The thread is open.

Sorry for the delay. I thought I had scheduled it for release last night. To make up for my oversight, here are some gifs from tonight/today’s episode.

Is that mint green on her? I like that color. So fresh and springlike.

Let’s enjoy the show.

  1. I think light blue on my iPad. I think the stylist for both actors really did well in this show.

@pkml3, yes it was a pleasant light, mint green on my screen! I liked the weight of the material in the skirt and how it swung around.

I found Ep 11 a mostly fluffly one with 4-5 points of ‘seriousness’…

    MINOR SPOILERS

    MINOR SPOILERS

    1) Our OTP are figuring out how to interpret what they mean about what they say about themselves. I like that they are communicating.

    2) Loneliness and the importance of family support are again highlighted. It’s good that JW gives us the positive message that he could find something to be happy about elsewhere when he accepted that he’d never get understanding from his parents.

    3) The villains are not sidelined by Show. They are just biding their time.

    4) Parenting is like sailing on unchartered waters, and having the right friend helps. The next couple should just step up now!

    5) Breakage of crockery/glasses can mean a bad omen??? but one should not put much store on that since broken crockery actually helped our OTP. We continue to hope for the best and be relatively happy while sort of not being surprised by the worst.

  3. Old American Lady(OAL)

To me this was the aegyo episode. Our ML just exuded it. I also liked the part where our FL was sneaking out of her house to bring her mom’s kimchi to him. There are nice touches of family humor here. Her family is sweet. Her brother is still that pesky brother who really cares about his sister but takes pleasure in “torturing” her. The Mom is funny too.I like how she sneaks around trying to find out about the true nature of her daughter’s relationship and whether our ML is sleeping with some woman. And the single Dad doctor colleague with the preteen daughter brings all the awkwardness of parenting a daughter in such a lovely way. The whole underwear buying scene brought memories of young adolescence to me. I remember how mortifying getting my first bra was. And the doctor’s lunch where our plastic surgeons had to top toe around whether our FL needed work was funny because probably as a matter of professional habit, these doctors would see “room for improvement” in everyone.

There are lots of reasons to enjoy this drama but what makes it pleasurable is the way it handles every day. life with sweetness and good humor

  4. I’m happy for the couple getting back together but it’s too much aegyo and fluff in this episode. These experienced and able actors don’t deserve this treatment and cutesy acting (implying the director wanted them to do it this way). We don’t deserve these as viewers as well. This has soured me on this drama. But I’m already way into the end so I’ll finish it (or not!).
Watching “Hidden Love” where we actually have a child character, it did not have these cutesy exaggerated acting to elicit swoon or funny moments. There are better ways to act or script these scenes out. Sorry but I’m slumped on Dr Slump. 😞

  5. Yes – adults (doctors no less) acting like teenagers in love, a sloppy mystery, the victim confronting the baddie in his vehicle with paperwork!!!, and a white truck! It really has the feel of an unfinished script when they went into production. The leads’ charm is carrying this drama.

  6. @GoodTwin – I was rolling my eyes watching ep 12! Even the spat between Dr Bin and JW didn’t add value to the story and just showed how juvenile the characters are (they are doctors!) and how sloppy the script is. – what is that hair pulling for? For laughs? Yikes ! Then the white truck of doom! This is a train (truck) wreck!

  7. Truck of doom is multiplying now because even if you think you survived one there is another one following to hit you. 🤣. However someone on another site noted the story is coming around full circle where in the beginning HaNuel almost got hit by TOD and though dying would be right to now TOD hits her but she wants to live. For that I might be willing to forgive writernim.

I like the reality writernim puts into the characters like when the OTP start to officially date a 2nd time and want to spend all night talking on the phone asking questions to get to know each other better. Also with the 2nd couple in the car when it’s clear they’re interested and DY asks if next time they can just talk about themselves and not their friends or their kids. Solid example of post divorce dating IRL.

  8. @koalatown I thought the second couple was a bright spot. She is helping him navigate having a teen and the scene of him with her son was quite sweet.

  9. Old American Lady(OAL)

@koalatown, I also like the second couple. They are unusual for K Dramas because they are single parents who are sympathetic characters. Of course they have children if the opposite sex so that’s a set up for helping each other.

As to our first couple, it may be said that there’s a case of arrested development. The drama makes a big case for their childhood and young adulthood when they spent most of their time studying and not going through what most people do; the awkwardness of childhood and adolescence. They seemed to spend those years studying
She didn’t even go on school field trips. I think this is consistent with their character development. And they are probably right for each other because they seem to have missed some developmental stages. Maybe they have to make up for lost time. They are brilliant doctors but have social deficits. The second couple is there to compare and contrast with our first couple. The set up is fun to watch for me.

  10. @OAL I just learned that adults renting high school uniforms and going out or to an amusement park is an actual thing. I can’t recall what other fairly recent drama had a similar scene – but it is a real thing. The fashion around Korean school uniforms is also quite interesting. They’re fairly fashion forward. In China it is more an athlesiure look.

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I finally got around to watching Ep 12 and re-reading/reading comments. While on the one hand I felt the childishness portrayed was overdone, it was consistent. IE I agree that to be consistent, JW and to an extent HN… and even perhaps Dr Bin might be allowed some degree of childishness because of earlier scenes where they exhibited it or were deprived of childhood ‘goodies’, however we did not need such long scenes of aegyo or fighting to get the message. I put all the extra minutes down to filler.

Hence I figure show could have been edited to just 14 episodes.

It seems Show has been wanting unnecessarily to insert conspiracies and drug crime into the mix. It has done so rather unevenly so that we’re finding a perfectly solid Show about recovering from mental health issues with struggling doctors finding love and their footing again, upended by strange criminal activities and white TODs that make little sense.

Show should have omitted Dr Oh Dong Min and just gone with the strange Dr Kang and the Macau thugs. It could have brought forward the romance of Dr Bin and Hong Ran and ended at Ep 12 with positive vibes.

  12. I feel like the OTP is also just that couple we all know who is a bit cringey cutsie. Most of the time when they act like that they are alone or think they are alone (even JW’s cutie tone changed once he thought he was being followed). So I think we as the audience are just privy to something private which some couples are just more prone to do. I also do think some of it is reflection of their arrested development and natural competitiveness/rivalry- like when they argue and try to one up the other on who is cuter. It isn’t unlike what they did when they were just administrative classmates arguing over who had clearer eyes while drunk. That’s their love language.

I am betting that the writer gives us a flashback and HN had told the police her suspicions on KM and was wearing a wire to try to get evidence on him and the mafia/CEO of that pharm company. That might explain her initial hesitation to get in the car but then did after some pressure from the honking cars. We know our writer likes to lead us down incredulous disbelief only to use a flashback to explain it logically. For example when it was odd that DY was telling their old teacher he needed Botox and pushing him to get it done earlier.

  13. Ooh @Koalatown that would be a clever twist!
It might explain why HaNeul was so keen to read dissertations during the car ride 😂

Also interesting that the episode ends with JeongWoo’s narration for a change.

  14. Good point, @Koalatown.

I’ll catch up with y’all. On Ep 11 now. This episode just tickles my funny bone.
