Love O2O: Ep 24 Highlights

Sniff. Here we go. We only have 6 more episodes left after this.

**********************

1. Going home to sulky Erxi

At work, Weiwei turns in her suggestions on how to improve the family life portion of Nai’s game. She tells him to take his time reading them as she’s going to leave work early. Nai tells her to be careful on her way home.

Aww… every time I hear him tell her goodbye, I remember those lines from the poem he quoted over the phone. “Flowers along the field paths have bloomed, take your time to return.”

He knows that trouble’s brewing for her at home. When she arrives home, she encounters Erxi who’s wallowing in self-pity. Erxi has packed up her bags to move out but Weiwei offers to leave instead.

It’s an awful rainy night to be homeless so who’s she gonna call?

Image result for who you gonna call gif

Of course, Super Xiao Nai.

Nai brings her home and sets her red slippers in front of her.

lol. Erxi, that selfish girl, doesn’t even do that for her! Erxi’s always been the needy one in their relationship while Nai cossets her like she’s royalty. I’ve ignored Erxi and her online love affair with Cao because to me she’s only a plot device. Meaning, she’s a tool to move the plot and show us how kind, nice, admirable, etc., the main characters are.

But now, I’m going to say this about this character. Erxi would have easily forgiven Weiwei if Cao had been in love with her (Erxi) instead of Weiwei. Let’s be honest here. She didn’t mind it when Weiwei was getting the spotlight and she was getting the reflected glory as Weiwei’s friend. But when her object of affection turned out to be crushing on Weiwei, that’s when she resented Weiwei’s beauty. her true colors showed.

Contrary to her reminder Weiwei not to give preference to boyfriends over girlfriends, she herself placed her boyfriend (or lack of it, ha!) before her girlfriend.

2. Staying over at Nai’s

WW: Do you still have work to do? Since I’m here so late at night, am I disturbing you?
Nai: You don’t have to be so careful around me. I’m not used to it.

He means that she should make herself at home, and not be overly polite or formal with him. She’s his girlfriend. Of course, she’s no bother to him. And even if he were busy, it’s alright for her to disturb him because she’s his girlfriend.

WW: Then, you should go back to work. I want some time alone.
Nai: Okay.

And Nai promptly leaves her. To me, he left not because he had urgent work to finish, but that SHE requested time to be by herself.

Later, she changes her mind and seeks out his company. She sits on the floor, and rests her head on his knee. Like a cat. I like how his body yield space to her. He continues with his work, and gives her time to compose herself. Nai was allowing her to “self-soothe”.

She finally opened up.

3. Her “everything”

Her fight with Erxi unsettled her equilibrium because she thought that their relationship was rock-solid. I’m sure she was disturbed by Dieming’s story of her broken relationship with her boyfriend, but this misunderstanding with Erxi is personal. If this can happen between them, then a similar falling-out can happen to her and Nai, too.

WW: What are you working on?
Nai: A tool that uses one’s eye movements to capture important data for mapping and modeling functions.

Nai: Are you feeling better?
WW: Erxi doesn’t want to live with me so I’m moving out. (Nai puts a hand on her nape.) I said that if someone should leave, then I should leave.

Nai: Smart girl. You knew where to go. Get up. let’s eat something.

WW: Xiao Nai. Will we ever quarrel in the future?
Nai: No.

WW: Why won’t we?
Nai: Because we can solve all problems without quarreling.

WW: Then, you won’t get angry with me, no matter what I do?
Nai: I won’t.

WW: Will we always have a good relationship?
Nai: Yes.

WW: But I used to think that Erxi and I would have a good relationship.
Nai: Weiwei. She’s just a very small part of your life. I’m your everything.

Let me explain this, ok? I’ve read a couple of a couple of posts from girls indignant that Nai should downplay Erxi’s role in Weiwei’s life as “best friend.”

As corny as Nai may sound, he’s right, and the the writer is right to espouse this view. If Weiwei and Nai expect to have a long-lasting happy marriage then they better be each other’s best friend and “everything”.

Sure, Weiwei has Erxi, Xiaoling and Sisi as friends. She’s also added Nai’s friends, Old Man, Monkey, Mozarta and KO, to her circle. And in the future, she’ll make more friends. But her husband should definitely be her BEST friend. She’s pledging to spend her whole life with him, through good times and bad times. It would be terrible if he were at the level of an “average” friend. Furthermore, that’s the whole point of FORSAKING all others in the marriage vow. The bride and groom are declaring to everyone who’s witnessing their union that their spouses will come first in everything. If there’s an emotional connection or dependence with another person that takes precedence over the relationship with the spouse, then perhaps marriage should be held off.

So Nai’s right.

4. Her future tears

This next scene could have been funny if it weren’t for Nai’s seriousness.

Image result for don't cry for me argentina gif

Nai: In the future, you’re not allowed to cry because of others. I’ve never even made you cry.
WW: Who says you haven’t? I cried when you didn’t come for the championship final back then.
Nai: Were you really sad then?
WW: Yes.

But the other thing that was sweet about this moment was his discovery that she cried when the car accident prevented him from showing up at the championship game. Weiwei hadn’t told him that she cried because she thought he disappeared and would never show up again. But, in turn, he didn’t tell her either that he had been tracking her every moment online all that time. She was unaware that he had been there with her all along while she was watching their video over and over again.

If she was doubting his words that he’d always be with her based on that incident, then she would have been reassured if she knew the whole story. But if viewers have been paying attention, Nai only explained himself his actions to her once and that was after he PK’ed Sheng Zhuang. The rest of the time he doesn’t clue her in on the things he does for her, including the recent deletion of her videos online and his confrontation with Cao. Those were done secretly.

And why is that?

Because, despite his corny jokes and over-the-top pronouncement (see the list that @agdr03 compiled for us), Nai isn’t the type to brag about his deeds.

5. Late-night dinner

WW: I haven’t had dinner yet.
Nai: Come give me a hand.

And he gives her his piece of meat again. Aww… I just like it when he attends to her needs first before his. It appeals to my diva-ness. lol.

WW: I think I’ll have to borrow money again. I don’t have enough to stay at a hotel.
Nai: You should stay here. (She’s speechless.) It’s too late. Let’s make do for tonight. I’ll move back to my parents’ tomorrow.
WW: No. No. It’s okay.
Nai: You mean, I don’t have to move back to my parent’s place? Okay.

He stares at her while taking a bite of the noodles; he’s daring her to correct him when he knows that THAT isn’t what she means.

He’s being naughty.

WW: I don’t want to trouble you.
Nai: Actually, I’m very worried that you’ll be staying here.
WW: I won’t do anything to you.

lol. She’s so innocent! She’s telling him that she has NO design on his “virtue” whatsoever so he shouldn’t worry about her sleeping there. But did she really think a guy would protest if the girl made the moves on him??

Nai: I don’t mind THAT (meaning, it’s okay if she makes advances at him) but you’ll find out that some of my skills aren’t perfected yet.
WW: What skills?

lol. Again, I don’t know if she understands how funny this conversation is. He’s saying that he doesn’t mind if she makes the moves on him (i.e., flirts, seduces, etc.) but his SKILLS aren’t perfected yet. If you have a dirty mind (like me, hahaha), you’d expect Nai to answer something like, “kissing skills,” “hugging skills,” or “lovemaking skills.” He would have needed to hone those skills if she was to make an amorous move on him.

Nai: Cooking. I can only make noodles. (lol. He’s teasing her.)
WW: There are things you’re not good at? I thought you were good at everything.
Nai: It’s obvious that I’ve lowered your IQ hence the wrong assessment. Come on, eat. Then do the dishes. I remember that’s your specialty.
WW: Yes sir.

We should have known that he wasn’t going to be good a cooking. On their first date, he told her that his family always ate at the restaurant. He wasn’t a neglected child but his parents seemed to be talented academicians who obsess about their work and forget everything else.

And if he didn’t meet Weiwei, he would have gone with this kind of austere and abstemious lifestyle. Having only one pair of slippers. Surviving on noodles. Working after coming home from work. Having Weiwei around, even if she’s down-in-the-dumps right now, is infinitely better than being alone.

6. Going to bed

Nai: You can wear these pajamas. Go shower. There’s a new toothbrush in the cabinet. Use my toiletries for now.

Weiwei looks awkward at first but she goes and does it. Personally, if I’m not related to the guy (like, he is NOT my husband), I’d feel awkward about using his bar soap to wash my body because “It touched his body!!!”

Not only that, I’ll come out smelling like him. Ewwww. Gross.

Nai: They fit you.
WW: I’m going to shower. Get some sleep. I’ll take the couch. Get another blanket for me from the closet.

Weiwei offers to take the couch instead. Feeling mischievous, he deliberately misunderstands her and tells that the couch is too small for both of them. He’s implying that Weiwei wants to sleep on the couch, too, to be together with him. He’s teasing her because she said earlier that “I won’t do anything to you.”

7. Touching his things = she’ll get cooties!!!!

Now because of all his innuendos, Weiwei becomes shy about touching his things.

Like his bed. She’s about to touch it but she retracts her hand because it’s HIS bed.

WW: This is Dashen’s bed.

She gets a new blanket for him from the closet, as he requested, then remembers that his USED blanket is on the bed so she switches the blankets.

The great blanket switcheroo.

hahaha. I guess @agdr03 was right. She didn’t notice that, when Nai picked her up from the hospital, he was wearing the same shirt that she’d worn the night before. She would have died of embarrassment.)

Thinking he’s done with his shower, she suddenly jumps on the bed and pretends to sleep. That’s when she realizes that Nai only one pillow.

WW: (thinking) Dashen’s pillow? Don’t tell me he only has one pillow?

She then creeps out and puts his pillow on the couch.

Do you understand why she’s fussing about the pillow? Because, just like the blanket, it has his SCENT on it. (Not to mention drool. He probably drooled on it, too. lololol.) Bedsheet and pillows are just too intimate for her to share with him.

Nai comes out of the bathroom and notices the pillow on the couch.

Nai: You don’t want the pillow?
WW: Your pillow’s too thick. I’m not used to it.

Again, this is a funny scene because it tells me how childish Weiwei can get. There’s nothing wrong with Nai’s things. But her childish brain is telling her that she should NOT be touching his things because she might get pregnant it’s improper.

8. Turning off the lights

Nai: I’ll turn off the lights now.
WW: Okay.

Nai turns off the lights in the living room and they both notice that the bedroom light is left on. Weiwei jumps off the bed (we know why she’s so skittish, right?) telling him that she’ll turn it off herself. But she couldn’t find the switch.

She doesn’t know that the lamp has a floor switch and Nai steps on it turning the whole room into darkness. She startles and she turns around to face him. They stand there staring at each other like they’re frozen in time.

I’m sure they’re breathing. But honestly, I would have keeled over had I held my breath that long. If I knew Weiwei, she must have been trying not to make the slightest movement lest he pounced on her. And Nai must have known that Weiwei wasn’t ready for physical intimacy because after what seems to be an eternity, he tells her to “get some rest” and walks to his couch.

9.  The morning after

This is funny, too. Nai’s already awake so he notices when she wakes up but pretends to sleep some more. He’s grinning at her. Who wouldn’t? She’s pretending she’s still half-asleep by muffling her voice.

He tells her to wash up as they’re going jogging and she instantly jolts up to sitting position to protest “What? But I don’t have any jogging clothes.”

See that? She took the bait. She should have pretended not to hear him because she’s still half-asleep. Right?

So, Nai says, “I do” and she sighs. This is just so like the swim party; he steamrollers her with his plans and she has to go along with them. She’s bad at lying. The only aspect of their relationship that he can’t bulldoze her is the physical intimacy. She gets her way there.

She borrows a white tshirt from him and wears her old skirt.

WW: In school, I go jogging everyday at the track.
Nai: How come I never saw you, (hahaha. liar liar pants on fire!) when I went jogging at the track? I guess I woke up earlier than you. (he grins as he speeds off)
WW: (talking to herself) I saw you. (she laughs at the memory of her turning back when she chanced upon Nai at the track.) Hey, my legs aren’t as long as yours. Wait up!

I like how he puts his hand on the back of the neck. He’s done last night when she was talking about Erxi. This hand gesture indicates a protectiveness and also a desire to show shelter or express comfort.

They met Nai’s parents’ colleague who points at Weiwei and asks, “And this is?” Nai looks at Weiwei, saying “This is my girlfriend, Weiwei” and in turn, he introduces the economic professor, Li Cheng. After exchanging greetings, Nai speeds up again and Weiwei follows him. They leave the professor calling up his son to scold him, “Kid! When are you going to get a girlfriend and get married? You’re nearly 30 now! Look at Xiao Nai! He’s only 22 and he’s brought home a girlfriend.”

lol.

Nai: Breakfast at home or dine out?
WW: Dine out! I mean, there’s a huge discrepancy between your looks and your noodles. They taste so-so.
Nai: You’re complaining about me already?
WW: No way! I’m just being honest. I know a good place. I’ll take you. (She grabs his hand and tugs him with her.) Come on, let’s go.

6 Comments On “Love O2O: Ep 24 Highlights”

  1. Nooooo…. we’re only 6 episodes away from saying our final goodbye? 😭 I don’t think I’ll ever be ready but I’m sure there’s always hope for another drama for our Yang Yang and Zheng Shuang 🙂

    Some thoughts for this one.

1 – I love it every time he says something that means he really does care. I agree with Erxi being a plot device. I just like her teasing of WeiWei together with the other girls.

2 – There’s a supportive boyfriend, not only does he let you have your own time but is willing to give you the space to think about things.

3 and 4 – That scene is one of my favorite scene because they were discussing about the future, about things that can or may happen as a couple. Communication is very very important. I agree that Nai was right because like you said a couple is made up of two people, not three. I especially love that reassurance from Nai and that kiss on her head.

5 – I wish the director gave us a more naughty Dashen AND WeiWei! LOL! I’m not winging. Hopefully in their next drama! 🤞 WeiWei’s innocence is very funny! I was laughing at your explanation! 😃

6 – I bet they’ve had a few spoon-ing while WeiWei was at his place in the sofa. LOL!

7 – Look at this girl! She got through high school and didn’t have a boyfriend till college so she doesn’t understand what she can and cannot touch. 😄

But her childish brain is telling her that she should NOT be touching his things because she might get pregnant it’s improper.

Can you believe me if I say I used to think like that? 😜

8 – That was quite a long scene and yes I would have had to exhale at some point. hehehe But I have to give it to Dashen because he didn’t even kiss her goodnight. Which means he’s really holding back! Poor guy! LOL!

9 – Me too! I like that pat behind the head that he gave her. Thought that was sweet! 😍

  2. Look at this youtube of Yang Yang. It’s a 2019 Pepsi Mini Film. He’s cute as a Dad too right? 🙂

    I miss him! ☺️

  3. Yes. He’s a cutie-pie alright. Thanks for sharing!

But do they really have commercials this long in China?? I was fine watching it the first time but I’d be pissed off every time they show a SEVEN-minute commercial in-between my shows.

Maybe they just showed segments on tv, like parts of the story, and this was the long form?

I’d definitely wait to see Yang Yang on a commercial. lol.

  4. I don’t know actually. But it would be hard to watch a 7 minute commercial while watching a show. If it’s all Yang Yang though, I won’t complain. Feast for my eyes! 😍😂

  5. Okay, I’ll give you that. If it’s a 7 min all-Yang Yang (portraying a good character) commercial, I’m in, too. 👍

I don’t think I ever want to see this actor playing a murderer or a rapist. 🙅‍♀️

  6. High five Chingu! 🙌🏻☺️ No way can we ever see him as an evil playing character.

Im going to share this now because I’m totally into him 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve been watching Martial Universe in Viki. 60 episodes and I’m on 45. I just wanted to see a different side to him and I did. The series itself is underwhelming and it wasn’t a hit when it went to air last year. I just watched it because of Yang Yang.

I think this character of his, Lin Dong is closer to his real self maybe. He’s a happy go lucky guy, immature/stubborn at times but his got a good heart and loves his family. There’s a few funny scenes there and I thought oh ‘that’s the Yang Yang that graduated in dancing school’. 😄

Anyway I thought I’d just share this. All for the love of Yang Yang. 😊
