Business Proposal: Eps 1 – 8 Heart Fluttering Moments

Hari’s in denial about her attraction for Taemoo so I’m going to make a list of all the times her heart went pitter-patter at the sight of him. Please help me out. I know BoDers are good at spotting these details and making a list.

Episode 1

When she almost fell but he caught her.

Episode 2

When they fell outside her chicken shop

Episode 3

Episode 4

When he bought her the eye ointment

When he talked about the food he developed

When he helped her put on her shoe

Episode 5

Episode 6

At the cinema

At Sokcho

At the beach

Episode 7

At the hotel

When watching him remove his coat and looking at his back

lol. I hope she doesn’t see Paul Ahn’s stork legs.

When boarding the yacht

Before the first kiss

I’ll look for the gifs again of this scene.

Episode 8

When he tasted the amuse-bouche

When he played the piano, Yiruma’s “River Flows in You”

Side note: For those who are just getting to know Yiruma, he has another famous piece, “Kiss the Rain.”

I’m sure I missed a few. Please just write the scene and the timestamp so I’ll look for it. Thanks!

  1. Off the top of my head:

Ep 3 – Handkerchief moment in the concert? Does that count? It was quite a surprise.
Ep 7 – The next morning in the hotel, TM sent clothes for her to change into, suggesting them to wear matching outfits. She has a smile on her face.

This is certainly a good reason to re-watch all the episodes. lol

  2. Thanks, @Viva. Those will do. I’ll add them tomorrow. Going to bed soon. 💤💤💤

  3. Kalimera Ladies!

    @Packmule3 What a wonderful compilation!

Episode 3 – When he tried to console her AFTER the concert.

Episode 8 – When he updated her parents into VIP room in the Hospital. I think she was touched and surprised at the same time, that’s why she lied about TaeMoo’s identity!

  4. @packmule3, as agdr pointed out: HR had to sing the national anthem in the ladies’ room to calm down in episode 8.

  5. ep 7 on the couch too, still in the hotel room. When TM offered to carry her to bed if she falls asleep on the couch

  6. I just laughed out loud at “stork legs!” They showed his shins and feet in Lovers of the Red Sky and I had to close my eyes!!!

  7. Ep 1 – hotel lobby when they are getting a room. Hari has fireworks in her eyes lol.

  8. 😂 @Nicole,

Same here! His legs were unforgettable in “Lovers of the Red Sky.”

By the way, did you recognize the actor playing MinWoo here? He was the actor playing the bodyguard of Haram in LOTR?

  9. Wonderful compilation Packmule3 – thank you for adding greatly to the enjoyment of this series.

  10. Thank you this is a wonderful compilation – thank you for adding so much additional enjoyment @Packmule3

[May have posted this in the wrong discussion need some coffee].

  11. Ep 4 when she caught him staring at her in that elegantly expensive white dress. She was radiant and he looked up and simply gawped at her… she did seem to notice this with a slightly puzzled look on her face as if she was trying to process his reaction… (43.20 ish on).

  12. Bingo, @Kate. It was a TM heart-flutter that time. She was not quite, but nearly, clueless.

  13. @Fern … ahhhh… can we have a section for TM heart flutters in that case! I love all those asides, and glances and slight smiles. And the way he said ‘she is adorable’ when she was trying to cover her embarrassment in the shared hotel room in Ep 7.

  14. @Kate, yes, he knew exactly what was going through her head.

  15. Thanks BODers, what a fun post! Not adding anything to this list for now, just soaking it in and enjoying these posts as I listen to Yiruma’s music. 🙂

Life is so much more enjoyable and sweeter, K-dramas are richer and more meaningful when shared with this community!

    Thank you all chingus!

  16. I am struck by this discussion and the way, when it comes to heart fluttering moments- we all instinctively respond to these moments and enjoy that shared awareness …

I wonder how K-dramas got to be that way? Have any of you BoDers traced their appeal which is clearly cross-cultural and powerful? Has this been discussed in this community?

  17. ps Apologies – the last question was related but off topic for this thread- please feel free to point me elsewhere!

  18. @Kate, you may have seen this article in the Guardian online a couple of years ago? I think that there’s at least one Kdrama writer at that newspaper.

    https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2020/may/11/crash-landing-on-you-parachute-into-this-addictively-romantic-south-korean-soap-opera

  19. @Fern – What an enjoyable piece… thank you!

By complete coincidence, too, this article showed up in my feed today about women inspired by Kdramas to travel to S Korea in search of romance…https://uk.style.yahoo.com/voices-why-women-traveling-south-060157994.html

  20. @Kate, I wonder too. Do they have a handbook of swoonable moments or handbook of heart-fluttering moments to make your audience go wild thing?

Kdrama troups are famously well known and I wonder if other countries attempt similar troupes in a different cultural context.
    https://www.kdramalove.com/KoreanDramaCliches.html

  21. @Grace – I love that handbook of swoonable moments idea!! Big smile here.

Who knows how they have assembled this expertise !

Obviously there will be books etc but who started the trend on shows and in films? Could it be because of the comic-book tradition where romance is freeze-framed and studied frame by frame, every wrist grab, every glance …?

  22. @Kate, thank you for the link. I think that travel has been inspired by fiction and dramas for as long as tourism has existed. It goes in both directions: I think that Koreans travelled to Quebec after Goblin aired and my sister-in-law told me that a particular part of Vienna was filled with Korean tourists because of a wedding that took place there in a drama. (I don’t know which.)

I can well imagine that young women would wish to visit Korea to meet the sort of man who is like a ML in Korean dramas – sometimes even the 2nd ML. It’s an ideal, right? So interesting, though.

I think that Korean dramas have a vintage or old-school feel compared to many Western dramas where the emphasis is on fast physical attraction. There is often prudence and a long development of a romantic relationship rather than quick gratification which appeals to many.

  23. @Fern – that’s very interesting. I am now curious about which drama had a wedding in Vienna…hmmm

Yes,… the ideal lover in a remote and slightly different context who offers an escape from everyday reality!

And hoorah for more romance with a longer courtship process!

  24. love this compilation and the list will keep growing haha! Thanks @PM3

so many proof in every episode of this show that HaRi’s has been attracted to TM 💗 from the get go ~ so obvious to us watchers 😂

  25. @Kate @Fern Speaking of TV inspired travel. We did go to visit Highclere Castle because of Downton Abbey. We also visited Peppa Pig World 😂

But going to SK hoping to meet a male lead…TV and realities aren’t the same. Think about culture clash, in laws expectations, buying a house, decide where to live, tax residency… All of these aren’t very romantics but real.

  26. @Nicole @pm3, I just finished LOTRS and it’s very fresh in my mind. Haram was quite bulky (strong arms and back) in ep 2 when he was working out. Not sure why there is this inconsistency. 😂 It was a very funny scene in ep 10 😂

Off topic, turn out I like LOTRS more than the Red Sleeve!

Yes I saw MinWoo there. His character is easier to like in LOTRS. In here, he is how a boyfriend should not be.

  27. @Kate, the Koreans taking wedding photos was in Prague, not Vienna. Apologies. I still don’t know why. My sister-in-law visited both places, but she was born in Prague, so she understood that this area is popular with Koreans because of something filmed there.

  28. @Viva… Peppa Pig World… I’d love to go sometime. I gather it’s a place of pilgrimage for a certain age range!

@Fern… could it be this film? I hadn’t heard of it before….https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovers_in_Prague

  29. @Kate, good morning.

I haven’t seen that drama, but it might well be the one! Thanks for looking it up.

  30. @Viva mentioned this
    Episode 1
37mins – HR has fireworks in her eyes and flushed cheeks when she wonders “What’ll happen if I just follow him into that room?” she snapped out of it and decided “Let’s run! The money’s not worth it!”

    Tae-Moo
    36mins
TM smiled or more like chuckled after he choked on tea when HR talked about Samantha and Rachael. He seems to find her so intriguing.
    36.15mins
TM smiled when he realized that HR’s feet was shaking more like in nervousness. I think he was amused
    39.10mins
TM recounted HR talking about Samantha and Rachael and seeing 3 to 4 men at the same time. He wasn’t disgusted nor upset. He seemed more amused and when SungHoon said it was a waste of time, he didn’t agree completely, TM said “Maybe”. Later he declared to grandpa that he was going to marry her. Possibly out of a task to be done but somehow HR definitely caught his attention.

    45mins
TM actually says “I like Ms.Jin. She is open and honest” even after saying “I don’t want to cling on to mere emotion.”

Will add on if I manage to slowly rewatch the rest!
