2D1N: New Member

We have a new member joining the team, @nrllee.

His name is Yoo SeonHo. YOO SeonHo. He’s going to be the new maknae.

I can imagine the screeching and howling coming from the fan-ville of that “Good Boy”.

I’m still enjoying this show. When I’m tired from work, it’s a relief to know that Yeon Jung Joon, Kim Jong Min, Moon Se Yoon, Dindin and Na InWoo had it worse at their day job…no, their two-days-one-night job.

I’m glad PD Lee isn’t molly-coddling the cast like that previous PD Bang. When I remember the stupid doll mascot, the color-coding, and the Pegasus work horse introduced during her reign, I just cringe. She catered to the tastes of the moppets of Gen Z. You can’t convince me otherwise.

  1. I haven’t been following for a while now but did read the news about the new maknae. Does that mean Ravi won’t come back? 😢. I will start watching again just to see how the new guy slots in. The first ep when a new member appears is usually good viewing. InWoo seems to be getting more gigs (movie and drama) because of the increased exposure that 2D1N brings with it. I am happy for him.

  2. he is one of the Queen’s sons in the drama Under The Queen’s Umbrella.

  3. 😂😂😂Tonight’s the night Yoo SeonHo gets introduced. Trust IW to chase him around in one big circle and the others just saunter on only to have both of them double back to where they are and he’s stopped by MSY. Where’s DinDin though? Here’s the trailer for tonight’s ep

  4. I heard he had Covid, @nrllee.

    So it’s today?

  5. @packmule3. I think it is tonight. I won’t get to watch it till tomorrow when the subs come out.

  6. I am watching old eps leading up to the new member ep. Oh my goodness, the minus one winter trip was hilarious. The plot twist at the end after the “win” in the sleep indoors or outdoors was something else. Poor DinDin. SeYoon thought he was doing him a favour 😂😂😂. I felt for JongMin having to do all those steps in his suit to control his anger. 😂😂😂. And the mudfish fishing was an eye opener. Thoroughly enjoyed the ep.

  7. The Maknae seems to have slotted in well. They are having the OnDal tour 😂. InWoo filmed a lot of RWTMR on the set. So far we find out that SeonHo likes to eat and exercise (he’s good at ball games so I guess it means he’s got good eye hand coordination?). SH laughs readily and seems to have the enthusiasm of IW. Not sure how smart or cunning he is. Ravi was street smart and savvy. They didn’t do much so far in last week’s ep. Tonight’s ep should be interesting. Won’t get to watch it till Monday with subs.

  8. I couldn’t stop laughing at the dinner game where they had to use their feet for different activities 😂😂😂. The socks. The funniest was the donut eating. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard on 2D1N. @packmule3 You’re right that this PD is a lot more savage…it makes for great entertainment for us at their expense. 😂😂😂. The new member SeonHo has been great. He’s cheeky and isn’t afraid to give as good as he gets. A great addition to the cast.

  9. I’m on it, @nrllee.

Aha! I think you nailed it. It’s much more entertaining when we laugh AT THEIR EXPENSE. The entertainer is someone willing to be a clown and lose his pretty boy persona.

That’s why Junho and JungMin in Season 3 were a great duo.

Yes. I like this PD a lot more than that PD Bang. She made the show so dull and insipid with her cutesy doll, soft games, and image curating of her “star” actor. The show lost its edge.

  10. @nrllee,

I got a headache from laughing at the wacky donut 🍩 race. I agree their failures were too funny to watch.

Moon SeYoon was at the donut station so long he had an existential crisis: “What am I doing here, Director?” 😂😂😂

I’d like to see that assistant PD who graduated from SNU. He was in charge of the math game.

Yes. SeonHo is mischievous. But I was glad to see Inwoo retaliating by throwing his sock away. Inwoo pointed out that SeonHo started it. 🙂 He isn’t a pushover then.

  11. Also, the PD’s choice of background music was on point.

“O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana of Carl Orff

  12. I didn’t pay much attention to the background music. I was laughing so hard. JongMin couldn’t even get past the first stage and keep his feet in the icy water. 😂😂😂.

You can tell the difference between SeonHo and IW straightaway. SeonHo can play dirty without being pushed to. IW will only think to do so in retaliation. SeonHo spent the time in the OnDal village just shadowing JungHoon and making sure the blue flag stayed in those containers. IW? Why was he wasting his time hiding? 😂😂😂. He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. DinDin’s manager ChanSong was cute. He looked so small standing beside IW 😂😂. I was a bit grossed out by the spitting gum archery. Next week we get the full cast so it should be a blast. The Christmas special. Not sure if I will get to watch it till much later in the week. This Christmas weekend is looking extremely busy.

  13. Same here. My husband came down to the study to check on me. He could hear me laughing non-stop and became curious.

Moon SeYoon went to “help” JongMin by pushing down on his feet. That must’ve been torture.

Dindin and SeonHo can be the “trash” or “sseurreki” brothers; they’re naughty and can definitely play dirty.

It was kind of Inwoo to go back and teach him how to put on the socks. (Which reminds me. Do you know the trendy slippers to give this Christmas? The bubble slippers. They made of Crocs material shaped into balls. Just go on Amazon.)

I think the staff went easy on Dindin’s manager. Like the butt pushing game. The 2D1N staff didn’t bump him hard. Same with the balloon game. I don’t think the Post-Its were stuck hard on the balloon.

But it was a good idea to let his manager stand in his place. Doubt they had time to find a replacement willing to put up with games.

  14. @packmule3 you made me Google bubble slippers/slides 😂😂😂. I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing them. I thought Crocs had a resurgence lately? Daughter dear bought a pair for herself. That’s how I figure out what’s on trend, by my daughter’s fashion choices 😂😂😂. Me I am all for understated elegance and style. Team Cambridge (or now HRHs Prince and Princess of Wales) all the way. I am waiting for Kate to shine at her Christmas special concert.

  15. Aww…they all won awards. Here’s IW winning the rookie of the year award KBS. 😂😂😂. When I saw them I thought about poor JongMin having to do all those exercises in the mountain dressed in his tuxedo. Glad they all showed up together in support of each other.

  16. Santa village episode went back to their roots of meeting the locals and “helping” (giving them gifts). Poor SeonHo was Rudolf and had to piggyback SeonHo to deliver the gifts. 😂😂😂. The sleep game with the broomsticks was a tad rude. 😂😂😂. I can’t imagine the lady PD thinking it up. It had to be a man who thought of that. 😂😂😂. JH kept falling over in the end. Just like soccer when they fake dives to get a penalty 😂😂😂. Except I think he was genuinely exhausted.

  17. O no. Ravi’s in trouble. Why did he need fake health records? I thought he had known mental health issues which would probably have afforded him the same exemption? Or maybe I am naive to assume so.

    https://www.allkpop.com/article/2023/01/vixxs-ravi-named-an-alleged-customer-of-a-broker-organization-currently-under-investigation-for-faking-health-records-for-young-men-to-receive-military-service-exemption

  18. I watched 2D1N too. Yoo Seon Ho seems to fit in well and is comfortable with the members. He learns to play dirty fast but with a tad of innocence (the roll the blanket game) and oh he’s got a huge appetite (3 bowls of rice). I think Moon Se Yoon would love to train him up to eat even more. He gets along so well with Na In Woo and they both enjoy playing the acrostic poem game so much that it became a torture for Moon Se Yoon. I definitely laughed much more with the new PD and this new member.

  19. Oh no. I wish he didn’t do that, @nrllee.

Sometimes I don’t get why these pop idols try to avoid conscription when supposedly their training to become entertainers are physically exhausting and mentally taxing. If high school graduates can do it, then they can do it, too.

Or do they fear they’re going to be bullied while in service?

It didn’t enter my sons’ heads to try out for any of the military academies e.g., Navy, Air Force, although a few of their cousins and friends did. But if ever there was a call to defend this country from attacks or invasions, I don’t see them shirking from their obligation. It would be a dishonor and disgrace to their ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary and Civil wars, WW2, the Vietnam War…

That’s how I — as an outsider — see these SK military conscriptions. People died to protect their country. About 170,000 died in the Korean War, of which 36,000 were Americans.

Is an 18-month service really that hard? Just do it.

  20. I laughed when SeonHo ran away with the kettle, thinking he could delay Kim Jong Min. Jong Min just said “What a fool!” then started to pour SeonHo’s hot coffee into his. 😂😂

To me, in a comedy show, somebody has to play dirty and get his comeuppance in a funny way. Like Tom and Jerry. Or Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner.

Season 3 was so funny because Kim Junho wasn’t afraid to be trashy…for laughs. He and Kim Jong Min sabotaged each other, and the games, so the audience was always laughing at their crazy antics and just deserts.

  21. Yes Season 3 was the best! Kim Junho always has mischief up his sleeve and he knows how to make the audience laugh. I remember the episode when Han Hyo Joo was the guest, the members were all treating her like a princess but Kim Junho went the opposite way played tricks on her and sabotaging her in games. It was so funny watching Kim Junho, his dumb little evil tricks and his Tom and Jerry style banter with Kim Jung Min. It has been a long while since I laughed out loud after Kim Junho left the show.

I think Yoo Seonho is a good addition to the show. Weekend is almost here, am looking forward to the new episode.

  22. Yes YSH is a good addition to the cast. He settled in pretty much straight up which is a credit to him. I am behind 1 ep I think. The Santa train ep was the last one I watched.

@packmule3 I don’t understand why Ravi did that either. Possibly because he was so scared of the military that he needed the assurance (from the faked documents about him having epilepsy?) that he would end up in a desk job rather than active service? He will have to live with the ignominy now.

  23. Just watched the latest episode. They kept calling IW “Khondae”? Which is equivalent to saying someone is old fashioned or backward thinking. Why did SH try to run out with the kettle? He’s a funny one. That river dive must’ve been freezing cold. 😂😂😂. The boys are playing together well and this PD is making the eps very interesting – at least the games are anyway.

  24. “Khondae” according to Viki is “boomer.” 😂 Inwoo is an old soul; he acts like a

I like that Moon SeYoon feels guilty whenever he tries to sabotage Inwoo. His conscience won’t allow him to play dirty on a guy who’s unfailingly kind to him. It began on an earlier trip. Instead of ordering for himself, Na Inwoo thoughtfully ordered food for MSY and left it for him to eat.

    So it’s an interesting dynamics.

As for SeonHo 😂😂 he tried to hide the kettle so Kim Jongmin wouldn’t have hot water for his ICED (literally) coffee. It backfired on him because KJM took his hot coffee and poured it into his glass.

Not very bright that SeonHo kid. But I like that he livens up the games with his mischief.

In a previous episode, the one with the socks game, he couldn’t put on his sock till InWoo came back and taught him how. But it was Inwoo whom he tried to sabotage earlier by stealing his sock. Tsk tsk tsk. 😂
