2D1N: Ep 116 Open Thread

The thread is open, @Fern and @nrllee.

The men will form three teams. Clockwise from left: the “Two Johns,” the “Big and Small,” and the “Young and Old.”

I think the caption says “Fantastic Chemistry, coming soon!”

For me, this is the team to watch.

The caption says, “Nan ‘John’ Kim” or “I ‘John’ Kim” and “Neon ‘John’ Na” or “You ‘John’ Na”.

Let’s enjoy the show.

  1. It looks like the two Johns are already making each other laugh. I’m guessing that the others have had similar pairings in earlier episodes, so the novelty (and chaos) will be with the dream pairing of the 2 Johns.

Thank you for the preview, @packmule3.

  2. ๐Ÿ˜‚ The 2 Johns.

  3. Not my fault. ๐Ÿ˜†

  4. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ The 2 Johns are killing me! They get distracted so easily. Both are just as random. Their conversations are so left field and go on weird tangents ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. O my goodness they have the funniest conversations that go nowhere. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. I am dying of laughter.

SeYoon is all about food and he canโ€™t decide which he likes better. DinDin only eats once a day? ๐Ÿค”.

Poor Ravi has to listen to JungHoon rattle on about raising kids.

I am amazed that the 2 Johns win the balance the ball game? Ingenious of them to clamp the ball instead of balancing it like the other teams did. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. I guess being simpletons has its perks.

Thoroughly enjoyed this ep. Looking forward to next week. ๐Ÿฅฐ

  5. @nrllee,

Did you get what Jongmin said about resembling caterpillars when they were doing the lunch game? Did he mean that they were slow like caterpillars or that they inched forward like caterpillars? Huh? ๐Ÿค”

And what does Inwoo want to say when he talked about meat? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค”

    Theyโ€™re a weird couple alright.

Iโ€™m excited to see how the questionnaire will be used by the PD. Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s not just a matter of memorizing the answers.

  6. Good Morning @packmule3 and Good evening, @nrllee. I thought that Dindin isn’t as bright as he thinks he is if after all this time he skips breakfast whilst filming this show. Tsk. His mother will text him about that.

Jong Min tying the strings around his waist had me howling. Then when he wants to know the ends, Dindin encourages him, knowing that it’s disastrous. Imo, Jong Min discovered the trick of trapping the ball between the two strings, so credit to him. Before that they dropped the ball almost as soon as it was placed. But without In Woo’s height, they might not have been able to score the 20 points. If I were Dindin, I would have asked for a more fair height for my turn.

Against all odds, the 2 Johns win the first game. Surely they won’t win the memory game as well? I think that Ravi and Jung Hoon have that down because they planned and matched their answers to an extent. But in the trailer, In Woo is still sticking his tongue out at someone, so they must be doing all right.

I think with the meat, Inwoo was trying to create a metaphor but ended up being incomprehensible.

My translation had In Woo say ‘Our heads are like centipedes’, which might make a bit more sense as they have separate legs that move in a metachronal wave, while their heads stay still. I had to Google that, but In Woo had this trivia in his brain. I think he might be good at pub quizzes. Hmmm. If his brain is like Jong Min’s they may understand each other better than any of the others understand either of them.

  7. Sorry, *knot* the ends.

  8. @packmule3 I honestly had no idea what the pair of them were talking about a lot of the time. It was conversation that seemed to go nowhere ๐Ÿ˜‚. But strangely though, even though it seemed to make zero sense to me, the pair of them โ€œgot each otherโ€? Like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. ๐Ÿ˜‚. It was like they were functioning at some totally different radio frequency that only the 2 of them were tuned in to? And that was the funniest part of it. It made no sense that they would win the lunch game but they did. ๐Ÿ˜‚. I donโ€™t remember what IW said about meat but he seems just as random as JongMin? JongMin didnโ€™t even remember being there are that loach soup place when he actually signed his name on the wall? ๐Ÿ˜‚. Dec 2020 wasnโ€™t that long ago? Honestly this is a side of IW I didnโ€™t expect at all.

Isnโ€™t that just slug soup they ate for lunch? The slugs/loaches that HeeDo and the crew were catching when they visited SWโ€™s home? ๐Ÿ˜‚.
