Thanks @pkml3. How nice to get another thread for this show. From the few posts, though, I’m not sure how many are watching and reading. This is still a fun watch, with anticipation on how the noona romance will come about.

  2. I’m here with you @GB! 🙂 I am enjoying this drama.

Thank you for this new thread, Queen!

  3. I watched all 4 episodes today! Anxious to see how working with her old friend/minion will go

  4. I’m still watching this and waiting what will happen next. Thks for the opening this thread.

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Great to see you here @agdr03 and @birdie007!! Yes, I’m wondering if old friend will be a friend or foe. I’m thinking that by the end of show, all the ‘old friends’ will be good together. Anyway, that’s what I’m expecting based on the tone of show and the kind of characters we’ve got! I’m hoping for lots of warm fuzzies!!
    ☆⌒c(´∀`)ノ

  6. Hello to @birdie007 and @M 🙂

Maybe you’re right @GB because they are all connected back in high school. I hope old friend will still be a friend to Ha-ni.

I have to say that was some effort from Anthony in catching all those sashimi for the scriptwriter. LOL! I’m wondering how his company is surviving at all with just him as their artist? Or maybe his not the only one?

  7. Thank you packmule3!! I enjoy this drama so far.. it is also nice to see the relationship between the female leads, i believe it will grow beautifully in the future although they don’t seem get along now..

My “girl power mindset” is a little bit torn when the mother in law of Hani’s old friend told her to tone down her act. I mean… why… the husband himself supported her.. i saw him smiling anyway.. so i guess he is proud of her too.. this is why it is so hard for female employees to really show their potentials in the workplace. Even the other woman sometimes attack her.. 😔

  8. I agree, moon star 512. I thought YuHyeon’s aunt was a nice one so I was taken aback when she accused her daughter-in-law of trying to upstage her son to earn points from the chairman. If her son was fine with his wife’s boardroom tactics then she should leave the married couple alone. Defending her son like that only makes her son looks incompetent.

Perhaps her son likes a strong wife who’s not afraid to go against him, take a counter position, and get the job down. But in the mother’s eyes, daughter-in-law is shameless.

It’s too early to judge the dynamics of their marriage, anyway.

  9. Yes @packmule3 I thought she was nice too. Until she accused her daughter in law and after she met with Yu Hyeon and told someone to follow him and report to her. Also as I watched episode 6, I keep feeling uncomfortable towards YuHyeon’s auntie. Is she plotting something towards his own brother (Yu Hyeon’s father)…

About Ji Eun (Ha Ni’s bestfriend in high school).. I really hope they will mend their relationship in the future. I think it was a misunderstanding after all. Can’t wait for the next episodes..

  10. Agree. Hani and her best friend JiEun will undoubtedly reconcile in the end.

I thought it was very thoughtful of young JiEun to write a diary for Hani to cheer her up. I don’t think Hani has ever apologized for throwing the gift away and mocking JiEun’s orphanhood. That’ll be part of their healing.

And I don’t blame JiEun for getting angry when Hani messed up the delivery. Who wouldn’t?

Yes Episode 6 was loads of fun. I must have laughed my way through half of it. It was great to see that adult Ha Ni has great resourcefulness and has retained a heart for the underdog. Not only does her bravery explode in times of helping others, but she gets into action and makes it worthwhile. It was good to see her smile.

I like how Show has made Ha Ni look really squid like with her hair style/fringe and hair colour and laughed out loud when she sat in the little car with the ‘real squid inside’ ad on it. Antony as the happy, dancing squid was hilarious, especially when I played that scene at high speed. It was a great completion of the squid cycle, since Antony had denigrated Ha Ni when she was in her squid costume and this time he had to wear it and make a fool of himself.

Young Ha Ni is real a handful. Putting milk into Antony’s drink was such a dirty trick, and then she couldn’t leave well alone but had to threaten him as well. Fortunately she’s feisty enough to take on Antony’s goons. Although we don’t want her to become downtrodden like adult Ha Ni, she needs to be shown that she is not entitled to get away with everything she wants.

We seem to be entering the sphere of corporate-family rivalry for top position in the next episodes. I assume nice CEO Han is looking for a replacement CEO due to his bad health and sister dear will want herself or her son to get the position.

It seems that the resentment over the break in friendship with Ha Ni and over being the one passed over for Ha Ni still rises strongly in Oh Ji Eun. She’s got her own demons to eradicate while sucking up to her mum-in-law, and dealing with no longer being so cool, as long as Ha Ni starts to shine near her.

*Sigh* after watching a show of people enjoying snacks and how happy snacks makes them, I’m in the mood to munch some as well. But it’s lunchtime and I’m not snacking today.

  12. Anthony’s Squid dance on episode six was such fun to watch. LOL
He’s even better than Hani. Hehe
Unfortunately, his character with that shiny bob hair in Fiery Priest seemed to be stucked in my mind. Whenever I see the actor, I get reminded of that hair. Ha.

I do wonder if they’re going to make the nice cousin turn to the dark side. His mom is apparently up to something and is really not as nice as she first appears to be.

  13. I agree @M, Anthony’s squid dance was funny 😁

I liked the best friends singing and dancing at the karaoke. I’m liking that song now too, it’s very catchy. 😁 Even the office exercise is cool. 😂

Did anyone notice that YH has tears in his eyes too in the scene where Ha-ni was crying by herself and he was just watching her behind? And when she was crying while he was giving her a piggyback. 🙁

I’m really liking that he is there to help her and at the same time she’s getting the courage to be stronger and not just give up once something goes wrong.

  14. @agdr03

Same here, I’m happy that she has him for company since young Hani sometimes could be a handful. And even though she lived with her sister for years but they don’t seem to be that close. So it’s good for her to have her own space.

I just wonder why YH’s personality was different when he was very young. He seemed more timid then, was it Hani’s superman influence that made him study so many stuff. He seemed to be skillful and quick to adapt. His knowledge in cooking could be useful since their company makes snacks. He could develop new kinds of snacks.

  15. I was worried that Anthony’s manager and assistant merely concocted that bit of good news about the casting call, to make him perk up for the dance. But it seemed like the manager was telling the truth.

The nice cousin looked happy just watching his wife enjoy herself at the “noraebang” or karaoke room. He seemed to be a kind-hearted fellow like YuHyeong, only more responsible. Perhaps because he grew up without a father and with an overbearing mother?

  16. @packmule3 I also don’t blame JiEun for snack incident.. HaNi seems to be easily distracted from what she has to do. I thought she would start the mess when she chase the young HaNi in kelp costume.. and as for the diary yes it was very toughtful of her. That’s why I think JiEun was sincerely support HaNi back then.. but the young HaNi seems to be too emotional and she failed to see her sincere gesture and instead she hurt her..

Yes @agdr03 I also like the songs they sang together at the karaoke. Do you know the title of that song?

I also like the song in Squid Snack Commercial hahahaha.. 😂 it was fun to watch Antony dancing like that..

I got this vibe of Love Revolution drama (did anyone watch this?) on YH case. He seems to be skillful yes.. and he is a fast learner. He just doesn’t know what happened with his dad so he’s kinda YOLO mode on.. I hope to see more of his character development in the future where I can see he pursues his dream or purpose.. and I agree with @M his cooking skill should benefit the company in creating their new snacks flavor..

Oh and yeah I noticed YH’s teary eyes.. especially on the piggyback scene and HaNi told him that she missed her dad. 🥺 this scene made me a little bit teary eyed too.. It makes me remember that, from time to time there will always be a moment when we miss our father so much but he is not here with us.. and we just cry..

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Episodes 7 and 8 – We’re at the halfway mark and it’s good that now practically everyone knows that adult Ha Ni and Anthony were high school mates, the guys have started vying for Ha Ni’s attention, Ha Ni’s mum and grandma have come to Seoul and show is as funny as ever. I was chortling loudly more than once. Show continues to be a bright spark with heartfelt relationships and just 1 antagonist to add the conflict.

I liked the side story of the timid, bullied girl who turned on her bullies and gave them ‘hell’ in order to defend her friends who’d tried to stand up for her. A foreshadowing, I guess, for how Ha Ni too will locate her backbone once again and be more like the young Ha Ni she was.

The other side story of CEO’s nephew and wife, Seo Jin was surprisingly interesting. Another long disregarded and ill-used character, Seo Jin too needs to stand up to her surprisingly nasty MIL. It’s great that her relationship with husband, Do Yun is so sweet.

And the weird duo, Young Goo and Il Goo who seem to add nothing except hijinks to the show, have not been forgotten as well! I can’t imagine wanting to break a world record for touching one’s head with one’s leg *painful!*
    ✌✌(˵¯̴͒ꇴ¯̴͒˵)✌✌

  18. I’m updated with this show and it’s lovely. I’m even finding YH funny whenever his wining to his Dad. hehehe

And just like that we have two men fighting over Ha Ni 🙂

I’m scared for Seo Jin with her last scene with her holding on to her tummy. Is she pregnant?

  19. @M, I believe you’re right about HN’s superwoman influence on YH that made him have those qualifications. It was a long list too. hehehe Maybe something happened with his Mom, that’s why he’s acting immature still. But I really liked that he’s there for HN always.

@moonstar512, sorry I don’t know the song that HN and SJ sang at the karaoke. One thing is for sure though, this drama has good OST’s. 🙂

  20. I’m loving ha ni’s new confidence and life improvement, but I’m actually more interested in ji eun and her husband. How did they meet? How did they marry despite her MIL being so obviously against it?
Why gluten free vs but/dairy free?
Why does Netflix insist on subbing with old lady instead of just saying ahjumma?
Are they really going to make the nephew have a weird crush on his time traveling aunt?

  21. The episode was good except maybe for the chasing the fake ghost scene, that went long. 😁 Hani is finally able to open up about her Dad to her Mom and sister. Yes, she’s definitely more stronger and determined to have a full happy life. 🙌🏻

I liked that YH actually said seriously to Anthony that he wants to be Superman to Hani. ☺️ For all his goofing around he was dead serious then even with his pouting face. I liked that adult Hani is having that special attention from YH. ☺️

Though it’s getting to me as well whenever YH calls Hani ‘old lady’. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was right about SJ being pregnant! 😍 Their scene was sweet. I can’t wait when she shares the news to Hani. Maybe that’ll pave the way for the besties to reconcile for good.

I hope the MIL don’t do too much nasty in story. I want to keep this drama light and no more dying.

  22. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@agdr03 Ep 9 was another fun episode. I was wondering why we spent so much time on chasing the fake ghost. Was that a metaphor for something else that our characters are doing?

Are they wasting time masquerading (like the ghost or Anthony or Han Ji Sook (sister of CEO Han)), are they chasing after something fantastical that turns out to be ordinary? I don’t think so. But they do have someone fantastical and fantastic in their midst, and they don’t even know it: young Ha Ni who is from another time, and who’s over-confident nature makes her a force to be reckoned with. And she’s also the one who grows up to be the ordinary, but stouthearted adult Ha Ni.

I’m happy for Ji Eun that she’s pregnant, and really like her husband. It’s rare to have a man of a rich family, who as a son who sides with his wife against his mother, and who’s good friends with his cousin instead of being a rival.

I am thinking that Halmeoni’s meeting with young Ha Ni might be something that shakes her temporarily out of her dementia. She’s been obviously concerned about Ha Ni who had taken the brunt of responsibility for dad’s death, and who had added self-blame to her troubled young life. Seeing a confident young Ha Ni, might give Halmeoni some peace of mind.

It’s good that adult Ha Ni is not like many clueless drama females who never dated and who does not know she’s being courted. She has not wizened up to Anthony’s change of heart, but at least she is noticing Yu Hyeon’s efforts, and he’s been above board and open with her. His smile is such a room brightener!

About the couple in the workplace … it did occur to me that they were laying on their hatred for each other pretty thick. I wondered if they were hamming it up for the show or trying to mislead everyone. It seems to be the latter case. Since Ha Ni has found out, her life in the company with the team will get easier.

Oh I missed the crazy duo, Young Goo and Il Goo. Maybe they’ll turn up in Ep 10.

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Minor quibble, I rather wish show wouldn’t have characters using religious articles in an inappropriate way, not just Christian ones but all kinds. Ep 9 had the crucifix bandied as a talisman against the ‘ghost’ and then when ghost ran off, it was unceremoniously tossed aside to the ground as everyone ran after the ‘ghost’. Rather disrespectful.

  24. @GB 👋🏻 sorry I didn’t get to reply to you the other night. Yes, episode 9 was nice and funny. ☺️

I haven’t seen episode 10 but like you I like JE and her husband. Actually everyone is likeable that’s why I’m hoping the Aunty doesn’t get too evil here. Im really liking the scenes of Hani and YH. They make my heart flutter even more than Ondal and Gajin. ☺️

I agree about the use of religious articles. It was very disrespectful.

The garlic was fine though. 😆 I’m glad that fake ghost was sorted though.

  25. Our snack for the competition has been approved by young Hani. I want to taste it too. LOL!

I thought the scene at YH’s home with the announcement of JE’s pregnancy was nice especially with YH and Dad trying to shhhh’s each other. heheheh I thought the MIL was genuinely happy for the news too.

What’s with all the food in the three dramas I’m watching not being eaten? Well except for Han Seo in V, he ate his food. Such a waste to see them not being touched or eaten!

@GB, were you happy that Young Goo and Il Goo turned up in episode 10 and even gave Hani an idea? 🙂

I wish YH’s Dad will just tell him about his illness.

  26. I forgot to add about Anthony saying he’s probably partly to blame for Hani’s father’s accident. I wonder what part he played then.

  27. @agdr03 I wondered too. Yes didn’t go rewatch but is he the one that spilled the beans about her being at the audition???

  28. @Birdie007, sorry I can’t remember about him spilling the beans. But I can imagine him doing it because it won’t be bestie nor Hani’s sister nor YH.

  29. Like you, I’m not sure why Anthony was blaming himself.

My first guess was the audition. If he didn’t relent to Hani’s pleas and help her play hooky, then her father wouldn’t have chased her. But then, I thought that he was carrying his guilt a bit too far. 🙂

Anyway, that scene when they were posing as a family for the camera looked cute. He looked like he would have been “whipped” if he had a wife like Hani and daughter like Scarlett. Poor man.

  30. Agh…married couples who aren’t communicating stress me out. This is about to snowball and I’m not excited about it. Still not interested in the romance…surprisingly, I like watching Anthony and young ha ni together. Maybe still influenced after watching takana and Hana, ha!
I really enjoy the actress playing ji eun. Watching her facial expressions while talking with young and old hani was 💯

  31. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Episodes 11 and 12.
I’m glad that Ha Ni has changed her hair style. She no longer looks like a squid, but like a competent woman who has regained self-confidence.

I continue to enjoy all the interactions sans those with greedy aunty. Her machinations to buy up company shares has led to the most upsetting corruption or near corruption of good people, her son, Ji Eun and even Seung Seok. Even if they didn’t do anything bad, they are all tainted by knowing what aunty has done and their peace of mind has been affected.

While it’s good that Ji Eun did not leave any documentary evidence of plagiarism in Ha Ni’s computer, I do wish she could confide in her husband and spare him the need to be loyal towards her. Tough, I guess, since it’s his mother who’s the instigator.

I did wonder at first why CEO Han didn’t just let his sister take over the company, since she’s been with him in the company all these years. It might have been that he knew of her greed, and was determined to have someone else take over before having it passed on to Yu Hyeon. Also if she’d had the chairmanship, she’d have bypassed Yu Hyeon in favour of her own son.

The high tech shaman is still such a hoot with the many iPads of food, nicely coloured and arranged LOL. It was fun except that the supernatural element has taken on a more interesting and troubling twist, with Grandma able to speak to someone unseen and who knows that Ha Ni needs to answer her old phone as a matter of life and death. We have yet to be shown who wanted Ha Ni to meet her future self, but at a guess it would have been Ha Ni’s dad.

Now that the 2 Ha Nis have met, the heavens have lost balance, and young Ha Ni is in danger of meeting death in the current time. Instead of being able to look forward to a rainy day and going home, they now have to fear the shadow of death that comes with the rain. What will happen to the current Ha Ni if the young Ha Ni dies?

It’s a relief that Yu Hyeon can share some of Ha Ni’s burden. She’s been keeping so much back from her young self. Perhaps it would be better to let young Ha Ni know more about what will happen so that she will not be in shock upon her return.

Young Ha Ni continues to have the ability to pep talk people into better decisions. She did it before with young Yu Hyeon, and now again with adult Anthony. She’s a handful but generally a source for change for the better. Her delight in seeing Ji Eun pregnant and her advice to apologise to her was well taken.

I continue to look forward to the last 4 episodes.

  32. Episodes of this drama continue to get better and better, which is refreshing because some dramas lose momentum and sputter to a finish.

There was much I liked in eps. 13 & 14, but what touched my heart the most was the healing of the relationship between Yu Hyeon and his father, Chairman Han. From the beginning we could see they loved each other despite the dad being disappointed in his son’s lifestyle choices, and the son being frustrated that his dad didn’t appreciate what he’d accomplished. Now YH is committed to helping his father and Joa Confectionery through their crisis, no longer seeing the company as competing with him for his father’s affection. Chairman Han may not longer have use of his eyes, but he can see his son’s heart and competence much better now. Those two are finally on the same page. What a blessing for both of them!

I also like how adult Ha Ni’s care and kindness is having a positive influence on her old friend Ji Eun, giving JE courage to speak to both her mother-in-law and husband and urge them to stop their destructive behavior. She’s quiet, but has backbone.

Anthony’s trouble seems ripped out of recent headlines, but the arc of his character’s story in Hello, Me was set long before the recent sinking of a certain Kdrama star’s career due to allegations of his being a school bully. I did find it heartwarming that young Ha Ni felt compelled to comfort Anthony, knowing he’s a softie inside despite his gruff exterior; knowing that Anthony was guilty of bullying and lying about plastic surgery, she still chose to be a friend to him. My guess is that when she returns to her own time, she’ll be a bit kinder to Yang Chun Sik and a positive influence on him and his future.

There are a couple of style choices now being made by this drama that irk me. Why must Chairman Han wear dark glasses now that he’s lost his eyesight? And why must he ride in a wheelchair? The director either doesn’t trust us to believe, or the actor to believably portray, the degeneration of the character’s sight. In my opinion, use of the dark glasses and the wheelchair to signal blindness is lazy filmmaking. In real life, if Chairman Han had a degenerative condition leading to eventual loss of his vision, long before he went fully blind he would have been started occupational therapy to help him develop coping skills.

  33. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Happy Easter!

I celebrate with the wonderfully heart-warming episodes 13 and 14. This drama certainly knows how to tug at heartstrings. I teared up more than once over all those relationships.

It’s such a relief that Ha Ni’s mum and sister are now on the same page as Ha Ni, and she’s no longer coping with so much while trying to keep it all hidden.

It’s also so good that Ha Ni now knows who Yu Hyeon is and can support him anyway she can.

It’s been a great tale of growing up, of reconciliation and of dealing with the less than unblemished past. Young Ha Ni and Anthony have both to come to terms with choices past or still to be made, to make recompense and to move on.

The noona romance is extremely believable and sweet. Kudos to our OTP for making it so convincing.

I expect a bitter-sweet ending this week, as we say goodbye to young Ha Ni and enjoy an adult Ha Ni who has become so much better in herself, and in relation with Ji Eun, with her mum, and her sister.
