  1. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Thanks @pkml3!

  2. Hi, coming early today.
I was editing w4worlds. 4 episodes done on 12. Quite ok.
I don’t look for perfection, just more concise and mostly best clarity.

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE, I’m here a bit early too. If I don’t stop what I’m doing just before party time, I’ll be here late!

  4. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    We start NOW!!!

  5. Hi GB. Let’s go!

  6. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Jin Woo drives a green car… unusual colour. I think of green for ‘Go!’ He’s really all on the go in the cases he takes.

  7. Hi hi I am here today.

  8. This drama focus mostly on the main story, but we have a few “case of the week” to make stand Jin-Woo as a lawyer.
Surprizingly, he hires the lawyer who can’t speak well.
And the Ajumma too. (I don’t remember if we saw her before)

  9. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I like these scenes where Jin Woo turns things upside down in court. What unfolds is shown by Jin Woo to be false.

  10. Hello I am getting started!

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF, missed you last week!

  12. Hi, Im here!

  13. Hi @WE, @GB. @FF. I am here as well, though I may bow out early. @WE, I was wondering what the back story was on him hiring the stuttering lawyer.

  14. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, we get an intro to the Ahjumma a bit later. She was someone he helped in a trial as well and she opted to work for him. Yes, hiring the stuttering Lawyer Song was an interesting decision of Jin Woo’s.

  15. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @MM! and @SD!

    I started a bit earlier.

  16. @GB, I like green for go!

  17. Hi FF !!

In-A does like in dramas, going on the crime scene.
Instead to stay in her office, like she’s supposed to! 🙂

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @IB!! I’m at 8 minutes in already since I started a bit earlier.

  19. Hi WE, SD, MM, IB and GB. I was so tired I KO last week and missed the re-watch but I read the comments after.

  20. Fun now! We see the new team he has created, including the lawyer with the stutter and someone else! This is from memory now. Have we moved into the future?

I remember liking that little green car.

I don’t remember the ahjumma either.

  21. Hi IF, MM, SD. Everybody’s here today!
Until more people are interested by rewatch partys.

  22. The judge seem young, I wonder if he is experienced enough to be a judge.

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, I’m actually interested to find out how JW supported himself through law school. He seems to also have succeeded in some trials already since he has faithful Ahjumma with him now. He can even afford his car and all those beautiful long coats. All that remains a mystery.

  24. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM this is 4 years later. He’s 22 years old now I think.

  25. Our ML has to walk past protesters in front of the court house. Nice reference back to his father’s case.

  26. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, the judge turns out to be an interesting character over time.

  27. @GB, like any drama with “lawyer”, “surgeon”, etc, they always have super-powers (or almost). LOL.
We meet the new judge also, a guy who isn’t corrupted!

  28. In this case JW defended the corporate against and individual and he appears uncaring. Maybe it is the drama’s way to tell the viewers that JW earns big bucks from defending big corporates.

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM it’s interesting you noted that about the protesters, because the case itself and what the daughter will later say to Jin Woo remind us that he is far from being a distant, rich lawyer, but that he could actually relate with the cases of the common people. However in the first case we see, there was fraud and greed.

  30. Then, the counter-intuitive plot-point: Jin-Woo turns to be a cold-hearted lawyer now. Goal of the scene with the girl screaming in the street.

  31. Hi @IB and @MM. @GB, I had not thought to wonder about how JW got through law school. Instead I wondered if he went to law school. I wondered if it was more like a civil exam where he would just have to memorize things. I too like those beautiful long coats. I am not sure I like the person he has become though.

  32. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, the trick in all these dramas is to give us several characters who are possibly good guys and then we see what way they ‘turn’ as the plot thickens. Sometimes we get disappointed and sometimes surprised.

  33. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, you may have a point there. I’m always wondering how JW gets money to spend.

  34. @GB I remember you saying this earlier, re the nice suits. Now I see in this episode a possible answer — He is just trying to make money right now, with no shame.

The art student yelling at the ML, painful to see with echoes of his own feelings 4 years earlier.

If this isnt preproduced then the audience might even worry for a few mionutes on a friday night that JinU is getting corrupted…

  35. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, the way JW is re-introduced to us is interesting. We are left wondering for a while.

  36. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, Show is showing us JW who is single-minded to the extent that he appears cold and uncaring, but later we see him with his ‘staff’ and get another perspective.

  37. Nam Guy-Man was about to stands up BUT…
It’s the other old man getting the congratulations. 🙂
Then of course, he razes the table in makjang style. 😀
    So quickly frustrated…
Never give him a cold coffee, he burns the coffee-shop!

  38. Asking the question about how he afforded law school is apt considering his accusation the the employee who died was committing fraud to afford his daughter’s education.

  39. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, that’s true. We wonder what changes have taken place in JW. We will get a flashback of In Ah’s where JW as a teenager left angry after he had been betrayed by Park DH.

  40. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE Dad Nam is 2-faced. On the one hand in public he praises the right man ie the Vice-President … but in private, he does something entirely different.

  41. I like the quick montage with In A going into the building at the same time as JW leaves, in slow motion. Even though it is not a time travel drama it has a time travel feel to it. And of course, that just-missed-each-other quality.

  42. I don’t understand why the old man appointed another old man as his successor just to get his son irritated and later frame the old man as a lecherous who preys on his female subordinate.

  43. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, yes, precisely. I wondered if he gambled again and used his great memory to win a few rounds at cards to get the money he needed. But now we see that he does take on some cases and goes to trial, so at times he does get paid.

  44. Father: “I don’t remember you, but I have the feeling you are a good person”. Just always the best tear-jerkers lines in every scene of this kind.
Then the reaction when he remembers him. River of tears…!!

  45. @WE
The way NGM set-up the downfall of the VP is just hinted at…

  46. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, In Ah and JW miss each other and the Judge Kang missed his chance to show interest in In Ah.

  47. I’m shocked about how this drama is emotionnaly devastating, without mercy for characters and audience. The way it should be done!

  48. @IF, GB, yeah yeah, I know that father has another plan.
But I find it funny that he hides it to his son.
So, we still have the nerveous breakdown of him.

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I believe that Dad Nam wanted to do everything to pave the way for his son but did not want his methods to tarnish the name of the Ilho Company.

The MOST ironical thing is that Ilho Life is supposed to be about caring for people’s lives but they destroy individuals, even murdering those who are inconvenient to have around.

  50. Sweater guy is without his sweater!

  51. JW visits his father again and his father fails to recognize him and suddenly recognizes him after seeing a pendent.(?)

Then the father remembers that he had seen and knew JW is a lawyer, feeling happy that his son has succeeded and that his behavior is a repeated one.

  52. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, for some reason I am unable to pin down, I don’t like to play along with Show to cry when it turns the screws. I feel perhaps that I’m being manipulated too obviously and I won’t give in.

  53. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, almost unrecognisable without his sweater!

  54. @FF, the pendent is the mother’s ring on a chain. We see it in one of the early scenes when it gets torn off of JW by a protester and In A picks it up and hands it back to JW.

  55. @GB, I feel exactly what you say in american shows, but not in kdramas. So I can enjoy the full blasts! 😉

  56. @GB, framing the old man who preys on female subordinate also tarnishes the company’s reputation isn’t it?

  57. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, JW’s chain had his mother’s ring on it like a pendant. It was the means by which he could help his father recall whom he is.

  58. @FF, @GB

    Class connections..
The new judge is a classmate of both GyuMan and SooBeom, and is friendly with the chaebol sister… so at first he also seems a little in-play morally.

Two cute scenes of other horizontal connections — DongHo and Boss Seok drink the bitter and the sweet together, and Soo Beom and Mr.Pyun as a pair of subordinates in the Il Ho world, eat red bean buns together on the backstairs.

  59. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, true, however company can jettison the old man for being a trouble maker or criminal and appear justified.

  60. Well, I said there was “case of the week”, but I was wrong, it was a “10 minutes case”. Now we have a case directly involving the main situation. I can’t be more happy.

  61. @SD, so my next question will be does the father remembers or recognizes JW everything he sees the mother’s ring on the chain? …. I guess not

  62. The two guys sharing a red bean bund, one is full of complains of his boss while the other has none.

  63. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, you’ll find out if the ring on chain works later in the episode.

  64. @GB, you are not giving me spoilers. hahah

  65. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Another case to bring back some memories of how JW’s father could not remember but was still condemned. Park DH recalls and now even JW is interested in this case. It’s to get his toe in with business of Ilho.

  66. I think this episode so far is so clever in re establishing the themes and questions of character, now that there has been a time jump, with detailed visuals and dialog.

  67. The feeling of In-A. Alone with a murderer in an elevator.

  68. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, veiled spoilers lah… some scenes for you to look forward to.

  69. JW will face off In A in this case.

  70. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM and we will get more scenes to tell us something else about JW that we did not know before.

We have this episode establishing where everyone is in their lives and in relation to each other. We get meetings between various characters, references to past scenes and flashbacks.

  71. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I was amused by In Ah’s expression when NGM got into the lift with her.

  72. @WE I liked that elevator scene also. In A is not quite able to control her response and because of the flash back we know why. Gyu Man’s handsome appearance is NOT the reason!

  73. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF Show chooses the most dramatic way for In Ah to meet JW again.

  74. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, I watch actor Namgoong Min here and then in a cameo in Dynamite Kiss, and he looks like he put on weight. He’s so different there … playing the role of a lawyer in that cameo!!! LOL.

  75. @SD, yeah. I like how writer take care about a small scene like this.

In-A has everything wrong about the trial, and doesn’t know it. She’s manipulated, and just work for NAM group to win the case.

Dong-Ho is supposed to loose, but… Jin-Woo comes to create the real mess here! If he take the case as a lawyer, he will defeat NAM.

  76. This is an excellent occasion to put Jin-Woo vs In-A !!

  77. All in one episode, they missed each other earlier: one entering the building the other exiting the building in slow motion; In Ah caught a glimpse of JW but could not catch up with him while he exits the building; finally, they met in the court room as opponents.

  78. Han-Ha is a liar, hungry for money. The kind who attack for “sexual harassement” her official boyfriend. Bouhhh!
And there were real case like this.

    It ends on this cliffhanger.
Now the prosecution is in bad shape.

  79. The episode ends with a hint that In Ah is going to lose the case.

  80. @FF, yeah! I like how their first meeting was delayed on purpose, to put them as opponents when it happens. 😉

  81. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

We get to see the scenes where In Ah is warm and caring towards the victim and hard working in going to crime scenes …. BUT…. JW has done even more research!

  82. Lee Shi A is fmiliar from 365 Repeat the year. she plays the woman who is a victim of burglary and preyed on by theVP. If I remember correctly there are more terrifying scenes coming up.

  83. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, I do not recall any more scenes of violence except for at least one against JW. I will only notice if I rewatch.

  84. Here I am again only half way through! I will do some FFing but I do not like missing the detail!

  85. @MM, I too am behind (per usual)

  86. I leave now.
    Have a good week everybody!

  87. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Bye @WE and everyone!

  88. Bye @WE

  89. Bye all, have a good week ahead.

  90. Bye GB, MM, FF, SD, WE! Until next week.

  91. @GB There was only the scene of her beat upgoing into the poice station. I may be thinking of another drama. I am thinking something happens to HaNa later on.

  92. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, I believe fortunately nothing worse happens to Ha Na. But JW speaks with her next episode. There’s the repeated theme about parents and children and what they would do for each other. Ha Na is also a ‘child’ with a parent. VP Kang is a parent who fears that his family will loath him.

  93. The scene in the courtroom where DH warns/threatens INah that it will not be easy to right the wrong on JW’s father’s conviction is nteresting. It feels to me full of ambiguity about DH’s character.

  94. @MM, the scene with DH and Suok Joo Il reflects that ambiguity as well: the alcohol is sometimes bitter and sometimes sweet. It took that to mean, the cash and good living and stability is sweet, but the jobs that they have to do, not always, sometimes that is bitter indeed. Sort of the honor among thieves — sometimes there are things that they do not want to do. I think for DH, he also is continuing to look for a way to fight for his former client (the contract on the won note); we just do not see it in this episode.

  95. The last exchsnge between JW and the male professor witness was not translated?

When DH enters the courtroom our 2 other main characters are facing off. Again a reference to their previous relationship.

I made it to the end!!!!!

I may not be here for the next 2 weeks because of business over the holidays.

  96. @ SD Yes that conversation was not just about the beer. Personally I prefer IPA!
