  1. Old American Lady (OAL)

Hi BOD friend. I’ll be setting my alarm and looking forward to our rewatch. I saw a very handsome photo of abearded Hyun Bin for his new movie. Aside from his 2onderful visuals, he is a talented actor and Alhambra shows his ability to play y a complex role.

On a happy note, my husband hadhis surgery yesterday. Our wonderful surgeon worked through very bailiff threatening complications c actions to save my husband’s life. This is the case of an Egyptian Muslim saving the life e of an American Jew. If only the rest of the world would follow. I am so grateful.

Sen Dr ING you all relieved and happy thoughts.

PS, Am watching the very realistic The Interest of Love with YYS(redeeming himself) and Moon GA Young(showing complex acting chops). Sending recommendations. Also catching Dinner Mate on Amazon. It is quite engaging.

  2. That’s excellent news, @OAL!!! I’m glad to hear that your husband’s surgery went well. Let’s continue praying for him.

And hugs to you too @OAL. You’ve been brave and resilient through this ordeal. Hang in there!

  3. That’s wonderful news indeed @OAL. 🥰

Thank you for the update and yes, prayers will continue for you and your hubby. 🙏🏼

  4. Old American Lady (OAL)

Thank you @packmule3, You and the wonderful people at BOD have been the source of respite in my life. You make me feel like I am still a human being. Your support has brought a lot of welcome cheer that is helping to get us through this. I think that I don’t only speak for myself but this blog is a very wonderful place to help us get through life’s many bumps in the road and unforseen detours
I am so happy this place exists.

  5. Old American Lady (OAL)

Thank you @agdr03. Prayers help so much and I do believe that they are heard.🙏

  6. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Thanks @pkml3!

What great news @OAL!! We’ll keep you and your husband in prayer for a speedy and smooth recovery.

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow at our Rewatch Party!

  7. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Growing Beautifully, I miss speaking to you and the wonderful BOD friends.this is such a great treat. Thank you so much!

  8. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thank you too @OAL for being with us. It’s so much more fun watching a drama, when chatting with you and any others who can join us. I look forward to the Rewatch every week, as the time I’ll meet my friends and we’ll always be having something to say, read and discover together. 🙂

  9. Dearest @AOL. I am glad your husband made it through his surgery. It is always so difficult to wait through even the most benign surgeries even in the most skilled hands.

Hope to join you tomorrow. My husband and I just visited his sister and are sitting in the airport on the first leg of the journey which will end, if all goes well, in another 11 hours ( we have already been in transit for 2.5 hours).

  10. Dear @AOL so good to hear your positive news re your husband’s surgery. “…In sickness and in health” is so much a necessary part of the marriage contract.

I plan to watch MOTA tomorrow morning but don’t know how to join in the comments while watching. Do I need a special link to do so?

  11. Old American Lady (OAL)

Safe travels @salted dust.May the rest of your journey be easy. Connections can be tricky so I hope they are smooth.

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @salteddust, we missed you. What a long wait in the airport. I trust that you’re now well on the way home and that you’ll be well rested. We hope to see you today!!

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Lootie Lyn, what we do with our Rewatch is that we either have a laptop or computer on which we can stream/play the episode on one side, while we open up this Rewatch page on the other side. So we can watch more or less, as we type or read comments. Some of us may use 2 devices… one to watch on, the other to comment on.

I prefer to check email to know when more comments are in, so I keep refreshing the email page and use the REPLY option there to write to a specific person. The other way is to just keep refreshing this page on BOD to see new comments at the bottom.

Just jump in and comment at any time, (naming the person you’re writing to helps, so they know you’re responding to them). I sometimes pause my video in order to read and type, so not everyone is totally in sync during the rewatching, but it does not matter. We wait for each other to finish but we can come and go if we need to. No stress.

Just come along and try it with us. 🙂

  14. Nice news @AOL. I wish you the better for you and husband.

I come back later for the rewatch. Set the clock right now.
I don’t remember well this episode, but its conclusion is a key cliffhanger.

  15. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE, please note the breaks we’ll take from Rewatches on March 11th and April 8th.

See you in a bit more than 3.5 hours time!!

  16. Hi @GB, thanks for the tutorial. I can watch on Netflix on TV and use my IPad for comments then. Okay, am 15 minutes away!

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

See you soon @Lootie Lyn (I’ll call you @LL for short!)

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Okay… it’s time to start the Party!! Let’s go.

  19. here!

  20. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Su Jin wakes up to find that Hyung Suk had never gone to sleep and is not in the apartment. She seems to have a premonition. Even before going to bed, in the last episode she’d been unhappy and worried after speaking of Jin Wu to HS.

  21. The wife… isn’t she has an sex affair with someone else ? but we don’t know who ??

  22. Old American Lady (OAL)

    Thanks @GB. Now warching

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @WE!

Su Jin recalls her interactions with both HS and JW. We get glimpses of her backstory. It’s all a mish-mash in non-chronological order, reflecting the sate of her mind.

Amazing how SJJ can intersperse the action like this.

  24. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @OAL! Glad you’re here.

From the little we see of Hyung Suk’s angry interaction with his father, Prof Cha, … where he says he’d never return to his father : “Who would even think that you’re actually my father? Only when Jin Wu dies …” we get the idea that JW is preferred by Cha and HS is jealous.

JW believed that it was out of revenge for this that HS took SJ away from him.

  25. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Su Jin had an affair with HS or HS deliberately seduced her to take her away from JW. We are not sure of the details, but that’s what JW believes. He says they betrayed him.

  26. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

While Su Jin is about to face the living nightmare of the death of her husband, Grandma has a nightmare that all their money has been withdrawn from Hee Ju’s account. She fears that they had been conned. Both Su Jin and Grandma panic over the fear of loss.

But how to compare the object of their desires? A husband or a load of money? Both had links to Jin Wu (in fact everyone and thing in this show is linked to JW). Su Jin and HS had betrayed Jin Wu in that first divorce and their marriage. Maybe her fears that JW would hurt HS arise from her guilt and feeling that she deserved to be punished.

With HJ and the money, the huge sum had come too easily to HJ, so that it felt that it did not belong to her and might disappear. However it had been JW who was disingenuous, while HJ always remained honest and sincere. It was actually true that to an extent, HJ had been conned. If anything more than the 10 billion should have been hers, however unlike other females, she was not greedy.

  27. @GB: this kind of Montage is quite easy to do, because it’s a closed time duration.
But what is crazy is when SJJ does long duration time restructuration. Here really, it looks like difficult. Also in MOTA there is many scenes break with suspens (we’ll see that in later episodes).

  28. Where are you all at now?

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @Feifei (@FF for short!)
I’m at 9:50 now. But you don’t have to rush. Just jump in with comments on any part up to 9.50.

  30. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

While one family is worried sick, Hee Ju’s family is relieved and rejoicing. HJ shares her good fortune with her two resident hostel guests.

She’s also at leisure to buy beautiful flowers and decorate the guitar workshop. It’s bright and cheeful. The music here is sweet. Quite rare to get this kind of tone in the rest of the show!!!

  31. damn I was sleeping and wake up by the clock. now my eyes are a bit blurry.

@GB, W2 ep15, in this episode I made a double-montage with additionnal sub-flashback, wahaha. Note sure about how to format the additional inserts, or if I should do them in the montage. but it was more clear to have the insert in the sub-scene.
Later also, a reverse time flashback montage.

But I don’t do the whole episodes organisation with voice-over, etc. Beside, I’m not sure the story would be understandable. When I proofread W s1 screenplay, honestly, just alone, it’s not really understadable. It’s great on screen, otherwhise too difficult as a reading.

  32. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, wish I could watch your screenplay rather than read it!!

  33. @GB, yes I like the music here too. HJ is so thrifty, she only allowed herself to splurge on some flowers despite having 10B won.

I have a question on Su Jin, I thought she was on her way to Seville when she met Jin Woo at the train station and she is back in Granada within a day? Is her trip to Seville a day trip or was I mistaken?

  34. This MOTA episode start with a lot of extra-scenes, about other people around jin woo, etc. SJJ take her time here.
Time used also to create implication for the heroin, to enter jin woo life (and past life).

  35. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I googled it… seems Seville is more than 2 hours away by train. It’s possible to be a day trip, I guess.

  36. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I still find it hectic, despite SJJ giving more time…

HJ is cheerful and willing to help with translation, not wanting to be paid… JW notes that she seems like a different person. No longer cringing or calculating. Having money to pay off the mortgage with enough to spare so that she did not need to work had made her feel free and generous. Something that JW had not encountered with his wives??

  37. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

They go to Cha’s apartment. Inadvertently HJ finds herself entering JW’s personal life, finding out more about his past and meeting his ex-wife and her sister.

They are confronted with stairs again. It will be an uphill task for JW.

JW mentions HS: “… My wife, I mean his wife and her sister are here. They were on a family trip, but he was found dead.”
He made a slip and called Su Jin his wife, or rather the dead man’s wife. Somewhere at the back of his mind, he never wanted to let SJ go, especially not to HS.

  38. Hello feifei and AOL also.
Sorry I came in a hurry, not well wake up. 😉

@GB: it’s still the closest thing of a watching. ;-). Thanks to photo-montage in the 13 first episode. And even later, have a picture instead of characters name and way the text is made (with additionnal colors) makes it easy to read. Also writring style is the most simple as possible (short sentence no difficult words anyway I can’t do difficult words because Im not enough good in english). More the kind of style make as a way you forget you are reading. Too much good writing can be a problem as it don’t make forget the words but bring attention to it.

Nice scenes with the wife. I like this character, the actress is nice and competent.
But in a SJJ fantasy drama, it still make a lot of extra content.

  39. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Su Jin wakes up and has an outburst, demanding to know what JW had said to HS that HS could end up dead. She accuses him of wanting HS dead. He’s silent because that was actually true.

SJ has demonstrated some good intuition. She’d felt that HS would be in danger and he was, and she felt JW was responsible, and he was.

  40. Ah here, the kind of small thing you don’t think about… a scene with park shin hye on the balcony. She do nothing, just emotion. she think back to something, but no flashback, just jin woo voice over. I guess to think about making that is a reflex for SJJ. Experience. Else the idea don’t jump in the mind.

  41. Hi WE, heee you came in a hurry while I came late 😉

  42. Jin woo look at the corpse.
One fast flash: the sword blow.

  43. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

JW has a very negative view of marriage. He’d been burnt twice. HJ would be the one to maybe change his mind.

  44. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, the simple balcony scene seems to do nothing more than remind us that JW had said that his first marriage failed because his best friend and his wife betrayed him. It shows that HJ is putting more disparate facts together and getting to know JW and the situation he is in.

She’s one who feels for others easily, and is already on JW’s side because he had given her the whole 10B won. Now this info about his failed marriage(s) also starts to affect the way she regards him.

  45. half episode and not much, just the normal aftershock for a dead one.

Ah here: Jin woo in the restaurant terace: before he was in the mortuary, but… we didn’t see all ? we have a flashback where he see the guy saying the cause of the death.

He look at a guy playing guitar. he play memories of alhambra ?

  46. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

The investigation into the death starts. The lack of injuries makes it the most mysterious death. All hangs on Prof Cha’s decision on whether to have an autopsy or not.

  47. the guitar technique is tremolo. the problem when using it is to make something very regular with all fingers. flameco thing.

  48. crime scene.. fast flash of sword blows.
put the lens on, and… just before no one on the bench but then…
    he see the body!!
    + flashback voice-over. wwwah

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Yes, the guitar guy was playing Memories of Alhambra. The live version as opposed to the AR version. This gets JW thinking.

JW heard the doc say that there was so much loss of blood which could not be explained. But that was in reality… he decides to investigate in AR version of reality. The live version and the AR version, which is the real reality in which HS died.

  50. flash voice over jump into real flashback, then coming back to flash voice over, introducing another flashback. damn, I take notes!! 🙂
    The very violent sword blows.
A girl with her dog, look at jin woo (“this guy is scary”)

  51. Ahhh, now!!!!
Ok the second half of the episode purpose is: to make understand jin-woo there is a bug, and the dead comeback to life, and it’s serious!! no dead anymore, really dangerous in the game… Sooo.. the cliffhanger of the episode will work well. 🙂

  52. JW sees HS sitting on the bench in blood when he logs in again, it is as if the game was paused and the duel has not ended.

  53. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

In the game JW can still see a dead HS, terribly bloody. But he is only a virtual rendition of HS.

The game and reality had merged so that real wounds were inflicted invisibly and real blood got drained away. This is a serious bug.

He recalls how SJ had accused him of wanting HS dead. And how he’d called HS a traitor to provoke his attack. He’d arrogantly used the issue of Prof Cha and SJ to provoke the attack, and HS had ended up really dead.

Suddenly HS as an enemy character is back to fight. The other bug is that an enemy once killed does not remain dead.

  54. Investigation about the game.. of course… it needs a point when jin-woo understand “science can’t explain that”. 🙂

  55. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I’m guessing that it was one of the bugs in the game that dead enemies did not stay dead. By rights, in a game, that character should no longer appear.

  56. the wanabe-boyfriend jalousy.
very good idea: jin woo come at the end of the phone call. I remember another scene where he surprise her like that (she’s looking at photo of him, lololol, the girl having interest in him and can’t hide it, so embarassing)

  57. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I remember how chilling it was to see the dead enemy up and risen all bloody to kill JW again. What a nightmare… again and again.

JW had predicted magic and big bucks but he’s confronted with a deadly nightmare.

  58. @GB, yeah, he should be happy he still get magic. dark magic. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  59. @GB, HS has changed from a player to be an enemy NPC when Zino killed him. I think that is the bug. A player when killed becomes an NPC enemy or ally.

  60. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE in this episode there are 2 scenes of JW coming in on HJ suddenly and both times something is going on, on her phone concerning JW LOL.

  61. Jin woo is still playing her a lot, while she’s the pure and sincere girl. kind of a difference in the inner goal. He even push her out of the room. then close it. booh. Booooooh. cold and bad guy !! 🙂

  62. @WE, the voice flash and the real flash back makes it confusing and difficult to make notes. But that is also the beauty of MOTA.

  63. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes that’s the bug, but the worst bug was that real people start to feel real pain over virtual stabbings and slashings. Weirdly, they can lose real blood in an AR environment.

  64. Old American Lady (OAL)

@GB, I am not keeping up because I’m simultaneously texting with my husband from the hospital. Good thing is that I’m reading the comments. The granny is a hoot. I think that her computer wouldn’t be powerful enough for his purposes.

  65. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @WE
HJ is very trusting over letting JW use her phone. He warns her not to let anyone just use her phone. Her trust seems to bother him. That’s his guilt getting to him.
JW: “Don’t trust me too much. I’m not as decent as you think. I’m afraid that you will hate me someday.”

  66. prelap: train station employe, scene transition jump to there, then the toilet. and quickly the phone call, then flashback of the brother. all that very fast. then some other things and flashback. But I was wrong because the train station is also flashback. in fact he’s still in the brother room. MOTA mess begin. lolol!!

  67. JW is still the sly one, lying and acting to obtain information from HJ. And HJ still falls for it.

@WE yes BLACK magic is the perfect description.

  68. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @OAL, how’s your husband doing?

Good that you can read the comments!

  69. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, in the brother’s room, he’s remembering ad hoc bits of information as he investigates whether Se Ju had been running from someone or not. The idea has been planted into his mind, and he starts to investigate with that thought.

  70. ah, now he starts to be a little kind with her. the gaze he have here… something happens. touching. not too much.

  71. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, all this time, it’s friend Sang Beom and JW himself who’s been warning HJ to not be too trusting, but other than that, HJ can’t see any reason for distrust, because she has no clue she’s been duped.

  72. On the phone with the “I solve any of your problem” guy. while going on the stairs.
    Now the cliffhanger scene soon.

  73. but there is more screentime to wait, so just make a phone call with oh sung-moo. ahaha.

  74. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, HJ’s childlike trust finds it’s way into JW’s heart. She’s different from most people he meets.

  75. without mercy this guy “my son caused problems to me until the end”.

  76. ok, lightning storm… music..
    now….!!!!
I think there is a detail in this scene.. he don’t put the lens ??

  77. surprised but he don’t panic. just will check on phone if it’s a bug with the geek.

  78. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE That short snippet of conversation with Cha starts to show what kind of person he is. He has a poor opinion and distrust of ‘that woman’ (Su Jin?) saying that she’s probably delighted by the news, punching numbers into her calculator… waiting for the money from her dead husband.

He also has a poor opinion of his own son, calling him a fool.

Nothing loving or warm about this father.

  79. no doubt here: it’s done in a way we know he really feel the wounds.
However, it’s not clear about the lens. Did I missed the moment when we see he don’t wear them?

  80. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, he does not have the lens on. Scary lightning and thunder… is HS knocking on his door? That’s sooooo scary!!!

He does not know that he’ll feel the pain when HS strikes.

  81. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, it’s correct that he never put them on, but somehow he finds that he can summon the sword and he tries to defend himself. That’s part of the bug too.

  82. Ahh it’s made in a way to scary her while she go on the stair. Park shin hye very good acting.
However, the writer trap us, because here the fall is in one go. In truth, he break his legs on the ramp (why he survive).

  83. I can’t find the shot where we see he don’t wear the lens. Is it told in a flashback in the next episode ?

  84. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, we see him falling past HJ but don’t hear him banging into the banisters to break his leg. Still it’s possible as it happened too fast.

Poor HJ does not know whether to go up or look down.

  85. First time I saw this fall “oh boy, no one can survive this”.

  86. This professor Cha actor gives me the creeps, he is always the bad guy in the drama. Convincing bad guy.

  87. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I think it’s in the next episode that we see the lens is still in the case… something like that. That’s what makes seeing HS and being able to feel pain and summon the sword soooo scary. It’s impossible!!! But it happened. That’s some great programming that Se Ju did.

  88. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, is that so? Does the actor who play Cha always play a bad guy? He has the right look for one, I guess.

  89. It’s a virtual game, so it’s very strange that he can push him over the banister. In real, it’s like Jin woo jump himself?!

  90. The next episode is so good. the whole scene in the hospital and parking lot. damn.

  91. @GB, yes he always play bad guys. Except in “taxi driver” but here too, too gray to be really a good one. He pay for a private prison, and lot of bad thing about revenge.

  92. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I only recall that HJ became a human shield to protect JW from HS in the next episode. But she had no clue what she was doing.

  93. The rain and the guitar music (the MOTA piece) is so scary. It has been raining alot in the area that I live in, sometimes when I look at the rain I think of MOTA.

Poor JW, now he feels the pain when he’s being slashed. HS must have felt the same intense pain whe JW slashed him.

JW failed to get the game developer guy to witness HS’ appearance as an NPC in the game.

Oh the stairs looks so ominous! One feels so uneasy watching JW leans over it.

  94. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I think that’s about the last we see of the stairs LOL. It has starred in a drama, and done its role well. 😂

  95. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I assume you know of the schedule for the rewatch. We’re still on for the next few weeks until 11 March.

  96. This drama I can watch a few more times because each time I discover things that I missed out during previous watch.

  97. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I guess we’ve all come to the end of the episode? Thanks for a fun Rewatch, everyone. You can keep adding comments here after this. We still come back to read comments and reply even way after our party.

  98. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, that’s true. I really like shows like this, where there are lots of hidden nuggets/Easter eggs to discover. But we have to watch slowly to notice them.

  99. @GB, yes, the schedule, I saw. thanks.

@feifei, yes easy to miss something. More here, the secondary characters sometimes talk about things we don’t really know, and it makes more sens while rewatching.
For example here, Jin woo talk about marco. When marco name was lost in a previous dialogue of another character in another episode.

  100. Bye all, have a great weekend.

@GB, yes will re-visit if I have more to say about this episode.

  101. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bye @FF and everyone, see you next week!

  102. @WE, have forgotten about Marco. And then I realized Marco is the same actor in Alchemy of Soul Lee Jae Wook. I couldn’t even recognize him here.

  103. Bye bye, see you soon !!

  104. Old American Lady (OAL)

The beauty of this drama is how reality and virtual reality are mixed. It seems like there is n9 longer a need to wear the lemons. Yikes. Also, the fact that there are bugs, creates problems in the real and virtual world. This show is a great mind game. There are lots of innocent bystanders too. And the brother’s absence is the tip of the iceberg. I think the average k drama viewer would have issues with this drama because it is so high concept. It feels real but it is a Sci fi fantasy. Lots to confuse the viewer. It reminds me of movies like Inception.

Going back to texting with my husband. He’s three days out of major surgery and is texting and being visited by physical therapists. I am happily amazed. Thanks for your kind wishes.

  105. Scene where HJ disarms JW a bit (where he regretfully warns her that she might end up hating him ) seems intended to cast JW more sympathetically in our minds so that the ending fall is more even impactful. I remember my stunned reaction to JW’s fall when I first watched MOTA.

    Have a great weekend, all!

  106. I re-visited episode 2 and confirmed that Su Jin and sister were making a day trip to Seville. They will return to Granada in the evening.

@Lootie Lyn, I was shocked too on my first watch to see JW fall from 6 storey. It explains why JW was limping in the flash forward towards the end of episode 1.

  107. Sorry I missed this. I overslept after a very long travel day which ended with an hour sitting at the gate in the plane waiting for the pilot (!) who when he joined us says over the loud speaker, “I don’t know where to start” (ha ha). Apparently he was supposed to fly a different plane to a different airport and got reassigned to our plane. I have not watched this so I will watch and catch up and join you next Saturday. Take care.

  108. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @salteddust, no problem. You can still come by here or any of the MOTA threads and leave a comment. Bitches who like myself have check marked the ‘Notify me…’ button below will get notifications each time someone posts something, and I’ll come by to read.

I’d be worried if my pilot said he didn’t know where to start!!! After a stint with ‘Flight to You’, and having watched the preparations that pilots make before they even enter the cockpit, and then when in the cockpit before they take off, I’d like the pilot to know exactly where to start!

I trust you will have a good rest. 🙂

  109. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @LL (Lootie Lyn) I trust you had a good time rewatching the episode.

The usual ploy of being self-deprecating usually works with soft characters like Hee Ju and possibly some viewers. A hard-nosed bitch is wary because we know he’s actually speaking the truth!!

I’d not expect him to be able to survive a fall like that. The knocking into the banisters and then the table on the ground floor breaking his fall a bit, saved him.

We can see that Hee Ju is already well on her way to falling in love with JW. That self-conscious smile when he warned her not to just let anyone have her phone seemed to say that she liked how he was concerned over her.

@OAL, I know on my first watch, I was confused.

High concept? Would that be the idea that virtual and real worlds can merge and that the virtual becomes more real than the real?

When JW first spoke of magic, he didn’t know that there was going to be real unexplainable magic taking place. Augmented reality was going to control the real world. It reminds me of early robot shows where the fear of robots was that they’d take over and make slaves out of humans. Thankfully Isaac Asimov addressed that in his robots series, so we could have a whole bunch of robot stories with more interesting scenarios.

I believe your husband must be bored, since he’s texting so much. It sounds like he’s on the road to recovery! 🙏

@GrowingBeautifully, My husband is enduring the effects of the anesthesia. Last night he texted because he wasn’t sure if it was day or night. He had some delirium that short reply texts put in order. Today he was totally oriented to time and place. My physician cousin informed me that what my husband was experiencing jscommonand that because he was on the operating table and anesthetized for more than ten hours, his side effects(mostly fatigue) would persist for weeks. Nevertheless, the good news is that he ison the mend and, as I write this he is being stepped down from the ICU to a regular room. Everybody’s prayers have helped immmensely and are being positively answered. Thank you all.

Now my job is to facilitate my husband’s recovery. I can do this, with everyone’s kind wishes and a good dose of K Drama for respite. Am looking forward to going back to watching,Glory, Dinner Mate(on Amazon with the wonderful Song Seung Heon and Seo Ji-Hye), Crash Course In Romance, The Interest of Love and Unlock My Boss.I started all of them but put them on hold so I’ll be in catch up mode while My husband is in the hospital and in rehab. These dramas serve as my respite. They are great for temporarily taking my mind off the important things in life. The good thing is that with streaming we have the ability to return to the part where we left. This keeps one7 priorities in order.

@OAL, ah I didn’t know that about anesthesia. Fatigue for weeks sounds like a long time to have the side effects. That’s good news that he’s coming out of ICU. Yes, we’ll keep praying for you both.

It’s so good to have dramas to turn to when killing time, isn’t it? I’m a bit stuck at the moment since I’m entering a super busy period and don’t want to start a new series, but nothing short I’ve tried so far is holding my attention. I may move on to movies or just go back to old Twilight Zone episodes or something LOL.

  113. Thinking of you and your husband @OAL! I wondered how you were doing. Sending prayers for your husband’s recovery and strengthening at this stage.

I can give ‘Crash Course in Romance’ a big fat yes… had problems with Viki so watched a few episodes and am hooked. This is a show that gets better and better. A unlikeable but ‘more likeable when you understand him’ male lead – a plucky heroine – scary helicopter Mums – a very good younger cast … a mystery …and very clever story telling that feels fresh!

  114. Happy to hear that your husband is making progress @AOL.
I too have learned to use K dramas as stress reducers and they are truly a Godsend! Plus I gain knowledge as well and now know more about Korea and it’s culture than would ever have imagined.
    Looking forward to Ep. 5.

Hi @Lootie Lyn. Love learning about K culture and picking up words and expressions. Would love to know the formal and informal language differences.whe my husband stabilizes I am going to take a Hangul course. If all is well I’ll feup my passport and take a trip to Seoul, Busan and Jeju Island. If I can:t do it, there are local Korean communities close by that are full of food stores. Restaurants, book stores, and hanbock places. There are even big multistory spas(I wonder if they have hard boiled eggs). The K towns are in Manhattan, Queen’s, Long Island, Palisades Park, Leonia and Forty Lee, New Jersey. I a Tually bought a tee shirt that I wear that says “You had me at Anneyong”. So if I can’t do my bucket list, I have alternatives(not quite the same but fun nonetheless). And the Korea Society gives courses. Stuff to look forward to.

  116. Hi@AOL I too have a trip to Korea at the top of my bucket list! I live in a more provincial part of US so will have to visit some of the places you mention if the travel fairy doesn’t grant my first wish. Would love to try the spa. Wonder if we would wear those towel like “hats” there and the 2 piece outfits that look like pj’s?
