If you’re watching Netflix’s “School Nurse Files,” stop and watch this instead. You won’t get lost in the worldbuilding because the story follows physical laws. In fact, the rules are twisted to hilarious results. For example, when Zombie Kim MooYung hasn’t eaten for days, he loses his senses and, to his horror, becomes a monster. […]
Dating in the Kitchen: Episode 6
I’ve to list down the highlights because I’m going to forget them. 1. The Uncle dropped by We saw the beginning of this last episode. Lu Jin was settling in her apartment as if it was his home-away-from-home. I like that Shengnan was very protective of the things that he brought for her apartment, like […]

Record of Youth: Eps 7 & 8 Open Thread
The thread is now open for spoilers and reactions. The winner for last week’s Bingo Game was Grace. Congratulations, Grace! Here’s the trophy for you. Here’s the Bingo game this week. Good luck!!! I’m surprised that that there’s no BBQ product placement in this kdrama? Really?? They’re always featured in popular kdramas like “Goblin,” “Crash […]

Love Lasts Forever: Episode 9, Part 2
Part 1 is here: Love Lasts Forever: Episode 9, Part 1 But where was I? Ah! The Basho haiku. I challenged myself to look for haikus for each one of the themes of this episodes. As some of you probably know already, haikus are generally about everyday life and nature, not love. So I’ll be stretching […]
Record of Youth: Kiss Comparison with “Do You Like Brahms?”
Ahhhh. Is this what’s trending now in kdrama kisses nowadays? The follow-up kiss by the piano? The guy first gives a short kiss, then follows it up with a much longer one. Only, there’s additional prop thrown in the scene: the black baby grand piano. Thanks, @agdr03, for this comparison between the two first kisses […]
Dating in the Kitchen: Eps 4 and 5
Update: 9/29/2020. @Table122000, that scene with Lu Jin reading in the sunlight reminded me of a Vermeer masterpiece. Woman in Blue Reading a Letter (1662–65) source: Wikimedia Commons As you probably know, Vermeer loved to play with light to capture the “feel” of the moment. We know that it’s a fleeting moment, that is, the […]
Love Lasts Forever: Episode 9, Part 1
This episode reminds me of a haiku. It’s pithy, and the ending is unexpected. I chose four haikus from the famous poet Basho which I’ll be revising for my (evil) purposes. lol. What quietness! Penetrating the rocks, The voices of cicadas! An old pond, A frog jumps in, The sound of water. Spring is passing. […]
Flower of Evil: Ep 16 Open Thread
The thread is now open for closing remarks, final thoughts and goodbyes. Take a bow, Moon Chae Won, Lee Joon Ki, and the supporting cast! Good job! You did well! Let’s hope that everybody will get the ending that they deserve. Gifs from sofarawayfromthemilkyway’s tumblr. credit: sofarawayfromthemilkyway’s tumblr Let’s enjoy the finale!
Zombie Detective: First Impressions and Open Thread
The humor in this comedy drama is so witty I almost died laughing. Starring drop-dead gorgeous Choi Jin Hyuk (“Pride and Prejudice” and “Devilish Charm”) and Park Joo-Hyun (the dead friend in “A Piece of Your Mind”), the first four episodes show Choi’s character transform from an amnesiac zombie into an undead detective. He awoke […]
Alice: Eps 7 and 8 Questions and Answers
Here we go again. 1. Why did the Assassin Ju Hae Min leave the bloody graffiti? On the surface, it looked as if the graffiti served as a warning that the time travel Prof Taeyi would discover would lead to deaths. She had to be stopped and killed so she wouldn’t open the Pandora’s box […]
Record of Youth: Eps 5 & 6 Open Thread
The thread is now open for comments, spoilers, and analyses. Grace was our bingo winner last week. I don’t know if you still want to continue doing bingo, but here’s the card for this week. Good luck! It’s Week #3 and usually in kdramas, the romance extends outside the circle of two. Hyejun’s manager is […]
Alice: Eps 7 & 8 Open Thread
The thread is now open for spoilers, discussion and theories. I usually dislike second female leads who are crazily head over heels in love with the hero. But in this kdrama, I’m actually rooting for DoYeon to win JG. #AnybodyButTaeYi 1. Gifs from yesdramas’ tumblr credit: yesdramas’ tumblr 2. Gifs from yesdramas’ tumblr credit: yesdramas’ […]
