NOTICE FOR REWATCH PARTIES FROM EPISODE 13
Here are the possible times for rewatches. The episodes will depend on where we last left off. We watch 2 episodes each time. All it takes is for any 2 of us to agree on an Option and the party is on for that time.
The suggested times accommodate Bitches both East and West of where I am, but if you get confused, check Google to know your local time.
You can choose more than 1 option, I’ll be able (if all things are status quo) to watch with you, at any of the times except for the time in Option 6.
Just let us/me know here what options suit you.
Option 1: While one rewatch on Friday is always fixed at 10:00 UTC every week, …
Option 2: … there can be another one on Friday 16th Sept, at 14:00 UTC as well

I only got up to ep 11 by myself. When I had time I should go back and watch more DFQC Orchid. Especially when DFQC pouting his lips lollol…and that innocent face.

From what MS says, we find out what MS thinks he’s offering Fairy
MS speaking as Fairy : “Since I came to Cangyan Sea, I’ve been eating well and living well. The doctors used the best medicine to heal my whip wounds. (Here), I’m not a lowly spirit in your eyes. I’m also not a traitor or spy who colluded with the Moon Tribe. I can be myself happily. Compared to the days where everyone in Shuiyuntian can bully me, it’s a hundred times better.”
MS lists the tasks that Fairy should want CH to commit to if she were to go back with him : “If I go back with you, can you guarantee to clear my name? If your Lord Yun Zhong refuses to pardon me, do you dare disobey him? If he uses Heaven’s rules to question you and force you, can you protect me? If anyone dares to hurt me or blame me, can you turn them into ashes?”
Fairy listens to this and looks thoughtful.
CH to MS in Fairy’s body : “My brother has always been impartial. (Not true).
MS says : “I knew you couldn’t do it. You wouldn’t even tell me something nice. But the Moon Supreme Lord can do all these. He’s willing to protect me, and not let anyone hurt me. So I’m willing to stay here.”
CH : “Impossible. You’re a fairy of Shuiyuntian. No matter what, I will take you back to Shuiyuntian.” Unlike MS, CH fails to respect ‘Fairy’s’ wishes.
Loved how RH treated ‘MS’ as Fairy, by offering a hand to her.
RH pops up at the right time as Fairy makes the mistake of making a sound behind the tree, alerting CH. RH parries an impulsive and mistaken attack by CH, then helps Fairy up and we get this cute tableau of RH holding MS’s hand LOL. But Dylan really looks like Fairy is in his body. It does not look awkward at all that RH (actor Xu Hai Qiao) took Dylan’s hand and helped him up.
(So not only do I not recall a scene where RH fought MS on his own, they even held hands at one time! LOL). I checked and actually there really isn’t a fight scene between RH and MS. Only a scene where one stops the other or one trys to get away.
CH decides to extract Fairy’s spirit to bring back to SYT while they kill MS in Fairy’s body. They can use self-renewing soil to create a new body and turn Fairy’s essence back into Fairy Orchid safely. (So this is a prediction/foreshadowing of what CH and MS would have to do later. This Show really planned and ensured there was initial mention and then follow-up action to fulfill the plan)
Just in time the lightning storms starts up again. Fairy makes a split second decision, saying in her mind and in MS’s voice “No!”.
KISS Count (Ep 13)

She runs up to kiss MS and the lightning comes on to swap them back to their bodies.
10:44 CH and RH get blown back by a pulse of energy from the kiss. The light is green on Fairy’s side and blue on MS’s side.
10:55 The change in MS’s stance is immediate, and the look of serious resolve comes into his eyes… something that Fairy’s face lacked before.
I just love how MS pauses, looking indifferent for a moment when CH raises his sword, but his eyes turn blue with Hellfire and he effortlessly sends a snake of Hellfire swirling around him and Fairy, then upwards to the sky.
He causes the lightning of Hellfire to strike and CH and RH get blasted backwards.

Fairy reminds MS that he promised he would not hurt CH. So the Hellfire leaves his eyes.
KISS Count (Ep 13)
He tells them to go. Since CH is injured it’s no fun attacking him. MS then catches Fairy who tries to run to CH, and kisses her thoroughly, with relish and gives CH a triumphant look. LOL, these boys, really!!! CH is aghast but RH takes CH away.
Fairy pushes MS off her in indignation, telling MS not to follow her, as she runs off (feeling affronted? embarrassed?). He’s a little lost in thought about her running off like that, wondering what it is she’s feeling and why I suppose, when Shang Que comes to report on YF’s mutiny.
Xun Feng’s enjoyment of the throne is short-lived.
MS goes after his brother who’s sitting on his throne. He casually strings his brother up, tosses him to one side with a head tilt and then to the ground with a flick of his wrist. (I love that he won’t ever break a sweat.)
I notice that people with power are strung up so that their hands cannot come together to create magic with their gestures. Those will less power need not have their arms separated like that. Jie Li was ‘strangled’ but she could bring her hands together.
I know right. It is so cute to watch! HAHAHAHA! And when DFQC orchid tried to dp her fairy greetings to DFQC. That puppy look too!
When CH mentioned about the “Self Renewing Soil” only once here in the drama, in the novel it was a big part. In the novel the not so nice DFQC used the self renewing soil to make a body and use Orchid to turn it into a suitable body for Chidi woman.
You know when DFQC Orchid rushed to kiss Orchid DFQC, I thought she is beginning to like him. Enough to not want him to die.
I am impressed with Dylan’s change in facial expression. Instantly. From puppy cute look to an cold arrogant face. BGM is great too.
What I don’t like is his forced kiss on Orchid. He had crossed the line before but this one annoys me the most.
CH and RH get back to Fairy Realm. RH gives him half his cultivation to keep him alive. Streaks of white appear in RH’s hair.
The one saving grace of RH is that evil, though he was, he did have a sincere regard for CH.
Yes, that forced kiss. I was waiting to see if there’d be any issue out of it. He did it so deliberately, with such relish and to one-up CH. Poor Orchid was used to bring CH down because DFQC was jealous of him. He gave CH such a look of triumph LOL.
@GB that’s when I felt CH’s love is not “enough”. Not that he doesn’t want to do that, but he just couldn’t do that. At the end, intention is one thing, but it is the result that counts. DFQC makes a much better judgement on when to bend the unreasonable rules for the person he loves.
I feel that Orchid here just didn’t want anyone to be killed, but she really did not want anything to happen to MS. (She was also concerned when XF was to be executed later.)
Remembering that Fairy had vouched for SQ’s loyalty, MS asks Shang Que when it was that he knew that he was weak and had no power.
SQ : “I knew it since the first day. When she pretended to be you, she told me her power was weak. But at that time, I didn’t know about the body switch.”
MS : “Why didn’t you kill me?”
SQ : “Why would I kill you? In my heart, you are the most important person. You are like a brother to me. I would never betray you.”
MS comes to trust both Fairy’s judgement of people, and SQ as his confidante from this time on.
RH walks off, abandoning Die Yi who tried to hug him and she continues to look on after him. We get to see the silhouette of Die Yi alone and on the right side of the screen, as seen through a barred window. She looks like she’s behind bars and bereft. A sign that she’s trapped in her role as the Lieutenant of RH, who actually does not care for her.
That’s true @Viva. Action counts in the end. Despite not having the right ‘feeling’ DFQC showed what he believed in his actions. CH was full of feeling, but lacked the action that went with it. Feelings alone don’t count.

By the way, @GB, have you watched the trailer of Dylan’s “Forbidden Love”? Looks like his character is a bit dark there. Seems interesting. Palace fighting. Revenge drama.
Esther also has a new drama – A Romance of the little forest. Apparently she brough along her own clothes and she has 150 sets of clothes or something. One episode is available on Viki.
Danyin regrets helping CH before and refuses to help him now. RH comes but lets him walk out.

CH is stopped by his brother who sends 3 messengers. He knew exactly that CH had gone to help the spy.
RH and Danyin come to speak up for CH. CH has to corroborate RH and Dan Yin’s story to get all 3 of them out of trouble, or they’d all be punished. Poor CH is sort of trapped. CH’s powers are sealed. His love always ends up constipated poor chap.
They really have not explained to us why Dieyi loves RH so much.
I love that BGM, but it doesn’t seem to be as effective in this plot somehow. I get that music is used when the characters decide to be brave and fight for their love.

Fairy is sighing and upset at losing her chance to go home, and for appearing to be one who really colluded with MS. (This is after the extra, forced kiss that MS had planted on her lips in front of CH)
She’s more concerned about how she appears in CH’s eyes and that she let him down.
She feels that she’s nothing and wonders why CH came to save her. She pushes aside the thought that he might care for her.
She speaks to herself : “Lord CH is the God of War. He came to save you out of responsibility and kindness. Why would he protect you so much? Could it be … Am I …(Here her thoughts seem to have skipped over to the other person who’d been protecting her a lot ie MS) …Impossible. He is DFQC, the Moon Supreme. Shuiyuntian’s greatest enemy.
MS had been ordered by Fairy to not follow her so he sends SQ to observe her and report LOL.
MS is thinking about how Fairy likes CH so much and how they’d been kissing in front of CH. His thoughts are to do with whom Fairy prefers and he is playing with his You Jade Ring again.
@GH hahaha. Tragic character setting, but not enough for me to cry for him. May be because his tragic settings are too convenient. If they don’t use the brother to trap him so much, the following rules trait of him would be enough and more real. Now it feels like they choke the CH character effort to love Orchid too much.
I didn’t care too much for CH after he threw Fairy under the bus to get into his brother’s good books several episodes ago.

He quietly goes to the garden where the party is and listens in. Remembering that Fairy had mentioned wanting flower petals to fall, he makes the trees shake and shed some petals which delight the ladies.

Fairy feels that MS is near and looks searchingly at the trees but cannot see him.
He stands behind the tree, without the ring, with eyes closed to enjoy the delight of Fairy. Soooo sweet. This shows that he naturally had a warm, affectionate side to him that his father ruined.
Hahaha DFQC wants to hear “Orchid likes you, MS”. However, that is SQ HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
What do you know? Well, DFQC, what do you know?
OK, will have to see if he plays just a stereotypical revenge seeking sort or is more interesting and rounded. I presume he’s the lead? With a love interest? So there should be a redemption arc of some kind for his character.
Those two clueless guys together LOL. Both sweeter and kinder than they appear. SQ is a mere pussy cat.

@GB, that’s one of my fav scene. One of the reasons I love this drama so much. The BGM helps too. Was it in any earlier episode that Orchid said she wants to see the petals falling off? Is that why DFQC did that for her? He is happy because Orchid is happy. Or he is happy because he shares Orchid’s happiness. I think both.

Was Ep 13 only 35 minutes long?
EP 14 – Jie Li comes… She is able to use magic (fairy dust? LOL) to bewitch the guards to let her walk around without a pass token. She must be resourceful because we next see her in Silent Moon Palace dressed as a maid. At this stage and even when Die Yi and RH speak of her, it’s not obvious at all if she came because she was sent or because she really had run to hide with Fairy.

During the Longhua period, eunuch Xiao Duo plotted with Fu Wang to help him sit on the throne. Bu Yin Lou was supposed to be buried with the late Emperor but she is rescued by Xiao Duo.
Bu Yun Lou, a lady-in-waiting, was meant to be the emperor’s woman. Due to her status, she was supposed to follow him in death but Xiao Duo saves her because she has caught the eye of Fu Wang. She then stays at Xiao’s manor and they grow closer over time. However, they cannot reveal their feelings.

MS comes and Fairy runs to meet him to cut him off before he sees Jie Li. He says he came to see her, which startles her. He changes it to mean that he came to see if she’s slacking off from fixing the Destiny Book.
He did actually come to see her. He probably missed her but he could not admit it to himself or to her.
Yes, those kind of rumours LOL. Can’t really blame them since she was from the enemy camp and she was around him so much, even in public when discussing state business. Yes she was seen in the bath with him bathing her LOL. Lots to talk about.
Fairy says at first that she can’t fix it. (She might mean that she can’t do it because she guesses he wants it for a bad reason, rather than that she does not know how to fix it.)
MS takes the former meaning : “Youre the Head (and only) disciple of Arbiter, right? Why can’t you fix it?”
F : “I didn’t know you were the MS Lord of the Moon Tribe. That’s why I told you I can fix the Destiny Book. Then you asked me to fix the Destiny Book every day. To be honest, I thought you had nothing to say.” (LOL she thought he kept mentioning the book to have a topic of conversation. Naïve Fairy.)
F : “Now I know how ridiculous and sentimental/egotistical? I was. The MS Lord has been asking me to fix the Destiny Book. Is there any special purpose? Is it related to dealing with SYT?”

That awkwardness when they first met in Arbiter Hall to me means their relationship has progressed. He came over to see her right, not really because of the destiny book?

I was saying to Cleo that JL fed SQ with the idea that Fairy was the future Moon Queen so when Fairy came to ask for JL’s release, SQ bowed to her as if she were royalty too.
Yes, with regard to Fairy, MS was attentive to the little details. It was their little ‘exclusive knowledge between them’ thing that Fairy used to try to mollify MS later when he got angry with her.
I feel that MS started falling in love first but in between he got annoyed etc, so it was mixed. Fairy had to get over her CH crush first and then started to realise she liked MS a bit later.
Yes, MS actually went to visit Fairy because he missed her. He was truthful at first then embarrassed to admit it.

The thing about DFQC’s kindness, it’s unexpected at times… like when he didn’t even know Fairy in Haotian Tower but reverted cutting off her hair and allowed her to keep her hair like before just because she cried. So there’s a kind streak in him that he himself does not recognise or understand.
I think she did mention liking sweets. The candy shop mention, was partly I thought, because she wanted to own it to sell her stuff.
Fairy gets to learn some tricks from JL about dealing with men. It sort of backfires though LOL. Fairy does the stuff in her own way and not just out to trick MS.
She gets Shang Que to call MS over to give him a surprise.
MS : “Surprise? It’s good that she doesn’t scare me.” (LOL even SQ smiles.) MS looks at the You Jade Ring. He wants to know her feelings.He was perhaps remembering that he’d enjoyed feeling her joy before and was hoping to experience that again, thinking a surprise should be a good thing.
He removes the You Jade Ring.

Jie Li coaches Fairy on how to win MS over:
Step 1) she is to smile naturally and act like she thinks he likes her since he built the Hall for her.
Step 2) hold his hand gently and walk with him through the garden to recall their times together.
Step 3) remember shared experiences be sentimental about what he’d done for her,etc to get on his good side.
Fairy tries to act cute and he’s taken aback. *cringe*
As a compromise to holding his hand, she grabs his robe coyly and pulls on him. *cringe LOL*
She tries to praise him as the greatest hero in all the lands, who is invincible in the world, (and puts on a false smile) but he throws back what she’d said before about CH. He asks how he compares with CH. It’s not easy to trick the MS.
Fariy’s ploys remembering their past together etc sweet words are not going according to plan… She has to change to say that he’s the strongest in the 3 realms (which is the truth) and no one can compare. She continues with another false smile.
For a moment this seems to appease him, but his words are:
MS : “You’re sensible. What? Do you think you will die once you fix the Destiny Book, and now want to flatter me? I remember that day, …” (now he’s the one remembering the past LOL and it bites Fairy instead) “you said that I begged for mercy with a bloody nose and a swollen face.”
The taste of the cakes are different because she put in Forget Sadness Grass in it, thinking that he was sad to come back and find his family did not welcome him.
MS : “Who told you I was sad?” (It was a new feeling to him and he didn’t know it himself.)
F explains that she extrapolated from her own experience being considered a spy in SYT, and no longer being welcomed home. She felt heartbroken.
She was more sincere here than before.

MS asks : “You mean Xun Feng?” He considers what she’s feeling and says he knows she is playing tricks on him.
MS : “Why do you call me Wooden Head?”
F : “The Moon Supreme sounds disobliging. It’s scary. I don’t dare to tell you my feelings. It feels we’re much closer to call you Wooden Head…. But if you don’t like that I won’t call you that anymore.”
He thinks about that and says she can call him whatever she wants. (This is in line with him wanting her to treat him like before in the real Arbiter Hall.)
She then becomes more sincere… not exactly following what Jie Li suggested in order to trick MS, but because she did remember the good things he did for her. He can feel the change in her feelings?
Fairy : “I counted the flowers in the Arbiter Hall. There are really 8,452 flowers.” (She is bringing up the shared memories that are exclusive to them as a sign of their closeness.)
MS : “What are you trying to say?”
F : “You even remember such a trivial thing? You even remember what happened between us. Your kindness to me is true, not false.” (This is in response to their fight when she first came to the replica Arbiter Hall, where she had been hurt that he said everything was fake, including his kindness to her.)
He looks long and hard at her before explaining about Hellfire and how he needed to have no love in order to control it well.
Flashback to Old Moon Supreme : “The feelings are all over people’s meridians. When it was removed, it would resurrect. If we don’t get rid of the new one, our efforts will be in vain. Only by removing the root of love can you become the most powerful person in the three realms.”
This sounds like poor DFQC had been tortured on and off for years by his father to keep removing the feelings until he could be cut off from the emotional root.
MS says to F : “Now you understand.” Meaning she should understand that he did not love her. He was under the misconception that his emotional root was gone. Fairy looks solemn.
When DFQC visits Orchid in Arbiter Hall, it gives me the feeling the King is visiting his woman in her palace.
He is so jealous of CH hahaha! He is very flattered.
The flower cake scene is nice to watch. Orchid is trying to understand DFQC’s emotion and trying to comfort him. Is she really doing the tricks, or she cares? She may pretend in front of Jei Li that she wants to trick DFQC, but I think she doescares.

I don’t know if DFQC is convincing Orchid, or trying to convince himself that there is no love. I think he is trained to not to love. He lost his father and he doesn’t want to go back to have any emotions. The pain is too big to bear.
Orchid is lovely here again. She digs deep to find out the issue. She looks beyond the harsh words DFQC said. Sometimes issue is not what it looks on surface. Anyone who doesn’t get DFQC would just accept he is mean. However, she knows him. She works out he doesn’t know how to love is because his emotional tree is dead and it is not his fault. She doesn’t give up on him.
That is so much deeper than her admiration to CH.
However instead of his information disappointing Fairy, she recalls that she had woken in his frozen heart at their first kiss, and she had touched his Love Tree. It was not entirely dead ie the root was not entirely removed.

F : “It turns out that’s your Heart Sea and Love Tree.”
MS senses her feelings : “You know about my love-removal, and you are not sad, but happy. Why?”
F’s point of view : “So you said you hated me. It isn’t true. you’ve only been removed from your feelings. You have no choice. It’s not your fault.” He looks a bit surprised. (Instead of how she’d thought that his regard had been fake, she now says it’s his rudeness/cruel words that had been fake. From the Love Tree, she sees that his loss of feelings can be reversed, because she has the power to heal plants.)
F : “Jie Li was right. I should think more about what you did for me. You’ve done so much for me. This time, it’s my turn.” (He can feel her sincerity now. Back to when she was saying she saved him once and that made them even… but now she’s saying that she wants to repay him more.)
F : “It’s just a Love Tree. You’re lucky. Although I’m just a useless fairy, there’s nothing I can’t cure. (That will be more true when she’s the goddess.) He looks at her half hopefully, half disbelievingly?
MS : “Ridiculous. I’ve lost all roots of my Love Tree, just like losing primordial spirits, there is no chance of resurrection. Especially since you’re a weak fairy, and even if you find the ancient gods, it may not be possible.”

Once Fairy gets a ‘mission’ into her head, she does not stop until she’s tried every alternative.
DFQC does have that lion looks when sitting on his chair in the great hall. What’s the name of that? Silent moon hall?
That’s true, what Fairy had with CH was a crush. With DFQC it included different kinds of concern. She went beyond the surface.
Fairy’s point of view about what feelings can do. She thinks that when MS regains the ability to feel, he would have compassion on them, he would stop war with SYT etc. That was the idea she started with when she went all out to help him regain his emotions and understand his dad.
The palace is Silent Moon Palace. I don’t recall what the hall was called. yes, he looked at pictures of lions and got his inspiration for that lion at rest look when he scolded the 2 girls.
LOL the laughing and crying in front of all those kings. That was a good scene.
I really liked how Dylan had to control but could not control the laughter and then the tears LOL. He was so embarrassed, he chased everyone out and told SQ not to look at him. for someone who hardly showed any emotion except anger, it was a shock for all his subjects.
CH woke up too late. DFQC and Orchid has reached a deeper understanding and they care about each other happiness now.

I have started Ever Night 2 but since I didn’t want to watch Ever Night 1 I have started reading the novel to catch up on the prior developments. Ever Night 2 has really beautiful scenery. Snowy mountains. Interesting CGI. I am only up to ep 4.

I’m at the conversation between Shang Que and Jie Li.
Jie Li and SQ have a great chit chat. We find that though both were orphans and mistreated by those who cared for them with lies and scheming, Jie Li is out to take advantage of anyone she can and exact revenge if possible, while SQ swears he will not be like his tormentors, will be upright and trustworthy.
However it ends badly with SQ shocked at her cold-bloodedness. In the future, he’d be shocked again.
Ch gets zapped.I do not remember this part.
Dragon and Jeili seem to be getting closer. They both find out they grew up without parents. For Dragon, people would take his scales. The big difference is that Dragon will not be bitter and will be trust people and Jeili resents those people. She will lie no matter what and will not trust anyone.
Two different thoughts on how to grow up based on your treatment. Dragon is not willing to go down the “wrong” path.
I have yet to rewatch 12-14 😛 So I’m starting from missing some things….

We see Fairy trying to mollify JL who is still cross because MS ‘strangled her’ over their running out of the palace last episode. Fairy is seen as unhappy that someone is angry with her. She’ll cajole and mollify if possible to make things right with the person again. She’ll do the same with MS later.
We see orchid can take her bracelet of. She wasn’t to give ito Jeili.
Orchid sees right though Jeili’s tough exterior. This is the part where I think she gets caught for leaving, but she was only accompanying Jeili. Right?

Sorry, mistake… Jie Lie was angry because she she got strung up/strangled over the emotion fluctuation exlixir (not over the running away) that got MS acting like he was crazy. LOL
Yes Carolina, what’s important in this scene is that she can still take off the Bone Orchid and she gets the Heart-Hiding Hairpin.
She didn’t intend to run away, but JL forced her to accompany her up to the border.
I love Orchid’s outfit here, so dainty and fairy-like.
The ancestors of Moon Tribe and Fairies were a couple till they broke up. Well…the Fairy side betrayed the Moon Tribe. They really made the Fairies up to be not that nice eh? It seems like they are angels but then the way they do things make us feel like it is not so right. They aren’t bad bad but still, something about them is off.

RH -how is Jeili now?
Women (forget her ) – Jieli has escaped to the Silent Moon Palace. I ordered someone to watch outside the palace. As soon as she leaves the palace, we will catch her.
Sounds like she escaped and was not the spy yet.
Fairy puts on the hairpin and they leave the Palace. Almost immediately Die Yi is there to catch them. Fairy tries to protect JL, giving her the Bone Orchid and telling her to run while DY strikes Fairy with a whip. Fairy gets hurt by the whip.

Although he can’t sense her feelings, MS feels the whip wounds on his arms when Die Yi attacks her outside the palace.
Fairy tries to remove the hairpin (to alert MS??) but is whipped again. She loses the Destiny Book. Suddenly CH appears and stops the attack. Fairy faints.

Orchid stands up to the lady and Jeili can’t believe someone is actually protecting her.

Why is fixing the leaf so important again? Is it because they can see Chidi’s destiny?
Orchid starts to fix the leaf and RH goes up. And tada comes out of the fountain.
Despite how we may dislike RH, I have to peg him as one of the smarter people around. He knows how to manipulate and interpret affairs. He bothers to investigate. He comes to the right conclusions.
But he’s scared of DFQC LOL. Even in the scene with DFQC, he never fights him outright. He just tries to get away without being unmasked.
@GB Not sure if she is their spy then, but I think not yet? You are right that she has found refuge in Silent Moon Palace and will be caught once she leaves. Which is why she wanted to escape to Ninth You city…RH & DY can’t find her there?
Somehow she is trapped in Silent Moon Palace, but also trapped outside.
While MS can’t read her mind, he can be hurt if she is hurt….they didn’t expect DY to come and injure Orchid.
Carolina the leaf shows is Chidi’s fate poem. When they know when according to the poem she will die, they can be ready to extract her spirit. RH wants her spirit to revive the body of Chidi (held in cold storage by Evil God) while MS wants her spirit to unseal the Sword and the 100K soldiers.
RH’s costume is actually pretty nice. The colors on the black coat look nice and the texture looks interesting.
RH points out the MS gets to the city pretty quickly. RH knows MS is strong but still sends some men to stall him.
Did you catch the embroidery on MS coat?
For all that Fairy seemed foolish and weak, she was actually smart enough to guess that fixing the Book was a bad idea. She was able to get out of doing this for many weeks. She did not trust MS yet.
MS comes looking for Fairy and pops up in Haishi with a murderous look in his eyes. RH is shocked that he came so soon. Die Yi can’t do much to keep him from breaking through their security. She turns into her butterfly form and gets away from MS’s Hellfire. Poor DY always gets hit by Hellfire but RH gets off scot free!
I love this blue-greeny peacock coloured outfit of MS’s. There are interesting patterns on the sleeves and interesting details on the bodice.
RH : “This is an illusion. There are endless changes. If you want to break it with power, you’ll only fall into it. MS Lord, even if you are powerful, you won’t find that fairy.”
MS : “It’s just a trick. How long can you hold me?”
RH laughs : “A moment is enough.” (Well it was barely enough because RH did get caught by MS for a while.)
The many illusions/images we’ll see again for poor Chidi’s 1,000 lives, but they will be images of Chidi.
Fairy suddenly notices the wooden frame on the table. It should not be have been there because it had been broken by MS before in the real Arbiter Hall. She thinks long and hard, no longer trusting CH. Realising that this cannot be the Arbiter Hall in SYT, she tests RH with a question. He fails the test.

She drops the Destiny Book when she gets tossed to the ground. Meantime MS is not using his power per se but the good old Hellfire sword to cut up the illusion.
lol…@GB about the many body/face swaps, It really shows their acting how much they can ‘transform’ to the other person. Actor acting CH had to act like DY, now had to act like RH. Of course Dylan acting as Orchid is the best and funniest.
RH is quite smart. He really knows what CH would say so as not to raise suspicion. But I’m glad that Orchid is getting smarter now that she has noticed that her Arbiter Hall is different. Goes to show she knows her home really well and that DFQC also managed to build it so exactly.
I’m at the point where MS is looking at all the images. The illusion.
RH tells him that he will get locked up if he can’t find the right Orchid image.
Orchid fixes the leave and notices the book stand tablet still intact.
MS does a cool toss of sword upwards and then sails up to grab it and cut through the illusion in the air as well. The illusion cracks and crumbles.
RH snatches the Destiny Book but thunder in the fake Arbiter Hall signals MS’s advent. Fairy is absolutely sure that DFQC had come to save her. RH scoffs that DFQC just wants the Destiny Book.
Before RH can get away, he’s held down by DFQC’s blast of power. (This is not the first time that DFQC wields power before he makes an actual appearance. So impressive!)
SWOONY ACTION and LINE (Ep 15)
MS appears, putting himself between Fairy and RH (to protect her).
F to MS : “It’s you/You’re here. You came to save me.”
MS to RH : “How dare you touch my person?”
Question: How did moon supreme figure out the right Orchid?
Is it because of the bracelet?
I love the electric guitar part when MS faces RH and asks how dare he touch his person.
RH had warned that using magic in the hall of illusions would cause trouble so MS used his sword instead.
Grace, Orchid remembers the exclusive special moments with each person, as a sign that they have a close relationship. She will use this afterwards in an attempt to mollify MS.

Of course, I have to say DFQC is really on par with RH in intelligence. I’m glad that he is not just power but with lots of smarts, after all he is the Moon Supreme and has to lead a whole tribe.
Carolina, we are never told how he knew which was the right Orchid. He just claimed that he’d know.
Anwyway his coming to save Orchid her was soooo coool.

She gets a good scolding from MS for running off without telling him. LOL.

F : “I didn’t run away. I promised you to fix the Love Tree. I will keep my promise. I won’t run away. I just want to help Jie Li.”
“I don’t care. I’ll say it again. From now on you need to stay in my sight. No matter where you are going, you have to let me know. Do you understand?” She nods. (But of course she never once followed this order. LOL.)

MS realises that he’s been squeezing her shoulders hard and lets go. She looks at him trustingly.
She’s happy to follow him closely. It’s cold and dark and snowing.
He destroys the Soul Transforming Cauldron (again) and this time with the freeing of the souls from the cauldron the fog lifts over Haishi and the sun appears in the sky. It turns bright and clear. MS seems to be pleased with himself and gives Fairy a side-eye look.
F : “Fog and snow are gone. So it is because the Sould Transforming Cauldron refined evil spirits every day, the grief and despair of the deceased can’t disperse. That’s why there was fog and snow in Haishi City. Now you’ve broken the Cauldron, the fog disappeared. That’s great.”

Yes, Carolina, he was so afraid of losing Fairy too, like a parent afraid to lose their child, but in his case… with a different kind of love. He is not aware of it yet.

She wants to say that they had a knowledge shared only between the two of them about the broken wooden frame. As if to make up for the fact that she was more motivated by CH than by MS. Just as he’d remembered the number of flowers in her greenhouse, she’d remembered that he’d broken the wooden frame. These bits of information was exclusive to them and gave them a bond of some kind.
MS does not seem impressed, so she’s a bit disheartened and tries again.
F : “The Lord of Haishi City said there were thousands of illusions and thousands of me. How did you find me so soon?”
SWOONY LINES (Ep 15)
He said he would always find her.
MS : “Even if he put you in thousands of identical orchids, I will find you in an instant.So don’t run away again. Even if you run to the end of the Memory Loss River and the edge of the world, I can still find you. Understand?”

He’s surprised that she tears up. She says she’s crying for joy because that reminded her of what her Master had said.
F : “I’m so happy. Back then my master said the same thing to me. My master was the most important person to me. And you …” unfortunately we don’t know what Fairy would have said MS meant to her because she faints, (AGAIN!) possibly exhausted by expending both nervous and magical energy on the Destiny Book, being attacked by RH and stressed about MS being angry with her. Now that he said something that touches her, she could relax in a faint.
MS catches her and tenderly, cradling her shoulder with his fingers.
LOL Orchid tries tries to make MS happy by showing him the fixed leaf but MS asks how did she do it so fast. So Orchid had to tell him it was because fake CH asks. MS is upset.
I like this scene too, but I can transcribe it fast enough.
In the Xishan, Soul Shattering Abyss, Die Yi gets Evil God to save RH.
Evil God gets to hear about DFQC being able to disable RH even though he’s protected by evil spirits. EG thinks life has gotten interesting now that he has a worthy opponent.
RH recovers enough to tell Evil God that he will bring the reincarnation of the fairy, Xi Yun/Goddess to the Spirit Shattering Abyss and help EG break the realm. RH is quite despicable out of greed.
Fairy wakes up in a Hunting Camp of Cangyan Sea, Dark Pine Forest, where most of the men are gone/dead, and the women are the huntresses.
MS has cooked fish.
F : “Are you still angry.”
He looks stern but says : “No.”
F : “Yes, you are. Wooden Head. I know I was wrong. I won’t run around anymore. No matter where I go, I will tell you. Okay?”

Still unsmiling, MS hands her a roasted fish : “Eat.”
F : “How did you know I was hungry?”
MS “You just fixed the Destiny Book and got frightened. Then you fainted. You’re useless.”

What’s with the sword slashing and making those webs? Honestly don’t understand how he uses that method to confuse the illusion or hit RH. But it is cool nonetheless. And that cocking of his head and cold stare at his enemy was of course awesome!
But now he is upset with Orchid.
This time he is sincerely upset that she will be hurt not because he is worried that he will die because of her. Awww…
Him destroying the Soul Transforming Cauldron shows he isn’t the evil guy everyone assumes him to be. All that he does is to protect his tribe and realm which is what a leader rightfully does.
RH does it for his own selfishness. That’s the big big difference.
I also love how Orchid shows DFQC the fixed Destiny book as if like a kid doing something nice to his/her mum to make up for something wrong.
But of course DFQC felt hurt that it was CH who could make her fix the destiny book eventually and not him.
Orchid makes up for the special thing that only she and DFQC shares, and she smiles really sweetly. “It’s because only the two of us in the world know about this.”
MS watches her eat and notices the hairpin, which he recognises as an ancient treasure : “Where did you get the hairpin?”

He holds out his hand for it but Fairy won’t give it to him.

F : “I’ll return it later. If Jie Li asks me to pay for it I can’t afford it.”
MS : “You can keep it but you can’t wear it. Take it off.”
Fairy almost does but changes her mind: “No.”
MS : “Why?” He asks her 3 times.
F : “Because I don’t want you to know what I’m thinking.
MS : “I want to know what you are thinking so I can protect you in time. What’s wrong with that? You almost lost your life because of this hairpin.”
PRIVACY?? (Why did she want to keep the hairpin? Did she still want to run away? Was she embarrassed because she started to be attracted by MS and didn’t want him to know?)
Awwww…so many sweet moments here. Orchid’s also saying that DFQC is also her dearest and most important person!!
We really see how even when DFQC says the same thing from the begining that she is not to leave his sight. This time his words comfort her thoroughly.

Yes, he had to play his role as the leader of his people, but he didn’t go out of his way to kill for fun or to collude with evil. All that he gained, he had to make self-sacrifices for, but RH sacrificed others for his own ends.

MS : “I can go into any place I want. I can have whatever I want.” (Which makes it more praise worthy that he never takes advantage of anyone.)
F stands up angry for once : “Anyway, I insist. Even you who are the Moon Supreme Lord, even if I’m in danger one day, and you can’t save me. People should be allowed to have secrets.”
He stands up too : “But why was I able to do it in the past. You didn’t mind I knew what you were thinking.”
F : “The past is the past.”
MS : “What’s the difference now?”
He can’t get her to respond so he goes to the tent and lies down in disgust. This is one of the rare times when Fairy is fed up with MS.
Yes this episode had sweet moments and swoony lines as well. I really liked the development of both Orchid and MS feelings. Orchid seems more tuned in to what she may be feeling for MS, but MS still oblivious.

Even from before, we see that Fairy does hold her own against MS in some areas, and stands firm where she is convinced she is in the right. MS did not force her endlessly to give in, although he tried before with bad weather and with threatening Fairy with Jie Li’s life. However his bark was worse than his bite.
@GB I’m sure it’s because her feelings for him becomes more apparent to her and she really wants to hide it from him. It’s a kind of embarrassment and I think she still thinks he doesn’t like her like he said previously and it was only because of the heart curse?
I love DFQC’s angry stare that contrast is so apparent when Orchid was in his body and the look in the eyes were so different! Pretty satisfying to watch.
Again about the privacy…last time he was trying to see what her original form is and she complained it’s invading her privacy. Now he wants to know what she’s thinking to protect her but it also invades into her privacy.
“People have secrets!” she complains 😀

Grace, glad that you feel the same way I do, that she was embarrassed about how she felt about him and didn’t want him to know. So in this sense, she may have become attracted to him earlier, but later it seems his love for her was deeper sooner.

Fairy is with the Hunters and finds out that the white flower in their hair means that they are widows.
MS looks solemn as he hears the hunter lady speak to Fairy about the loss of their husbands. He is also feeling bad for them and ‘guilty’ that he cannot bring back their husbands. Fairy reattaches the flower to the stem, a sign that she can heal any plant. (I like that MS is so human in this area, although he has not yet regained all his feelings.)
Fairy to herself : “Flowers can be revived, but not humans. I really hope their families come back home too.” (She does not know yet that her power extends beyond plants and that she was the one who enabled MS’s primordial spirit to be reattached to his body. She’d saved him from the beginning without the 2 of them knowing it at this time.)
Onto the next episode where Orchid learns about the Moon Tribe women. She picks up a flower and tries to wear it, but she learns that only widows wear the flowers. The Moon tribe woman goes on to tell her that all the women have lost heir man because of war. They are the casualties of the decisions of the kings.
Orchid exchanges glances with MS. She states that flowers can be revived but not people. Once people die, they are gone forever.
Orchid – I really hope their families can come back home too.
This is Orchid’s journey to learn about the Moon Tribe and their suffering. That they are not the evil people the fairies make them out to be.
Oh I have to check out the ending songs. Netflix is quick to move on and honestly I did not pay attention well enough. I’ll have to go back.
Yes, Carolina, Fairy hears from the Moon Tribe their sorrows, sees MS being sad too, and later hears what they expect from their Lord, MS. She starts to understand more the heavy weight on his shoulders that he briefly mentioned when they swapped bodies.
I only discovered the different ending songs today. I started playing the endings of a few episodes and found that they were different. Such a nice way to ensure all the OSTs get a thorough airing.

I think DFQC is also feeling for his own people, the sadness of losing a loved one. Do you think it is something he didn’t experience before? This makes is mission to bring back the 10,000 soldiers lost previously more important. Even though I think, these who lost loved ones were lost in the recent battles.
He is really feared by all and I wonder if he was worse previously but come to think of it, if consistent with his character, I don’t think he killed people unnecessarily. Like you said @GB, his bark is worse than his bite. It is the power and the potential of his power that is scary.
It’s interesting that the lies that the fairies told about MS being dead may have drifted to Moon Tribe but when they see MS, all they ask is where have you been? No one seems to have heard what happened to him. Hidden history because it’s not to the benefit of the fairies.
MS himself refuses to explain… maybe it was a shameful thing to have been locked up for 30,000 years.
The funny thing grace is that everyone expects him to kill as punishment, but he does not bother half or most of the time.
I’m at the point where he’s heard the old lady speak and is looking over the cliff. Fairy wants to ask some questions.
Fairy asks why MS never revealed how hard he worked for the Moon Tribe to the people. They did not understand why he disappeared.
F : “Why didn’t you explain back then. You didn’t mean to abandon them. And you work so hard for the whole Moon Tribe. You’ve never slacked off. Why?” (He never explains LOL.)
MS : “No reason.”
F : “Can’t you tell me?”
MS : ” Why should I tell you?” (Like he says, he never explains anything.) “Didn’t you say that people should have secrets?”
F : “But this is different.”
(LOL he likes to throw her words back at her, but this is not a personal secret thing.)
(OST violins… I like this piece when MS reminisces about his dad and him as a child.)
MS thinks back on his childhood. We see him and his father with swords. MS as a child had kicked a wooden ball and disturbed the father’s meeting (where they had no way to defend themselves against the Spirit-Vanishing Arrows of the Fairies). Father had kicked the ball back at young QC.
They had played football together.
In the present, MS looks thoughtful and wistful. Fairy is watching his face.

MS : “What are you looking at?”
F : “I’m looking at your expression. This is the first time I’ve seen you like this.”
I cannot transcribe the whole scene with the Old lady asking MS why he came back and not the men he took to battle. MS does not explain or retaliate for the questioning. Instead he walks away. As you mentioned, MS is burndend by the fact he cannot bring the men back to life.
We see that Orchid wants to know why MS did not explain his situation to the tribe elderly. MS just says that it is his secret to keep this time. Orchid pouts and says it’s different.
F to MS : “I was saying I envy you.”
MS : “What’s there to envy? In my opinion, it’s better to be like you, born in nature without any attachment.”
Fairy shakes her head vigorously : “Wooden Head, you don’t understand. It’s really lonely to be like this. It’s better to have attachments.”
MS : “I told you already the attachment of love will only be a burden.”
Fairy still smiles sweetly at him.
MS : “Why are you smiling/laughing?”

F : “You’re saying things you didn’t mean.” (She’d somehow cottoned on that he cared a lot more than he was admitting to.)
MS : “What do you mean?”
F : “When I first arrived at Cangyan Sea, everyone said the MS’s power is sovereign. Anyone who offended you for any reason, will die. But back then, the old granny scolded you to your face like that. Yet you didn’t punish her. I think it is because you were touched by her love and attachment to her family. Right?”

MS : “Nonsense. She was old and dying, I just could not bear it.”
F : ” ‘Couldn’t bear it’? That stands for sympathy and compassion in seven feelings. But you’ve removed the seven feelings. How could it be?”
We see them both standing and looking at his Love Tree which starts to bud green lit buds… the colour of Xishan Goddess’ magic.
We find that while Fairy is glad MS is gaining his emotions, he starts to become upset. His nightmares start from his return from this trip.
F looks at MS’s Love Tree : “It really sprouted. Last time I was here it was a withered tree. I can’t believe it really sprouted. I told you I could cure your Love Tree.”
MS looks at the tree in surprise and with a conflicted expression.
Fairy is surprised that he does not look happy but does not ask why.
@GB yes very true his has a reputation for being heartless but we have yet to see him kill someone or retaliate for a petty reason.
MS prefers to have not attachments because the are weaknesses, yet Orchid points out that it may have been the love and attachments that the old lady have for her family that moved MS not to punish her. MS dispute that it is because she was old.

MS is worried about regaining the feelings. The next day he rejects Fairy’s offer of an orchid grown from her primordial spirit. She wanted to give it to him to help him get a good night’s sleep.
F : “But your Love Tree has just recovered.”
MS : “How dare you mention it to me?” (LOL the wrong thing to say since he didn’t really know if he wanted to go through all the torment of feeling again.)
MS : “I endured the suffering in Hell so that I could remove my feelings. Because of you, my feeling have returned nowadays. Isn’t my suffering all in vain? I have to be ruthless to kill all over the world and lead the Moon Tribe. What do you want me to do with my responsibilities?”
F : “I just don’t want to see you in pain.”
MS : “I was never in pain. It’s all because of you. Ever since you showed up, my suffering began. Why must you act on your own and meddle with me? Don’t let me see your face again.”
Fairy walks off with her Orchid plant, feeling hurt. MS remains in a bad mood for a few days.
SQ asks MS what has been worrying him and he tells him truthfully : “My seven feelings are recovering.” (This shows that he trusts Fairy who says SQ is loyal, and now he trusts SQ as well.)

Jie Li is brought in by the guards who caught her stealing, with the treasure that she stole.
MS to Jie Li: “It’s you again. I haven’t settled with you yet for cajoling Fairy into running away. Now you’re casting your eyes on the Pavilion.”
Jie Li lies that she was taking things to amuse Fairy with.
SQ takes the bag of loot.
MS looks at the silk that comes out of the bag : “Are you sure she likes these things?” (He’s willing to be tricked by Jie Li if it might amuse Fairy.) Jie Li lies that of course Fairy would like those things.

MS : “Since she likes those things, you can give them to her.” (So indulgent!!!) “Also if she likes anything else, tell her to take as many as she likes.” (That’s my kind of boyfriend!! LOL)
However among the stolen articles MS seems to sense or see the wooden figurine of Yannv. It had been carved by him. This shows that JL had lied about the things being for Fairy, since it wasn’t mentioned as the stuff girls like.
The figurine had a sad, personal memory attached to it. MS, already in a bad mood, becomes very upset at seeing the figurine again. Too bad Jie Li had to be the one to receive his wrath.
Granny Tie says “Where did you go after deserting us?” How did the story for them end up with him deserting them? Then again, no one may have known where he went, and obviously the Fairies weren’t going to tell the Moon Tribe people. So they lost him for such a long time, the leader they feared and respected so much. He is like their savior or super respected king. They depended on him so much for peace in their land.
I liked that Orchid is able to see his side of the story, the people who mattered to him and so can understand the great responsibility he carries. To see the real pain of war that I’m sure DFQC would not have wanted either.
Flashback to MS as a teenager.
His hands were bleeding from practising with a real sword. One of the maids who took care of him, came to speak with him. She showed him the partially carved figurine and he took over to complete it. The maid noted that he could be a top carpenter if not for having to be Moon Supreme. He had been an affectionate boy.
DFQC as a teen : “But father said I can only be the Moon Supreme in the future.” I have to fight SYT and kill many people.

DFQC wanted to do as his father wished and to make him proud. The maid tells him that as …”MS or as a carpenter you have to be a strong person. Do you who this statue is of? This is the founder of our Moon Tribe, the first Moon Supreme, Yannv. She led our ancestors to cross Memory Loss River and put down roots in the Cangyan Sea. And we have prospered since. See, she has many scars. Everyone of them is a token of glory. You will be MS just like her in the future and lead our tribe back to glory. (She points out the scar on his hands.) This will be your first scar.”
In the present, MS orders SQ kill her on the spot. (Possibly he’s trying to reverse the revival of his feelings by being cruel.)
SQ tries to take over the punishment : “I was negligent. Punish me if you want.” (So SQ is already attached to JL.)
MS : “Are you disobeying my order?” With a flick of his head, SQ is thrown to one side and the guard next to JL raises his axe to kill her, but Fairy is suddenly there, protecting JL with her body. MS has to stop the axe just as it touches Fairy, leaving a cut on her arm.
SQ is injured on his side but struggles to get up. Fairy begs MS not to kill JL.
MS comes forward to where the girls are crouched : “Step aside.”
F : “Moon Supreme Lord, listen to me. It was my idea to escape last time. I also asked her to steal from the Pavilion. (Fairy is not above lying to save a friend.) It’s all my fault. Don’t blame her.”
She refuses to step aside. In fact she stands up to MS, while kneeling between him and Jie Lie

F : “She’s my one true friend.” (Actually not yet.) “I can’t watch her die. Besides I’ve already made you unhappy. You don’t want to see me anymore. If you want to kill, then kill me.”

(It’s interesting that MS does not mind his brother wanting to kill him, but it matters more that he does not betray his people.)
XF : “Although I hate your guts, I’m also Father’s son. They are my people too. Why would I do something that will hurt my people?”
MS : “You let the wolf in and let others manipulate you. How foolish!”
XF : “DFQC you are one to talk. Everything started because of you. If it wasn’t for revenge, I wouldn’t have been blinded by that vile man.” (Kiddo likes to lay blame elsewhere. He’s not mature enough to be MS.)

DFQC doesn’t explain himself and in a way he doesn’t try to make excuses or justify his actions. It is kinda a respectable quality but also frustrating.

DFCQ doesn’t want his 7 Emotions tree to be cured though…yet this is totally out of his control. It is giving him more angst than joy.
If we compare DFQC sense of responsibility with CH, it feels so different. CH’s sense of resopnsibility comes from his brother, DFQC’s is for the welfare of his people. he asks her “What do you want me to do with my responsibilities?” He is frustrated.
That Xunfeng. I am not crazy about him as a brother. MS does care for his people.
XF doesn’t understand why MS killed his father. He’ll eventually come to understand but XF will still be a bit annoying to me lol
Do you think XF had enough of a remdemption arc? it bothered me that he didn’t seem to do enough for his brother.

CH is duty bound. However, he doesn’t like his position. completely understandable because he sees that it’s not a fair fight with the moon tribe. However, his duty is to his brother. He is not able to stand up to his brother.
Fairy is upset to hear that MS is having his brother killed. She goes to speak with MS but the guards stop her. He allows her to enter his presence.
F : “Did XF collude with the Lord of Haishi City on purpose?” (She wants to save XF.)
MS shakes his head : “He was tricked by the Lord of Haishi city.”

I love how DFQC as a child already have such a strong sense of calling for his role as a future MS. “I want to revive Canyan Sea and lead the Moon Tribe to a good life. I want to fulfill Father’s expectations and make him proud of me.” It is an honourable goal and motivation.
This Lady Yan is quite something, I wonder if there is a separate story about her. She crossed Oblivion River and establishing roots in Cangyan Sea. …Her scars are a testimony of glory. He has such a good mentor to inspire him in the right way and I guess that’s why he grew up with solid values…to be strong, to take care of his people.
Carolina, I always felt that DFQC was too indulgent with his brother. AFter he took on the lightning strikes, he started to treat him well. XF was not punished for any rudeness before or for the Cheng Ying Sword thing which enable Fairy to kill herself.
Grace, MS as a child seems to have been cared for by maids. No sign of a mother. His father, at least, did play with him. Strangely, we don’t see him playing with his brother.
Orchid is on am mission to get the back story between father and son.
DFQC’s bad mood resulted in hurting SQ, wanting to kill JL, wanting to burn the wooden statue. It is emotional. Like when you are in a bad mood you just want to lash out at people.
The Closing OST for Ep 16 is Amnesia by Esther Yu. Which seems appropriate since we end off thinking about MS’s past. Fairy wants to know what happened with Old MS and DFQC as a teenager. SQ was around at that time as well… a more than 30,000 year old dragon!
I did have a question about what MS says about his father. He says his father doted on his brother, but we see his memories with his father playing ball. I was not sure if that was a memory MS forgot or he was exaggerating.
We do not see MS mother. Wonder what that story is too?
@GB yes XF does not get punish. He seems to get treated well even though he still gets int he way of Orchid and MS love.
Grace, yes, that’s the pity of having emotions. In the past he behaved objectively, impartially … but we see him getting worked up and applying punishment heavy-handedly. This is the only time he behaves the way people expected him to, which is unlike his normal self.
Carolina, I’m guessing that when MS says his father never loved him, he’s thinking of the time after he started getting tortured, and did not consider his childhood. Or the time when he was able to handle the Hellfire sword.
His father stopped smiling because he was upset that his fave son was going to have to be tortured to be able to wield Hellfire. But again, frustratingly, the father never explained that to DFQC. DFQC carried a great burden of hatred and unforgiveness because of this.
Comment about costumes:
Orchid has a new dress. Blue and light blue, it’s so pretty. I also like her hair pieces too. Have you seen all the costumes for the character that they wear on the show?
I want to see it for each character. =) in one place so I can compare.
Thanks @GB for answering. That makes sense. It would have been nice for the father to have communicated that his MS. But it may have been part of the process as well.
@GB @Carolina, I also feel that DFQC lets XF off too easily. I am also suspicious of XF, expecting him to do something against DFQC. I’m glad that at least he has a heart to care for his own people as well but he really doesn’t have the capacity or smarts to lead the Moon Tribe. I’m sure it is what their dad saw early on, that DFQC really has the talent to do so.
@Carolina, I guess they don’t really expand on the mother’s story like CH’s mother too. It had a one liner and that’s it but then again it helps keep the story tight.
All these overflowing emotions of DFQC, his resentment towards his dad for using such a cruel way to expedite his hell fire power, is coming in to him and that is making him really a grouchy. Thankfully Orchid is there to smoothen his moods and help him get resolution.

Just cause I wonder about the back stories of some the characters does not mean I want to see the drama expanded by 6 or 7 episodes. lol

Hi @grace, in WordPress, the codes for the block quotes are angle brackets and the word ‘blockquote’ between them, at the start and the end of the text to be quoted.
Replace the square brackets here with angle brackets and the words will appear as quotations: [blockquote]These are the words that are to be quoted[/blockquote]. I hope this works so you see the square brackets! I have to try it to see.

Hey @GB, you know you picked up that DCQC only said “Wo” once at the end. Dylan has confirmed that! When the casts were talking about their most memorable lines, (around 0:24:55 in the clip) he said:
Dylan : My most memorable line is “I am back.”
Esther: Excuse me?
Dylan: That was my…DFQC’s last line in the drama. Also, DFCQ has said “Ben Zhuo” in the entire drama. Then he used this line ” ‘Wo’ am back”, said to Orchid.
Then Esther joked around.
The MC was impressed and said she didn’t pick up that detail. (about 0:25:30 in the clip)

Ahh right, I am still ep 15. I found the episodes before mortal realm are very meaningful. Usually show some progress and growth of the charcters and relationship. The mortal realm is the most difficult part to get through. Although there are still some memorable and touching lines of DFQC which we can talk about when we get there. 😊
That’s true @Viva. The mortal realm scenes, though some with filler, were essential for setting the stage for the last 3rd of the series. I think though, for me, the more heavy (emotionally) and difficult scenes are the ones to be rewatched today, 17 and 18. Then they end off sort of sweet, but not entirely.
I’m looking forward to their Yun Meng scenes, the camaraderie, and SQ getting all blushy-shy with Jie Li.

True about the many actors who had to play multiple roles in this show. I wanted to list them as well, but Dylan has also done so. I forgot that Fairy also acted as Chidi.

REWATCH of EPISODES 17 AND 18
I felt that these 2 episodes were heavier in terms of the emotional content, or DFQC’s emotional root had grown back with a vengeance and it brought with it a real storm of negative feelings: anger, resentment, but followed by healing.
Fairy is with SQ and Jie Li. She asks about what exactly happened when Old MS (OMS) was killed.
SQ tells fairy about the love removal theurgy in an ancient secret book that OMS used on DFQC. Fairy wants to read it to know what MS went through. The book is supposed to have been burnt but Fairy wants to find it anyway. They search for it in the Old MS’s (OMS) room, whose entry had been forbidden by MS.
Jie Li and SQ help Fairy in the search, although they protest that they’ll end up angering MS and getting horribly punished.
In the meantime, DFQC is suffering an emotional upheaval as his Heart Sea thaws out quickly. He paces back and forth, shaking, sweating… The ice of the Sea breaks violently as it melts, the water of the sea comes to view and the grass over his Love Tree island is uncovered under the ice. Sun breaks out over the island.
(OST The Light, which I really like!)
DFQC appears in a black puff of smoke, trembling, covered in cold sweat. It’s a beautiful day on the Heart Sea island with sun’s rays falling around DFQC and green grass underfoot.
He tries to engulf the Love Tree in Hellfire, without success. It remains unscathed and continues to bud new leaves. The sun shines down on it brighter than ever. DFQC looks defeated.
FLASHBACK
He recalls the time he’d learned the zither from the maid who had encouraged him and who said that his father would like the piece of music he’d learnt and practised.
DFQC as a teenager was eager to please his father. He had carved the ice zither for his father but Old MS threw it to the ground where it broke into pieces. He was chastised for spending time learning to play the music.
OMS has Aunt Wu and the maids that taught him and cared for him executed. Young DFQC is enraged, grabs the sword from a guard and almost strikes his father. He does not kill him because of their relationship but the beatings and his torture begins.

In the present, MS walks into Fuju Cave, starts up the process of feeling extraction and enters the sarcophagus of Yannv to go through the torture he’d suffered as a teenager. (Needless to say, it does not work except to make him suffer.)
Back at the Palace, Fairy finds the ancient book in a box, all in ashes. Since it’s made of wood Fairy decides to try to fix it or at least restore an image of it. She succeeds in creating an image projection of the contents of the book that they can read.
MS endures the torture in Fuju Cave. He recalls how he’d asked his father to kill him.
(OST Farewell Love)
While we see the BACKSTORY memory of DFQC, Fairy, SQ and JL read about it at the same time from the book.
OMS in the past had said to DFQC : “As long as you don’t get rid of your love, you shall not leave this spell. Let me ask you, have you forgotten parental love and brotherhood?” … He had. “Then what do you remember?”
DFQC : “The vow to revive the Moon Tribe. To crush SYT.”
OMS had been satisfied and relieved. He said to himself that there was only 1 more step to go (ie to have DFQC kill a loved one. My surmise is that OMS had to hand over the MS title to his son by letting DFQC kill him in public so that there would be no doubts as to DFQC’s right to power.)

Fairy and company are a bit stunned after reading the book. Fairy can’t believe how painful it was to remove feelings. Fairy is in tears and almost collapses herself.
SQ : “I understand now, My Lord has been suffering and irritable lately. It must be because his Love Tree has come back to life again. That reminds him of his childhood. He will never forgive his father.”

F : “I will never understand why a father would treat his son like this. Didn’t he love his child at all?”
Fairy still thinks that there’s a hidden story. She searches near the bed and finds the zither (inscribed ‘A gift from QC to Father’) that has been repaired, and the wooden ball DFQC had played with.
Fairy notes that a zither of no more use but repaired and the child’s ball were placed in the closest cabinet to the bed: a sign of how OMS had cherished the gift and his son, QC.
There was also a scroll hidden there, ‘The Book of the Living’, kept by the closest attendant, which recorded DFQC’s words and actions. Instead of being in the Treasury OMS had hidden it. Fairy guessed that it held a secret.
Fairy reads in ‘The Book of the Living’ that XF was unable to wield the Hellfire Sword but QC wielded it with ease. He was the best after Yannv. Fairy guesses that the reason OMS took away The Book of the Living was because he didn’t want others to know that DFQC was the only person who could use the Hellfire Sword.
F : “DFQC once told me that anyone who wants to learn Hellfire must first be gifted and second be removed from love. In all the three realms, only Yannv was qualified. Back then Yannv was betrayed by Chonghua from SYT. She then learned Hellfire after cutting off her love. ”
Fairy realises that when OMS had said “Why you?” after finding out that DFQC could master Hellfire, he meant that he was upset that it was his beloved son’s love and happiness that had to be sacrificed.
23:52 Fairy felt sad.
“He must have felt very sad. He was his most beloved son, but he had to learn Hellfire, remove love, and suffer every pain to revitalise the Canyan Sea. That’s why he looked at DFQC and said, “Why you/Why did it have to be you?”
Since JL pointed out that Fairy was only guessing, and that there was no way of knowing except to ask OMS, Fairy decides to do the unthinkable ie meet the spirit of OMS at the bottom of Memory Loss River. For this she needs a living Ranxi Flower.
This proves to be a bit difficult but impossible since there’s a dead flower in the palace, and Fairy revived it after hours of effort and a drop of her blood. (The cut on her arm opened up and bled).
MS is out of Fuji Cave, is back in his room and wonders why the wound on his arm has opened.
Fairy heads into the Memory Loss River while MS is about to start the execution of Xun Feng. He delays it however when Fairy receives another injury and MS sees it appearing on his arm. He goes after Fairy into the Memory Loss River.
(I like that Fairy lets nothing deter her when she feels that she is on the right path or is out to do good. The protests and objections of SQ and JL did nothing to weaken her resolve.)
Before she flew into the river, Fairy had said : “As long as there is a glimmer of hope, I won’t give up.”
Jie Li pretends that she’s not worried about Fairy, but she is. From the time that Fairy saved her a 3rd or 4th time, JL had come around to being attached to Fairy.
(I also like that although MS had no clue what Fairy was doing, the fact that she was getting injured was enough to break his plans and set him off to check on and rescue her. This is after he told her to not show her face to him and after she had stopped him from killing Jie Li. So he was still in a bad mood with her as well.)
Fairy had an added incentive to finding out about OMS’s actions with regards to DFQC. She tells Jie Li that she’d thought of all the rational reasons why she should not go into the river but “I’m still going. DFQC is already guilty of killing his father. Now he insists on executing Xun Feng. The world will think that he’s killing his sibling and repeating the patricide. I can’t let him be misunderstood like this.”
SAVE Count (Ep 17) (So Fairy was actually saving MS once again, quietly.)
(OST The Light)
Fairy enters the Realm of the Ruin of Souls where the souls of the dead reside. She enters the replica of OMS’s room, releases the Cloud Shadow Mirror and sets the Ranxi Flower to burn so that the soul of OMS can appear as a person. DFQC comes to stop her and take her back, but she refuses to budge. DFQC notes that his father was imperious before but is only a pathetic/poor spirit now. He’s still angry with Fairy and his father and does not want to know anything OMS has to say.
Although DFQC shouts protests at Fairy, he does not force her to leave with him. She shows him the fixed zither. He accuses her of going to the forbidden room. But she have her way.
OMS takes form and speaks with Fairy. She says that OMS’s son sent her there LOL. OMS wants to know if DFQC had completed his mission.
DFQC : “This is all he cares about.” (Still the resentful child.)
Fairy cleverly turns the conversation to the repaired zither. We see OMS of the past repairing it carefully, touching it tenderly, and he admits that he trampled on it, but was very sad.
DFQC : “Hypocrite!” He comes up to his father “If you couldn’t bear it, why did you destroy it with your own hands?”
END OF EPISODE 17
EPISODE 18 REWATCH STARTS HERE
MS speaks angrily to his dead father’s spirit (Here is the list of ‘crimes’ that Old Moon Supreme (OMS) committed against DFQC): “You’ve always used me as a tool to revive the Moon Tribe!”
“You made me suffer the loss of my emotions and my ability to love!
You made me bear the name of killing my own father! (He has rightly felt resentful. Perhaps it was his father’s aim to make MS hate him as well, so that he would be able to kill him and master Hellfire.)
You made me a monster that everyone avoids! (Here is the hint that MS had been lonely.)
Have you ever felt heartbroken for me? Or have you ever found it unbearable to see me suffer?”
OMS tells DFQC that he was the hope for the survival of the Moon Tribe.
MS : “This again. I’m sick of it.”
(It was very unfair that he could only live as the saviour of the people and never as his own person. It happens still, though, in real life.)
OMS tells QC that he would make the same decision again, if he could turn back time. MS considers his father worst than a beast, and that he too is a son who is worse than a beast.
OMS’s point of view is that he had no choice because Chidi Woman had been conquering their lands.
(The question of whether this is justifiable is not exactly answered, however by the end of the series, Fairy demonstrates that there is a choice.)
(These scenes with OMS are where I applaud the scriptwriter (I just read that they revised the script 19 times!!! over 3 years) These were so intense, but revelatory. They clarified the past and prepared us well for the consistent decisions and behaviour of the future.)
MS accuses his father : “You treated me like a sharp blade without feelings to resist the Fairy Realm.”
Father : “I couldn’t bear to see you suffer.”
MS : “You should have killed me but you made me suffer.”
Father : “I couldn’t bear to see you suffer so I chose for you to kill me.”
MS shouts : “Have you considered my feelings?”
Fairy asks the OMS what he means by letting MS kill him. She learns that besides the secret technique of love removal the only way was to kill a loved one, then emotions can be destroyed at that moment.
F : “So you chose to let him kill you.”
OMS : “It’s worth sacrificing my life. QC your emotional root has recovered. That’s why you’re in so much pain. Do you want to fulfil your destiny or suffer. If you continue to indulge in your emotions and love, you will be in pain.”
OMS wants DFQC to shatter his soul so that his emotional root will be killed and QC won’t be in pain (over killing his father) otherwise he’d suffer.
(I like that Show explores how emotions and even pain are not a weakness, but can be a source of strength. Fairy had demonstrated this when against the bullying of the fairies she’d worked together with them to save them from monster, Ying Zhao. Now once again OMS was trying to get DFQC to avoid having pain and feelings).
MS can’t bring himself to attack his father again
OMS : “Are you willing to bear the pain of having killed your own father?”

MS however considers his time practising with the sword and playing ball with his father the happiest memories that he did not want to lose.
MS makes his decision as an adult : “Recently I kept thinking in the day and dreaming at night. They were the happy moments for us, practising sword fighting and playing football. So this time, I have to make my own decision. I’d rather bear the pain of killing my own father and bear the pain caused by emotions and love. I don’t want to forget those feelings.”
SAVE Count (Ep 18)
(We can guess that having tasted what it was to love Fairy, he knew he’d never want to forego having love and emotions again. Fairy had saved him just by being with him.)
Fairy takes out the wooden ball. OMS kicks it to MS but MS cannot bring himself to kick it back to him. The ‘ball’ and all it signifies, has literally been passed by his father to him. The ball is in his court. The flower burns down and is consumed. OMS disappears.
There are tears all around, on OMS’ face, on Fairy’s and some glistening in MS’s eyes and we can see from the weather, thunder and lightning, a sign that MS’s mood is far from good.
In the Palace the execution of Xun Feng is underway, but MS stops it at 30 strikes. Having started to understand and forgive his father, he possibly feels partially responsible for the mistakes XF made, out of wanting revenge, never knowing why his father was killed. MS takes on the remaining 51 lightning strikes, and survives.
Fairy berates XF for still mocking his brother and leaves him the Cloud Shadow Mirror that recorded the conversation with his dead father. MS observes Fairy defending him.
It is probably from this time onwards that he becomes aware of how much she cares about him, and that he reciprocates.
I was posting on another thread, that when he woke up after some time, his first thought was to ask Fairy where she was going. He held on to her hand, but she responded by holding on to his arm with both her hands.
When she said she was not going anywhere, but to check his medicine, I felt that he seemed to interpret it to mean that she was no longer thinking of running away.
We next see him mourning the loss of his father (it was the anniversary of his death) and accepting the pain of having killed him. He no longer blames his father., and after hesitation, allows Fairy to comfort him.
He’s able to be completely vulnerable with Fairy.
We commented before on the MS attempting to keep Fairy close by, by pretending that he was still in pain and needing her to help him walk. He’s a lousy actor, pretending to cough and refusing to take his medicine until he’s cajoled like a child, LOL. I liked the change in BGM.
XF has watched what happened in the meeting between his father and DFQC and feels bad. He wanders around outside MS’s quarters. XF finally gives his brother the required greeting of obeisance and reports on his dealings with Haishi and Fairy notes that XF was hoping to say more to him but didn’t dare. She teaches him how to be intimate with his brother.
I guess we can start the SMILE count! 🙂
I like that MS gives YF a chance to redeem himself instead of sticking with punishment.
MS tells him that he has not pardoned XF however : “From now on you have to win on the battlefield to correct your mistake.” Fairy smiles to hear this.
Fairy pointed out to MS that XF wanted to say more to him and that MS should be more friendly towards XF.
F : “Wooden Head are you still holding a grudge against His Highness Xun Feng for wanting to kill you?”
MS : “There are tens of thousands of people in the three realms who want to kill me. He’s not even on the list. It’s a small matter. Since he admitted that his mistake, I don’t blame him.”
MS has been consistently more indulgent with his brother, even forgiving XF for wanting to kill him.
LOL Fairy gives him lessons in how to become closer towards his brother but he calls it cheesy.
Jie Li notices Fairy smiling to herself.
F : “Jie Lie have you ever noticed that sometimes the Moon Supreme Lord is quite cute?” (a sign that she’s quite fallen for him).
JL can’t believe her ears : “Cute? Are you alright? How can the MS Lord be linked to cuteness?” (LOL yes, it’s hard to believe.)
F : “You didn’t see it. When he was learning how to smile at people, he was silly and cute. He’ll do whatever you tell him to do. He’s very serious.”
JL : “Orchid, Orchid, you’re really something. I thought I was a good liar. …” She says that Orchid is a good actress.
JL : “First you risked your life to find OMS’s primordial spirit at the bottom of Memory Loss River. Then you boiled medicine and made pastries for him every day. Whenever you talk about him, you smile and glow. If I hadn’t known you were acting, (this is because long before in Ep 16? Fairy had told JL to not believe that she was in love with MS, she had said that she was pretending in order to escape from Cangyan Sea) I would have been like the Moon Supreme and think that you’ve betrayed SYT for him.”
Fairy drops the cake, stunned? and becomes thoughtful. JL asks if she is not acting but serious. (It seems like the idea that she’s fallen for MS is new to her? She’d fallen for him without realising it. And the thought of being considered a true traitor gives her pause.)
F lies to JL that she was acting but actually she’s no longer sure.
SMILE Count (Ep 18) – Yes smiles galore from our MS!
MS is practising his smile in a mirror. XF comes.
MS tells XF to locate Xie Wan Qing in the mortal realm and to prepare to get her primordial spirit for the Shuo Feng Sword. He tries to pat his brother on the shoulder but XF is skittish. MS tries to show some concern for his brother with a small smile. SQ smiles broadly to witness this.
MS smiles at SQ too and finds it strange. Shang Que smiles to see MS trying to be friendly with his brother. MS practises his smile with Shang Que as well.
Fairy is glad to hear the report from Shang Que about how MS was trying to get close to XF. She thinks it’s a massive improvement. MS can feel forgiveness, kindness, and mercy.
SQ and JL wonder if MS changes like this, whether he would still be the MS. “Since ancient times, Fairies and Moon Tribe have been enemies. Yannv, our first ancestor once passed an ancestral teaching. Only the tough general who never gives up on hatred is the key to the survival of the Moon Tribe.”
Fairy : “Why must there be hatred? Whether in the Moon Tribe or with Fairies, there are good people.”
SQ believes that MS would still destroy Shuiyuntian.
Fairy thinks that because he didn’t see MS with his father. “He’s different. He’s no longer the DFQC we know.”
But she will be proven wrong, much to her horror.
SMILE Count (Ep 18)
MS comes to see Fairy. He gives her a small smile, but seems a bit embarrassed and removes it. He had taken his medicine and wanted to know about the rice cakes.
He also came to thank her in the Moon Tribe way, saying “I thank you very much.” She does not want blood on her face but he has anticipated that and transformed the blood into cinnabar. (Thoughtful of him!)
She still demurs, but he says she can’t avoid it because “This is the first time I’ve ever thanked a person. Don’t refuse me.” (Might this have added significance in that he takes her acceptance of his thanks, as an indication of her readiness to accept him as her ‘boyfriend’?)
Fairy accepts the cinnabar on her face. He touches her face gently, and smiles at her.

(Dylan Wang added jokingly that there is only Yun Zhongjun). Di Di (nick name for Dylan Wang) finally said “I wish every girl can find Dongfang Qingcang who belongs to her!” Or it may read better to say “I wish every girl can find her Dongfang QingCang!”.

Charles Lin was very satisfied with being Dongfang Qingcang’s assistant, vehicle, driver, and love life adviser. The host asked the Big Black Dragon (SQ’s nickname) if he was injured by his greeting hand gesture (where he beats his chest every time he greets Moon Supreme.) Charles Lin turned on his “gan hua” mode (I think gan hua is a Taiwanese slang. I googled that, and I interpret that is the way employees speak when responding to unfair treatment/request from their boss):
“I recovered [assuming from the chest pain] when the drama finished filming last summer vocation. However during the show promotions, I was cued by Wang Hedi many times …” Then SQ repeated the greetings with force on the spot

Question 27: Music sheet is ad-lib? Are they referring to the time MS and CH played the Guzheng? Yes
Orchid wanted the two strongest persons from the Fairy Tribe and the Moon tribe to purify Memory Loss river lost souls. Dongfang Qingcang said, “Since this is a request from Orchid, and there is a good reason for this. I will allow that, music sheet?” MS then reached out to CH for music sheet. That part is ad lib.

At the moment, I’m still OK for other times to be selected, and scheduled. I was hoping to be able to complete this series rewatch in 2 weeks just as the Liar Game Rewatch Party starts. I believe we’ll have some overlap, but that’s OK too.

NZ is going to move forward an hour for our summer daylight saving this weekend. So after this Sunday, our timing difference will be 5 hours! I may have to start the rewatch half an hour earlier than you next week.

For the time being I’ll meet you, @Viva, once a week on Fridays (yes starting half an hour earlier is possible for me ).
For discussion sake, I’m estimating based on a ‘worst case’ scenario that we cover only 2 or at the most 4 episodes per week. I’ll be away for a couple of weeks in the beginning of Nov, during which I’d like to ask for a 2 weekend break in the party, therefore I’m estimating that we’ll be going into December for the end of the series. In a better than ‘worst case’ scenario, we may end in November.
I’m not averse to going slower on the rewatch, (especially so that more Bitches can catch up with the episodes and join us), however I don’t think we can wait for the Liar Game party to end, that will take too long. Let’s just continue right through with the overlap in both parties, and see how we manage. The Sat 14:00 UTC rewatch time will go to Liar Game.
If there are still some of us who really love LBFD and want to do a slower rewatch at a separate time later, I guess we can do so, using the same existing threads here, if @pkml3 does not mind keeping these threads open well into 2023.
Question 29 : Three new exclusive behind the scenes? Are they referring to their own made up story or to the original script? Nar it is just they have released three new BTS during the fan meet. They released lots of BTS didn’t they!? When I thought they have not more, there is always more.
The three extra BTS:
1. DFQC was jealous of CH in mortal realm – However, both DFQC and CH didn’t want Orchid at the end.
2. DFQC and Xilan Goddess were crying on the bridge. Y
3. Xilan Goddess kissed DFQC Taisu – Esther Yu was asking why Dylan kissed so deeply. He was meant to be processed and near death.

When we watched it it is with all the background music and special CGI. These actors just had blue screens and with a whole crew watching! Sometimes I don’t type that well during a presentation. And that is just typing not kissing lollol. Professional is professional after all.

Yes, I marvel at them acting so emotionally, so professionally, when the surroundings just don’t help in generating the right mood at all!
I should look for the BTS with Chang Heng and DFQC, or DFQC and Shang Que I get the impression that they like to pretend to gang up on Esther for fun. 😂

I know right. Amazing. Despite it is in front of the blue screens, I think the mood they generated built up shows their unwillingness to get into that unfortunate situation but still have to anyway for Orchid to live. It certainly contributed to the tears I had when DFQC’s soul was burnt and disappeared later.
@Viva, I was rewatching the more emotional scenes of Episode 28, when DFQC suffered so much but was unwilling to let Fairy Orchid suffer, and felt the raw emotions. They were so good. I was wondering how much of the real ‘surroundings’ they had and where the CG surroundings started.
Anyway, I wanted to stand and applaud all those emotional scenes and the wonderful dialogue. The best couple communication dialogue I’ve come across, which is applicable for our modern life, and it came from a Chinese period drama LOL.
