cute). The beanie kissโ€ฆarghโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜.

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL @nrllee… so you were one of those ruined by Healer. There were many viewers who admitted to not being able to move on from the show for quite a while. Or who were not able to accept seeing either member of the OTP acting opposite someone else.

I was and am still strangely more taken with the fact that the show brought in a community of friends. My addiction was to the commenting community rather than just to the show per se. However this show always raised good feelings, and hence is much loved by me.

  24. @nrllee, same! JCW’s last show for me was Suspicious Partner. I no longer can see him onscreen. I pretty watched him in all his projects except Empress Ki. The longest sageuk I ever watched was Jumong. I am not gonna spend that amount of hours with Empress Ki๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคญ And to think I completed Warrior Baek Dong Soo for him and dismissed the FL (she was maggot btw) as soon as she appeared ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. JCW, my once upon a time. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Healer is fun, cute and all. Enjoy the fun rewatch ladies and gens!

@nrllee I started Sweet Tooth last night. Omg the babies are sooooo cuteeeee! And our little deer. Gosh he is soooo adorable! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

  25. Hi,
I made a acceptable translation of Healer screenplay (all episodes, and should be the original screenplay).
I send a message to GB with a link to download.
If anybody here is interested, maybe it should be more easy to see that with packmule3, to give the download link on a protected article.

    Excerpt from Episode 1 :

    _________________________________________________
    #18 Jung Hoo’s house / night

The atmosphere of the interior is completely different from the bleak atmosphere outside that you can see as you pass the wooden beams that are roughly leaning against the wall. If you turn to one side, a few photos are framed and placed on a vintage box.
picture frame on shelf1. A photo of five friends. Among them, Jun Suk’s face is close-up. If you pan sideways, it’s framed2. A young Jun Suk with the same face as Frame 1 is holding a newborn baby (Jung Hoo). This is a family photo of Jung Hoo’s mother (young) and the three of them together. And next to him is a picture of Jung Hoo, who is about middle school, with his grandmother. frame 3.
The interior of the house continues to be sketched.
A wide space. In the middle of it, there is a ridiculously luxurious bed that lies loosely. A desk full of monitors. One of the sofas, which is high-class, but lacks a pair. A few of the clothes I was wearing were laid on top of it.
On one side of the sink, a microwave oven and a box of instant rice and ramen are stacked next to it.
Words that start to be heard in the middle of the sketch. with the sound of heavy breathing.

    JUNG HOO (OS) – Okay… Yeah. That’s it. Ugh… You… I admit that I have good physical strength… I admit that I’m sexy…

In one of the empty spaces, Jung Hoo is exercising vigorously while wearing glasses. Whether they are playing squash or table tennis, their hands or opponents are still invisible. When viewed from the side, it pretends to hit something towards the empty space. The look of Jung Hoo running here and there and dashing like he’s going down is weird. Sweat dripping down from intense exercise for a long time. rough breathing. I’m running close to sliding here and there and hitting the virtual ball.

    JUNG HOO – But, uh…

I almost fell for it, so I just took it.

On the other side of the screen, the beautiful avatar character counters the ball passed by Jung Hoo and passes it over. The beauty is wearing a table tennis player uniform.
(A long time bar is drawn on one side of the screen at the top of the screen, which is decreasing over time, and two hearts remain next to it. In the virtual game reality, Jung Hoo and the game avatar are playing table tennis in the first person view. )
Jung Hoo in first person bounces the ball hit by the beauty.

JUNG HOO (OS) – What are the clothes like? so covered up

An avatar beauty with an expressionless face beats the smashing forcefully. Follow the ball with Jung Hoo’s gaze in first person, and he flies sideways but misses.
A large letter appears in the center of the screen with a beep sound.
Failed. The time bar above is reset, and one of the two hearts is broken.

Jung Hoo fell while flying and was rolling on the floor. I moaned and stood up and kept moaning.

JUNG HOO – Is there no function to choose clothes for this? If I were a developer, I made it first. One bikini. Twice volley dance. No. 3 white lace maid outfit.

and ready to serve. Jumping and waving his empty hands as if he was holding a table tennis club. (The smart ring that is placed on the second finger of the hand. It is a broad ring that looks crude and does not stand out. )

    JUNG HOO – Oh Mr..
MIN JA (OS) – Aren’t you working?
JUNG HOO – What is it?
MIN JA (OS) – Very simple.
    JUNG HOO – When.
MIN JA (OS) – Now. Right away.

Jung Hoo reluctantly stands up. He took off his sweat-soaked shirt and grabbed the large towel hanging beside him, wiping the sweat.

    JUNG HOO – Suspicious.
    MIN JA (OS) – What.
JUNG HOO – Since Auntie said it was simple, there was nothing simple. But is it that simple? you’re absolutely winning

Jung Hoo looks at the picture for a moment and then exits the screen again. Remaining uninhabited photos. A deserted island in a green forest surrounded by the blue sea.

JUNG HOO (VO) – two and a half hours by speedboat from the Panama Canal. This uninhabited island in the middle of the crazy blue sea, dense with trees, and even a natural spring in the middle. he is my dream

  26. Hey @WE,

    I am interested too!

  27. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @WE
Thanks a million for the Healer screenplay. I was able to open it and yes, it looks like the original with some changes, but we know all scripts are not taken 100% as they are and rendered exactly for the finished product.

I found 1 thing an eye-opener already and am eager to read more of it to see what else I missed.

@WE, do you think the script needs to be on a protected thread? Will it be okay to post the link for anyone who’d like the script?

    @Cleo, I’ll email you separately.

  28. #squadgoals

Iโ€™m here for the wonderful commenting community and the โ€œbondingโ€ that rewatch creates. something that I really cherish in this pandemic and โ€œvirtualโ€ times. And what more pleasure to watch-share a good show like Healer! We have to think of whatโ€™s next after. LOL!

Healer is one of my first kdramas and the only one with JCW that Iโ€™ve finished. His other roles pale in comparison as some of you have said. I also like PMY here and was shocked to discover she was the same actress as Sec Kim! I was a kdrama newbie then. Props to them for creating unforgettable characters!

@WE – what dedication you have on the scripts. Iโ€™m learning a lot from your posts. Will read it as I catch up on the threads.

@nrllee and @miracle – my fam also started watching Sweet Tooth!

  29. I’ll be there for the Healer rewatch. I very much enjoyed that Kdrama the first time I watched it. I look forward to chatting about it, and dissecting it, with other fans.

  30. @miracle23 I didnโ€™t mind Suspicious Partner either. K2 fizzled out for me. The politics made little sense. And it didnโ€™t help that I actually preferred the older YoonAh to the younger YoonA. ๐Ÿ˜‚. But none of them quite lived up to Healer. Couldnโ€™t sit through so many eps for Empress Ki and never watched Warrier Baek either. His other dramas after that were just disastrous.

  31. Growing Beautifully (GB)

JCW was quite lovable in Lovestruck in the City. I don’t mind rewatching that short series.

  32. Yes, @GB, JCW even was successfully comedic in Lovestruck in the City. Comedy is hard to do well. Comedy artists can often do drama convincingly, but dramatic artists can struggle with comedy. Seeing JCW punch his pillow was funny, even though I empathized with his frustration.

  33. So, is the rewatch like live tweeting where you comment as the drama plays in real time? I would like to join in the fun but if we have to do real time commentary then I’m afraid I won’t be able to as there is real life issues for me that take my time. My aunt fell and broke her collarbone in 2 places. Her arm is in a sling so I am going to be staying with her to help her as she only can use 1 arm and also take care of my 96 yr old grandmother. (My aunt lives with my grandmother) So I fit my drama watching in as I can- can’t really be on a set schedule at the moment. Can we comment later as long as it’s before the next episode watch? If not, hopefully I will be able to join in towards the end of the rewatch once my aunt is better.

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Table122000 You do not need to be watching live with us if you cannot, because we have several on the HP rewatch who only come and comment the next day or days after. We still go back to read the thread and reply. If you can pop in and out on Saturday night, that may also be good enough.

I feel for you @Table, my mum-in-law suffered multiple mini strokes and is in hospital now. My family will be doing care giving too once she’s discharged. I’m praying that she’ll be able to regain more of her abilities. Let’s pray for each other!

  35. @Table – so sorry to hear about your aunt. I hope she will recover soon. As @GB said, do what is good timing for your rewatch posts. No pressure. May rewatching The Healer can be a good respite for you while you do your caregiving responsibilities to your aunt and grandma.

@GB – oh my, your mum in law had mini strokes? Iโ€™m glad thereโ€™s a diagnosis already and treatment can begin. Praying for her recovery. TC!

  36. Kalimera Ladies!

@WE Thank you for the script!

@GB, So, your mum-in-law had mini strokes? Oh my!

@Table, so sorry to hear about your aunt. I do hope for a speedy recover.

  37. @GB thanks for noting my interest. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope MIL is steady.

@Table – sorry about your Aunt. Re rewatch – I rewatched HP when I can in my own time and joined the discussion later. It is still fun to share ideas and hear what the others think on an old favourite. ๐Ÿ™‚

I like JCW the best in Healer. Next would be Empress Ki and Suspicious Partner. @nrllee I also hope he would go with the older woman in K2. *light spoiler* I thought the chemistry is the best when he went in with the umbrella to rescue her from the family meeting. *spoiler ends*.

I put a hold in Lovestruck in the city after ep 2 and may go back one day. I am curious with his upcoming project, isn’t he a magician or something?

My attendance could be infrequent but I will try to catch my favourite elevator episode ๐Ÿ™‚

Now off to do some HP ep 12 rewatch.

  38. First, thanks to everyone for their prayers/wishes/positive vibes regarding my aunt. Very much appreciated.

Thanks for answering my question regarding the rewatch. I’m looking forward to participating!

@GB So sorry to hear that your mother-in-law suffered several mini strokes. My uncle suffered a stroke 2 years ago, and with therapy was able to make a full recovery. Keeping your mother in law, you, and your family in my prayers and that she also makes a full recovery.

  39. Growing Beautifully (GB)

Thank you my dear @Table122000. Caring for your senior relatives is really no joke. Kudos to you. May you always have the peace and strength to do all that you have to.

  40. I just started Healer n the story gripped me! If time allows, I would join the rewatch ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks Ladies for this thread!

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

That’s great @2uke! The ‘children’s’ story was heart-wrenching and as adults, their story was still touching and full of heart, and of course hot. LOL.

  42. @GB Yes, agreed. The children’s story was heart-wrenching, Young-shin n Healer’s first date was enchanting-, lol hot… ๐Ÿ˜€ I like the scene where they held hands at the cinema n later YS almost held Bong-Su’s hand, atm surely she felt his hand was familiar. I’m ard Ep10 now, woah this has 20Ep. Btw, I’m a little confused if Mun-Ho’s first love is Ji-an or Myung-hee?

  43. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@2uke Moon Ho as a child really liked Myung Hee because she was compassionate towards him, unlike his rather cold brother (Moon Shik). She was a mother substitute as he was an orphan.

When Ji An was born, Moon Ho was already around 10 years old, and he was a teenager when he was baby sitting Ji An and Jung Hoo. He was very fond of them.

I don’t think we can call them his first loves in the sense of a romantic love. He was just very attached to them as to family, and was extremely sad that they were ‘damaged’ or missing and that his brother had something to do with this.

He felt guilty when he did not do something to help Ji An and Myung Hee, but at the same time he was burdened with another kind of guilt should he expose his brother. Moon Ho was in torment for many years and that’s why his dream was not to dream – he always had that nightmare (shown in Ep 2, I think)

We do however see that once he is free of guilt, he is able to have a relationship again with Kang Min Jae (his ex-TV station boss).

  44. @GB Thank you for yr explanation! Right, it was that he told Min Jae that his first love is still in his heart that they broke up at first, so I was wondering who is his first love. N if there would be a love triangle between the three of them- YS, Mun-ho n Jeong-hu lol, apparently not. What you said make perfect sense to me now I’m further in episodes ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @pkml3 Happy almost weekend to you! Will we be using this thread for the Rewatch, or will you be creating a fresh Rewatch thread for Healer?

  46. Iโ€™ll create a new one for you, @GB.

Do you want a new write-up for it? Just tell me.

Make sure when you email me to put HEALER in the subject line. My inbox is a mess right now, as you can imagine, bec of HP.

  47. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

My dear @pkml3, many thanks as always. No, I don’t think another write-up is necessary. Just please include the Episodes that we plan to watch like you did above, and any gifs that you can easily find.

LOL, yes…. I did wonder about your mailbox. You must be getting close to a couple hundred each week. I shall not add to your mess.

    Catch you on the rewatch!!

  48. Yesterday, almost 400 email notifications went in, but I only opened nrllee’s and miracle23’s mails, and a couple of others from posters I know.

I’m not wading through all those. If I allocate only 1 minute per post, that’s still 400 minutes right there. 400 minutes I could better spend on watching the drama or reviewing it or just hanging out.

So I’m awfully grateful to you, nrllee, miracle23, welmaris, cleopatra, and the veterans and regulars who just knew what to do and welcomed the newcomers. THANKS!!!

    pm3

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

You’re most welcome @pkml3. The least that we can do, for all the space and opportunities for community fun, and brain exercises that we engage in, because you offer these to us here. I’m extremely glad to be hanging out with such a good bunch of analytical ‘reviewers’ who are willing to read, reflect, and share their thoughts.
