    Thanks @pkml3!

  2. Thank you, @packmule3. We’re back on the ‘Boyfriend Express’. 🚉🛤️

  3. Thank you @Packmule3!

    Let us enjoy tonight’s episode!

    @Fern what a lovely Express…*winks*

  4. It was an awesome episode. Is this a kiss weekend? My favourite dramas are all ending with kisses this week….and initiated by the ladies too (including second lead couple SungHoon & YoungSeo). Is this a trend?

I loved how TaeMoo had really good advice from SungHoon to wait, and that he heeded his secretary/brother’s advice, even though it is reallly difficult to wait. one week..he waited one week for her answer. I loved that he is sincere, ernest and doesn’t give up easily. I love that at the end he still told her he will keep pursuing her till she has feelings for him…I gotta rewatch that scene again later.

Ciao gotta go for now catch up soon after I get some studying done. Had fun watching this episode

  5. Oh! What a lovely episode! I enjoyed it very much!

Except…the confrontation that Tae Moo had with Min Woo.
I told you that Min Woo is a douchebag in the square. He is worst than the webtoon! That’s why he is paired with such an awful girlfriend as well…

  6. My favourite episode so far… full of delights and I found myself grinning like a Cheshire cat in the first half.

Agree that Min Woo is disloyal to Ha-Ri at so many levels…

Tae Moo is adorable in the taxi with the – then – depressed Sung Woo… kicking himself for giving Ha-Ri plenty of time to think it over!

Yes, kisses very satisfying in this episode! I didn’t think we would get one with our main couple…so am pleased.

  7. *Sunghoon* – apologies. I think his character is pretty gorgeous too btw and I love the subtle man to man humorous and wise interplay between him and Tae Moo… It’s all very relatable.

  8. Enjoyed Ep. 7 Comedy keeps coming. I was worried that the misunderstanding between 2nd couple would get dragged out but so glad they resolved it this ep- and now they are officially a couple!

Rather surprised at how Grandfather didn’t really protest about Tae Mu breaking up with Geum Hui. Interesting. Anyway, how exciting to get our first OTP kiss! Loved that Ha-ri initiated it!
Looking forward to Ep. 8 and the “official date”, but not looking forward to Min Woo making trouble.

  9. I was watching one of those promo games with our two leads and the adorkable qualities we see in Tae Moo do seem to be reflected in the actor portraying him…AHS… he and our female lead present an introvert extrovert contrast in real life … AHS is an INTP, apparently, for those of you who are Myers Briggs fans. He is an introverted intuitive thinker…and KSJ is an ENTP and is a strong personality, a high energy extrovert. She describes him as ‘unique’ and you can see that he is a little puzzled at times by her laughter at times responding to things he says.

  10. I liked the OTP’s kiss duplicated by the painting on the wall and reflected in the mirror.

Ah, finally some rapprochment. I liked Tae-moo’s description of how crazy Ha-ri is. He’s telling the truth as he feels it – she didn’t know that she affected him like that.

  11. Also, there’s a Mr Darcy moment when Ha-ri realises that he defended her and Young-seo secretly in a similar way to how Darcy went after Wickham and hoped to keep it secret.

  12. @Fern = I was having Darcy moments in this episode too!

  13. @Kate,
Good woman! It was a very satisfying episode imo.

  14. @Fern… so agree. Very satisfying indeed! I am re-watching before bed.

  15. Waaaaaa! It was a very good episode. Worthy of a few rewatch. 🥰

Hari-ya, you said things from your mind but your body did the action. 😍

  16. Ha! @agdr03, I thought you might like that ending.

  17. You know me so well @Fern 😉

  18. @agdr03, I can go to bed feeling content.😊

  19. Sweet dreams indeed!

    Night chinggu! 🤗

  20. Although I still wish he had a stronger chin, AHS has completely grown on me. Maybe because I’ve watched more BTS and interviews and it seems like it’s his actual personality and not that he’s just a bad actor. Or maybe he’s a bad actor because he can’t hide his personality?? Whatever the case, the fact that his personality matches tae moo’s is working for me.
I’m not the biggest fan of the trope where the rich guy is so in love and wowing the girl and her friends with his money and connections but as per usual with this show, the effects had me cracking up.
Other funny moments: when her coworker that took too many nerve pills and said “blood!” before passing out on the table made chortle.
And when HaRi kissed TM they showed the camera angle where HE was the one doing the dumb shocked fish face before joining in the kiss. They didn’t even bother to make the shots look cohesive from the first angle of his head going in and then the shot of his stunned face.
I’m excited to see a fun date with no pretending and I also hope they get back to the office to see how he handles an office romance (which I can only enjoy seeing when it’s FICTION)

Hi @pkml3, yes the hotel is the same one at which TM and his grandfather did the Opening Ceremony. I don’t think they owned the hotel though as there was someone else who thanked them for their help.

So the question of how TM knew where to find HR is answered. He had kept calling her while her phone battery was being charged, and the hotel staff answered the call.

    @pkml3 @Fern @Cleo @agdr03 @Kate @birdie007 @Table122000 @grace

    Ad Hoc Thoughts

Tae Moo as clingy rich boyfriend was so cringeworthy but so entertaining. Ha Ri looked like she had goosebumps at each of his cheesy lines. LOL the winking interlude, with HR looking totally aghast. I loved the use of animation to highlight the cheesiness.

TM saved HR from the lie that she had a boyfriend and he even apologised for abandoning her. Since he said he’d cancelled his meeting, she admitted to being worried for nothing. So she had indeed suspected that he might have been affected by the rain.

I laughed when HR and TM overheard the girls saying that TM was so handsome and he nodded his head in agreement. 🤣

I noted that while the other 2 girls watched all of TM’s cheesy devoted, clingy boyfriend moves in true admiration and envy (they each had either 1 pink heart that became 2 and then 3 pink hearts over their heads), Min Woo’s gf, Yoo Ra, suffered envy, anger and resentment (only 1 purple heart all the way).

Similarities between Ha Ri and Tae Moo
    1) They love food and food research
    2) They can spin convincing tall tales
    3) They go all out in what they decide to do and can both act convincingly to fool others
    4) They help out their friends at short notice

When TM said to Min Woo : “In my eyes, Ms Shin is someone with endless charm. So don’t you dare judge my girlfriend ever again. Is that clear?” – It reminded me of Twenty-Five, Twenty-one where Yi Jin told ex-boyfriend Jung off. Same sentiments from the bad-losers and defence by the good ‘boyfriends’?

After this sass from Min Woo, TM’s competitive spirit was awakened. He approached the fishing pole like it was a rifle and went crazy trying to beat his ‘rival’ Min Woo, LOL. I like that he apologised for not noticing that HR was ill while he was busy trying to one-up Min Woo.

I like that he’s straightforward about his intentions all along. He was determined to date with a view to marriage, not to toy with anyone. He’s the kind of guy one can bring home to old-fashioned dads who’ll ask the guy : ‘What are your intentions?’. 😁 😇 😂

  22. @GrowingBeautifully-
Yes, Tae Mu as the “perfect boyfriend” was hilarious! Just watching Ha-ri’s horrified face at his cheesy lines was LOL! I think my favorite was when Ha-ri needed to go to the bathroom and Tae Mu jumped up and said he was going with her because he couldn’t bear to be separated from her. Ha-ri’s expression was just so funny! And then when she realizes her friends approve of this move-hahaha! (The pink hearts above their heads grow from 1 heart to 2 hearts-LOL!

I also like when Tae Mu told off Min Woo this episode.

  23. Awww what a nice ending of ep 7. All these cheesy lines! Do you know what my love for you and this credit card have in common? They both have no limit! Lol. All these lines/scenes should be made into memes! The cheesy level is so high I wonder saying these lines mustn’t be that easy for the AHS lol. It would quite hard not to laugh for KSJ I imagine!

@GB yes all those heart levels. So funny and comical 😀

Totally agree this is an episode re-watching!

Archaeopteryx effect is doing well again! I cracked out laughing when the entire bird is sitting on Hari’s mobile phone at the beginning of the episode. It’s also nice to see Hari’s side after TM’s confession. She wasn’t happy or excited at first which worries me. Fortunately, seeing her keep thinking about TM gives me some more assurance. I also like that TM doesn’t just give up on her that easily.

  24. Yes! Those animations were funny. 😂

I liked that Taemoo was still trying to help Hari on the friends chat by saying things like ‘just tell them I fell in love with you at first sight. If it’s too cheesy for you, do you want me to type it?’. 😂

I liked that he’s pretend was all honesty from him and telling Hari about it at the end of the trip was just right. ☺️

I wonder though what happened to the bag that she brought? Taemoo put it in the trunk of the car. I thought it was an overnight bag. I guess it doesn’t matter because they had to match. 🥰

  25. @agdr03 yes I was wondering why didn’t she changed into the clothes from the overnight bag. It is nice to watch TM got her new clothes. In the re watch I noticed she has a smile on her face, so she was impressed how thoughtful he was. 🙂 A nice trope to watch!

I noticed Hari wasn’t that comfortable with all his initial confessions when he said in the pretend boyfriend mode. I guess she is trying hard not to be swayed by his affections. TM knows how he felt. In comparison, Hari didn’t know how to answer her friends’ questions. I guess, dating TM is never something she thought of. She was going to reject him! She was matching her qualification to TM: look, good school and wealthy family. In the yacht we saw TM didn’t care about that, but Hari was yet to believe that.

Maybe we will find out how they approach that “perceived gap” in the upcoming episodes. How are they going to tell their work mates?

Also, when will TM overcome his trauma in the rain? He did end up “cancelling the meetings” in the rain to meet her.

  26. Agree @Viva, Hari wasn’t comfortable because she didn’t really think that Taemoo would like her. That’s why she was pinching/slapping herself. 😁

Also the weekend was extravagant and she wasn’t used to that.

I think Hari is aware of the rain issue with Taemoo so hopefully it won’t be dragged too long.

Me too, I want to see how they’ll come out in public as a couple and to grandpa.

I loved that Taemoo really made her his priority over work. ☺️

  27. @Birdie007,
I thought so too about the angles of the kiss. When she kissed him first, I thought he closed his eyes but the next scene had him in fish eye mode. (Another troupe?)

@GB, thanks for pointing out how TM & HR is similar! Yes they both are rather good at acting convincingly to fool. 😅

I wonder how their differences will become a challenge in their relationship in the episodes to come. Grandpa will also be a hurdle since he already have a bad impression of Hari. I wonder how they will play on the rich family troupe thing with Grandpa.

  28. Hello Ladies,

The kiss between Tae Moo and HaRi played out the same as in the webtoon.
What I mean is that Tae Moon in the kdrama reacted exactly in the same as the Tae Moon in the webtoon. There is a picture that you can see on SNS about it… *winks*

  29. Correction: reacted exactly in the same way!

  30. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Thanks for the info @Cleo! @Viva, @agdr03, @grace

Yes, HR has a hard time believing because in their culture, the divide between chaebol who is president and his employee is very great. There will be a lot of trash talking behind HR’s back or even in front of her. She alludes to it indirectly in her rejection. It’s also true that this kind of relationship usually does not work out. HR was being prudent in rejecting TM.

Min Woo also skimmed that kind of thinking/talk when he questioned TM about ‘why of all people it had to be Ha Ri’ since TM could date anyone he liked of his own status. It almost sounded like Min Woo resented TM for taking a girl away from him, because she was of the right status to like Min Woo… TM should stick to girls of his own status and not ‘fish in Min Woo’s waters’ so to speak. LOL. Might this also be an interpretation of what Min Woo meant?

While waiting for the next episode, I ended up transcribing a few of the dialogues between our fave OTP.

On the catamaran/yacht HR’s friends ask how TM and HR came to date.
Min Woo : “How did you two start dating? It’s not common for a president to date his employee.”
TM : “I followed her around because I fell for her at first sight.” (It is sort of the truth but HR does not believe that).
LOL Ha Ri’s expression of total disbelief as she thinks to herself : “Love at first sight? You probably thought I was crazy.”
TM tells the group : “I’ve never met anyone as crazy as Ha Ri. It was refreshing.”
HR turns to look at him in surprise. Her friends too look a bit stunned.
TM : “Every time we met, she would do something weird and say the craziest things.” TM laughs at a memory and says to HR : “Do you remember what you said?”

Flashback to Ha Ri as Geum Hui, loudly proclaiming : “Two-timing… I’ve never done that in my life. Though I’ve seen three or four guys at the same time.”

In the present TM says while HR smiles at the memory : “Later I found out that she was only trying to push me away because she realised I was interested in her.”
They ask what she didn’t like about him and HR can’t answer.

TM continues : “When we met for the second time, I proposed to her. But she turned it down immediately. So I had no choice but to go on blind dates with other women. But the more I did that, the more I thought of her.” (Ha Ri looks at TM throughout this part. She does not really believe he is speaking the truth, but he is.)
“So I asked her to see me again.”
HR thinks : “How is he so good at making lies sound like the truth?”
HR to TM : “So stop asking me to get married to you so early in our relationship.”
TM puts his arm around her shoulders : “Okay. She hasn’t dated many guys, yet she’s so good at playing hard to get. She always keeps me on my toes.” He laughs and everyone joins in except Min Woo who’s brooding.

    = = =
In the car, TM waits for HR to wake up after getting treatment at the hospital.
HR : “We’re here? You should have woken me up.”
TM : “I couldn’t since you were sleeping so soundly. Are you feeling better now?”
HR : “Yes. Since I got treated and got some sleep, I feel a lot better now.”
TM answers a phone call but tells the caller that he would call back later.
HR : “I’m sorry. It’s all because of me.”
TM : “Why do you keep apologising?”
HR : “Well you wasted you time just to act like my boyfriend, and you had to go through all that trouble today with the boat and everything.”
TM : “Don’t be sorry. I did it all because I wanted to.”
HR looks at him in surprise : “What?”
    His phone rings again.
HR : “I should get going now. Get home safely.” She grabs her bag and exits the car.

TM thinks a while instead of answering his phone.
He gets out of the car and calls out to her.
TM : “Ms Shin, do you really not know?”
He walks up to her : “Why I spent the entire weekend pretending to be your boyfriend when I hate wasting my time more than anything? Why I went through your SNS to find out the things you like, and why I put off my meetings for you? Do you really not know?”
    HR : “What?”
TM : “I have feelings for you/I like you Ms Shin. I know it must feel sudden. It’s the same for me too. I was too jealous of Chef Lee to realise you were feeling sick. I’m an idiot.” (Ha Ri is staring up at him but she looks down at this point.) “So stop apologising to me. I’m the one who should be apologising.”

Later we find out that he also added…
TM : “I know you must be flustered because it is out of the blue. I won’t rush you, so take your time to think things over and let me know.”
(The thing is though, that we find he will have a hard time accepting her decision if it’s a rejection. LOL.)

    = = =
Grandfather goes looking for TM in the furniture store.
TM and HR are hiding behind a wall panel listening to Grandfather say that if TM would not get back together with Geum Hui, then he’d have to go on blind dates again.
HR stares up at TM. He looks at her and when Grandfather leaves he explains : “I told my grandfather that we broke up. After all, I can’t introduce you as Shin Geum Hui forever.”
HR : “Go on the blind dates.”
TM : “Are you rejecting me right now?”
    HR nods her head.
    TM : “What’s the reason?

HR : “There are so many reasons. What would your grandfather say if he knew about this situation? Not to mention the other employees.”
TM : “I’m not asking about others. I only want to hear what you think.”
HR : “Me too/It’s the same for me. I don’t think it’s going to work out.”
TM : “Do you really not have any feelings for me?”
HR does not reply and she does not look at him.
TM takes this as a negative. He sighs : “I understand.”

TM : “Then let me say this again. I have feelings for you, Ms Shin. And I won’t give up. If you reject me, I’ll ask you out again and again. Until you finally like me back. So you need to brace yourself.”
HR : “Why do you keep making it so hard for me? Why do you keep being nice to me and make me think about you?” (This is the first clue that she actually returns his feelings.)
“You make me wonder if it really might work out, even though I know that it never could.” (The second clue that she could be open to a romantic attachment with him.)
“It’s obvious that I’m not the right girl for you. So why…why do you keep making me want more?” (The 3rd clue that she could be swayed.)
“Stop liking me. Stop trying to get close to me.”
TM : “What you’re worried about will never happen. I promise.” (I guess he’s referring to her saying that it would never work out.) “So just stay by my side.”
HR looks him for a few seconds in the eye, and then her gaze shifts to his lips.
She moves to kiss him and he meets her half way but in surprise, before he returns the kiss properly.

  31. Another fun episode! Most of you already hilited the funny and endearing parts. I don’t like this extended circle of friends of HR. They are so judgmental of HR and tacky in front of TM. And Minwoo – He was really an asshat here. He puts HR down so I don’t know what HR saw in him. I’m ok with a friend saying to my boyfriend “ make her cry and I will beat you” or something like that. But to ask “ why her when you can have any girl?” Is such a douche move even if the intent is to “protect” HR.

Glad the 2nd pair are finally together and the line is null and void. Good kiss scenes with the ladies initiating. But are TM and HR still in the office when they kissed? Big no-no in real world as well as the drunk sex. I’ll just say that on record. And then go back to kdrama world to enjoy the scenes. LOL!!!

  32. @GB … I think you are right re Min Woo… on reflection, it makes sense that as judgmental as Min Woo sounded it was actually his hurt sense of prior ownership of Ha-Ri speaking.

Tae Moo knew that too – if he hadn’t recognized another male staking a claim on Ha-Ri, Tae-Moo wouldn’t have become so competitive with the fishing!

  33. @GB Unnie,

You are welcome! Thank you for transcribing those things!

Now, Min Woo didn’t mean exactly that. Although, he wants HaRi for himself, he also belittled her in front of Tae Moo. Tae Moo can see behind Min Woo’s kind persona and that’s why he gets competitive against him. Archaeopteryx is overly protective of HaRi on the webtoon and he clashes against Min Woo.
The final answer though comes from HaRi’s mouth.

Min Woo is a douchebag. If they keep the arc from the webtoon you will see why.
For me in that scene, I confirmed how petty Min Woo is.

Money may be important for some, but for Tae Moo, it is not. Tae Moo doesn’t care about the money someone has.

He cares truly about the person HaRi is and the personality she has and most importantly how he feels about her and how she makes him feel about himself.

I am glad that HaRi will finally see the true colors of MinWoo, who she worshipped for the last 7 years.

  34. @Cleopatra… aha! So more will be revealed of Min Woo… thank you.

This means he’s both possessive and disloyal!

Well the benign exterior hides unpleasantness… although we do so a curl of his lip from time to time and that rather competitive girlfriend who reveals something of his character… why has he not chosen Ha-Ri in the first place?

  35. Thanks @GB for the transcript! TM likes her craziness. Love that. When he asked “Remeber what you said?”, I was expecting it would show Samantha and Rachel scene. LOL!

  36. Hey @Kate,

In the Webtoon, his excuse was very lame.
I don’t how they are going to cover this on the drama, but yes that curl of his lip and his uppleasantness towards Tae Moo is apparent.

I didn’t like that in tonight’s preview MW gave a punch on Tae Moo – because he found out about the contract – and HaRi took his side. If that clip is misleading we are going to see. Still, Min Woo is not to be trusted.

  37. @Cleopatra… I’m hoping that that preview you mentioned doesn’t signal a sudden putting on the brakes for what TM and HR have only just started!

Netflix didn’t provide a preview last night and I am glad they didn’t now.

But it sounds from what you’re saying that MW will be the antagonist who creates problems for them and their love story in an ongoing way… Ooooh looking forward to it nevertheless!

  38. @Kate,

I think it is a device, in order Hari to realize the truth about the “crush” she had on MinWoo. So, I am not going to worry about that much.

I saw it on SBS Catch on YouTube this morning. It pops on my feed anyway, since I am looking for everything BP! LOL!

  39. @Cleopatra — that’s good to hear! I really want TM and HR to have a good run at this relationship before they hit any serious hurdles.

  40. @Kate,

We are going to find out shortly!

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

OK, I can say without any hesitation that Episode 8 is a WINNER!!!

Kyaa! and Cheers! and all those expressions are in order. LOL.

I hope we get to see more good stuff before conflict kicks in. 😂 🤣 😇

  42. @Growing Beautifully, I very much agree with you. I think that @agdr03 will be pleased. Pfffft.

Could you believe that Disney-fied music when they were eating the corn dogs? The conversation was good, but that music was really OTT!

I’m happy now that they both told Min-woo off.

  43. @GB yes!! I was rooting for HR to feel that jealousy so that she will realize how much feelings she has for TM. I mean she has always defended him in front of his friends just that in front of him, she wasn’t as protective of him.

Poor TM, all that not wanting her family to know who he really is, is kinda hurtful but he took it with stride and understanding. A lot of it! Gosh, he really IS good at everything! Even being patient with her. I mean the part where she seemed to take MW’s side, I can’t imagine how hurt TM would have been as HR grabbed MW’s arm to walk away. Yet he waited for her. He IS a gem.

Like @Cleopatra says, TM doesn’t care about the money someone has, he is empathic about HR’s situation and paid for the expensive dinner he originally made her repay him for the mistaken kiss. It was like money is something he has easy access to but he doesn’t judge someone because of it. I would say, he is a perfect match for HR, if only she realises that.

  44. Hello Ladies,

Episode 8 it was overall a very nice episode.

Except the part where Min Woo gave a punch to Tae Moo. I am glad that HaRi stood her ground with him and she realized that he invaded her personal space.

I mean who opens a drawer to find oilment in a room where the owner is missing? Don’t they have first aid in their wc?

Anyway, they used the arc from the Webtoon where Secretary Cha will go to the blind date and he is going to impersonate Tae Moo. That won’t go well obviously! LMAO! I want to see how they will proceed with this…

As for HaRi. I was happy that she wanted to become the MVP of the game in order to have one on one dinner with Tae Moo. I liked her determination…

@Grace, I am glad you notice that as well. So far Tae Moo is my favorite character. Why? Because he is not what meets the eye. I don’t want to write again what I have written before, but I really like him and Anh Hyo Seop or Paul Anh did a great job in this one.

Kudos to Paul for playing Yiruma’s – River Flows In You! <3
I understood it immediately from the first notes! I do hope they will release the whole video with Paul playing it!

    Here is Yiruma's version! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiBvOKmuWKg

  45. @Cleopatra, I am glad that you recognise that piano piece. Thank you very much for the link. It is beautiful.

  46. My dear @Fern,

I know this piece very well since 2008. It is an amazing musical theme, isn’t it?

There is also trivia behind it. Some people wanted it to be picked up as “Bella’s Lullaby” in Twilight franschise.

  47. Ep 8 -SQUEE! Ha ri’s jealousy and confession was everything. Her determination to win the MVP in order to get dinner with Tae Mu after hearing about his blind date-haha! More crazy fun for next week with Sung Hoon and Yeong So cousin and Grandfather.

  48. Annyeong Bod’ers,

@PM3, thanks and love the KISS gifs! 💋 Ep 7 definitely a re-watch.

@fern yes to the “boyfriend express” 💙 good observation on the kiss scene ~ with the kiss duplicated in the painting and mirror reflection. i had to rewind and verify the painting haha. nice catch.

@gb, i didn’t pay attention to the “heart levels” when HR’s friends met TM – have to rewatch that. i kind’a noticed it but not so much how they went from 1 heart to 2 heart. that whole dinner scene is hilarious. TM really went OTT in his first introduction as “the boyfriend.” and he didn’t even hide the fact that he’s the President haha.
i also didn’t notice that MW’s gf had a purple heart. so she’s always disliked HR. sad. maybe i don’t feel bad for her when she’s noticing MW’s focus on HR even with her BF already there. sad.

@Viva – i agree… those cheesy lines should be turned to memes 😂

    now, on to Ep8 💛

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @Fern, @grace, @Cleo, @Table
Yeah, what a great squee episode! 😁

You know what tied me up in knots giggling? The fact that hanging out with Ha Ri means that Tae Moo repeatedly enters a ‘nefarious’ impersonation situation with intent to deceive in order to avoid short-term issues, but with undesirable long-term results. 🤪 😂

1)First he was out to deceive his Grandfather that he had a girlfriend.
2)Second he deceived HR’s friends that he’s her boyfriend.
3)Third he helps HR deceive her parents that he’s Gye Hin/Kevin and not the President of GoFood.

This couple are a power house of deception and they slip into it so naturally LOL. 1) will raise/is raising issues with TM’s Grandfather of course, 2) will hopefully be settled soon if not already and 3) will be a bit iffy if HR’s mum decides to punish HR or TM for the big lie.

@Table, I loved how HR just could not bear the thought of any other female having a one-on-one dinner date with TM. Her first words to him on the phone was to get out of there! (the restaurant) LOLOL.

Aahhh @Cleo, we understand now why dear cousin Jo Yoo Jung appeared before as the bratty, competitive type, with the same taste in clothes. She’s going to go head-to-head with cousin Yeong Seo over Sung Hoon. So once again Sung Hoon stands in for TM. But does he impersonate TM or does he introduce himself as the Secretary?

Thanks @Cleo for the link. I know that piece of music sounded familiar but I have a bad memory for names of anything and was wondering where I’d heard it before.

@Fern ah the Disneyfied music LOL. I like all the sound effects in this Show. They enhance the watch and often tickle me.

@grace, yes TM is unlike the entitled, rich brat type. He may have gotten very hurt but didn’t let it override all other considerations. I knew that he deliberately ‘scared’ Ha Ri with a big restaurant bill, but he was actually engineering another date with her at a nice place, and he always intended to pay the bill. The only problem is that poor HR is usually so stressed, she cannot enjoy the expensive food.

It was a smart move, in the sense that like before, he was giving her a chance to relent about rejecting him. Previously he was ‘punishing’ her to give her a chance to admit that she was Ha Ri and not Geum Hui, and this time he was going to ‘punish’ her for the kiss by dating her like crazy and tempt her with his lips LOLOL. It was working too, since she kept looking at his mouth.

I like that he chose the corn dogs as the meal of choice, which she could definitely afford, and which gave him the opportunity to reminisce about his childhood and parents. It’s something he can do with her, and seemingly no one else. It strengthens their bonds, now with the (as yet unofficially acknowledged) rainy day trauma and this information about himself. TM sincerely likes HR, since he risks more when he opens up with her. However he needs to do so over the rainy day trauma too.

At last HR decides that she does not care what anyone else thinks or says, and follows her heart. It’s going to be a bit uncomfortable coming clean now, after all that deception. Will they pretend in office to not be dating? I can imagine the whole of GoFood’s reception of the news!! 😬 🤣

  50. Loved the release of HR’s confession at the end and was delighted by that + her wind machined hair warrior goddess performance at the staff do!

The inevitable ‘correction’ of people coming down to earth or weighing up feelings made this episode more realistic and for me it was less fun and engrossing than 7. I don’t know if it is being tired after a long day but I did start to wonder about the credibility of TM having the energy to hang on in there for HR through all of these obstacles… Her allowing him a 2 sentence recollection of eating corn dogs with his parents didn’t seem to add up to a compelling enough reason for him to be so into her! They haven’t known each other long and his interest was originally driven by her not being boring… [although against this argument, we now realise that there was a more intense attraction on his part at that time.] But all that could just be my state of mind and I am now greatly looking forward to our main couple getting off the starting blocks and navigating all the complexity ahead!

  51. Next episodes will be about how they overcome their deceptions they have created and of course the eventual public revelation of their relationship.

On the other hand, there is another ongoing theme besides deception. The strength of one’s relationship.

    1) TaeMoo & Ha Ri – They will be facing challenges in their r/s going forward. The chasing and honeymoon period will be over pretty soon because what HaRi has been really worried about going forward will need to be faced. I have faith in TM to ride it through with her. He is protective, understanding and hopefully with some good ideas. I would also want to see HaRi standing up for him more publicly. She has been feeling inferior to him and how others see her as of lower status compared to him. I’m hoping she will see herself for how TM sees her. “a little crazy and with endless charm” and more than that too.

    2) SungHoon and Youngseo
They had a whirlwind relationship coming from a love at first sight encounter. Although it is all sweet and steamy, I felt their r/s foundation is shaky. They do not know each other well enough, don’t you think? The hiking trip was all so revealing. YoungSeo complaining, having lots of expectations of her bf to side her no matter what. I like that SungHoon is more level-headed and honest. Even though my SNS is full of their reconcilation, it felt the issue was swept under the carpet. Sunghoon is such a sweetie and a patient guy. (Oh all these tolerant and long suffering guys!). They are also gonna face their own set of challenges to hopefully come out stronger on the other side

    3) MinWoo and YooRa
I felt like YooRa is the one pursuing this r/s, i’m not sure if it is because of MinWoo’s rising fame. On the other hand, MinWoo seems like the one who doesn’t take the initiative…if he had liked HR, he did nothing about it…at least not till TM appeared. I’m not hopeful about this r/s, especially the fact the have broken up and got back together (is it more than once?). YooRa might also be pursuing MW out of envy of HR.

  52. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @grace
Yes, there are several relationships going on. We can even add the romantic Dad and Mum of Ha Ri who can fight but are still so sweet to each other.

    1) TM and HR – Yes we expect our OTP to stand strong and firm for the long-term. I’d like HR to stand up for TM too. In Ep 1 she hid behind him and even when she met Grandpa, she was behind him at first. At the movie theatre, she stood in front to hide him and he was accidentally slapped and chased away, to go slinking and to hide, poor CEO. He never complained about it. Now that Min Woo knows, all the more she should be happy to stand beside TM.

    2) SungHoon and Youngseo – It always troubles me that young people/couples equate dating with being in a sexual relationship. Dating to me is to spend time with the other party to get to know them in other ways. I still stick firmly to keeping sex for after marriage with one’s spouse, as a sign of total self-giving, something that does not make sense when the commitment of marriage has not been made yet.

They have definitely gone in too fast, just based on a big crush, without depth of understanding. This is the classic example of an immature pairing. Yes, they are going to have more ups and downs since it’s all just tied to feelings. They do not seem to have even discussed their interests, since SH had no clue that YS hates hiking.

“Even though my SNS is full of their reconcilation, it felt the issue was swept under the carpet.” – Yes. Show is not giving enough time to develop the arc for these 2.

“Sunghoon is such a sweetie and a patient guy.” – I didn’t like it when he promised that he’d never make her angry again. It is such a ‘childish’ thing to say. For one thing, it is we ourselves who choose to be angry or not and no one can make us angry if we choose not to be.

YS had better not hold that against SH and keep accusing him of breaking his promise whenever she chooses to get mad.

    3) MinWoo and YooRa – A couple I don’t really care to spend time analysing. He only behaves like HR’s lover when he loses her. Yes, Yoo Ra is probably just after him because he’s now successful, and to spite HR, goodness knows why. It looks like she called in the photographer to shoot MW’s food to gain brownie points with him, since HR had done that before. However MW does not seem happy or grateful.

“I’m not hopeful about this r/s, especially the fact the have broken up and got back together (is it more than once?). – They broke up several times according to the girl friends, so there’s already a lack of trust. Yes, I don’t think they will be in for the long haul.

I’m slowly rewatching Episode 8 now, a few minutes at a time!

  53. Kalimera Everyone!

@GB Unnie! I am glad you realized the connection between the cousin Jo Yoo Jung and Yeong Seo. Yes, Sung Hoon will cause some serious friction between them and cousin Jo is petty. I don’t know how they will use it on the kdrama though.

You welcome about the musical piece. I love music very very much. There are some pieces that I really love and Yiruma’s tune is one of them!

On the webtoon, Tae Moo didn’t hide his true identity from HaRi’s parents. They knew from the beginning who he was, even when they were not dating.
I guess we have to see how are they going to untangle this on the kdrama. I assume that they will do it in a way where HaRi’s mother and father will realize how conflicted HaRi was at that time about Tae Moo.

Altought Grandpa in the webtoon is totally different from the Kdrama’s version.
I believe he won’t have any problem regarding HaRi. Haraboji will totally accept HaRi when he will see that they both reprocicate feelings and they truly love each other.

I am waiting for the moment when Grandpa will give some blows to the ones who will mess with his boys! *winks*

  54. @Cleopatra, Kalimera! So Grandpa may be our ‘knight in shining armour’? I thought he might come through for Sung Hoon in regards to Yeong-seo, but perhaps more. That cheers my heart.

  55. Kalimera my dear @Fern!

I think that he will. I don’t think that will make their lives difficult, others maybe… He just want Tae Moon and Sung Hoon to be happy. Haraboji is persistent but so is Tae Moo. From whom do you think our Archaepterxy get that from?

  56. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Kate, you’ll probably get your wish since Show has to crush in a lot of untangling in the last 4 episodes to end nicely at Ep 12!

@Cleo @Fern Ah that’s nice to know. The troublesome lot are the family of Cousin Jo. Maybe Jin Yeong Seo’s dad might make a bit of noise since YS goes for the Secretary rather than for the chaebol.

I do think the kdrama adaptation is rather good. It made suitable changes … ie of course it made the story more dramatic LOL.

  57. Yes, I thought the grandfather might consolidate Sung Hoon’s position in the family. There’s still a bit of a question about how exactly he fits in that may have been shown in the webtoon but not in the drama. He seems very competent. But Grandfather at the moment is still trying to get a ‘useful’ wife for TM.

@Growing Beautifully, I wondered how can Cousin Jo not know that she is being fooled. Surely she would check in advance to see what her blind date looks like? (reality hole?) Yes, her mother is troublesome and weird, too. Maybe Min Woo can date Jo and we can have the most annoying couple ever.

Thanks for picking up on the love of Ha-ri’s parents despite the differences in their personalities. In my imagination, they might be moved that Tae-Moo lost his parents so young and that will be something that might move them closer. I don’t think he will use that to manipulate their feelings, but it may happen as a matter of course. Or they will be impressed with his cooking skills and his protection of Ha-ri as well.

  58. Correction: Archaeopteryx!

    @GB Unnie and @Fern,
Of course Yeong Seo’s dad will do so. The actor is the one who played on Happiness the evil Pharma CEO who was the first one infected as a Zompire!

I didn’t like Cousin Jo’s mother as well. They are too ostentatious for my liking.
They are totally the opposite of Tae Moo. He values people, they value money above everything! That’s why it cannot work with them.

I want to see how they will wrap this. Obviously we will get weddings in the end, but I want to see how are we are going to get there!

  59. @Kate, I think it was a genius move on Tae-moo’s part to take Ha-ri to an amusement park – particularly with the bumper cars, where they could act out their frustrations and break down their barriers physically. Tae-moo gives her tiger paws – which reminded me of the Grandfather’s tiger face mask and of how she, when impersonating Yeong-seo on the blind date, showed her claws. Ha, she gave him a girly headband.

It looked slightly as though Tae-moo felt motion sickness on the carousel/merry-go-round.🥴😁

It’s a trope to go on a date at the amusement park – to dress up, be silly, eat junk food. He’s playing to her ‘crazy’ side and betting that she can’t avoid the fun aspect of it. It would be a bit like going to the Korean equivalent of Drayton Manor or Skeggy – not really reflective of his current smooth sophistication, but he’s combining what he thinks might help HR unwind and his childhood memories. He wanted to share something of his memories with her and that touched her more because they did have fun. I think if she had resisted the fun, he may not have taken her to the corn-dog stand or shared his memory of that.

I think that going forward, her presence in his life will let him unwind from his robotic super-businessman lifestyle.

  60. @GB agree on all your points re Sunghoon and YoungSeo… I think that was part of my coming down to earth with that episode… they are skating along on very thin ice. He is adorable too. Agreed. They need more development of their story and time to build a real foundation.

Our main couple are being helped in that sense by all the obstacles to get know one another more fully.

  61. I agree with both you and @GB about Sung-hoon and Yeong-seo. It seems like a physical attraction rather than a meeting of minds like Ha-ri and Tae-moo. Still, attraction is the seed of many good relationships if the personalities are in synch.

I hope we will get more of them developing their bond other than physically.

  62. @Fern – Sorry – I missed your post when I posted… laughing here at the thought of Skeggy!!! hahahah……

Yes, I agree with you in retrospect on the genius date. I don’t know why I was so flat during that episode it must have rung unexpected personal bells with me! I will re-watch at another point.

  63. Skeggy was about the nearest beach to us where we used to live – very much inland from anywhere. About 2 years later, we found Heacham and Hunstanton as well. But Skegness was hilarious.

  64. @Fern – that’s what’s making me hoot …the thought of TM at a place like Skegness! And – I guess – adds to all the places and ways he putting himself out of his comfort zone to be with HR.

I am from the Midlands — so Skegness was the go-to family beach holiday resort for many kids when i was at school ( we tended to head to Norfolk and to Cromer + Cornwall because of relatives… ahhh brings back memories!!!).

  65. @Kate, we lived between Leicester and Peterborough, so about dead centre of the Midlands as well. Pretty country, but gosh – the long drives to get ANYWHERE…

I was trying to think of a current posh Darcy-type character to place at Skegness or Weston-super-Mare in TM’s place if I were producing this drama in the UK, but am drawing blanks. I should pay more attention to local actors. 🤦‍♀️

  66. @Fern – agreed re long drives!! We were in Oadby, Leicester and then moved just north of Derby.

Will reflect on candidates for your Darcy-type equivalent character…

  67. Gosh, we know Oadby. We lived near Leicester’s Victoria Park for 7 months and the In-laws lived in Kibworth then, so we went through there at least every 2 weeks. Derbyshire is very nice!

I tried looking up posh-type British actors. There are plenty, but no one in Ahn Hyo-seop’s late-20’s age range that comes to mind. I’m sure they exist!

  68. Small world eh?! I can vaguely remember Victoria Park… we used to go to Knighton Park too…

The problem with younger posh actors is that they often have that Jack the Lad ease when in Skeggy type circumstances… part of that elite background charm… not so much of the second gen Chaebol vibe!

  69. Just for fun… the FLs and MLs together talking about their impressions of one another!

  70. Some interviews don’t seem realistic, but this did. They all seem to appreciate each other sincerely.

  71. So on rewatch I got curious with the song that Hari softly sang when she went to the bathroom after looking at Taemoo’s lips.

It’s the national anthem of Korea, Aegukga.

It’s the first verse that she sang.

    1. Until that day when the waters of the East Sea run dry and Mount Baekdusan is worn away, God protect and preserve our nation; Hurray to Korea.

    2. As the pine atop the near mountain stands firm, unchanged through wind and frost, as if wrapped in armor, so shall our resilient spirit.

    3. The autumn sky is void and vast, high and cloudless; the bright moon is our heart, undivided and true.

    4. With this spirit and this mind, give all loyalty, in suffering or in joy, to the love of country.

Refrain: Three thousand ri of splendid rivers and mountains covered with mugunghwa blossoms. Great Korean people, stay true to the Great Korean way!

Is she trying to make a stand? 😁

  72. @agdr03, I think she is. She is at war with herself. 😆

  73. @Fern, true 😂

She’s so torn with her attraction to Taemoo. ☺️

I liked the conversation in the car too about the kiss. Taemoo was like ‘did you think my mouth is like a pole you can just hit?’. 😂

  74. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL thanks @agdr and @Fern, I believe that you’re right! Why on earth would anyone break into singing the national anthem over desiring a hot kiss?!? 😂 🤣 I believe the South Korean audience must have been falling on the floor laughing at that scene!!

  75. @GB, when you put it that way. 😂😂😂

  76. Please allow me to fangirl about TM’s fashion. Cream 3 piece! After COVID, lockdown and WFH, suit is a rare sight and only exists in K dramas. The costume department does a great job of matching the suits to the occasion. Red suit for (failed) proposal in ep 6. I guess they want to present him in a cream suit playing the black grand piano for swoon effect in ep 8.

@Kate, I think their bond for TM’s trauma won’t be as deep as something like Just Between Lovers, but the point is TM can talk freely with Hari and vice versa. Their bond is always over food. My interpretation is that food relaxes them and breakdowns barriers. Like the burger in the food truck. She totally forgets about her work trip and opens herself to TM. The barrier between employee and boss, social status, or awkwardness over trauma are not there when the conversation starter is food.

As to why he is so into her – love at first sight? Then he keeps thinking about her and following her. The more he knows of her, the more he finds her appealing. I guess theirs may be the case of instant attraction to start off with, and after knowing the person more, the more he wants to make her happy. Will such a guy exist – that could be the fairy tale element of this.

@HK_Lady I know right. Especially the scene with all the money animation and the actor says there is no limit! So cringe worthy and very funny. Without the build-up of the character and anyone less would be bad taste.

@agdr03 – thanks! I was wondering what that song is. @Fern Haha yes she is at war lollol.

I am so happy when Hari decided to do something about her feelings! When she picked up the phone to ask TM to leave the blind date. Like she owns it! So good.

  77. @Viva – thank you – all very good points. Yes, TM must have covered up his strong initial response to HR with the account of ‘getting on with it as per Grandpa’s request and her not being boring at least…’. I will revise my expectations and re-watch when less cream crackered! haha

I agree re TM’s gorgeous wardrobe… I want HR to match it more often now. Call me superficial but I was a little depressed by her ongoing down to earth looking wardrobe in this episode. Would TM still find her appealing – yes is clearly the answer. He finds her adorable as she is. But I liked her sassy wardrobe when she was in her alter ego and they dress her down, now, naturally, as a hard working, non social climber, girl next door researcher.

  78. I’ve seen unlikely cases of an actor singing a national anthem – usually a male trying to distract himself and stay ‘calm’ if you know what I mean. The vocal equivalent of a cold shower. Here that trope is swapped to the FL. 🤣

My personal opinion: I still think that the women are carrying this drama. I’m waiting for TM to stop speaking in a robotic staccato monotone. The rest of the acting is fine, imo.

  79. @Viva, @kate, Same with the beautiful wardrobe of TM looking so smart. I particularly like the cream coats they wear when they were on the yacht. Usually couple outfits are cringey but theirs is really smart and matching.

HR really has endless charm regardless of what she wears and I’m glad TM does not bother about outfits except when they need to dress up for an occasion. I wonder when she will wear her pretty pink outfit her mum bought for her.

@agdr03, she surely is having a war within herself with that song she sang! It’s like her resolve to push TM away is going to be “run dry” and be “worn away” and her emotions will win. 😛

It is a legitimate concern with the employer-employee status, being in a different world, the external pressures that will come with accepting TM. All of that is a big deterrent for her. It is scary because the backlash will be on her. She has to protect herself. We all know too well she is does not value riches and wealth that stereotypical girls may look for. Though at this point she is not liking him enough to be protective of him and or say, I am ok to put my reputation on the line and weather this thorny path with you….at least not till end of ep8 when she decided to take the plunge.
So I loved it when TM lays out his cards and promises (over promise, I feel) that those things she is worried won’t happen. So far what he sincerely says he will he, he has done so and kept his word.

Although…after the incident with her parents in hospital, TM wanted a kiss back as a repayment for her bad mouthing him. He was upset then. He said “If don’t have the money, pay it back with a kiss.” that when when MinWoo rushed over and punched him. I’m not sure what to make of that scene for now and his demand for HR to pay him back with a kiss. I mean, a kiss is not an exchange of goods, well…it is an exchange of feelings but demanding a kiss devalues the kiss. I didn’t like that moment when he said that.

  80. @Kate, I wonder if we’ll ever quite see HR in the Korean equivalent of expensive ‘bad’ girl again. It helped her with a role she was playing, but it’s not her. We might see her in more outfits like the white/cream dress she wore to supper that ripped. Or the outfit he asked her to wear at the hotel. Ha. Tae-moo seems to like her in white. 😘 Looking forward to trouble and stife, I imagine.

  81. @Grace – all that matching cream – was regal. I loved it. Agree – confident rather than cringey. She is so efforvescent that she transcends her clothing but I still found it difficult to watch her in the puffer coat (is that the name) when he was dressed so sleekly.

@Fern – that white dress really suited HR… That was a moment wasn’t it as he looked up at her! She was elegant and beautiful – with a touch of the bride to be? I still like her styled deliberately ‘bad’ because it brings out that extra sass… I loved her in her Chanel style jacket and boots and even the smokey eye!… some of that sass has gone for the moment because of their relative positions… she was his social equal at that first meeting.

All of this is just my personal response – not core to the drama at all!

  82. *social equal’ in Korean high society terms…

  83. Watching an interview with SBS I think where AhnHyoSeop describes TM as “a cold perfect and flawless person, but on the inside he is a pure boy. The innocent boy in TM is atttracted to Hari. That’s why he is so precious and cute.”

AHS also said that “Hari and Taemoo’s love will grow more and more mature.” so I’m looking forward to that!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vsetyvpx1wg

I can’t find the subs for the other cast interview though.

@Kate, I kinda miss Hari’s “bad girl” styling too, it gives her a lot of confidence which she doesn’t really exude when she is herself.

  84. @Grace – thank you for that link!

Yes, agreed on the styling. I have just re-watched and really enjoyed Ep 8 – with more energy. Not wild about the russet cardi, though, that she wore to their funfair date! Even his casual looks are sleek… She looks far better with youthful crisp styling…

  85. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Kate, I’ve been wanting to add, that I prefer Kim Se Jeong with her fringe and sides of hair mostly off her face. I thought that she was more attractive as Geum Hui to look at. As Ha Ri, when the wind swept her hair back, she looked lovely! The fringe covers too much of her and makes her look a bit drowsy.

  86. @GB… I so agree! They are making some mistakes with her styling. Yes agreed on the heaviness of the fringe for her and the impact + combining that with casual cardigans does her no favours.

  87. @Grace – thanks for the link. I will go and watch.:)

I watched the others in bits in Chinese subs.

    *light spoiler

The key idea I picked up is they said that the second lead couple is more like a relationship in the late 20s. Whereas TM and HR are more like people in the early 20s.

    *spoiler ends

They do have a lot of beautiful coats! Yes I love Guem Hui’s wardrobe! When Hari is in working mode, I shift my focus on her handbags. She has quite a selection of them.

@GB, @Grace @Kate, I also agree on the second leads. I felt the second lead couple love is a less enjoyable watch for me. When I like their little encounter over the cockroach, I agree their seems to base on shaky understanding. They start their relationship when YS can’t remember. SH took him for a hiking trip that she doesn’t enjoy. Shouldn’t a healthy long-term relationship is not about changing the other person, even one party may think the change is good for him/her?

@Grace I felt that conversation is a little weird too. I figured that can be a plot device, the conversation has to be bad enough to trigger a punch from MW. I felt TM is back on his business negotiation mode, going back to his early “concept” for an eye for an eye, a kiss for a kiss.

  88. Ahh @Kate, I just was listening to the OST. I think MeloMance’s song pretty much sum up TM and Hari’s love story. I guess just the mere feeling about wanting someone else to be happy, is love.

  89. @Viva…. LOVE this….hadn’t seen the English lyrics….! Thank you for sharing. Heart warming and on point for them.

  90. They released the BTS of the “kiss episodes” and I think everyone here gets a star sticker. It was pointed out that their first kiss was better than their second. When it was filmed, the second was actually shot first- And it looked freezing cold. Clearly by the time they got to the kiss shown in episode 7 they had worked out the head tilts/height adjustments and just went straight. To. Work. The kiss in the bts clip was perfect, but I think the director is trying to stay very close to webtoon and it’s trope reversing ways and added different takes. No complaints here, we get to see and appreciate both 😉

  91. Episode 7. The hostel looks like the same than in Yumi Cells. I’m right?!

  92. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, it’s not surprising if it is the same location. We’ve seen some locations repeated in a few shows. I took it for granted that some spots are ‘rented’ or owned by some of these broadcasting stations and are therefore reused to make it their money’s worth!
