The thread is open.
Here’s @GB’s intro for the show.
There will be 8 episodes of around 30-40 minutes each.
This series was first aired some 10 years ago!!! We get to see a younger and maybe slightly happier Yoo Seung Ho in this drama compared to when he was in “Remember: War of the Son”.
My Dramalist’s Synopsis: “Hyun Jong Hyeon is a webtoon writer and works part-time at a bookstore. He always dreamed of working as a webtoon writer, but he has difficulties due to his stubborn and self-centered personality. He also has a cat named Bok Gil. He first met his cat on the street on a rainy day. Since then, they have lived together, and Hyun Jong Hyeon only opens his mind to Bok Gil.”
Perhaps just as important, we get to hear Bok Gil’s thoughts as he responds (or not) to Hyun Jong Hyeon). It’s one of those shows that seems rather middling to light, without much of a plot, but it does set one thinking, and may even pack a bit of a punch towards the end.

Hi here
Is it the wrong hour?
I’ll come back in one hour.
Hi @We, @GB, I am having troubles with internet sopeed and (possibly therefore) subtitles. Will check back in if I can fix.
That would be in half an hour, @We.
Hi @WE and @IB. It’s still early… 13 minutes to go!
No luck. I was lazy not to have actually downloaded it. Will fix by next week.
At first I didnt realize I didnt have subtitles since I remember it so vividly anyway.
I will watch anyway as best I can alongside you all. It is kind of fun in full Korean.
Hi @IB and @WE, let’s start NOW!
Hi GB and IF
@IF, the subtitles are endembed into the .mkv video.
Bok Gil is a big orange cat.
If I remember well, it’s a female cat.
We see Jong Hyeon at his low point. And we are given a flashback to what had happened that day to have him return drunk and depressed. Bok Gil is patient.
Poor Bok Gil is being falsely accused. She did not eat all the cat snacks.
Ahh no shrimps. He falls asleep before the poor cat can eat. But she still pur rrr-rrr-rrr…
@WE, Bok Gil puts up with a lot from this human. She did not even get fed!
I’ll be late few minutes, I needed to get a pull-over because it’s cold here.
Finaly the editor likes it, even if it’s dark?!
There the top manhwaga, that is also an arrogant jerk. ^^
@WE the arrogant jerk is needed to add more conflict to something that has little story.
The cute girl of the drama entered the library
@WE @IB, so there are 2 females who are wrongly accused by Jeong Hyeon. Bok Gil is accused of eating her snack. Na U is accused of stealing a book.
@GB, we can say it’s a slice of life? 🙂
The manager is painful too.
But I’m not sure if she took the book?!
@WE you mean we are watching a slice of life drama…a moment at a time?
It kills me the way he has her sit with her hands up in the air like a kid in school while he interrogates her about the food.
@WE, the bookstore manager is totally unreasonable. While JH is working as a part-timer he is mean and unfair towards him.
The girl, Man U did not steal the book. The real thief put it into her bag to escape detection himself.
ahhhhhhh… his manhwa won’t be published…
Everything’s go wrong.
@IB we seem to be watching a parallel lot of scenes where Bok Gil is accused unjustly by JH and JH himself is unjustly treated by his boss.
Bok Gil is forgiving.
@GB, oh yes, I missed the detail to slip in her bag.
For now I’m not even sure if Bog-Gil could eat something since two day. oO !!
@WE, I had the mpression that poor Bok Gil has been waiting the whole day for a meal but maybe she had food in the morning and is waiting for her night time snack.
Poor Bok Gil was so hungry but she’s accused of being fat. LOL she has to exercise.
@WE, We seem to have theme of strays. Stray humans looking after stray cats and a other humans who look down on stray humans and cats alike.
@GB, accused to be a pig in desguise. ^^
I like the inner voice of the cat, because it has the personnality of a cat. Independant, wanting to keep distance.
Then there’s the question of being responsible.
JH gets worked up over the girl’s irresponsible feeding of a stray. But later we may question his responsibility as well.
Two times he meets this girl now.
Barely ok first time, but turns wrong second time.
@WE, Yes, I too like the cat’s voice actor who gives Bok Gil personality.
We hear about Soo In, a girl that JH had once loved who has passed away. Bok Gil seems to be a sort of replacement for his lost love.
Oh, it was a flashback, I missed that: so it’s why the bag of snack was already open, but he was to drunk to remember immediatly. Yep, the cat accused wrongly + he did the opposite of what he said to the girl about responsability and “don’t give food to stray cats for their own good”.
@WE, yes now he recognises the bell sound and the girl from behind. Now he’s the one doing the wrongful accusation. He should have questioned her properly first before letting his boss’ attitude get to him so that he treats her badly as well.
We see the backstory of how she’d picked up the cat food. Now he will find out that he was the one who made the mistake but blamed Bok Gil for eating the food.
@GB, I’m rewatching Spring to Spring, a funny drama about body switch (not mind but body!), and it gave me the idea about a mind switch concept: someone exchange mind with a cat. Just imagine a human acting like a cat (tons of gag game in my mind, like the guy catch a fly and eat it). Then also the cat acting with human intelligence.
@WE, yes that’s right. He was drunk and feeding the stray cat too. So is he able to be responsible for that other stray cat?
@WE, a mind switch with an animal is rather extreme!!! But depending on how you write it, it could be funny .
Over here we find another parallel where the girl, Na U, is also having a bad day after being nice to the cat the trying to be helpful towards Jong Hyeon.
We find that she lost her cat, Haru…., JH lost his girlfriend Soo In. Both are still in mourning although the loss was years in the past.
A whole bunch of apologising needed now by JH towards Bok Gil and Na U.
It’s already over, 30 minutes, it’s fast.
He said biané to Na U !! (an “ahum” biané)
Then the touching moment when she finds cat hair on him.
There are 4 minutes left for me.
There’s the cat’s bell that sounds familiar to Bok Gil but which was on Na U’s bag… it had been Haru’s bell.
@WE lol cat is jealous of JH having another female on his mind. She considers him her human and no other female is needed.
@WE @IB, at least in this show Yoo Seung Hoo gets to smile sweetly more often than in R:WoTS. But I feel his smiles in the opening credits are too much… like there’s no reason to be that elated. A bit of over-acting perhaps.
@GB, I watch tons of short cat videos. And sometimes the cat has HER guy, and when the girlfriend comes to close, the cat attack her! ^^
@WE, I gather that cats can be possessive and jealous.
@GB, yep, the bell is foreshadowing at this point. Hey, there is little screenplay tricks along the way, even if it’s not a big saga as a story. 😉
@WE @IB, one thing about cats is that they generally consider themselves the ‘boss’ and that humans are there to serve them. The entitled attitude. However this voice actor does not make Bok Gil too jealous.
Who’s going to fight over whom? Two females fight over JH or two humans going to fight over Bok Gil?
@WE, yes this is a ‘little’ drama but it does offer more in terms of parallel lines, foreshadowing, introduction of characters who will play bigger roles and sets the tone for the relationships. Personalities are also quite revealed even in a short episode.
I’ve to go now, See you soon.
Bye @WE and @IB!
We will need to look at the votes for the next show next week.
Hi guys, the squeeze seems to be over on the internet use.
The one question I had for comprehension (while listening in Korean) but could not ask is, what were he and the character played by MinSeok talking about? I had forgotten MS!
About cats and jealousy — they are territorial and passive=aggressive. My human is my employee/servant, and if you try to hog his/her attention I will do one of a long list of cat-spiteful things: scratching, biting, hiding, peeing, breaking stuff “inadvertently”, tail-switching back and forth, back turned, jumping from a height onto human stomachs with uncanny accuracy………
And I say this with the greatest fondness and admiration for the way my cats over the years have firmly whipped me into shape.
The voice actor is great, a little whispery, very girly, but stand-her-ground. She is extremely funny when he is treating her like a plush toy, protesting ineffectually, she even seems out-of-breath! from the handling.
Without the subtitles, the Korean old-style bellowing tone of guys in what shouldnt be that serious a discussion is really in-your-face. The grumpy neighbor does it too.
The cute girl sounds a little like the cat, but she is way too sweet to do cat-spiteful stuff back at those big bullies.
Good night @GB. Good evening, @WE.
We’ll talk next time. Have a good week.
