What Are We Watching in August 2024?

Have any of your shows been adjourned until after the Olympics? My favorite variety show “2D1N” resumes broadcast on Sunday, August 18th. I’m still bummed out that Na InWoo (“Marry My Husband”) and Yeon JungHoon (“Vampire Prosecutor”) have left the show, along with their main producing director – or PD, for short – PD Lee JungKyu. While I like PD Lee for injecting plenty of cultural, historical, and culinary info about their destinations, I find his personality a bit dour.

To me, the PD functions like a seventh member of the cast and his interaction with the regular crew is a source of impromptu comedy. I still remember the episode when the members went on a strike against PD Yoo HoJin for extreme labor conditions. Armed with a list of grievances, the crew were at first defiant. But in the end, they were ruefully bargaining with PD Yoo to take them back. Then, there was this episode when the cast improvised a game of fish. The guys were to be paid for every picture of fish they would randomly find in a magazine. One lucky member, however, found a photo of a net full of fish, causing PD Yoo to collapse in shock. With his production budget in ruins, he must negotiate.

Season 3 is still the best season for me.

Though I’ll continue to watch the next season, I’m not looking forward to one new member. Here are the new additions:

PD Joo JongHyun. If he’s who I think he is (i.e., the PD who threw up while filming on a rocky boat trip), then he’s funny. He looks like he’s easily flustered. I can see the veterans harassing even bullying him so he’ll have to push back harder.

Lee Joon. I don’t mind Lee Joon (“Bulgasal” and ex-MBLAQ). I think he’ll add more wickedness to the game.

Jo SeHo/Cho SeHo. But I’m appalled with this new member. His tv persona grates on me. He appears sycophantic, toadying, greasy, unfunny, and trying hard. If you watched “Yoo Quiz on the Block,” you’d know what I mean. One time, he got roasted by the show’s guest, Cho SeungWoo, for his gold Rolex watch. His on-screen personality made me wonder if he had a Napoleonic complex. He over-compensates because he’s short and pudgy.

I’m hoping that the 2D1N will reconsider him. But for now, I have no choice but to temporarily block my previous impressions of him and to hold off judgment until I see what he brings to the show.

Aside from 2D1N, “Serendipity’s Embrace” (four more episodes), and the cdrama “The Princess Royal” (yes, yes, my impression is in the works), I have these shows in sight.

1. Love Next Door

2024 must be the year of the romcoms. After “Marry My Husband,” “Lovely Runner,” and “Serendipity’s Embrace,” we have this.

Blurb from soompi:

Jung So Min will star as Bae Seok Ryu, a woman who tries to reboot her troubled life after it goes awry. Jung Hae In will star as her mom’s friend’s son Choi Seung Hyo, whom she considers a dark chapter in her life.

Choi Seung Hyo is perfect in every way—looks, personality, and ability. As the head of an architectural firm and a young, notable architect, his peaceful life is disrupted when Bae Seok Ryu makes a comeback, causing perilous trouble to emerge.

Cast: Jung SoMin (“Alchemy of Souls, Season 1”) and Jung HaeIn (“D.P.”)

Just a quick comment. Ms. Jung SoMin is 35 years old while Mr. Jung HaeIn is 36. Despite their mature age, they both look young and act cutesy. I wonder which of the two will win the aegyo competition in this show. The director and screenwriter worked together on “Hometown Cha Cha Cha,” and we know how THAT went.

Episodes: 16 (hope they have enough to fill 16 episodes)
Start Date: Saturday, Aug 17
Airs on Saturdays and Sundays
Where to Watch it: Netflix
Network: tvN

2. The Frog

Because even I need a break from the saccharine romcoms, I’ll try this suspense drama.

From soompi:

“The Frog” is a mystery thriller about two pension owners who live in different timelines: Gu Sang Jun (Yoon Kye Sang), who runs a motel in the past, and Jeon Young Ha (Kim Yun Seok), who runs a pension in the present. When similar incidents occur to each man, the two make completely different decisions.

Apparently, the English title is very different from the original Korean title. The Korean title is “Inside the Forest With No One Around.” I’m making a guess that the frog refers to an unsuspecting, unwary, or naive person who fails to see the connections in events – or the Big Picture, as we say – thus he’s trapped by his circumstances. He has to get his head out of the sand to escape danger.

Cast: Kim Yun Seok (never heard), Yoon Kye Sang (“Kiss Sixth Sense”), Go Min Si (“Sweet Home”), Lee Jung Eun (“Miss Night and Day”)
Episodes: 8 (I don’t know if all 8 episodes will drop on one day)
Start Date: Friday, Aug 23
Airs on Friday
Where to Watch it: Netflix
Network: Netflix

3. No Gain, No Love

Another fluffy romcom involving contractual marriage. Shin MinAh plays an executive who hires a cashier at a convenience store to pretend to be her fiancé.

Cast: Shin MinAh (who doesn’t know who Shin MinAh?!), Kim Young Dae (“Moon in the Day”)
Episodes: 12
Start Date: Monday, Aug 26
Airs on Mondays and Tuesdays
Where to Watch it: Viki?
Network: tvN

As for cdramas, I’ve jumped on the Zhang LingHe bandwagon, so I’m going to be occupied this month. After I finish “The Princess Royal” (cross fingers), I’m starting his “Love’s Rebellion.”

4. Love’s Rebellion

Blurb from mydramalist:

It tells the story of a young girl named Nan Yan who enters the world of immortals to save her mother and accidentally forms a fateful bond with a “heart lock.” The story revolves around Nan Yan, a skilled doctor who is forced to embark on a journey in the world of immortals to save her mother.

Through a series of coincidences, she forms a mystical connection called the “Spiritual Connection Seal” with the enigmatic Emperor Ji Yang, who conceals his true identity. Nan Yan is practical and down-to-earth, while Ji Yang is aloof and mysterious, embodying the essence of a true immortal. Initially, the two dislike each other, but as they investigate Nan Yan’s mother’s illness, they become entangled in a conspiracy within the world of immortals.

Cast: Zhang LingHe, Jing Tian (don’t know her but then I don’t know a lot of Chinese actresses)
Episodes: 36 (oh no!!!!!)
Start Date: Wed, July 31
Airs on ?? I don’t know
Where to Watch it: Hopefully, Viki will carry it soon
Network: iQiYi

What are you watching this August?

51 Comments On “What Are We Watching in August 2024?”

  1. I’m rewatching 365.
Will start “roulette”, maybe “red swan”.
Is it me or kdramas are less good this year?
    Or are like american series?

  2. I started Connection. I have 365 on my list as well.

  3. @SF I have both thse on my list right now.

  4. I am also interested in Blackout and Queen Woo, but I am not sure about US availability.
I am still watching Serendipity’s Embrace, an excellent palate cleanser after all dramas with tortured MLs I have been watching this summer.
Now that I read the description of Frog, I will pay attention for word of mouth reviews.

Connection started with a bang. So many plot developments in the first 2 episodes. I am all in for a good mystery thriller.

  5. I am deep into tortured souls right now in lost you forever. I think my sweet mobster will be my palate cleanser but I really do want to watch connection. Glad to hear it’s off to a good start.

  6. @pm3, yay to The Princess Royal first impressions! Looking forward!

Well…because of ZhangLingHe in The Princess Royal, I’m watching Love’s Rebellion. I don’t always like immortal genre stories as they tend to have the same storyline but this is ok so far. Of course enjoying ZLH in a cool powerful character in this story, and the ‘spells’/powers aren’t too cheesy. I’ve gone back to watch some older Chinese fantasy dramas and find the cgi not up to what we are amazingly getting now…and so hard to get through. Production standards has gone up so much sometimes an old show with special effects is keenly felt…as old.

Female lead JingTian acted with XuKai on Wonderland of Love. She is 36 this year and almost a decade older than ZLH, not that it mattered in this industry. They look the young in that 20years of their career.

Other than this I will be starting The Double in 2 weeks time when my super busy period is over. I want to start on a kdrama and Love Next Door will be the perfect one to start then also.

  7. August Korean Dramas I want to check out:

Love Andante: (Premieres Aug. 7 on Kocowa.) This is the other North/South Korea Peace Village rom com that has been in production for a while. Here, a SK pianist and NK General’s daughter must share a house in the Peace Village due to a mix-up. Hijinks ensue. At 12 eps, the pace should be good, and hopefully the editing will be vastly improved ob=ver the abysmal editing of My Military Valentine.

Love Next Door- My girl Jung So Min is back in a rom com! Please be good, show.

Serendipity’s Embrace: Will continue to watch this cute rom com.

I’m not sure about these K dramas and will wait for reviews and viewer feedback:

Cinderella at 2AM: (coming to Viki)- I’m not a fan of age gap romance, so will wait to hear about this one. ML was in Wedding Impossible earlier this year.

No Gain, No Love: I like Shin Mina and contract relationship is my catnip, but I’m not sold on ML actor so will wait to hear feedback in this one.

Bad Memory Eraser: (Viki) I’m not sure about the premise, which I think is similar to the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Also not really a fan of ML actor.

DNA Lover: (Viki) Premise sounds cute, but I don’t like the ML actor (although for many people he’s a favorite). I’ll wait to see what viewers and reviews have to say about this rom com.

Romance in the House: (Netflix): I like Ji Jin Hee, not sure if this is supposed to be a comedy or more of a dramedy.

The Perfect Family: (Viki and VIU): Korean Suspense/Mystery shows are hit or miss for me, so I’ll wait on this one. Might check it out if it has “must see” feedback.

Queen Woo: (Paramount+ and VIU) Not available in my area, so may check it out at a later date.

  8. Also, for those who are invested, Season 2 of Pachinko arrives August 23, 2024 on Apple TV.

  9. My viewing is a bit choppy right now. Still finishing The Double, struggling through Only For Love and some others. I really like the look of Love Next Door. Thank you, @packmule3.

  10. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Snow Flower, @WE, we are seriously considering watching/re-watching 365 Repeat the Year for our next Rewatch Party (in about 5 weeks’ time?). We hope more BODers will join us then!

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Table, if you really get down to watching what you listed that will be a lot of shows at the same time!!!

I am looking forward to Love Next Door and to watching 365 Repeat the Year. 🙂

  12. Dear Friends, how have you been? Here in Caracas we have been very “entertained” so to speak by our current events.

At this moment I am watching just comfort series and movies. Today I finished “Koi wa Hikari” (2022) or “Love is Light”. It is deceptively simple and aimed to younger people yet it has an ace under its sleeve.

Saijo is a college student that works as a proofreader and was abandoned by both parents as a child so he was raised by his grandmother. His best friend from childhood is Kitashiro, played by a beautiful Nishino Nanase (lady is cute as a button). In class he eventually meets very old fashioned Shinonome that lost her parents in her childhood then her grandparents who raised her due to old age. He feels intrigued about her reclusive and idealistic nature.

The third girl is Yadogiri played by Baba Fumika that is… well a bombshell. Her character also considers stealing boyfriends as a form of love.

What I found out was several archetypes that roughly represents three ways to express love: Eros (Yadogiri), Philos (love by companionship) and Agape. Will not spoil which characters fall in those categories. They encounter a transformative character that points out what was obvious and makes the male lead to reconsider what he has taken for granted.

Maybe I spoiled a lot by describing the Saijo and Shinonome’s background when the movie introduces us to it with a very delicate touch.

The 1h 50 min movie is a discussion on love. Probably I would have raved about it had I watched it in my early 20’s but it was a lovely watch nonetheless in my late 40’s.

    Will read you later!

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

My Dear @FGB, I’m always glad to see you and to know that you’re managing to watch some dramas. My commiserations on the ‘entertainment’ in the other sphere of real life. If nothing else, I hope that at least adds ‘interest’ to your days.

The Japanese movie Koi wa Hikari (2022) sounds light and still thoughtful. As it’s less than 2 hours long, I may look it up to kill an hour here and there.

My thoughts and prayers go with you. Keep coming back to let us know how you are!

  14. Dear @GB, of course I will!

I might be in a kind of solitary mood, would like to think that I am only enriching my life so I can appreciate even more our time together with everyone.

It is what it is. My part of Caracas has been very quiet until folks starts banging their pots (cacerolazos). I lent my copy of “Millenium” by Tom Holland to my next door neighbor and friend. It is a book about the history and happenings of Western Europe from roughly the year 800 to the declaration of the First Crusade in 1095. The Humilliation of Canossa that Mr. Holland describes as the moment where Church and State separated speaks to me differently at this crossroad: it is a question on what makes a leader legitimate or not, where its legitimacy resides and what can be the consequences of not fulfilling his/her role properly.

I still have to type on my computer, but my notebook and fountain pens are getting lots of use 😉

  15. @FGB4877, good morning. I hope that you can stay safe and well amid what sounds like chaos. History is repetitive and these eruptions seem to be coming out all over the globe at the moment.

Thank you for the movie recommendation. I will try to find it.

  16. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @FGB,
You sound to me to be utilising your time far better than myself. I should pick up again reading for the sheer joy of it, and writing too, with a pen.

My husband says it’s been so long that he held a pen in hand to sign his name, his writing looks weird.

Before me are a stack of technical documents that I have to read and respond to, so I have the challenge to find joy in that!

  17. Kalimera Everyone!

I do hope you are all okay. Currently I am practicing JOMO. I need a break from any electronic device except Spotify.

I haven’t been able to finish: “The Double” and “My Sweet Mobster”, but I will do so, when I am in the mood.

I am not watching anything else, but I have seen a trailer on my feed of the C-Drama “Snow Fall”.

As for “Bad Memory Eraser”, has anyone started it?

In July, the only show I finished was “Sweet Home S3”.

    I will be around!<3

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Take care @Cleo! I hope you are fine too, although JOMO-ing. I’m trying to recover from an annoying cough. Been staying away from my usual pursuits. So dramas become my lifeline. See you around!

  19. Dear Friends, how have you been?.

At this moment my comment counter stops at 18 (BTW Kalispera from my side of the World dear @Cleo!!! – hope your cough gets better dear @GB!!! – Yes @Fern, what I fear the most about the future is the past still lurking to drag us down the same paths again). My guess is that I am having problems with Cookies or a rogue configuration – I know my Community is lovingly chatty – but asking @PkMl3 is not out of line and also, Hello!!!

I still have to end “Byoshitsu de Nembutsu o Tonaenaide Kudasai (2020)” (I am 8 episodes in out of 10) about a Doctor in the Accidents and Emergencies Department of his Hospital who is also a Buddhist Monk, and is one of the smartest and thought-provoking series I have watched in a while. What is a good person and what to do to live fully and without regrets in the face of death are questions pondered in this show. If you want to watch it, please be aware that it does not flinch from showing evil so be prepared.

Watched also “Koe Girls (2018)” about Seiyuu (voice) actresses, their world and how to success in it. Found it lovely and would recommend as a low stakes, funny and relaxing watch.

Now I will see if my comment gets published and how many of your voices will appear in front of me 😉

    Hope to read you soon!!!

  20. I’m moving this to the other thread dedicated to FGB, @GB. 🙂

  21. @FGB4877,

I dedicated a thread just for you. I moved your posts over there. 🙂

    pm3

  22. Kalimera Unnie!

I do hope you are feeling better. I am JOMO-ing and resting.

I saw that @FGB is online again and I came to talk to him too…

Rest as much as you can!

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thank you @Cleo! It’s a public holiday over here and I’m taking it easy indeed! 🙂

  24. If anyone is a mood for a well-written thriller that does not feature a serial killer, Connection delivers!

  25. What is it about, @Snowflower?

  26. I have been wanting to watch Connection.
But was waiting for the mood to strike. And to have the time. Now I will not let it pass me by.

  27. A detective is investigating the suspicious death of a former high school friend. As the story progresses we learn what happened 20 years ago. The show does an excellent exploration of group (or rather clique) dynamics, the bonds of friendship, and moral integrity. Excellent acting performances by the ensemble cast led by Ji Sung.

  28. Greetings All,
My kdrama and cdrama watching these days have been the Olympics. The soft diplomacy of the entertainment industry has broadened my interest in sports and athletes like never before. I’ve watched ping-pong, badminton, and shooting to name a few sports where Korean and Chinese athletes dominate. My favorite athlete of the games so far would be a tie between American Kristen Faulkner whose gold medal on the road bike was absolutely incredibly and the 15 year old Chinese surfer Yang Siqi – who is a delight to watch and an trailblazer for China in the sport of surfing. (YS also inspired Welmaris’ classic cdrama “Surfer Girl”)

As for actual dramas, I am in a drama drought at the moment but might check out Connection based on SnowFlower’s recommendation. I am looking forward to some of the kdramas that drop later in the month. Currently, I am watching the modern cdrama “I am Your Secret”. It is a little boring, but is actually getting better about halfway through. It is described as being about a contract marriage – but that is not entirely accurate as they are a couple who get “married” early for a variety of reasons but definitely have an interest in each other and it is intended to be a real marriage not a fake one. Like many cdramas, watching with a finger on the ffwd button helps!

  29. Ugh it is called ” You are my Secret” NOT “I am your Secret.” They have to keep their relationship a secret because they work together in a small division of a bank.

  30. Howdy! I’m excited for Love Next Door which comes out today but yeah expectations need to be in moderation because of the director. 🙂

I have started The Royal Princess and I am liking it so far.

Other than these two, I won’t start on anything else.

  31. Alright, @agdr03. I’ll join you in watching “The Princess Royal.” The actor is a cutie-pie, and his character becomes a smooth-talker in the “second life.” He got in trouble in his first life because he struggled to find the right words to define his relationship with his ex-fiancée. His hesitation cause the Princess Royal to suspect him of infidelity/entanglement/divided feelings.

During the second life, he’s more prepared.

  32. I’m actually reading your episode 1 and 2 observations because I needed to have the breakdown of whose who. LOL! I appreciate it very much. Thank you!

ZLH’s voice is another bonus besides his handsomeness. 🙂 I really like it.

I like that PR (Princess Royal) is hell bent on not making him her husband with all the shut me down that she did to him. hahaha

  33. You should look into “Snow Fall” too if you have time. It isn’t gory, and the male lead is too die for. Remember that Zhao Lusi drama “Dating in the Kitchen” where she pursued the older man? It’s the same premise: young girl falls for an older man.

I’m doing a write-up for another cdrama I just previewed. Will be back later.

  34. I’ve been aware of Vengo for awhile now but haven’t really watched him except for Eternal Love.

I 101% agree that he is to die for and I think he’s the only one that’s in the over 40 years old bracket that’s really good looking. He reminds me of Wang Xing Yue with the perfect facial bone structure. 🙂

Oh you’ve got another cdrama. hehehe

  35. @agdr03, (cough) you may have forgotten Wallace Huo’s age?

  36. @Fern, thanks for bringing up Wallace Huo. I had to look him up and he’s not bad. Not bad at all. 🥰

I’m not sure I can squish this drama in because I’m drawn by The Princess Royal now.

I get what you mean by kdramas lately. I’m hoping that Love Next Door won’t be a dud. 🤞🏻

  37. Oops, I was replying to you, @packmule3, but it probably should go into the other (Snow Fall) thread. I also put my name in, not that it bothers me much.

  38. @Fern, I’ll move (or copy) our comments to the other thread later today. No worries.

Got to go to church. Feast day of the Assumption.

  39. I first saw Wallace Huo when scenes from the drama ‘Battle of Changsha’ came up as shorts on my YT feed. I really enjoyed the drama. (and Mr Huo.) I didn’t know much about how the Chinese fared during WW2 so it was historically novel to me.

Some of that period looks similar to the era in which ‘Snow Fall’ is set.

  40. 🍪🍨🍪🍦🍪🍓🍉
Thank you, @packmule3. Gosh, I have to be careful with fruit and veg. emojis these days. I hope these don’t have alternate meanings.

  41. Done! I removed our posts, @Fern. They’re in the Snowfall thread. Thanks for the reminder.

  42. This month I’ve had strep throat (for the first time as an adult!), so I’ve watched more TV than usual. Unfortunately, I have not found a kdrama I’ve wanted to stick with.

    • Serendipity’s Embrace – I watched the first two episodes and was so bored that I didn’t go back. Maybe if it had been told compactly, in a 1.5 hour movie, it could have held my attention.

    • Love Next Door – As I said in the First Impressions post, I wasn’t wow-ed by the first two episodes, but the mom’s epiphany/growth by the end of the second episode makes me curious to see if her character arc will continue, so I’ll probably tune into episode 3 next weekend.

    • 100 Days My Prince – I assumed this was one of the “classics” that I had missed since I wasn’t watching kdramas when it came out. The first couple of episodes, set in the past with child actors, were pretty strong (though lots of violence) and then… the prince being stubborn and dumb over and over got really repetitive. I looked ahead at reviews for how it would end and saw that a lot of people thought it fell apart/had a disappointing ending. So I put it on hold for now.

    • Bad Memory Eraser – I watched half of the first episode; I’m not sure I’ll like it. It seemed OK. Anyone else watching it?

–I did manage to finally watch the movie, Secretly, Greatly, which I’d wanted to see since that cameo in CLOY (and it’s finally on Viki). I thought it was going to be silly, but it moved from comedy to tragedy. Kim Soo Hyun was good, as usual.

–I enjoyed the Japanese reality show, The Boyfriend on Netflix–the first LGBT reality show from Japan. The men are so polite and warm with one another. It’s nothing like you’d expect from an American reality dating show.

I have Amazon Prime for a month so I’ve watched:

    • the J-drama, Map for the Wedding. The best thing about this drama was seeing all the sites around Japan (the two main characters work for a travel agency). Is it just me, or do J-dramas make it seem that almost everyone in Japan is lonely?

    • The Affair (season 1). I’d heard great things about this show–it won lots of awards. But being used to all the chaste kdramas I’ve watched in the last few years has made me sensitive to overly sexualized situations. Sure, it’s about people having affairs and they’re going to have sex, but I don’t need to see it again and again in graphic detail. I felt embarrassed for the actors (Ruth Wilson later exited the show for this reason, even though they were using a body double for her). I’m not a prude, but it’s just that seeing flesh-against-flesh without dialog and without much variety gets kinda boring. It doesn’t move the story along, etc. If it had been told in 16 episodes, like a kdrama, instead of being extended to five seasons, I think it could have focused on the poignant aspect of a marriage breaking up (and without all those “filler” sex scenes!). It would be great if there was a kdrama version of this!!

  43. Is anyone watching or interested in watching “You are my secret” a chinese drama with Miles Wei?

Is thirty three episodes and almost finished on viki. Good reviews and ratings And has been personally recommended to me.

  44. @Monmor – I watched it. Don’t want to harsh your mellow so you may want to skip my take. What is your take?

The way Chinese dramas are released quickly with a couple of episodes each day worked in its favor. If I had to watch week to week I would have dropped.

I thought it started ok, got better, and then the end was boring. The progression and strength of their relationship was portrayed well. They communicated with each other. There were no silly misunderstandings. (FL’s baby voice when she talked to ML got worse in the end though! )

I enjoyed the work place scenes and FL’s growth (she was not a pushover) and the mentorship by her manager.

The thing I hated is the plot point with the obsessive colleague determined to win ML despite his lack of interest. I really hate this trope of the smart female colleague/friend/old girlfriend obsessed with the ML and engaging in increasingly unhinged shenanigans to “win” the ML or undermine FL. There was a similar plot in “As Beautiful As You” and in countless other cdramas. I think it is so insulting to women!

The rich girl/poor guy couple – UGH – what message was being conveyed here ? Stick to your own class? I fast forwarded through much of it so maybe I missed something.

The third couple at work were fun to watch. There were some touching scenes between them.

Last comment – I think ML is kind of a snooze but he seems to be in everything lately.

This doesn’t sound like a positive review – but the drama kept me watching through to the end and that actually is saying a lot.

  45. I am looking for my next drama. I have not watched any episodes of this one. I think I will have a look at The two chinese historlooks That are currently being discussed here.

I have watched some enjoyable dramas with miles wei But he is not a particular favorite of mine. I did not like The trope of the aggressive colleague who thought she owned the male lead in as beautiful as you. Sometimes this trope is more acceptable.
But I was bored and frustrated with it in as beautiful as you.

  46. I watched two episodes of Romance in the House on Netflix and am enjoying it. It is slightly silly – the tone reminds me of Jane the Virgin. There is maybe a murder, maybe a villain or maybe not, an overworked FL, and a hunky security guard who may or may not have a crush. The supporting cast seems to be a who’s who of Korean character actors.

  47. @GT

I watched a few episodes of “you are my secret “. I liked their relationship and appreciate your comment about the progression of their relationship being a positive of the show. This actor often plays a kind man and I like that.

However, It was rather slow moving and did not seem very original, So I Have left it for the time being but could imagine going back if No other shiny drama is drawing me away Or I have some downtime to fill.

Right now I am finishing up my sweet mobster And do not have much of a direction otherwise. Maybe a drama with vin zhang or Gao wei guang sp? Or princess royal. I am keeping my eye on the current korean romcoms but so far none of them appeal. I am considering “love’s rebellion”.

  48. I am still in the middle of The Summer Of Tortured Male Leads: I am watching Bulgasal:Immortal Souls and rewatching The Red Sleeve. I need a palate cleanser, but I am not sure if I should continue with Love Next Door.

  49. Watching “ON: Special Agent Hinako Todo (Japan – 2016)”. Great premise about a psychopath detective that has borderline serial killer tendencies but still has to kill her first victim. Some ideas are kind of ludicrous so we have to suspend our disbelief to get into the show, once we do that it is consistent so Idon’t mind. She and the team she works with solve serial murder cases.

It is excellent so far, stopped after episode 5 of 9 due to how stressful it was for me.

  50. BTW, detective Hinako Todo targets serial killers as she wants to pass the murder as self-defense.

Thankfully images are not overly gruesome.

  51. Watched “Before the coffee gets cold (Japan – 2018)” about a cofee shop with a ghost almost always (she needs to go to the bathroom) sitting in a very special spot that allows for time travel inside the same shop where you can only interact with people that has visited it. That said, the travel does not retroactively produce changes in reality.

It is a beautiful movie about regrets and moving on with your life. Also about easing our minds with truth. Lovely and relaxing watch. Maybe its take is not to withdraw love from the people around us.
