I’ll add random gifs in a bit. @GB, if I missed a comment something, please tag it by replying to that comment, so I can find it. ********************** Notes on Urban Legends After 2 episodes, I […]
Bitch Talk: October Dramas??
I have two dramas on my plate right now: 1. Zombie Detective every Monday and Tuesday • Starring Choi Jin Hyuk (“Pride and Prejudice”) and Park Joo Hyun (“A Piece of Your Mind”) It still has 4 more episodes (or 2 weeks) left. 2. Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol every Wednesday and Thursday • Starring […]
Alice: Eps 11 and 12 Questions and Answers; Grade
1. Why am I still watching this? Because I wanted to know who this “Teacher” was. 2. Who’s the “Teacher”? It was the Catholic guy. In Kdrama, every time there’s a Catholic guy among the suspects, the Catholic guy is the bad guy. This anti-Catholic bias is insidious in kdramas, and pop culture. And I’m […]
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol: Ep 4 Open Thread/Rewatch Thread
Tomorrow, @agdr03 and I are doing a “rewatch” of Episode 4. Saturday, Sept 16, 6:00 am EST (my time) 9:00 pm in Sydney, Australia (agdr03’s time) 11:00 am in the UK. (Fern, do you think you can join us?) 6:00 pm in Singapore, Philippines, etc. 5:00 pm in Indonesia 3:30 pm in India But go […]
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol: Ep 3 Open Thread/Watch Thread
I’m joining @Agdr03 as she watches this episode. We’ll do one of our famous running commentaries. Like sportscasters watching a soccer game, we’ll shout GOOOOOAAAAAAL! everytime we see a cute episode. Goal = relationship goal You’re free to join us. By the way, lurkers who are butthurt (you know who you are), I’ve already blocked […]
Tale of the Nine-Tailed: Eps 3 & 4 Open Thread
The thread is now open for comments, analyses, rants and raves. Gifs from last week’s episodes. Ahhh. So that was Zombie from “Zombie Detective” was doing with air freshener. credit: yesdrama’s tumblr Watch him do that eyebrow trick a hundred times in this drama. credit: yesdrama’s tumblr The umbrella homage credit: ohsehuns’ tumblr And this […]
Tale of the Nine-Tailed: Ep 1 First Impressions
I’m not going to lie about this: Episode 1 was a “Goblin” deja-vu. Let me list down the scenes and ideas this drama ripped off from “Goblin.” I’ll limit myself to 15. 1. Jiah’s parents meet a car accident with no one in sight. Euntak’s mom meets a car accident with no witnesses. 2. Male […]
Zombie Detective: Eps 7 & 8
Another week, another entertaining and successful resolution in Zombie Detective. I like how an abbreviated schedule (12 episodes, instead of the regular 16) forces the story to be tight. The key background info and emotional content are delivered as needed. There’s no detour and red herrings. Every line and scene either reveal something about the […]
Record of Youth: Eps 9 to 12; OSTs
The thread is now open for comments, rants and raves. JT7 is the current bingo winner. Here’s the new bingo card. I’m surprised that there’s no fried chicken PPL yet. Let’s enjoy the shows! ************************* Here are the OSTs. The English translations are all from https://kgasa.com/ 1. “Go” by SeungKwan (Seventeen) . I found a dream […]
Zombie Detective: Eps 5 & 6
For viewers who are easily sidetracked like me, the references to other kdramas in this show is such a catnip that the mystery of Zombie’s death and Santa Killer’s identity fall by the wayside. Me: Who’s Santa? What’s going on? Huh? First, let’s get the pop culture out of the way, shall we? Episode 2. […]
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol: On Becoming Emma
I know many of you are finding the heroine Rara tough to like so here’s my other reason for loving her character. Previously, I wrote that she reminded me of Lucy in “I love Lucy.” But I guess that sitcom was way ancient for many of you, thus the reference was lost. This time, then, […]
Tale of the Nine-Tailed: Eps 1 & 2 Open Thread
To be honest, I’m not feeling this drama. What the heck is a “Nine-Tailed”? Shouldn’t it be a “Nine-Tailed FOX”? Primarily because I’m struggling to care a lot for the female lead. Jo Bo Ah isn’t my type. However, just go ahead and start discussing the show. Maybe I’m just cranky because I’m tired from […]
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol: Eps 1 and 2
Four reasons why I’m enjoying this kdrama: 1. The title, “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol” The quickest way to hook me into a kdrama is to use the title to set up the context of story, and the personalities of the characters. I’m intrigued by imaginative titles and I’ve no choice but to […]
Bitch Talk: Autumn Days
How have y’all been doing? I hope everything’s been swell while I was gone. I’m back on for a breather from all the craziness in the world. I’ll be doing a bit of housekeeping on the blog. I’ll let some of the old threads fall down. If you want to retrieve them, just click on […]
