Yay! Thanks @pkml3! I skipped ahead to Ep 9 onwards and this series is just sooooo good in terms of the convoluted twists it puts our characters through. I have to rewatch Ep 7 soon so that I don’t get my timeline all mixed up!!!
Wish you could join us! 😁
‘Evening, @GB!
Good morning @IB!
I’m sleepy today. I was afraid I’d oversleep if I had a nap before our start time.
OK it’s time to START now!
I am on the opposite end, had a bad night, but it affects me by lack of focus. Keep me on the straight and narrow, sunbae!
@IB okay I need to be vertical instead of horizontally snoring and you need to be on the straight and narrow!! 😂
This week’s episode is The Frog in the Well.
In Ha warns that DP has made a mistake about the report on the woman who died after exercising for 3 hours.
Here we go with IA almost spilling the beans — it is difficult for Beom Jo to keep a Pinocchio on the leash, so he picks her up like a sack of rice and hurries off with her!
The news stations are more intent on competing and screwing each other over than in working on their news reports.
Yes it is more of a game — so the betting last episode?
@IB and now that DP sees another guy manhandling IH he feels the jealousy that he never experienced before.
Oh, true! abt the manhandling and DP.
Yes, they were betting and more betting will take place later in this episode I think. They are more intent on competing than on checking their news report.
They are frogs in the well who did not look beyond the walls of the well.
I always really like the ‘workplace’ scenes and settings.
Like other ajummas, I suppose it is like going an a tour.
Here they decide on timings — back and forth between the two news stations’ crews… it is hard to keep track. A lot of that in this show?
@IB and now we hear the real reason for the mother’s desperate exercising. It’s heart breaking …
Yes a lot of back and forth. I noticed that they did the split between YGN and MSC last episode too with the questions asked at one station and we hear the answers at the other station, but spoken by different reporters questioning their respective newbies.
At least 1 good thing came of the poor woman’s death. The public responded to her daughter’s plight.
Poor DP — LJS is so good at performing empathetic, I cant keep the guy and the character apart. The poor daughter.
Just a niggle, the fatty liver will not reverse itself no matter what the mom does, if I understand it correctly? Nevertheless she would need to lose weight for the operation for a myriad of reasons.
I loved the bathtub scene where instead of the bathhouse, the older and younger family members scrub each other in a modern bathtub!
And exactly as one would have thought, the dirt was a bit much coming from DP!
@IB I’m not sure about the fatty liver part… but yes, it was probably not a good idea to donate her liver in her over-weight condition.
DP condemns himself.
Oh, oops I got a little ahead…now poor DP is yelling at himself in a fantasy scene.
LOL I thought that sharing the same bath water in the tub was rather disgusting. So much dirt being poured over grandpa!!!
So brother Ki Jae Myung pays attention to the news and stares daggers at the anchor woman.
Rice puffs!!!
Choco bars!!!
fresh clothes for Beom Jo. His Mom is like a fairy godmother!
DP has gone off the grid out of shame and disgust at hmself.
Now the YGN anchor gives good advice – forget about competing and work on getting to the truth of the news.
When his Mom looked at BJ aghast in the tv station I thought he looked fine! Maybe she could smell him.
Before the fairy godmother bit of BJ’s mum, we get the betting again going on between the reporters. The YGN reporter sticks to his own team at least.
@IB yes, I wondered in what way he looked dirty. Only his hair was in a mess.
In Ha is sick and everyone has to help… Chan Soo, fairy godma through BJ and finally she had to go to the hospital anyway, and it was DP who brought her.
So a good moral is drawn by the mid-bosses — all the reporters learn from the experience.
DP is still in hiding.
He has a long conversation with Grandpa, one of thoseabtract discussions where proverbs are clevverly turned inside out — what is the word I want? Rhetorical? Fortensic keeps coming to mind but that’s wrong.
Anyway, its Korea, lets talk about poop!
DP and father speak of poop… he’s afraid of poop because it might rub off on him but now he finds that he is like the reporters he condemned because he went for the easy story and did not find out the real truth before reporting.
DP returns but no one scolds him. The mid-level reporter is on his side since he had ruined his family 13 years previously by a similarly careless news report.
DP is going to come back to work. The flashbacks to past meltdowns at the station are very funny (I dont know why I laughed at a possible suicide, unintentional as it might have been!). It makes the current crew of kid reporters seem so much more mature.
LOL more jokes… In Ha tries to infect Chan Soo in order to get news out of him. DP returns in time to read and memorise the telephone numbers in Chan Soo’s hand.
Rich boy and mum doing mawari together in the nice car!! Poor IH is quite sick and so out of it.
Hi GB & IF. Sorry, couldn’t come back home in time.
I set the time where you are in.
I’ll rewatch the start of episode later.
So, I find In Ha in the car of rich boy with mom.
A toilet with a heated seat? at the police station? What luxury. And IA is really out of it to fall asleep in the stall!
She’s sick in hospital, no idea what, but doesn’t look too much serious.
Hi @WE!
Hi @WE! Glad to know that you remembered our party!
We’re 44 minutes in.
I am glad DP calls her a dumb idiot — enough with the noble idiocy. (she has been avoiding him because she was working sick? She didnt mind infecting poor taesoo or Beom Jo?)
Shingles are horrible, but you have to take the vaccine first? not sure if its actually curable (my mom had it, for some not small period of time).
@Yep, I’m at a point when he puts her shoes one, lot of romantic gestures the last 5 minutes.
Seems like IH has a whole bunch of things to unload from off her chest to DP. She’s felt looked down upon by him and wanted to tell him off, but it does not give her the sweet sensation of triumph as she expected.
@WE at least this is one time DP and IH are together and her dad is not coincidentally there watching them. That was one repeated coincidence.
No, the brother will think about to take revenge on In-Ha??
@WE, yes, Brother Ki Jae Myung has now got an extra target for his revenge.
It’s amazing that DP can memorise strings of numbers and even recognise one when one of them looks familiar.
Pinocchios dont handle conflicting emotions and imperatives well, do they?
Let it all out InAh! Just let me put your shoes on!
And finally the back hug.
This episode ends like Ep5.
Half with flashbacks, so DP remembers the journalist chief when he meets his brother, and doesn’t reveal he’s the little brother. I don’t remember exactly the police case, but in short understand that with this meeting, he’s about to find someone suscipicious that police signaled him.
Chief Hwang’s voice over about a life-or-death case as the brothers meet each other after 13 years, not knowing that they are going to be on another life-or-death case soon…. is so apt.
I’ll rewatch first half later to make it clear.
Just now I’v to go, I’m out of time today
Bye bye, see yu soon
Bye @WE! I’ll leave now too. Too sleepy!! Bye @IB see you on the threads and next week!
Bye @WE and @GB!
