Hi Everyone! Thanks for the thread @pkml3!!
I know this is only the 2nd week of Imaginary Cat, however, we’re already deciding on the next Show to rewatch in 7 weeks’ time. Here are the results of our votes so far. Let me know if you can access the Excel sheet.

So which will it be? Pinocchio or Missing Season 1 and 2?
You’re welcome, @GB. Just updated the thread include the watch times.
Thanks @pkml3!
Hi GB! I took a look at the list again. For the 2 you list, I havent seen Pinocchio but I like the cast.
I have seen Missing, but back in the post-surgery days, so floating along on meds. Would be fine watching it with the group, w/purpose of thinking about script and storytelling.
Off to walk the dog now before it rains. Back in 40mins.
If that wasnt clear, I would add another vote for Pinocchio, but I am fine no matter which way it goes.
@GB — @pcml put our viewtime as 900 here in the US, while we are on summer time –10:00 am.
US EST. For West Coast, 5 time zones away.
Oh my goodness, Imaginary Cat is back on the US Viki list. Did somebody hear us?
Usually shows disappear from Viki Rakuten. The first time I have seen one come back.
I am going to redouble my requests.
But the video download from @WE actually looks and sounds better. Not sure why.
Hi @IB, about the correct start time, well I did say in the WAWW thread to adjust for local Daylight Savings … however, there may be just the 3 of us, hence it may not matter at all.
I’ve been watching Perfect Crown and did not rewatch Ep 2 of IC. However I can probably recall enough.
Hi here.
I don’t know what is “missing” that I didn’t watch yet, so I’ll to take a look first before to say.
Hi @WE and @IB… it’s time to start NOW!!!
“You’re a Genius” says the Ginger Cat with Orange Eyes.
We see Jong Hyeon from Bok Gil’s point of view. Sometimes he’s crazy or an idiot, LOL.
I notice in this episode several people sleep with their heads on the table.
Hi GB. I start.
Rewatch time is 16:00 (4pm) here.
I don’t get it.
Previous episode, the publisher wasn’t ok to publish him?
@WE, I may try to let @pkml3 know to change the timing.
@WE, I think the editor wants to publish his work but the boss might have other ideas. They are promoting his rival at the moment. Also, he has to hand in more work. There’s a deadline to meet.
The cat sounds so much like a girl, and like THE girl! That little sound pfft, she makes when he leaves ” You’re not leaving bec you’re mad at me?”…pfft.
So we see that Na Woo does not like her mum. Since her sister calls her mum ‘aunt’ that means that they are step sisters and Na Woo’s mum is her step mother or something like that.
@WE, She (LeeEL) is having him (JH) do a new strip, a new proposal.
BG wants him to play with her. Theme of creativity, and of being stuck.
Hi IF. Yes, it’s a female cat. 😉
An excuse to spend the night together in the library. I can’t trust there is no way to go out!!
The girl acts like a cat in fact..
I still don’t understand the title of the drama.
@GB, BG too sleeps like a person with her head on his pillow! JH puts his jacket under NW’s head and she nestles into it like a kitty.
Woo! Let’s play in the bookstore!
Oh I forgot the editor has a crush for ML.
But he prefers his cat. 🙂
@WE, it is that she sounds exactly, exactly like a Korean girl. I mean exactly, same intonations, lisp etc. Same teasing tone.
So JH found BG on the death-day of his girlfriend, the one-year anniversary.
NW draws little pawprints on the back of his badge. BG walked on his drawing paper (earlier) and left pink pawprints — inspiration, match and twigs.
Nice.
@IB That’s true. People and their pets sleep like each other.
MIssing; The Other Side. About the village of the missing dead and the detective who visits them there.
@WE, the editor has JH’s friend as her boyfriend.
JH has been in mourning for the girl he liked in school. I believe finding Bok Gil sort of filled the hole in his heart. Hence the extra attachment to BG.
@IB, so you prefer the next Show to be ‘Missing’? I believe we should watch Season 1 before Season 2.
It’s scary that she commits suicide when everything’s look ok, and he’s almost her boyfriend, but sure he should regret to not answer to “I love you now”. This backstory is beyond understanding but nothing could hurt more this guy.
NO, not at all. I would prefer Pinocchio. But I am ok if y’all want M.
Oh, the girl, Soo In committed suicide. I guess it’s that much worse for JH. He didn’t tell her that he liked her when she asked.
His friend Hae Gong is fortunately around for him. JH seems to be so alone.
Yes, there is no reason for her suicide. I guess he was oblivious to her pain?
I got confused at the paper boat scene, at first I thought it was the past, just past the girlfriend’s death, then maybe the year he found Haru/BG… but then Hae Gong arrives and it is the present?
@WE the next thing is Na Woo upset over another death… but this time a cat. Grief over a cat and grief over a human being… Show wants to tie these together. Na Woo considers the stray cat her family.
One thing about Na Woo is that she’s too emotional every now and then. She should learn to take things calmly.
NW confuses the present dead cat with Haru. A trauma for her that she cant get over. A little artificial, the parallel between the two people.
I cant watch her eating black bean noodles in a plastic plate above that nice dress! Disaster on the RL horizon!
@IB, this actress finally turns up on my screen again… in Yumi’s Cells. I think she looks better now and perhaps acts better too.
@IB a lot of talk of death and loving a creature that would die before one… some foreshadowing taking place.
Hah! BG is displeased with JH.
@GB, she’s a young emotional girl, cat like, so probably it can only be like this? She needed hugs, and ML was there, everything’s perfect! 🙂
“She looks like a typical cat..” What a typical boy-remark. He knows what every whisker looks like.
“you don’t have a chance, I lived here 7 years with him, and no other woman entered this place”. 😀
Jalous cat!
@WE, well Na Woo is kind of pushy when it comes to getting close to the cat and JH. I didn’t really like her, but she improves a bit over time.
@WE Between the females, I prefer the cat. However poor BG is getting on in years. It’s time to ‘replace’ her with someone younger I guess… and more like JH, like another human?
Me too @GB. About JW. It is partly that she is so much like the cat. I love the cat so I suspect the girl…I know that makes no sense.
Did BG recognize JW at the very end there? Who said that quiet little “No way!”
@IB, even if BG recognised NW, I don’t think she harbours any attachment to her. More attachment to the food she used to get. Heheheh!
About the cat’s age thing. The writer sort of had to stretch the truth. Cats dont die at 8 years old. They die at twice that age mostly barring illness. But then NW’s Haru trauma would be just a faint memory, and BG would not come into JH’s life early enough to heal his heart.
Or maybe I should say, slip into that girl-shaped hole in his heart.
Just as NW is about to do. She slips under his radar. Under his arm in fact and into his apartment.
@GB, nooooo. The girl is adorable, like a cat but better. This poor guy can’t be alone all his life, when a pretty girl (who love cats too) is sincerely interested in him?? But he needs to evolve a bit and going out of his mourn now, to see her.
I leave now, and see you soon.
I think I’ll watch Yumi cells first episodes, so I can comment on the thread.
Bye @WE!
@GB, I cant leave without remarking how much I laughed in the latter part of the episode.
The acidity of BG’s tone balances out the sad story of JH and NW’s meltdown. And the close-ups on the cats face while she listens to him apologize. And then the fluffy pink birthday hat!
I loved it!
@GB, I am a little unsure of the timeline, because it looks like this:
On the anniversary of his girlfriends death JH finds Haru in the rain. He doesnt usually celebrate the date, for obvious reasons. And he hasnt been going to his girlfriend at the columbarium every year either.
But NW has been encouraging him or maybe he has also been encouraging her? to look for the good in past experiences, not to dwell on the sadness.
So therefore he decides to change the meaning of the day and call it BG’s birthday.
Doesnt that mean a sort of disaster if BG does pass away?
@IB, I believe you’re right. Replacing one who is dead with another who will die earlier than a human is not exactly the best strategy. I suppose our emotional young characters are swept up in falling for the cat and carrying on with what feels good.
So we have yet to decide on whether it’s Pinocchio or Missing. Well, maybe next week.
Re the numbers for Missing The Other Side, there was a mistake about my votes. It should have been a 1 each for the two seasons, which does not give Missing any advantage at all.
Actually I will send this to you on mdl.
More Re numbers…
So
1. Pinocchio has 6,
the following have votes from we three with some buy in from others
2. From Now On Showtime? (I am in the midst of watching it still)
3. My love from the Star? I would love to watch that! (I think the 5th vote is from MM)
4. Missing: The Other Side
Hi @IB, I’ve amended the vote ie made your vote for Missing Seasons 1 and 2 to be 1 vote each, hence we are likely going to have another Park Hye Ryun drama, “Pinocchio” for our next Rewatch Party. 🙂
