What Are We Watching in March 2024?

Listen! Do you hear that sound?

200w.gif ?cid=6c09b9520n32lo8rgvvs8g6v72r28gel1h3af1fcaorxhpe1&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=200w. gif&ct=g

That’s the “giant sucking sound” of kdrama viewers being swept into this juggernaut of a drama, “Queen of Tears.”

“Queen of Tears”

This seems to be a reverse-Cinderella story. The female lead is royalty while the male lead is the Cinderella-man. Their marital life isn’t the happily-ever-after ending they expected. But their love gets a second chance when they’re forced to face challenges together.

This krama is written by Park JiEun, the same lady who did “Crash Landing on You” (2019-2020) and “My Love From the Stars” (2013). There are two directors listed on mydramalist: Kim Hee Won (“Little Women”) and Jang Young Woo (“Bulgasal”). I’ll be watching the directors for sure.

Starring: Kim SooHyun, Kim JiWon (“My Liberation Notes”)
Episodes: 16
Start Date: Sat, March 9
Airs on Saturday and Sunday
Where to Watch it: Netflix
Network: tvN

That’s all I’m interested in checking out this month since I’ll be traveling again. I’ll continue watching “Doctor Slump” and writing my reviews of the shows I haven’t finished yet. Lol. My write-up for Episode 10 of “An Incurable Case of Love” and the final episodes of “Hidden Love” are missing.

How about you? What are you watching this month? Any Cdrama recs?

Update: What Are We Watching in March 2024? ADDENDUM

79 Comments On “What Are We Watching in March 2024?”

  1. I am looking forward to Queen Of Tears, even though I am still upset by the writer’s treatment of the 2ML in Crash Landing On You. I like director Kim Hee Won.

  2. Yayyyy @pm3 ! Thank you for hosting this drama on BoD without our petition. @cleo cara where you at !

    @Fern, @agdr03 and others I hope you’ll join us here !

  3. Hello @Packmule3! I do hope you are okay!

I will be watching “Queen of Tears” @Arihsi, don’t worry!

One of my gr friends is a KSH fan, so we are eagerly waiting for the show to air…! 🫶

  4. @packmule3, @Arihsi, @Cleopatra, @Snowflower, I’ll be watching. It may be my only K-drama to watch live in March.

@Snowflower I had to think back to the 2ML in CLOY!

  5. I’ll be watching this with you ladies, I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully it will be a great story with lots of kisses. 🥰🤞🏻

I saw this drama called Wedding Impossible on instagram and it looks interesting. Here’s some info.

    https://mydramalist.com/744809-wedding-impossible

For Chinese drama, I will watch Snowstorm (I haven’t started it) and check out I May Love You.

Thank you and noted about the final drama write ups for AICOL and HL. ☺️

  6. Old American Lady (OAL)

Hi everyone, Right now I’m hooked on Doctor Slump. I find it to be a serious take on mental illness. They are looking at depression and PTSD in a visceral way and unlike some of what I’ve seen on American TV, they are not sensationalizing it. I like our two leads a lot.

I’ll definitely be watching “Queen of Tears” now that I know it’s on Netflix. I am happy it isn’t on Disney+ because it would probably be on Hulu here(a marketing ploy to get you to buy the bundle). I also want to see Snowstorm. I already watched An Incurable Vase of Live. I had read about it a while back and I enjoyed it.

I have Viki and I just went through my feed to see what I want to watch. There is so much that I missed that I’ll be busy for the foreseeable future. There’s also a lot on Amazon too. Having watched Marry My Husband(that I am still rewatching for detail) I am finding another treasure tro of dramas to watch. This should be my worst problem(LOL).

On a personal note, my husband just completed chemo. I am praying that this will give him years and a good quality of life. My job now is to provide him with tadty food so that he can build his strength from here. He deserves good given what he’s been through. Thank you BODers for your kindness and support. This site has been a refuge for me and I am grateful for the wonderful posters on it.

  7. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@OAL What great news! I wish your husband all the best in building up his strength with your meals, cooked with love.

I like Doctor Slump too for the same reasons. Although for a drama some things have to be simplified or made a bit lighter, this show still does justice to the sufferers of mental health issues. I’m so rooting for our leads to recover enough to be in a better place mentally. To be realistic, I trust that show won’t just make it such that there will be easy fixes, but portray that the road to recovery is long and slow, if possible.

  8. I have QUEEN of TEARS on my list 😀

Post AJTL (A JOURNEY TO LOVE) I am besotted with ML Liu Yu Ning and the veteran FL Liu Shi Shi AND the ENTIRE Ensemble Cast; ESPECIAL Shout Out to He Lan Dou as Princess Yang Ying.
Therefore I went to check out :

BE YOUR OWN LIGHT – ah the taste of things mature and adult and funny, yet slice of life. Will be watching that.

Awaiting (salivating) the release of :

LEGEND of JEWELRY (yup you guessed it Liu Yu Ning)

    Then there was :

FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT – even more slice of life .. if there was a more real feel adult romance and its development arc, this makes it to the TOP…
THUS my discovery of a set of talented ML (Elvis Han) and FL (Elvira Cai) who I not seen before, led me to short list :

    MR and MRS CHEN

and looking out for Elvira Cai

But this weekend I started AaSoL (Amidst a Storm of Love)
The storm is yet to hit (me)
It’s still a beautiful, sunny, cool, breezy, golden, picnic of a day from my set of lenses. ;-D

Gimme a thunder .. and a sudden cold gust .. one nimbus and a shard of lightning ASAP LOL

Is Hel Helsinki? .. The language looks Finnish.

  9. I have 3 eps left of Matchmakers but not sure when I’ll get around to finishing it, because I started A Dream of Splendor this week and WOW what a drama. I knew it had rave reviews, but it’s still far better than I expected.

Currently watching Dr. Slump and very much invested in our leads 🙂

I also started Reset this week. It’s one I’ve been meaning to watch because of excellent reviews and decided to jump in because I needed something with a completely different tone than the other dramas I’m watching.

I’ve been on the fence about watching Queen of Tears. I honestly didn’t find You From Another Star all that great. This may be one where I wait until it’s over before watching, just to make sure it doesn’t turn into a melodrama or otherwise tank somehow.

Not sure what else is on deck to air in March.

  10. The Impossible Heir is the one I am looking forward to. Unfortunately it is on Disney – which means it may not be possible to stream until it has fully aired in Korea unless Hulu airs it at the same time (always a mystery). Impossible Heir stars two actors I find incredibly talented: Lee Jae-wook and Lee Jun-young. Disney spent a TON of money on the production.

Wedding Impossible is also on my list. Funny how “Queen” and “Impossible” are in the title of more than one drama airing at the same time.

  11. I just finished “Amidst The Snowstorm of Love” and I was looking for the thread to put my concluding comments but I cannot find the post. Can someone please post the link here? It’s weird, I do not see it under the categories section of the drama titless. Thanks!

  12. @Janey,

For now, please scroll down to “Uncategorized” in the Categories section. You’ll find the thread there.

I’ll fix this tomorrow. I don’t have my kdrama/blog laptop with me now. 🙂

  13. Thank you @pm3,@agdr03!

  14. @OAL that is such good news! I hope he is able to make complete recovery and remains NED (No Evidence of Disease) for many many long and happy years. ❤️

  15. @welmaris ? Knock knock @welmaris ? Knock knock @welmaris ? Knock knock

Sheldon Cooper (BBT) style e-knocking to understand if she’ll be joining us !

  16. My Dear @OAL,

That are great news to hear! I wish all the best to your husband! 😊😊😀
Are you planning to do that surgery now?

  17. I’ll pass on “queen of tears”.
And anyway, even something I like, I don’t think I’ll have time.
    I keep that in mind:
    – The Impossible Heir (with the actor of alchemy of soul)
    – Pyramid Game (nice pitch)
    – Chicken Nugget (crazy pitch!!)

  18. @OAL I’m so glad your hubby is through with chemo. After I finished chemo my hair grew back four shades darker (and with no gray!), which was an added bonus (besides the fact that it may have saved my life!). It took a good long while to get back to normal, so encourage him to go easy on himself, take walks, and eat good food.

I traveled all over Southern California for the last couple of weeks and was so busy I hardly watch TV. I tried to hold off on watching the final episodes of Knight Flower but I finally couldn’t wait and watched it on my iPhone on the late night plane ride home a couple of nights ago (not the greatest viewing experience). I hope I can rewatch parts of it on a bigger screen.

I will watch Lee Jae Wook in anything, so The Impossible Heir is first on my list for March. Since I loved CLOY and find KSH easy on the eyes, Queen of Tears will also be on my list.

March is going to be a busy month for me, with lots of events I’m hosting and a garden to get going, so I’m not sure I’m going to be able to keep up with you all or offer any input as episodes drop. I’ll drop in every now and then…

  19. @OAL So happy your husband has completed chemo; it took me many months to overcome its side effects but am still experiencing the optimum effect—no cancer since 2010!!!
I, too, enjoy Lee Jae Wook a lot so will watch The Impossible Heir. Also planning to watch Queen of Tears for KSH who was very good in it’s Okay to not be Okay. Will stick with Dr Slump although I was underwhelmed with first two episodes.
Going back to my decision to discover good, older Kdramas I’m watching and enjoying Beethoven Virus. It’s reminding of Korean appreciation of Classical music.
Must say that March is not coming in like a lion in my neck of the woods as temps will be in the low 60’s much of this week. This is pretty much unheard of for Northeast US. Not complaining LOL

  20. I watched Wedding Impossible while waiting for an appointment this am. A great first episode! Funny and smart with a plucky but caustic heroine. Very CLOYish vibes with the mostly rotten grandchildren vying to inherit the company.

  21. Bosuji,

Yes Hel or Hull is Helsinki.

  22. Dear Friends and dear @GB, how are you?.

My Internet is incredibly slow these days so watching anything even at 360p is an exercise in patience. Right now I am trying to end “Sono Onna Jiruba (2021)” which I recommended to @GB. It is great and surely deserves a second watch, so not ending it (for now) is my fault.

Also watching “My Second Aoharu (2023)”. Hirose Alice’s character is a 32 years old officelady that lost her possibility to go to Architecture School due to an accident. After all her disappointments in life and after quitting to have dreams she finally finds the opportunity to go to the University. Her parents are poor and can’t give her money so she has to work as a housekeeper and other odd jobs. Decent idea yet the writers decided for her to have a romance with a young Senpai and regrettably besides a flash or two of a person doing her best later in life to improve herself we have mostly a college romance.

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hello My Dear @FGB,
We have missed having you on our threads. I’m sorry to know that your Internet is slow. I applaud you for your patience! I am too busy now to do much watching of anything. I am not sure if I have any more comments on our Jiruba thread but I’ll be sure to go back to read if you post anything there.

At the moment my family and I are dealing with a mixture of flu and covid. Nothing serious and am praying that all remains okay and does not get worse.

Do drop us a line now and then. You know where to find me!

  24. Flu + COVID ! Ouch ! Get well soon please.

I can join your club with a strange inflammatory allergic cough which is testing patience at office. I’m very embarassed you know… All the time kho kho kho… No infection indicated till now. Only allergy. 🥴

  25. I do hope you all we will be feeling better Unnie! <3

  26. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @Cleo and @Arihsi
Thank you for your good wishes. I’m okay but battling with loss of voice. Once again it happens just as I’m about to embark on another formation where I have to use my voice more. Still, I do find that being sick now is a blessing. It has given me days of rest which I would not have had otherwise. 🙂

    Take care too!! 😘🤗

  27. Sorry for the off-topic, but Happy Leap Day!!! 😀

  28. Happy Leap Day, @FGB4877. Have you done anything to celebrate? I forgot about it until I saw the animation on Google.

  29. Just enjoyed some cocoa tea 😉 .

Also watched Episode 9 of “Sono Onna, Jitterbug (2021)”. It is a wonderful and upbeat watch that I can recommend, rife of great messages about how life expands and even if opportunities are not served in a silver platter like in our youth, if we watch closely changes for the better are still there (with the benefit of insight and experience).

Dear Ladies (and dear Bro @WEnchanteur), I started watching Asian media using Anime as a my trampoline back when I was still a child, so Dramas are just the natural evolution. Is it OK for me to recommend some Anime now and then?.

  30. Happy Leap Day BOD! Hope everyone is doing well. Greetings from rainy and snowy (in the mountains) Northern California! Spring, where art thou?

Get well soon @GB and family!!

FYI, I just saw “Amidst The Snowstorm of Love” is now in Netflix!

… and I started watching “Hidden Love”, read some of your posts and exchanges. I’m liking it so far. Can’t wait for Zhizhi to grow up!

  31. Old American Lady(OAL)

@Growing Beautifully, Sending get well wishes to you and your family. I hope you have someone to care for you too.

Am looking forward to new dramas but right now I’m enjoying Dr. Slump. I am also rewatching parts of Marry My Husband.

Thank you for the good wishes for my husband. He is going for follow ups soon with VST scans and blood tests. I hope that there’s no evidence of cancer. The good news is that he’s keeping weight on. His chemo regimen was brutal.

I’ll wait to see how he’s doing and then will deal with my hip.

  32. @OAL, wishing and praying your husband will have full recovery from cancer soon. Fighting! Please take care as well.
    Best regards!

  33. After watching Marry My Husband, TVN got me hooked again with Wedding Impossible! 😃

The 2 episodes were great. I will rewatch the second episode because the drunk scene was funny. 😂 I liked how Ah Jung’s real life situation is seen by JiHan and not her 15 years bestie, DoHan.

I like that she’s feisty and knows pretty much everything an actress needs to do ‘incase’. 😄

  34. @agdr3 – I’m so glad someone else is watching. I really enjoyed the first two episodes. The show must be a subber’s nightmare – there is so much dialogue and it is spoken pretty fast. I had to rewind a couple of times to keep up with the subs. I think it is so hard to do this type of screwball comedy well and so far they’re nailing it. The scene in the “taxi” was a hoot. I also liked the last scene in the 2nd episode. I’m hooked on both the Impossible dramas. After a slow start to the years, there is a lot to watch.

  35. I agree @Good Twin! The dialogues are so fast but they deliver and deliver it well. 😃

I haven’t seen the main leads of this drama except for DoHan (forgot the actor’s name but I like him too). Actually most of the cast are from shows I’ve seen before so that’s a bonus too.

The taxi scene was hilarious. 😂

I can’t wait when they fall inlove. ☺️

  36. @agdr03 and @Good Twin, I love a good comedy. I’ll join you when I can.

  37. @OAL I’m re-watching parts of MMH too ! It’d be cool if we can chat on already existing threads ! Let me know 💗

I’ll keep (visually) chewing on MMH till I find something safe and coherent again because clearly, as a very adventurous adult, I’m great at trying new things.

Hip ? Although you don’t mention the issue, it must be painful 😣

  38. @agdr03 how is wedding impossible? We don’t have a thread here but looks like you and @good twin approve ?

    Pls let me know. 💐

  39. Hi @Fern and @Arishi, I think both of you will like this too. Please give it a go and see how you go. 😃

The first couple of episodes are solid. The FL can see through the ML so I’m willing to bet he’d fall in love with her first. ☺️ ML really wants to push her away from his hyung so he’s doing everything.

There’s scenes that’s quirky especially because it refers to dramas in real life but because the FL’s job is an actress, she outright says what should happen. Sigh, I can’t explain it properly. 😂 You’ll know what I mean.

The last scene made me feel for FL. 😊

PS. @Arishi, the height of our ML is very noticeable too. 😉

  40. @FGB4877 – I also transitioned from anime/manga to dramas. First Jdramas, then Kdramas, then TWdramas, then Cdramas 🙂

  41. Discovered Tan Jian Ci

In a DRAMA that I just finished : NEVER GONE (2018)

Had gone to check out Elvis Han Drama post watching him do a tailored fit role Fake It Till You Make It.

This is the first time I watched a show and SO DEEPLY missed having the non-OTP as the MAIN Leads LOL

Tan Jian Ci is what finally drew me to the end of the Drama.

I have HUGE gripe with the drama team for hashing up the novel (I suspect).

Anyway I was struck by Logorrhoea and ended up writing a LOOOOOONG spiel on the drama there ;-p

Now I need to go find something else ..

  42. Thank you @agdr03 for your recommendation. I needed something to look forward to for Mon-Tue slot !

  43. OK I am enjoying some rewatches still. Saves me the stress of worrying about wasting my time or using the time I have to watch something I am unhappy with and then being disappointed.

Recently I rewatched My Lovely Kim Sam Soon and Secret Garden, then Crash Landing on you. Cloy was one of my earlier watches and I really enjoyed noticing so much I had missed the first time like recognizing all the cameo actors.

MM and TW still high on my list to watch.

    Others are:

    Wonderland of Love
    Impossible Heir
    Impossible Wedding
Love of Jewelry(agree with Bosuji here)
    Captivating the sound
Queen of Tears like so many others
    Be your own light
Swing Kids Past Lives both movies
Like Flowers in Sand (sounds like a gem) I was not at all interested initially
    Salmdari
    Here comes Trouble

What Happens to My Family older family drama with Park Hyung Sik

all the interesting ones on Apple and Disney some day.

There are 3 I have not seen mentioned here:

Eye to Eye Japan I love the premise. The female lead can read others’ thoughts and that has made it difficult for her to have relationships. Nothing too new. The twist is that the male lead is korean(the male lead from Castaway) and thinks in Korean so the FL who is Japanese cannot read his thoughts.

Beauty and Mr Romantic with Ji Hyun Woo and unfortunately Im Soo Hyang. What to do ?It is 50 episodes -a weekender? I love him and am biased against her(not her fault Woo Ri the Virgin was such a bust.). I am getting snide here. She and Cha Eun Woo were well matched in My ID is Gangnam Beauty.

There is another Cha Eun Woo show coming up and the synopsis interests me although children dying makes me less interested and it is on Disney-Wonderful World is the name of the drama.

This reads more like a wish list than a plan!

    .

  44. Some of you might enjoy Tamra the Island (2009). I first watched it in poor frustrating quality but have noticed it is on Rakuten or Netflix now. I had thought it would be really hokey and it was in parts but overall was a fun watch. Story was interesting as was the romance with a male lead who usually does not play the romantic lead. He was appealing.

It is an atypical sageuk. stars Im Joo Hwan.

  45. On a later note, happy to read good news on your front, dear @OAL!!!. Having a patient in the family is never easy, especially for the caretakers and the person under treatment. Most success cases are the ones were the whole family is in for the changes.

Dear @Stacy, I haven’t really checked out Taiwanese nor Chinese Dramas, but I have heard that the later are finally achieving maturity.

  46. @FBG, in my opinion the heyday of TWdramas was about 10-15 years ago. I just don’t see current dramas getting the buzz that the popular dramas back then had. I may be just missing out, but that’s my perception anyways 🙂

  47. @monmor, I love Tamra The Island! Such a sweet little sageuk. FL and ML are so likeable. I still remember the scene when the FL is saying goodbye to ML while he is crying silently inside the house.
I am rewatching Alchemy of Souls Part 2 to get my LJW fix. When I watched it for the first time, I was paying more attention to him. Now I think Go Yoon Jung is simply luminous. LJW is still great, of course.

  48. @FGB, sorry to come late.
I watched a lot of anime in the past. But I don’t know the most recent ones.
    My top anime list is:
    – Kaiji. The anime from which squid game took everything, except the very expressive style. Like Liar Game, it relies on mind-blowing games, but more focused on the emotional impact. I then watched the movies. Quite good ones, but first watch the anime, much more powerful.
    – Death Note. The very big classic of mind-game. I guess anyone already watched it. Then I watched the movies, and the J-drama. But start with the anime! Absolutly!
    – Gantz. High-concept, weird mood, terrible atmosphere. Alas the anime doesn’t conclude the whole story (I had to read the manga to know the final word). Watch the first episode, and you are doommed (hooked).

Then many other animes, I can’t remember all. I stick more often for “shonen”, what is “near realistic story with harsh adult content”. “realistic” is about the mood, not the genre, you can have fantasy, sci-fi shonen mangas.
I watched Parasite anime, read the manga, watched the J-anime. Now korean makes a remake of this (coming soon, this month). It’s a good one too, and I’m curious to watch the korean adaptation, even if it’s disappointing.

  49. Errata: I wanted to say “Seinen”, not Shonen. 🙁

  50. @snowflower I really did not expect tamra the island to be as enjoyable as it was. I might be due another rewatch. What I remember mostly is the lead male and his manner. It was definitely different from most k dramas. It was my introduction to women divers And having an english speaking cast away, I think he was british, Was charming. There was something about the style of this show that was different. I would like to rewatch because I am only vague With this analysis. Might go Read some reviews To jog my memory.

  51. Correction, the Japanese Korean drama I referred to above. Is eye love you not eye to eye.

I spotted Nam In Woo as the younger version of a lead in “my love eun dong” a retro hallyu from 2015 I think.

Just noticed Lui Yuning in something else new- title Eternal Brotherhood or something like that.

  52. @monmor, I see Tamra The Island as a coming of age story of the FL. In the course if the drama our heroine learns to appreciate her family and her home, and she also learns the difference between puppy love and real love.

  53. @snowflower you are jogging my memory I remember now the touching scenes on this theme.

  54. Where I’m currently at:

    JDramas
Because of recent posts and all the positive comments, I watched An Incurable Case of Love…and loved it. Wouldn’t have given it a second chance without the great feedback on this site, so thank you everyone! 🙂

That drama got me in the mood to watch Jdramas, so I watched Animals. Pretty decent, but a bit unsatisfied with the ending. Then I watched Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu aka Full Time Wife Escapist. I really liked it, though there was one aspect towards the end that I thought didn’t make any sense at all.

    Kdramas
I finished The Matchmakers and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Loved the ending.

Still watching Dr. Slump. Loving the main and secondary romances, but getting a bit tired of the immature behaviors.

    Cdramas
On ep 8 of Reset. It’s a really good story and well acted, but I got a bit tired of the repeats so I put in on hold for a bit.

At the halfway point with A Dream of Splendor and the drama continues to amaze me. IT. IS. SO. GOOD.

Finally decided to jump into Story of Kunning Palace. I typically dislike palace politics and such, but I really like the leads and I’ve heard mostly good about it. I’m on ep 14 and so far, the drama is deliciously cracky.

    Upcoming
Still undecided if I’ll watch Queen of Tears or not. Waiting to see how the two Impossible dramas go before watching.

  55. I watched My Happy Marriage (movie) on YouTube and liked it. I did not understand all details of the world building, but enjoyed the dynamic between FL and ML.

  56. @snowflower I watched this show as well not knowing what to expect. Very interesting but I don’t think I really appreciated it. To me it was the kind of show one needed context for since I had no idea there was a fantasy element.

  57. I am starting “Eye love you” today 5 EPISODES and they all dropped today on Netflix. A Japanese(I think) production STARRING Korean Chae Jong hyeop of Castaway Diva. This is a romance fantasy where both Korean and Japanese are spoken.

  58. I think there may be another 5 episodes to come.

  59. “eye love you” Is cute, Funny, With some s**y. The male lead is Very different from how he was in castaway diva.

It has the Japanese esthetic which I can’t really define. But it is very different from korean dramas.

  60. @monmor, I watched all 5 eps of ELY today as well. Most Jdramas don’t make me hungry like Kdramas do, but this one is selling the Korean dishes and I’m starving LOL.

I know what you mean by the Japanese esthetic. I can’t explain it either.

  61. Old American Lady(OAL)

@monmor and @stacy, I think part of the Japanese esthetic is that emotions are sometimes tempered. We also see things more in focus. The cinematography seems clearer
It is hard to put it into words but even the humor is not subtle. For me, J Dramas are not my go-to place. In general they leave me cold. If anyone on BOD has recommendations for viewing I would be open to trying some.

  62. Some thoughts on Eye Love You:

It comes across as if a Japanese director said, “Let’s make a Japanese Kdrama!” and then made a checklist of tropes and cultural aspects to include lol. The pinky swear, “Have you eaten?”, the bottle drinks at the hospital, the wrist grab/hold…I know I’m forgetting some.

I like that the ML’s Japanese is very good but he reverts to Korean at times. I like that his coworkers like and appreciate Korean food.

  63. It is beyond my understanding why they are not translating the korean and only translating the japanese. At first I thought it was because the female lead does not understand korean. But this persisted for 5 episodes And I felt like I was missing out on some of his thoughts.

  64. The above post is about Eye love you.

  65. The noona trope comes to mind. I did find the confusion around noona and what it means to ask somebody If they have eaten yet rather amusing. These are tropes that new korean drama watchers will pass it over.

I feel offended Almost that they are not translating the korean.

  66. The prevailing assumption is that it’s supposed to help the viewer understand the FL’s perspective since she can’t understand his thoughts. There are translations when he speaks aloud in Korean, just not when he’s thinking and she’s hearing his thoughts.

I read on MDL that there’s a fan subber who is translating his thoughts, but I haven’t checked it out yet.

  67. Re. EYE LOVE YOU I was good with that assumption initially but part of the reason I wanted to watch this show Was about hearing and experiencing both languages and understanding them. I am not sure the spoken korean EVEN is always translated. A part of me can’t help but think that it is netflix saving money. They may have had to hire two Translators If they could not find someone who speaks both languages as well as english. I wonder if the non subbed to english version translates the korean to japanese?

  68. I am amusing myself by watching “everyone loves me” A chinese drama starring the female lead from hear me hear my voice and the male lead from put your head on my shoulder. It has some good laugh out. Loud moments And good romantic tension.

  69. Hello

Do you still watch 2D1N? Miss your review of 2D1N

  70. Hi there, @Riko.

I haven’t watched the last two episodes bec I’m traveling for work, and the show isn’t available on Viki outside the US.

Did you notice that our tall guy Na InWoo is getting funnier and funnier? It’s too bad that he’s about to exit the show to do his military conscription just when he’s found his rhythm and niche in the group.

  71. I think Na In Woo is going out on a high, so he will be remembered in some big roles. I also have the feeling that with his looks, he will age well and have a long career.

On a tangent: It’s interesting that some of the BTS members, who are all serving currently, continue to release material. It is smart of their company to store some things up and release them bit by bit. It’s a pity that actors have less chance to do that.

  72. I think b t s has handled this military conscription thing well. I like that they have allowed members to have Solo opportunities in the context of b t s not breaking up but supposed to be coming back together again after the military conscription As I understand it. Interesting that the government did give one of the members a postponement on conscription. I thought asking for an exemption because of their cultural value a rather interesting idea but it did not fly.

  73. Is anyone watching My Siblings Romance. I’m watching on VIKI in the US. They released the 4th episode today. It’s a dating reality show where sets of siblings (m/f) enter a house but can’t let others know they’re siblings and then there’s dating romance. Wow. I really found no way to type that out that didn’t sound incestuous. Anyway, I’ve found it to be equally hilarious and heartwarming.

  74. @packmule3 Yeah I noticed that too. He is a gem. Love his boomer character after Yoo Seonho joined lol since he’s not the youngest member anymore. It’s on another level 🤣

  75. @Arihsi, it’s almost the end of March, and I’m just now reading through this thread. Thank you for trying to get my attention, and for the Penny! Penny! Penny! allusion.

I’ve been watching dramas sporadically this month. I was in Seattle a couple of weeks, visiting my daughter and son-in-law. While there I took advantage of cultural offerings I could get to by bus: opera, symphony, and ballet. I also got together with friends in the area. I stayed busy!

Once home, I’ve been playing catch-up not only with drama watching, but household chores. I haven’t taken time to sort my thoughts about the Kdrama episodes I’ve recently watched, as sorting laundry has taken precedence.

I did finish Doctor Slump, and generally liked it. I also watched an older Kdrama (2020) entitled Dinner Mate, to tide me over while waiting for new episodes of current shows to drop. I picked it because I wanted to watch an older ML, and thought the actor, Song Seung Heon, turned in a fine performance. At the suggestion of Netflix, I watched the movie My Name is Loh Kiwan. Song Joong Ki plays a grittier role in this film than characters I’ve seen him play in TV dramas. I think he was believable as someone trying to scratch out an existence in trying circumstances.

I’m currently juggling Wedding Impossible, Queen of Tears, and The Midnight Studio. The latter is my least favorite of the three, and I may not stick with it to the end. One big gripe I have with it is the makeup and mannerisms of the ghosts: too zombie-like in my opinion. Show is also not consistent, making most, but not all, deceased look like relatives of Beetlejuice.

I have started going through Episode 1 of Queen of Tears with a fine-toothed comb, listing tropes. I’m only halfway through, and I’ve written pages!

@Old American Lady, I’m glad to read your husband is done with his chemotherapy. What an ordeal he and you have endured. Bless you both, and may your future be bright.

@Arihsi, if I remember correctly from last year, you observe Ramadan. If I’m right, then let me wish you Ramadan Mubarak. If I’m wrong, I still wish for blessings to visit you.

  76. As I was getting ready for easter this morning I suddenly wanted to rewatch the k drama “lovers”. I was remembering that her father is a pastor and they have christian christmas themed episodes. Thinking further, It very much has a redemption Theme of a gangster Wanting to make good after meeting This woman and her pastor father. Themes of spring and being reborn. So happy spring everybody! Let’s believe our sins have been washed away By the spring rain!

  77. I just started watching lovers and the opening scene is of him fishing! I may be on a roll with my analogy!

  78. Dear Queen @pm3,

I request for a “What are we watching in April?” Thread please. I want to gush about “Lovely Runner” (releasing April 8th, nowhere internationally) since quite some time now. There’s been a ton of trailers + highlights. TvN is promoting the drama well. Both the leads are very good performers too !

Like I always say, is watching k-content really watching unless I talk about it on BoD ?

    A k-beauty facial pretty please.
